Took me back to when my friend told us about this game. We had to run a bank heist gold pro job to prove if we could stealth or not. So many good times and heists we had, and here’s to many more for years to come. Hope Payday 3 finds a nice blend of realism and craziness.
I believe that the huge grind is actually quite fun and it was supposed to be like the one in Killing Floor 1: you need tens of hours to get to max level because that was supposed to be the "early game" where you have fun with the game without being able to experiment too much because you are still learning the beginner to decent player stuff. Once you get to 100 it becomes a game of beating every single heist, getting achievements and expanding builds. What I mean is that you basically "beat" the game twice (or at least that was always what I felt while playing) : the first time when you get to level 100, the second time when you are capable of beating anything you want at any difficulty.
I honestly liked the more hardcore grind of og payday I enjoyed the less people running around at Mach 5 with dual fire shotties and more tactically fought and it felt more realistic
TBH i like this old style more than what we have now. It made your team mates more valuable and the enemies were more challenging. There is definitely a balance here.
I'm surprised this isn't said more often, but gun sounds were a lot more realistic. They echo was way more noticeable and it made the guns feel so powerful. That was one of my favorite parts about old Payday 2, and I'm not sure when they changed it, but gunshots don't echo as much as they used to
16:39 I only just now realized the hours I've put into this game to not even notice the saw's noise for the entirety of those clips until you mentioned it...
My uncle is a well-known rap artist (not A-list celebrity, but if you're really into 90's rap you've probably heard of him), I showed him your bit there and he actually thought the rhyming was very good. So yeah. Nice job!
At the ten minute mark, I knew that I'd subscribe. The mad lad rapped about skill tree in a game over 8 years old. You can't get any better than this on UA-cam LMAOOO. Solid video man!
The defensive playstyle definetely was more engaging than today's mindless aggressive cop searching and killing just to get your kill skills activated since you actually had to come up with tactics on where to go, where to defend, and which corners to constantly keep track of. Also to add to your commentary about Simon Viklund and the appreciation for the soundtrack, he also has helped with the sound design of the game, so in the older version you were able to get the Heat-like reverb/echo effects in gunfights, where you were able to hear the echo of your voice, gun noise bouncing off buildings and overall very loud gunshots indoors. Viklund now works on sound design and music pieces in GTFO alongside other OG Overkill developers that have left the team and PAYDAY when it has begun its slippery slope in late 2015. There are also mods to achieve the original playstyle / feeling of the game like "Original Pack" and "Classic Heisting" please don't download Restoration Mod, it does not restore the game to it's original / alpha state (not fully at least) and it is just a re-named "SC's Mod"
Yeah, PD2 today is just starting to feel more and more like your generic action shooter game, only with the heist and thieving themes stuck somewhere in between. I mean, with all these new enemies, I often ask myself the question : how long till we're gonna be fighting Superman in this game?
After 2 videos watching of you that I both liked, you earned my subscription. Without begging for it like almost all UA-camrs. Great videos, I'm checking some more soon!
The thing I miss most of all is making all three classes have distinct purposes. Good classes in Payday 2 as it stands are classes that could do everything on their own if they had to.
My favourite part of old payday was the fact that submitted cops didn't trigger the pager request and they were ignored by other guards. So heavy armour, big guns, high intimidation and shouting "HANDS UP" was the best way to do stealth
Once health regeneration became a thing, the difficulty changed forever. The biggest ways you die in modern are OP damage that one or two shot you to death or else you’ll stay alive, while modern is making as few mistakes over a longer period of time. Mistakes in modern payday either result in death or hiding around for a few moments while mistakes in the older days result in missing health that you 100% won’t get back. You can make a gamble once, but not twice.
Hope Starbreeze go back to focus more on this approach in Payday 3. Hardcore team-based play with limited selections and assets. Not 10000 weapons, characters and skills.
i personaly belive 2013 -14 to be the sweet spot for clasic payday . You get the origanal vision of the game but you get a lot of quality of life improvments. The way i know all of that is that i play the ps3 version
As someone who cant play fresh payday 2 and is stuck with the 2013 version until my pc is set up I can tell you Inspire doesn't work very well takes a few shouts to work, pistol messiah is your savior, shotguns are the only viable weapons on overkill, berserker aced is a must, and don't even bother specing in for iron man because the "armor boosts" you get for equipping higher tier armor is nothing they still get knocked down in the same number of shots which is why I find myself using the ballistic vest for movement speed, always run jokers and I suggest running the 126 double barrel primary and bronco secondary for pistol messiah, spec into loot bag skills and running skills and overkill becomes light work on old payday 2.
I actually really didn't like Payday 2 (or it might've been the first one? I don't even remember) when it first came out, but the changes you describe make me interested in maybe giving it another chance some day.
It's really fun! Though I would recommend picking it up with some friends if you can. The difficulty curve at the start is definitely a barrier to entry, but it's greatly offset by having teammates. It gets really cheap on sale, might be a good opportunity to try it with some friends.
such a great video, i play this version on xbox 360 for years and i enjoy everytime, i didn't know how great the pc version was, now today i look to the past with good old memories and remember the fun i have
Dude i remeber playing this with my buddies and all we wanted was to get mask since they only dropped from paydays back in the day no achievment mask plus i kinda miss how gritty it use to feel.
22:30 The most relatable part of the video for me. I preordered the (Yes, I know, bad) game and never stopped playing for long. I still wish there was a separate slider for Bain for the menus. I never even grinded Ukrainian Job like other people did and I *still* hated that fucking line.
I remember having this game on the 360 on disc, the disc was missing and I thought it was inside my 360. Instead of plugging it in and ejecting it, I took a screwdriver and tried to pry it open, not only did it completely ruin the 360 but there was no disc in there so there was no point in doing it anyway. Never found that disc but I still got the case.
6:24 I do remember this... it used to require proper preparation and class requirement to beat or make missions more enjoyable/POSSIBLE to beat (specially in deathwish difficulties) it saddest me seeing the game on it's current state, while they finally added more infamy levels I gotta say is a bit too late for it specially when rewards for infamy are so lame and totally not worth doing. Add on top of that the shameful dlcs that they keep popping up and charging for it after they said they wouldn't do it after a certain point in it's life cycle promising they would focus on the next installment of the game (which even tho they recently "confirmed" being working on PD3 at this point in time would u care or even believe them?) I get they had 2 major flops with their "recent" games but that's only on them for poor management and direction. They had a lot of money and they wasted it and now they keep exploiting it's fan base just cos THEY fuck up... and we got to support them because they promised PD3 in the future? pfffff. Honestly EVERYONE should load up older payday versions and stop playing it's current version and buying their shitty reskins dlcs.
is nobody going to talk about OG's deagle model/animation/running with any pistol animation?? I want these back! They look...a lot more realistic! Why they were replaced is a mystery to me :p
In regards to being seen at 16:00 In older PAYDAY 2, stealth worked on line-of-sight for only the host, whereas nowadays it's line-of-sight for hosts and clients. Back then, if you were a client, it was about whether enemies saw your player model. Since your point of view in PAYDAY 2 is planted firmly in your own chest, that means you'd get spotted because enemies could see your head - but from your point of view you were in cover and shouldn't be sticking out vertically, even though you are. Silly jank :P

@@e3nethan910 why not
God, I remember before I bought PD2 and only had the demo. This is the same version I believe
The demo was the 2014 version
What dozers have to say about payday!
Then: I'm gonna mess you up!
Now: Holy shit! Aughhh!
Meanwhile, some of us poor people are still playing 2013 on the PS3.
Same man
Same man
I still playing payday 2 on ps3 just for fun
This filled me with nostalgia, made me happy in these dark days. Thank you so much!
Aw, I'm glad to hear it. Fingers crossed PAYDAY 3 secures a publisher, and the new game can give us that feeling in a few years' time.
Me having a PS3 with 2013 edition:
._.XD
days when payday was about heists, not about MyStIcAL lORe
After 2 videos watching of you that I both liked, you earned my subscription. Without begging for it like almost all UA-camrs. Great videos, I'm checking some more soon!
aaah.. This nostalgia feeling of old Payday
The thing I miss most of all is making all three classes have distinct purposes. Good classes in Payday 2 as it stands are classes that could do everything on their own if they had to.
I agree
Holy shit that rap portion was so fire it ran the risk of overheating my phone.
My favourite part of old payday was the fact that submitted cops didn't trigger the pager request and they were ignored by other guards. So heavy armour, big guns, high intimidation and shouting "HANDS UP" was the best way to do stealth
You could only dominate 1 person
WarriorKeens Exactly
Can I just say that I appreciate the Poké-rap in the middle of the video? Must have taken some time to get everything to rhyme.
i personaly belive 2013 -14 to be the sweet spot for clasic payday . You get the origanal vision of the game but you get a lot of quality of life improvments. The way i know all of that is that i play the ps3 version
Eminem been real quiet after that rap dropped.
did I just find an underrated youtuber?
As someone who cant play fresh payday 2 and is stuck with the 2013 version until my pc is set up I can tell you Inspire doesn't work very well takes a few shouts to work, pistol messiah is your savior, shotguns are the only viable weapons on overkill, berserker aced is a must, and don't even bother specing in for iron man because the "armor boosts" you get for equipping higher tier armor is nothing they still get knocked down in the same number of shots which is why I find myself using the ballistic vest for movement speed, always run jokers and I suggest running the 126 double barrel primary and bronco secondary for pistol messiah, spec into loot bag skills and running skills and overkill becomes light work on old payday 2.
same but with an xbox 360 because i can't afford shit but boots and coats.
Now in 2021 a level 0 player can equip an RPG as a secondary weapon
I actually really didn't like Payday 2 (or it might've been the first one? I don't even remember) when it first came out, but the changes you describe make me interested in maybe giving it another chance some day.
It's really fun! Though I would recommend picking it up with some friends if you can. The difficulty curve at the start is definitely a barrier to entry, but it's greatly offset by having teammates. It gets really cheap on sale, might be a good opportunity to try it with some friends.
25:06
That perfect sync of "Place" between Revo and Bane.
I remember the experience of joining a random lobby of cook off, pissing my pants from hearing the skull dozer charging up the stairs.
Fun fact: in the early beta of payday 2, Dallas had a Texan accent
Yeah, the original VA wasn't available at the time, so they used a different guy
Me playing at launch: 3 skulls too many even with a full party
Me playing now: full health with dodge joker build soloing entire maps on mayhem.
Payday 3 has to follow Payday the heist and payday 2 old ver.
such a great video, i play this version on xbox 360 for years and i enjoy everytime, i didn't know how great the pc version was, now today i look to the past with good old memories and remember the fun i have
15:22 oh wow, I forgot about the rats d1 god spot
It also looks like the odds of "Wanted Dead Or Alive" are very slim, just reached level 50 and heard it for the first time
Dude i remeber playing this with my buddies and all we wanted was to get mask since they only dropped from paydays back in the day no achievment mask plus i kinda miss how gritty it use to feel.
Salem's guide sadly doesn't work anymore.
However, there is a new one that makes use of a third-party tool which still works.
I miss cat burglar, jumping off of rooftops was kinda fun.
Guys the pot plant on harvest and trustee go crouch under it
22:30 The most relatable part of the video for me. I preordered the (Yes, I know, bad) game and never stopped playing for long. I still wish there was a separate slider for Bain for the menus. I never even grinded Ukrainian Job like other people did and I *still* hated that fucking line.
I played payday 2 on my sisters ps3. This is what that was like. I played way past 2013. Probably to 2016.
Add on top of that the shameful dlcs that they keep popping up and charging for it after they said they wouldn't do it after a certain point in it's life cycle promising they would focus on the next installment of the game (which even tho they recently "confirmed" being working on PD3 at this point in time would u care or even believe them?)
I get they had 2 major flops with their "recent" games but that's only on them for poor management and direction.
No
Didnt ask, dont care
@@utheemmely271 and yet you reply. Thanks for reading LUL.
Life before the medic must've been amazing...
I remember back in those days how OP dodge was...and how much I got yelled at for bringing light armour to loud
is nobody going to talk about OG's deagle model/animation/running with any pistol animation?? I want these back! They look...a lot more realistic! Why they were replaced is a mystery to me :p
Im pretty sure they werent replaced
Bulldozers being feared back then to now me 2 shotting them with my fists with sociopath
My favourite 'feature' is when dozers rush you, then just stop in the middle of what they're doing to stare at you blankly haha
"your opinion my choice" -The Original Payday 2 Dev and Community Experience
The freestyle rap sounded something from DanBull
In regards to being seen at 16:00
In older PAYDAY 2, stealth worked on line-of-sight for only the host, whereas nowadays it's line-of-sight for hosts and clients.
Now I remember why I could only play on very hard back then.
Omg the time when you needed an perk for the 4th pager
15:22 Rust when medics: Fuck me!
never the same without a M249 SAW light machine gun
Og payday kinda reminds me of overkills the walking dead. In terms of missing stuff.
This is a great video!
Oh i have 2013 payday 2 and i shredd through bulldozers
