I cry every time I watch this. Third generation Elvis fan. My mom and grandma were in that huge group. They drove from South Carolina. Being born 8 years after Elvis death I never got to experience Elvis alive. That hits different. If you are not an Elvis fan you will never understand the love for Elvis. If you are an Elvis fan then no other explanation is needed. My children are becoming fourth generation Elvis fans. Thanks for keeping Elvis alive in 2022

Even though I was just a kid, when I seen that he had past away, I cried for days. I actually still have the program from the concert. He was a Beautiful Soul.

The world did stop, I live in Australia, I remember the day he died, headlining the news all the papers, for me I was collecting Elvis records and still am a big fan, I couldn't believe it, I remember thinking that this is the end of music as we know it, Elvis's music, there was a meaning to all of his music, I know everyone talks about Michael Jackson and his music, He didn't change music, all he did was make a few new tunes, Elvis changed the world with his music, he didn't steal music from anyone, Elvis just used music that he had heard from his friends in the black community, where he also lived, he felt that music and brought it to every one to hear...

M.J didnt have the world on his shoulders like The King. Poor guy was crowned king at the love me tender age of 21- straight from being dirt poor, survived the tsunami wave of criticism etc from the establishment, nearly got banned from tv, had to serve the draft in germany for 2 years whilst his beloved mother passes away, had to sing side by side with Sinatra who was convinced the screams were for him during Elvis comeback, meets Cilla, had to churn out b grade movies for the next 8 yrs whilst the Beatles were doing a great job imitating him etc etc and he did it with utmost class! M.Js biggest dilemma was playing with a barbie doll he wanted to look like many years later. Sheesh

One of Elvis’ greatest fears during his last year or so was that he would be forgotten because he had not done anything worthwhile in his life. I have been a huge Elvis fan since 1961. I have over 230 books on Elvis in my collection. So I think it is fair to say I know a thing or two about him. AND I can tell you that he would be absolutely blown away and very humbled to know that lovely people like yourselves, and so many others too, are just discovering him in 2020, 43 years after he left us. And Elvis would be thrilled to welcome you to his fan family too. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for the work you are doing in perpetuating Elvis’ legacy. With new fans like you Elvis will never die.

I remember the BBC news announcement so well. Even the newscaster was stunned (and in 1977 BBC news announcers did not show their emotions on the news), He was called Reginald Bosinquet and he said after announcing it, 'I hope it isn't true'. Announcers NEVER made comment when reading the BBC news. It still makes me cry to see Elvis's funeral, all these years later. We all loved him and we still do. Thank you for your sensitive reaction.

Forest Hill Cemetery was a "sea of flowers." A spokesperson for FTD, the flowers-by-wire service, they had more orders that day for Elvis than ever before in their history. By that afternoon, Memphis ran out of flowers and scrambled to get additional flowers shipped in from around the nation. To this day this has never been duplicated. It is still hard for me to watch, I remember it being televised on the networks and still brings back the memories and the tears.

I live in Memphis and remember that day. I was 16. We in Memphis looked at Elvis like a neighbor. The city had idea how big of a deal Elvis was until he died. Outside Graceland, over 100,000 people had gathered. For the next three days, it was chaos in a way. The city was so unprepared for it. They allowed fans to walk by the casket. Imagine a long line up the driveway to the front of the mansion, and that line extended nearly to the Mississippi state line. I worked in a movie theater, and some of the theaters had all-night Elvis movies. My friends and I went to one. As I said, Memphis had no idea Elvis was so big. We used to see him in his front yard or driving around in one of his Stutz cars or one of his motorcycles. It was a day I vividly remember. Five years later, I went to work for the estate when it opened the mansion. Once again, I could not believe how many people from all over the world came to the mansion. I do not think you can overstate the impact of Elvis.

You know how you will always remember where you were during a particularly powerful Moment In Time?
I can remember the minute we heard that Elvis died like it happened five minutes ago.
I walked into the house with all of my books, (covered in grocery bag book covers and bound up with a book strap) and heard both of my parents crying through the window.
They weren't wailing but it was obvious something terrible had happened. The loss of Elvis shook the entire world.
Elvis's best music, in my opinion is his gospel music.
You know, Elvis never saw himself as the king of rock and roll. He often lamented that his one personal dream in life would never happen. He wanted to simply be the bass singer in a Gospel quartet.
You can still find the clip here on UA-cam where Elvis stopped his Las Vegas show right in the middle of a song because a group of women held up signs that spelled out Elvis, the king!
He said no, I am not the King. Jesus Christ is King!
Elvis was a superstar Yet remained humble and true to his roots.

It's really amazing at how big he still is worldwide 42 years later. Outside of Dr. King and JFK, I can't think of a more important figure who has been gone as long as Elvis has and remained relevant. His home Graceland in Memphis is the most visited home in America yearly with over 600,000 visitors per year. He is buried there along with his mom, dad and grandmother. Across the street there's a massive 200,000 square foot museum complex showcasing his enormous story and career, all of his stage costumes, cars, planes, plus a 450-room five star resort hotel called The Guesthouse At Graceland and a 2,000-seat concert venue which is drawing big name entertainment. It's literally a musical Disneyland without the rides.

I was 15 years old when Elvis died. Yes, I am old lol I remember thinking it wasn't real. My mom came into my room and told me and I didnt believe her. I turned on the television and watched the news and cried and cried. I had loved him since the first time I heard his voice. I was so young but he made me happy. My brothers used to tease me about how I had to buy every album, all his posters, and watch every movie. When he was on tv, mom would make everyone in our house watch him because she knew I had to watch it was my tv when Elvis was on, and in my eyes there was no other singer or entertainer in the world. It was a sad day for so many people. Not just because we lost a great talent, but because the world seem to have lost a shining light. Thank you for your Elvis takeover. It makes my heart happy again! 💕

I also was 15. I used to go stay the summers with my brother and sister in law. She and I were home and heard it on the news! My very first album was Elvis golden hits, I got it when I was about 8 and when I was 10, I got a guitar for Christmas. I wanted to play because of Elvis. Yes, I have the album the guitar and everything Elvis still.(other albums, movies etc.) Was a sad day. We cried with the rest of the world. I had not known anyone before that time that died so young. Elvis music touched lives like no other entertainer in my opinion. I love all Elvis music. Now that I am old I love the Gospel the best. When he sang you heard the best voice. He was a storyteller through song! His Gospel songs tells the story of Jesus with such spirit and power! He believed in Jesus! Hope to hear him singing in heaven! ♥️Elvis♥️

Look it up it's true. His death was the first time a celebrity death was the lead story. Yes the whole world stopped. It was like the earth had shifted off it's axis. How could it be? How could Elvis be gone? So young so beautiful. Such talent. A loss I still feel to this day. Not looking forward to finally having to tell my 4 yr old granddaughter she can't marry him because he passed away. There are specific moments in history when the world came to a halt....JFK's death, MLK's death, & Elvis' death. It's not like that anymore...that tells you something....these special people at this magnitude don't exist anymore. It's all a 'wash' now. Anyways, since you reacted to the hardest part which was his funeral, don't forget that he was still going right to the very end, delivering no matter what. *forget what you may have heard or read about his final years...he was still Elvis & should be respected & appreciated.* PEACE!

While Elvis was alive it just seemed like everything was going
to be ok with the world. I know that
    may sound strange to
people but he had a way about him that
    made his fans feel his
    love for them. Elvis
and his fans had a life-long love affair.
    The same day Elvis
    died my husband
    was in the hospital.
    I was in my husbands
    hospital room and the
doctor just told us that he was terminal.
After my husband fell asleep I walked down to the river ...sat on the grass and wanted
to end my life. I didn't
know if I could go on
anymore without my husband and Elvis. Eventually
    I realized my husband
needed me and I wanted to take care
of him. But for decades after Elvis
    death I could not
    listen to his music
    or see his picture.
    The grief I felt was
    overwhelming so I
had to distance myself .I only just
    started listening to
    Elvis again about a
    year ago. I can still
    cry very easily when
    he sings or I see
    his pictures but I
    missed him and his
    music so much I
    wanted to try to listen
and I am so glad I did.
    Welcome to the
    wonderful world of
Elvis music....thank you for taking this journey and for helping to keep his
    memory alive....🌻

When I was 3 in 1955, my Dad worked where he had a show and Elvis picked me up and kissed my cheek. I loved him since that day on. When I heard the tragic news, I and the world was devastated. Yes people fainted laying on the streets everywhere. We couldn’t believe HE was gone, how is this possible? He just got too tired of mending all our broken hearts, caring too much. There had to be more broken hearts that day in the history of the world. His best friend, Jerry Schilling, just said on this past Friday that we should all be listening to his “If I had a dream” it should be playing now as an inspiration for us all!!! If you are depressed, listen to “ Are you lonesome tonight” funny version here on UA-cam. It’s great. Love to all, love each other.

I was going into my second year in high school and my uncle Ed came home from being in the service he called my house and told me to pack my clothes and fishing equipment for a two week fishing trip down to Southern Missouri. Are plan was to fish for 10 days and after that head over to Tennessee and go to Graceland. We were both huge Elvis fans , we both had black hair and side burns . My uncle when he was young used to dress up like Elvis. He could pass for his brother. I guess that's where I got it from. I remember we were driving down highway 55 listing to the radio and catching up with each other. I hadn't seen him from three years we were having a blast. All of the sudden the dj on the radio announced that Elvis had passed away, we were both shocked and silent. I looked over at my uncle and seen tears running down his face. My uncle was a tough man and I never seen him cry before and that made me drop a few tears too , are favorite singer had just died.We pulled off the highway to a gas station to ask if anyone else had heard the same thing. We walked into the station and everyone was watching the television that they had in there and were all crying and upset. We were already in southern Missouri close to the lake and resort the whole town was in shock. As much as we wanted to go to Memphis we just stayed at the lake because we figured it would be over crowded with fans.
That was one day I'll never forget.
