One thing I've always liked about this movie is that Dewey never hesitates to let the kids be who they want to be or hit them with that pep talk when they need it. When "Fancy Pants" wanted to be the costume designer instead of security, there was no judgment or hesitation; Dewey just said "Of course you can, Fancy Pants." And then when Tamika is doubting herself before the audition, he was able to relate to where she was coming from and give her to motivation to do her thing despite what other people might have to say about it. Great movie with a great message. I never get tired of watching it.

Yes he did say that, and he still gets together with the kids who are now adults. Hard to believe that they are all 20 years old than when they made this!
Especially Zach’s dad Reminds me of the guitarist from Queen He said even though he was doing both the intellectual root he also did the guitarist and until the father saw the impact of his musical talent then and only then he understood just like this father in this flick
I always like watching people that have a music reaction channel see this movie for the first time. It would almost be impossible to truly appreciate all the references, songs and meanings without knowing the music. Good times.
So, the Puff Daddy line drop actually aged perfectly and they wound up on the right side of history. At the time, it was just funny because he's such a rock purest, the character would reject anything modern and not traditional and 'real' musicians who played their instruments and could sing therefore revered older acts by default and on principle. But now considering Ditty's decades long reign of terror of morals raps and endless crimes against humanity and arguably crimes against music, craft of singing, rapping, freak-offs, what. this part just landed squarely on the side of default corrective reasoning and all that is right and holy.

True story: In 1995, I moved into quaint, mid-century Studio City apartment building. 15 units, central courtyard, everyone knew each other by first name. A married couple, Kyle & Tracy, lived in an upper unit over looking the pool area. Tracy was a chef/caterer & Kyle was a musician. Kept hearing Kyle & a goofy-looking friend of his playing (live) music & singing. I remember sitting in the pool with a neighbor, looking up at that apartment, and laughing, wondering WTF is that? They were great musicians, but the lyrics were so weird! It was, of course, Tenacious D.

I absolutely love this movie. Asia, this movie gives me happy tears every time also. Funny thing is that even though it’s a feel good movie, at its simplest core it’s about exploiting children. A funny part that seems to go unnoticed is. Hen Mullins asks Dewey about her school he says it’s the best school he’s ever teached in when it should be taught. The soundtrack kicks ass. And BJ it’s not old rock, it’s classic rock. Old rock would be some Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, and others. 😉
RIP to Kevin Clark (Freddie Jones),he was always my fav as a kid cuz we both had the same last name
I always love the one dude in the audience who is cheering for No Vacancy.
Cannot say this enough: Sarah Silverman must be a good actress, because I cannot stand her in this role ;)
She must be a great actress cause I just can’t stand her…….😅
Actually, she's basically playing herself in this. 🤣 Born to play this role.
She's not a good person irl.
@@bethanyhanna9464 This is the only answer
She's basically playing her annoying self.
E=MC squared is Einstein's Theory of Relativity.
The song over the credits is an actual AC/DC song.
My daughter was about 4 when this came out, and this was one of her go-to movies for years .
And I must have had to watch it dozens of times.
Lucky for me, this move is good !
Same with Dady day care .
All I see is Venelope when I hear Sarah talk 😂
