    Nioh 2 is such an underrated gem. The combat system is so deep. It can be its own endgame loop.

      Yeah. I know some people wish there was more to do in endgame, but for a caveman like myself some good combat and gameplay loop is all you need

    P.S. adding the moves you executed over some of the video clips was a really nice touch! I would not have gained anything from the footage otherwise, but simply adding the attack names added a lot of benefit :)

      Thank you. I have been consuming video game content in a lot of different ways and felt the need to put it in a video. There are days where I doubt myself and this video and the one before it were really challenging for me to make mentally. I say all that to say that when there is doubt and hardship it is usually the path you should take to begin with. I work a lot and have to maintain my relationships and all that so i dont get to work on these as much as I can but a comment like this is a gentle reminder that I have a voice worth speaking and editing into the world.

    Bonus tip: Grind for Lumicite Crystals in "The Buddha's Palm" from DLC 2 and Inspiriting Gems in "A Distant Dream" in DLC 3 to Yokai Shift whenever you want.
    Two Lumicite Crystals are enough to give you a full meter instantly, and Inspiriting Gems build your Amrita gauge over time.

    Thanks for the tips! For fellow noobs like me, I just want to emphasize that in most of your first playthrough, you're not going to get a ton of extra damage from using a weapon that scales with the stat you chose to invest the most in.
    In other words, don't think that sticking to your stat buffed weapon is the optimal way to play. Use new game to try out other weapons.
    If you're a dum dum like me, you can dump stats into dex for ninjutsu or into magic and still use whatever weapon type. That way you also have extra tools and buffs to use. Obviously you'll have much lower life and defense if you don't invest in life or stamina, but everything kills you easily no matter your early game stats, so what the hell 😅

    • @Trugrim
      @Trugrim  10 місяців тому +1

      Yes. I somewhat covered this in my previous video but switching weapons will make for fun. My first playthrough I went stamina but had a dual sword and sword playthrough. Dual swords giving me more defense with the mystic art combined with stamina I was mega tanky

  • @jasonchotard9750
    @jasonchotard9750 10 місяців тому

    I going to have to disagree; new players should take dual swords as a starting weapon, the mystic art is required to unlock all of the guardian spirits. Use your secondary weapon to fight humans, this gives a reason to weapon switch, and will build confidence with different weapon types; you can use your ungyo title list as a guide for changing weapons(e.g kill 50 humans with sword, then change to spear).

    • @Trugrim
      @Trugrim  10 місяців тому +4

      I think dual swords are really nice as well, but the simplicity of the odachi and axe are slightly more friendly to a new player in my opinion. High damage meaning you don't have to be as mindful with your ki if youre just doing a tons of damage in a couple of hits. Ive tried every other combo and think swords and dual swords are the most fun, but in my eyes axe and odachi wins in terms of ease of use.

    • @jasonchotard9750
      @jasonchotard9750 10 місяців тому +1

      @@Trugrim I've started many new characters, and the one thing that was true for all of them was that I needed the dual sword mystic art; if I intend to do all of the missions, and get all guardian spirits.

    • @Trugrim
      @Trugrim  10 місяців тому +1

      I think it's great that the dual swords work so well for you, but there are any number of ways to tackle the game and i'm sure that as players get more advanced they will figure out what style resonates with them. As i become more skilled at doging I dont really find the mystic art of the dual sword to be a complete necessity. It is a great tool to use, but it also promotes risky and somtimes out right bad habits of just tanking attacks because you can rather then fully learning the game and how to doge, work around bosses, and things of that nature. Sorry for the late response had to sit on why I disagree with what youre saying as I could'nt find the words.I think that method of aproching the game is great if you just want to knock it out, but there is so much fun to be had in learing how to interact with enemies without getting hit and getting as flashy as you can doing it. I also know that each experince with this game is different for everyone. Some people love the hatchets, but I find it hard to connect with the weapon no matter how I use them. I love the split staffs maneuverability, but I know a lot of people find it boring. I think the most important part is that you enjoy the game, and honestly this is just to get you throught the first couple of areas until you start getting more confident with the different types of enemies.

    • @jasonchotard9750
      @jasonchotard9750 10 місяців тому

      @@Trugrim You're missing the point, I don't recommend dual sword for any gameplay reason, the mystic art is required for 100% mission completion. A new player isn't going to know that the game doesn't actually start until NG+, they will try to get all the missions on their first run. So while you are correct in that there are many ways to approach this game(it's what keeps me coming back), if your going to finish all the missions, and get all of the guardian spirits you have to have dual sword mystic art.

      @@Trugrim I read back my comment and I'm pretty disgusted, I was a lot ruder to you than I should have been so that's a mistake on my part. I'm sorry about that.
      I would love to chat more about it, I think I have pointers I could share with you! I understand what you mean about ki pressure and clipping your ki pulse to lead to quicker actions to be aggressive. I used to play like that too and I think it made me worse because I realized that it came from a fear of the enemy reacting to me and killing me suddenly. I have many, many hours in the game, and I still play it just casually for fun to this day. There's a lot of stuff I've picked up on that I don't see in any youtube videos, and I often get tips vids in my UA-cam feed for Nioh 2 and I watch them out of curiosity to see if anyone else notices the things that I do. Maybe that sounds a bit pretentious but I would strongly argue that the majority of people who play this game, especially the people I see on UA-cam, do not actually understand how to play Nioh 2, and you can see it in the way they manage their ki and how fast they play. Nioh 2 is an absolutely beautiful masterpiece of a game, and what makes it so beautiful is exactly what you don't see on UA-cam.
      It's a lot to talk about on a UA-cam comment but if you want to swap me your discord, if you even still play Nioh 2 or you're curious to talk more about it, I would love to talk to you in DM and share with you what I know about it :) Again, really sorry about my comment. It came across ruder than it should've, and I think for me it comes from a place of seeing the same types of tips and advice that UA-camrs give new players, and it more often than not can result in players cheesing the game, or playing it in a way that leads to beating the game rather than actually learning it so well that you can play it forever and never lose the fun.
      Anyways, let me know if you'd wanna talk more about it. I would love to share! I could never stop talking about the game lmao, it's my fav of all time

    • @Trugrim

      @ as far as your apology goes, you’re fine.
      You’re passionate and that’s a good thing although it did leave me feeling pretty defensive at first I won’t lie, it’s just conversation but I appreciate your open vulnerability to say “hey I didn’t like how I acted”
      I on the other hand don’t like how I instantly got defensive as well so let’s just call it even.
      As far as everything else you’re talking about I think it just appears to me that you understand the game differently than most people do. I don’t necessarily think playing the game fast or slow is wrong and while my tips may seem generic it was just a little passion piece as this game feels overwhelming to new players.
      I had a cousin I wanted to get into the game so that led to this video. It’s a “cheesy” strategy and pretty straightforward but it’s something to rely on while you learn the game. It also lends itself to a RELIABLE strategy of finding moves that devastate Ki and keep up on the pressure.
      I think cheesing the game is how MOST people play the game and beat it. Whoever wants to explore the game after and find out its mechanics will do so as they understand the game better. The game (for most people) kinda piles on all these mechanics that don’t make sense by themselves and I’ve heard and seen many people drop the game based on that.
      The game deserves to be beaten even if you don’t want to be a comboing savant or in your case it seems you like to control the battle field with excellent ki control.
      I personally learned the game by taking a super slow approach but quickly found that I personally like comboing a lot and doing risky things. I also played a lot with high courage and the courage 150 bonus for a long time to keep up the pressure for my style of play.
      It is a common way to play the game, but the beauty is the combos look different for everyone and that’s the part I like the most.
      It seems like you have a unique view on the game though and you’re very passionate I seriously SERIOUSLY consider that you try to put those in a video or some sort of medium for the world to see.
      As they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I like the idea of freedom and flow in combat and I express that through constantly canceling my movements with more movement be it yokai counter, yokai abilities or item canceling.
      My favorite tech is probably the dash cancel as it can lead to some pretty fun movement .
      The fighting games I tend to play don’t limit what you do in a given moveset TOO much of course too much freedom and you kinda just get flat out broken mess.
      Not a fan of street fighter at at a competitive level as canceling moves there’s often special rules and conditions for each cancel. Same thing with mortal kombat (the newest one) there’s just a lack of options.
      My discord is grimmoura or grimmoura. Idk how discord works I hardly use it lol.
