Resident Evil 4 - Pro Mode Guide - Tips & Tricks

- Опубліковано 28 чер 2024
- Professional Mode for Resident Evil 4's campaign can prove daunting for some. After the success of my Mercenaries guides, many people requested that I make a general guide for Pro mode.
In this video I will explain useful strategies and tricks for improving your gameplay, I will show the best ways to deal with each boss along with key fights against the regular enemies.
This video also contains the locations of all the treasures along with the shooting gallery challenges, to help with farming money for weapons and their respective upgrades.
Speaking of weapons, I also provide you with a weapon roadmap for what you should and shouldn't upgrade based on your preferences.
This guide is not exhaustive and will not cover every single fight in the game, but I hope it explains everything well enough to help those who are struggling and perhaps teach a couple new things some players may not know about.
Below are the time-stamps of key moments so you can jump to whichever part you need, though I do recommend watching the whole guide.

Yep, that was a huge help, to new and experience players, specifically in water room in chapter 3-1, this not only hard, but struggling.

@@Sarcosuchas it took 3-6 attempts to complete it, sometimes 8 attempts.

I've been playing this game since 2006, and this video just goes to show how much I still don't know about it. Great work as usual.
Thanks ^^
Same here. I'm currently on my 14th or so playthrough since 2006. And yesterday is the first time that I ever noticed there is a stair leading to Salazars balcony.
Same here, for the most part. The only difference is that I've been playing this game since 2010 (admittedly behind my parent's back at a friends house, since my friend and I were only 10 at the time.)
This game is so good. Play it once a year
you have been a noob since 2006?
Something I didn't realize as a kid playing this on my GameCube is just how useful the flash grenades are. They seriously make any group of those head parasites incredibly easy, especially that room with the six knights for the King's Grail.
Yeah, they can be very handy for clutch moments or to save ammo.
I've never thought to go back into the church after getting Ashley. 18 years and this game still surprises me.
Yep, even I'm still learning things
In the Two Gigantes fight, if you use the rocket launcher, you can kill the second with the lava trap. Skip the cut scene, run out of the room and back. If you are quick the money from the kill will be on top of the trap and you can get it before it despawns.
I wasn't aware of that. Handy to know.
Pointless coz the launcher costs 30000
@@wajster2959 Not pointless as at this point you should have plenty of money
@@Sarcosuchas yeah but ur not making your money back

By the time I reached the final Saddler fight on pro, i had 18 G/R/Y heals, 6 first aid sprays, and 300,000 cash after i fully upgraded broken butterfly. I was super stingy during the entire playthrough and rarely ever upgraded my weapons (unless if I needed the ammo). I still made out like a bandit. It honestly does help to leave/return load areas and to reload checkpoints to manipulate enemy spawns in harder areas. Especially if you're dying a lot/taking a lot of damage. That's how I was able to stockpile a lot of stuff throughout most of the game.
Exploiting mechanics like that is always a handy thing to do
how do you guys save so much in pro mode
even after following this guide my loot is left very scarce
although it can be due to the version of game I am playing. It's the gamecube which I am playing on pc with mouse and keyboard it is really difficult to aim in it

Many thanks ^^
I would recommend this guide. Beat pro mode years ago and looking back at it, playing this game again on the switch and watching this vid I can agree that the tips and tricks given from this video can help players beat pro mode.
Much appreciated, thanks
I got to the part where you have to run away from Salazars Giant Statue on pro. Its impossible to hit the buttons to JUMP at the end. Any tips please???
@@TheRomanVictor Change how you hold the controller, perhaps. It's perfectly possible to do that QTE
@@Sarcosuchas I stopped playing Re4 for about a month. after you replied to my comment I picked up the game again and got it done in 2 tries. you are the best! I subscribed to you as a thank you.
@@TheRomanVictor Glad to hear it ^^
In the water room, a good method is to have Ashley wait on the downstairs door’s left. Doing so causes the enemies to target her and get stuck on the door, allowing you to easily headshot enemies with the sniper
Hadn't considered that one
this is the best guideline i've come across. i never knew you could defeat el gigante with a few grenades and a blast from the shotgun, then slashing his plaga.
i always used the tmp with the stock and went all out.
nice one sarco!
Thanks a lot ^^
You can knife enemies through wooden doors if you make a small hole, but there are less wooden doors as you get to late game. Very useful for the first village fight.
For the twin chainsaw sisters, they get stuck behind the explosive barrels. You can lure every enemy there to kill everyone with one bullet.
At novistadores first encounter, you can kill them with a single rifle headshot while they're waiting to ambush you (or be ambushed lmao).
The two giants after the fossil mine can be killed even easier. Drop one in the lava and the second can be cheesed by climbing the ladder and jump down before he shakes the platform. You'll have time for few knife slashes before climbing up again.
For Saddler, you can shoot anywhere with a minethrower to expose his weak spot. Buy one and upgrade only capacity.
Striker is arguably the best shotgun in the game. Higher damage, faster firing rate, takes less space, wide spread will take down everything in front of you. You don't want to snipe with shotguns anyway.
@@mbatistas I generally used the normal shotgun and upgraded it I’d say it works well although I have never bothered to use the mine thrower although I might use it now after hearing what you said.
I would like to thank you cause this video inspires me to beat professional. I normally play in normal mode and after beating the game and collecting some secrets or unlockable I move on the next game. After many tens of hours playing and dying and reloading check points I manage to beat it and man I was so proud of my self beating it. Thanks for the tips and inspiration your video gives me.
Happy to hear it ^^
Learning to use handgun, shotgun, knife and melee appropriately can really improve odds in pro. Handgun for ranged melee setups, shotgun for crowd clearing and plagas and knife in various applications for ammo conservation. Running instead of unnecessary engagement is good too. That and using certain exploits (not necessarily glitches) can really make professional doable.
Precisely
This is the best, smartest, most accurate and thorough help video i've ever watched on any game, ever!! Thanks a lot!! Helped me finish pro which otherwise wouldn't.. Thank you so much for this guide, it helped me so much dude. It's a great guide and also a great video, thanks for ur hard work on that!
Happy to hear it ^^
I'm surprised you'd skip the TMP, I'd say it's the best weapon of the game, both able to set up kick/knife combos like a handgun, do crowd control like a shotgun and it has extremely high DPS if you just unload it on (mini)bosses like a magnum. You can even use the Stock to make it stable and let it work accurately at a medium range, meaning you can substitute it for the rifle in a pinch. The game hands out ammo for it like candy as well, both from prefixed drops as well as random drops when you have about 200 or less total bullets. I usually run TMP, a pistol, a shotgun and a rifle and never really miss out on the magnum.
TMP just doesn't suit my playstyle really. Not to say it isn't a good weapon or anything, of course.
Man created a. Paragraph
same. tmp is the unsung hero of pro mode. I usually sell the magnum right after I get the kings grail bc thats the only time I ever really use it.
tbh once you get the semi auto rifle betweeen capacity upgrades and the way they throw rifle ammo at you compared to magnum ammo the semi auto rifle is my magnum
mine thrower is also horrible under rated since its better as a tool vs a weapon
I've done runs without handguns, substituting TMP in its role and I gotta say it's not too shabby. I think it better fits a melee-centric playstyle like mine rather than a spraying playstyle.
@@Sarcosuchas On the subject of the TMP, does anyone know why you constantly get ammo for it when you don't own the gun?
This helped me finally get through Professional especially for the last two chapters. Thank you for the guide! Hope there’s another one for RE4 Remake

The work that probably went into this guide is insane wow! It's been 2 years or so since my last Pro run and I have definitely forgotten some things and gotten rusty. If only I would have found the guide a bit earlier hehe because god the Water room took me over an hour to do (should have went for Special outfit 2 but oh well).
Also not sure if this is more optimal or anything but during Praying Cultists at 35:53, I threw 1 hand grenade killing every single one of the cultists except the one in the red and by the time he got up and was trying to run for the door they closed.
That being said, thanks a lot for the guide!
Thanks ^^
How the cultists are dealt with is a matter of preference. Personally I like to conserve as much power ammo, including grenades, as possible. So flashing then knifing is how I tend to do it.
I have actually found that that the TMP is really good for dealing with dogs. The shotgun doesn't seem to be a guaranteed stun, and that brief window can cost a lot of health. The TMP basically stunlocks them though. But I love the TMP so maybe I'm biased.
TMP deals 40% extra damage to the dogs just like it does to the regular Ganados.
@@Sarcosuchas Huh, even better. So many little oddities in this game.
I JUST found out the hard way that sometimes the dogs will shrug off the riot gun, God damn

Bro thank you so much for this near flawless guide. Also the water room fight can be made easier by making ashley wait near one staircase and bottlenecking the others by hugging a corner.
You're very welcome ^^
This is an amazing guide! I have never EVER not bought and upgraded the first guns before the castle. I was left with over 350,000 PTAS at 3-2. Something else I used to do too was this. For the dogs at the maze. If you have the BlackTail and Riot Gun maxed out at the point you’re at in the game, 1 Riot Gun shot and 1 BlackTail shot kills 1 dog. So you don’t have to use 2 shotgun shells per dog. I’m not sure how much this helps, but thank you for the guide! Extremely informative. Im never buying the Rifle or TMP at the start again. Maybe the TMP if I want to have a little fun
Edit: about the 1 shotgun shot and 1 BlackTail shot. Lemme rephrase. I didn’t “used” to do it. I still do.
Thank you very much ^^ I'm glad you learned new things ^^
@@skypemee4040 Yes, it's better
But it's not required to use it, The moment you have the weapons available in the castle, Ganados get significantly easier.

I actually only died 6 times on pro mode (3 to the salazar statue QTE, the other 3 to random BS). Quick resume on xbox really messed me up though, it kept counting game hours even when the xbox was off so my game time ended up being like 60 hours
Thank you for this guide, it really helped me to get 100% trophies on PS5! Hardest parts for me were 2 garradors fight, helicopter 2nd part fight and I also had some struggles with final saddler fight so I’ve bought a rocket launcher, afterwards some magnum bullets took care of him!

I remeber playing professional for the first time after multiple runs on normal for many years. Knifed enemies to death, saved alot of ammo for major fights, upgrading my favorite shotgun for the 100 ammo capacity, even saving the free rocket launcher for Salazar. (yes, i fought his right hand man the hard way, surprisingly i didnt die) The whole time, i was thinking i was gonna die to bosses, enemies i hated facing, even the final boss. I had plenty of close calls but i beat the game with only 1 death. Was it the Bella Sisters? No. How about the 2 El Gigantes? Nope. The constant traps, dynamite, and headaches that came with it? Nah. Oh, Regenerators, right? Hell no, those bastards were easy. What killed me was the fucking QTE cutscene of knife fighting Krauser!!! ALL BECAUSE I PUSHED THE WRONG DAMN BUTTON!!! Lol
Can relate to this lol
@@hardrandom4498 Not on the older ports.
Same as you , I keep restart this game because of Krauser QTE . Feel like you need some stimulant to predict what Button will press even the worse one scenario . Also getting distracted always end up Leon dead whenever you press the right button .
Great guide bro. Just a few tips I'd like to share as well if that's fine with you:
Tmp is very effective against El Gigante, just use a flash bang and spray. And since you get like almost loads amount of tmp you shouldn't have a problem with ammo
The fight with the three armarduras (not sure how it's spelled) is pretty easy, that's where the mine thrower come into play. You need to line them up in a group however you can then when it's safe you can shoot a mine at them then keep your distance. Once all the plaga are out use the flash (obviously) then repeat.
Tmp is also great with JJ. Same tactic with El Gigante, flash then tmp. The only difference is that JJ will never flinch so long as you aim only below his stomach.
This one I can't say it's for beginners though but if you feel like you're already good at the game I'd consider selling ammo, heals and your free rocket launcher for more ptas.
And lastly, for resident evil 4, there's always only two qte sequence, for the xbox it will always land on X and A or the LT and RT if I'm wrong then it would be LB and RB but I doubt it. So if there is a part in the game where it forces you to do a qte your best bet is to just mash both sequence repeatedly. (Not sure for the PS though, I know it's square and X but for the bumper and triggers... not so sure. But I know it's one of them)
Anywho by the looks of it, you probably already know that, bro! Great guide again, I really enjoyed watching! It certainly will help players for pro mode. Lol to me pro is just easy now.
P.S: hope this helps for some people
Thanks ^^ And yeah, your tips may help some other players too.
They're called garadors and there's not any point in the game where you fight 3 of them at once. There's one part where you have to fight two at once but other than that it's either by itself or with cultists in that room with the cage.
@@terry85mar I meant the 3 knights in the room. They're called armarduras i think. The 2 garradors before you fight verdugo are easy too on professional but I didn't mean those two lol
Just kiss me al ready daddy

You're very welcome ^^
Thanks for this guide man you did an incredible job!

Also lastly I just wanna point out, in the canyon fight you don’t even need to fight any of the enemy’s. Just run , dodge and scream “bye bye” as Dante would say and grab each half key from the chests and go. I understand what you mean by saying the ladder is the easiest way but I say the “Nike technique” is definitely the fastest and isn’t too terribly hard.
It does run the highest risk of getting killed due to the multiple dynamite ganado though
I love the Dante reference!
I love the guide but I would also love to know the reason behind your gun selection and how it fits into your strategy.
I explained that in the guide though.
Blacktail or Red9 for dexterity/damage.
Riot Gun for damage concentration
SAR for its speed
Broken Butterfly for its exclusive and because its free to collect in the castle.
Insanely well made guide. I played this games many times, and after 100% the remake i had the urge to go back and finnaly try professional.
Many thanks ^^
I completed pro mode when I was 11-12 it was a crazy achievement for me because I couldn’t imagine playing it. My first attempt I had run out of ammo and completely stuck for months so I just reset my entire game and played it more tactically and that prl412 was completely worth it
Great video, lots of useful tips. Although I’m not sure why you decided to use armored Ashley’s costume. It’s kind of an easy mode, I always considered it a NG+ type of thing
Because the entire point of the guide is to make life easier for those who may struggle. Hence why I recommend unlocking it so they don't need to worry about her.

Thank you, friend. You helped me a lot. Despite the fact that I am a Russian-speaker and do not understand English, I perfectly understood the whole guide. It made my first walkthrough very easy. I wish success to your channel in the future.
That means a lot to me, many thanks ^^
For the second village visit, which is after meeting the Big Cheese, a way to get a bunch of easy kills is to go to the house with the metal door, directly across form the Shotgun house, and once your in, make a hole in the door. Make sure two chunks breaks off the door. This'll let you knife THROUGH the door, but the stops the Ganados from attacking you, instead attempting to open the door instead. Make the hole too big, however, and the WILL attack you through the door, so don't make it bigger than it needs to be. This can be done with all wooden doors, but its best use case is here where Plagas can't spawn, as Type One's can hit you in their flailing about. Type Two's and Three's you're probably fine against, IF you can find a wooden door.
In 2-1, if you go back to the way towards The Swamp, a bunch of Wolves will attack you. You can then run back to the boat and Harpoon them for their loot. There's also some handgun ammo in the house with the typewriter I'm pretty sure. And for the cave merchant in the lake you should be able to knife the torch that has the spinel by climbing onto the roof instead of wasting two handgun/TMP ammo on it. Not too important but ammo's ammo. Just remember to pick it up afterwards as you leave.
For the Chainsaw Sisters you want to skip their cutscenes so you can gain control back on Leon before they finish their Spawn In animations, buying you more time to run away and set up. Otherwise deal with them however you want.
A tip for the sword room is to run upstairs and grab the gold sword first, then run quickly back downstairs before the enemy's spawn in. After you've safely delt/reset the upstairs enemies, you can swap the swords at the bottom, and then run back up and open the door before reinforcements comes, saving you ammo and health.
I gotta try that harpoon trick. Those dogs are an absolute bitch to kill in the Village. One bite and you're practically dead.
For the regenerators there's actually an easier way to knife 'em, and it's simple enough that I find it less stressful than targetting the plagas in tight spaces. You just shotgun a leg off, backstep a little, make them miss their first legless hop towards you, and then proceed to stunlock them with the knife. In order to stunlock consistently though those knife slashes _have_ to be mid-torso, 'cause if you're too low at the legs or too high at the head the regenerator has the ability to pounce up still.
Some folk can consistently stun lock the iron maidens, but I ain't one of 'em. For iron maidens I definitely prefer the thermal scope + semi-auto sniper combo.
Stun-locking the iron maidens is pretty easy, just need to bait the first spike thrust.
I chose to show the knifing of regenerators from behind because a lot of new players will not get the distance right for the pounce and get bitten attempting your method.
Tremendous guide, greatly appreciated.
Many thanks ^^

I'm mostly just doing it so that when I get to Round 2 I can afford all of the special weapons without much effort. Plus, I've just played this game so many times, it's just kind of a funny way to spend my time; kind of like hitting level 100 on the island in KH1
@@vvwyvernvv4146 Fair enough; though I do find that by finding all the treasures and being conservative with which weapons you upgrade, when I reach round 2 I always have a good 2-3 million.
Glad to know I’m not the only person insane enough to do that.
Perfect guide to watch with food. Look at those health items that you have in the end thanks to knight Ashley & you still have cash leftover after buying the upgrades, cases, & maps that you wanted.
1:47:10 Never seen that flip before.
Yeah, the game gives more than enough money to suit just about any playstyle if you plan ahead a little.
Yeah, I should do a video on flipping the jetski, since there's the flip and the roll.
Loved the video, really informative.
Glad to hear it ^^
2 guides of yours have saved my life now, I owe you two lives now.
Glad to hear it ^^
My favorite and best weapon is the TMP. I shoot in the head or leg, then melee. High ammo count, low cost, high versatility. And it's also a boss shredder. It
It is a good weapon, I just don't tend to use it
@@skypemee4040 its too good
@6:43
I am surprised you didn't buy the bolt action rifle for the valley area.
It upgrades to be super powerful, with the only negative being the slow rate of fire, and the bolt animation. With the bolt action, you don't even need to try for head shots.
I see no need for it, honestly. And the firing rate of the SAR is preferable for areas such as the Water Hall
That's actually why I always pick the bolt-action rifle-well, that and its smaller size.
Best RE4 guide out there! Thank you!
Glad you think so! ^^
Great video it helped me a lot!
Glad to hear it ^^
If I’m being completely honest, pro mode is really not that much harder than easy or normal.
True, but some will feel the difficulty increase more than others
The biggest difference to me is that sometimes you can die in one hit while your hp bar is still green if it's low enough, which has caught me off guard a few times xD (I think often times you're left with 1hp first on normal, right?) but if you're good at the game, you'll probably play on the highest version of normal quite often, and in that case I agree (still an enjoyable difficulty doe xD)
@@unsavourylittlerunt That's a good point, in this video there's a moment I do nearly die
Well I thought with the krasuer boss they actually wayyyyyy insanely upped his hp and not everyone can master the cheese knife technique. I’ve died literally over 60 times on that boss fight on professional and I’ve been playing re4 for years since GameCube
@@octobercameron786 There's not much to master with the knife. Mangum his feet, knife him and keep it up unless he hits you; then magnum him again, rinse and repeat.
Daaaaaaayum this is a long @ss video
But it's great tho
Not easy to condense the entire game down into under 2 hours lol
@@Sarcosuchas even speedrunners struggle to put it under 1h lmao
@@Chloey780 True, so I've managed to put a guide for all areas into that timeframe.
@@Sarcosuchas a real legend doesn't speedrun, they make a full in-depth guide of every single part of the main game in less than 2h
@@Chloey780 Yes xD
Wow i watched the whole thing in a day. 👍Great job!
Thanks ^^
Even though we all play the game a bit differently, this guy has the best strategy I’ve ever seen so far. Nice work
Many thanks ^^
Very cool and helpful guide, thank you 🙌
You're welcome ^^
Really great guide! Thanks a million
You're very welcome ^^
thank you, because of you I passed this challenge very easily. keep the spirit my friend😁
Glad to hear it ^^
Hope you make a guide like this but for the remake when you get the chance, your explanations and edits makes this guide very straight to the point.
Of course ^^
Thanks for this vid, i was scared of the Trophey but this guide showed me that everyone can do it 👍🏼
Glad I could help ^^
Your separate ways tips made the game easier than the last time i played it in 2014 you're the best
Glad to hear it ^^
Crazy good guide! Thank you so much. :3
You're welcome ^^
Thank you so much for the guide! I loved this game as kid and now I'm playing as an adult, I don't think I would have ever even tried professional mode of it weren't for your guide. Can't wait for my next run through so I can buy the typewriter and have some fun with that.
Glad to hear it has been helpful ^^
Your watermark at the bottom right matching up with the health bar is a really cool touch to the video.
Thanks ^^
You deserve a lot more respect for this extremely beneficial video you earned this sub
Many thanks ^^
Very useful video, thanks!

Thanks for the guide. I just beat RE4 on Professional thanks to you. You da Man Sarcosuchas!

Very glad to hear it ^^

Glad to help ^^
Love the video completed loads off times this video going to help more now
Thanks ^^
@@Sarcosuchas let's get ready for re 4 remake can't wait
This video reminds me of BigBangGamer's old guides, though shortened into one long video
Really good and entertaining, man!
Thanks ^^
I’ve beaten this game more times than I can even count. And I’ve never noticed the brass pocket watch.
You learn something new everyday ^^
Thanks For the tips helped a lot in tuff situations 💯💯💯
Glad it helped ^^
Fantastic video. Bravo.
Thanks ^^
Thanks for this video, it's really useful, many tactics I didn't know, completed pro ages back but on old pc game, I downloaded the new version on steam and started all over again, currently on chapter 4 pro.
Glad to hear it ^^
Thank you very much for your tipe and trick
You're welcome ^^
This really helped me a lot thank you
Glad to hear it ^^
Thought I knew the game in and out, you showed me at least 3 different treasures I've never heard of b4. The Antique Pipe, the scepter, and one of the red gems for the mask
Glad to know you learned something new today ^^
Thank for ur all informations 😀
You're welcome ^^
Thank you. Thank you so, so, much. I wasn't sure I'd ever be able to beat Professional Mode, but I just managed it thanks to your guide.
I'm bad, so I never had the stock of grenades and healing items, and I was struggling so badly for ammo that I was forced to pull out the Broken Butterfly a few times during the final large ganados battle, but I still pulled it off. So, again, thank you so much.
Glad to hear it ^^
@@Sarcosuchas I had to make SO many concessions when it came to money and treasure: I skipped the extra Dr. Salvador in the village and the Ganados route after the cabin sequence, and I used the ammo refill from capacity upgrades to conserve ammo. I died 37 times, 8 of those to the final stage of Krauser and 6 to Mendez, and I had to resort to the rocket launcher against Salazar (for some reason, he's always given me fits).
Ironically, the notorious Water Room and Novistadore levels were some of the easiest for me. Saddler also went down like a chump--I only had 2 hand grenades, but I only needed to knock him down 5 times, 3 hits with the Broken Butterfly and 2 with the knife, before Ada tossed me the rocket launcher special.
But, now I get to revel in my reward and have my revenge via the P.R.L. My only regret now is that I'm not quite good enough for your guides to get me through 5-star Mercenaries, lol (the guides are excellent, I've just found that I'm not good enough to pull things off).
@@maileesaeya3614 Mercenaries just requires practice, so just keep cracking at it with my guides and other videos (high score runs and such) to see how it's done.
