I combined the IKEA LAGKAPTEN with the IKEA KRILLE feet to be able to move the table around.
Having a fixed overhead camera setup can be very useful for content creator who are creating unboxing or similar top down content. This video will demonstrate how I built my overhead camera rig for unboxing videos.
This overhead camera rig setup is built in a way that does not require you to have seperate stands and tripods next to your table to hold your camera or lights. Everything is mounted to a table which can be moved around with ease.

Have you created an overhead camera shot before? How did you do it? Let's share some ideas!
I'm creating a similar set up and am definitely taking inspiration from this video. Just set up the classic Ikea 2 Alex drawer + Karlby countertop to use as my PC desk and unboxing table this past weekend! Taking the overhead camera approach for unboxing videos to start. Elgato products are sooooo good, totally worth the price. I'll be investing in them later. Got a mic arm and light in my save for later at the moment. Thank you for sharing this :) it is very helpful for new and seasoned content creators
Nice video! Straight to the point and really good suggestions as to what gear to use.
I'm so glad I stumbled into this video i had a similar idea to start my Unboxing video content, but i wasn't sure the 2 key lights on the side would really work. Imma give it a try, thanks for this behind the scenes it really inspired me. 🔥

Damn, that Lagkapten is $50US now. 50% price increase in just 2 years
hey just found this super helpful! would be curious what your settings for the keylights are (kelvin and brightness)? Would be awesome to get a answer :)!
Temperature is matching the camera settings set to daylight at 55. Brightness is around 40% on the fill and 60% on the key light.
Awesome info
Glad it was helpful!
Can you try Ulanzi Vijim LS08
Can you send me one?
Greenbox, what type of mic you recommend buying that can fit with Elgato Master Mount ?
I would recommend a wave mic arm over the Master mount as the master mount is not very flexible.
With the Wave mix Arm i can recommend either the elgato wave usb mics or if you want to get a higher end mic the rode pro caster with a shock mount in combination with the Elgato Wave XLR.
Rode Pro caster: amzn.to/3QP22R8
Schock mount: amzn.to/3xwUjjA
Elgato Wave XLR interface: amzn.to/3dmYGXO
sehr guets video👌🏼 erst bi de ikea prise gmerkt das wahrschinlech ir schwiz lebsch
Surpriiiise! 🎉
would a regular white table top work for unboxing video?
It would be suboptimal as the light color reflects a lot of light. Resulting in the background clipping and be plain white with no texture. (Unless you stop down the camera to a point where the product will be much too dark).
what is the Cheapest Camera I could use for this setup (while still having a great video quality)
Probably your current phone.
What lens do you use for the overhead rig?
It depends on how close I need to get to the object on the table. For this demonstration, I used the kit lens of the Sony a6300 which is a zoom lens.
Hello, can I use the Elgato Mount with iPhone? I would like to shoot videos for my child with toys of various kinds. Thank you
It depends on your iPhone. The ElgatoElgato Multi Mount PHONE GRIP should hold most models but to make sure check the product page first.
Hello, thank you for your answer. I purchased the recommended Elgato setup, but I'm literally going mad trying not to have shadows on the desk. Could you please tell me if I need additional lights or what brightnes and kelvin to set?
Great video mate. Tip: If you want the center lit, go ahead and put a basic ring light on your camera's cold shoe. _Viola._
I tried to avoid ring lights as long as possible.. 🙈
Hello, I want to take this type of shots. But once you add up the materials, it costs almost $4000. good system. I want to try unboxing style videos. Do you think this is worth the investment?
Your channel has no videos therefor you are not making any money with the video therefor it is not worth spending money. the question is do you WANT to spend money.
please share the result bro,

Argh! I don't wanna build shit, dude! Don't they have ready-to-use kits?! You'd think market research would know that I'm not the only one looking for something like this, so such a kit would be out there already.
Nah no kits available to my knowledge.

I don't know how you get to $4000> this setup excluding the camera is about 350 - $400 max.
As to if it's worth it. If you make more money with the setup then You spend it's worth it. If you don't it's not., simple as that.
