Not curious, courteous. Even if it's a messed up, hacked up, dog chow of a piece of work... it costs nothing to be nice, and some people like to be that way.
A few people asked how they could support the channel in an additional way in my last video, which is extremely kind and appreciated 😊 The best way to support is of course to watch, comment and share the video as much as you can with someone who you think would enjoy the content, but there are a few extra ways to go a step further if you want to 😊 The first would be using any of the affiliated links in the description, this helps a tonne. You can even pin them as a homepage for your browser, and navigate to whichever item you're wanting to purchase that isn't related, and I'll still get a little kick back from the commission for no extra cost to you 😊 Secondly, you can link your Twitch account to your Amazon Prime subscription and use that on the Joey Does Tech Twitch channel completely free of charge here ▶ www.twitch.tv/joeydoestechofficial Lastly you can hit the "Join" button under the UA-cam video to become a UA-cam Member and receive additional content from myself every now and again. As well as access to some videos a little bit earlier than the normal schedule 😊 I won't continue harping on about this again for a while, I just saw an opportunity to answer a few questions from the previous video in a pinned comment 😁 Again watching the video is already enough to support me, these are all additional ways. Have a great weekend, and hopefully we can get back into that green margin! 🎉🎄 EDIT: I said episode 34 at the beginning, it’s 44 😂
hey is it possible if you could make videos about the psp's like buying broken ones and fix them up they're really cheep right now i think that would make a good video
Joey, I think a good in-between educational video would be to do a video on how to do trace repairs. Which iron tip, heat, wires used, etc. I do struggle with trace repairs myself and would appreciate a video like that
hi Joey keep up the good work. if you have a unpatched switch lying around,. take the emmc and boot hakate and see if the emmc boots from the first switch also you really need to replace m92 as that can go bad without symptoms I would also say after seeing all the video. you'd get more spiltin the oled screen. and the oled mobo.
I'm constantly impressed how many DIY people just don't bother cleaning up their work after they're done butchering (i mean 'fixing') a board. Just on this channel alone, almost every item that has had 'previous work' done, has been a complete mess. Kudo's to you for not ripping your hair out and having a massive rant about lazy, ham fisted, self proclaimed technicians mutilating boards then selling them on eBay as spares or repair.
in the OLED switch the "technician" put a non-oled USB-C port, using a butan gas soldering iron maybe... nice work Joey! Keep up your nice content and regards from Italy. Good luck and I wish you a beautiful 2024.
For the second switch, you can run enmailed wired from the back of the board to the hidden pins. Then you can solder the visible pins as you did before
Ive just attempted my first port repair, inspired by yourself..... and i didnt think i could come across anyone worse than mine until i saw this "repair!" 😂😂😂 If theyre a technician then i also class myself as one to! I will go again until i have fixed my console 😅
Suggestion for your trace repair: wrap the bottom wires around the edge of the board and apply the mask to add extra stability and near zero chance the wire traces will move during port replacement. Hope this helps.
I had a little brucey bonus for Xmas, chap I bought the £4 Xbox One off of which worked, said he felt so guilty about selling me a broken Xbox sent me a complete working motherboard and disc daughterboard gratis, I said I was going to send it back and he was nope, if you can make use of it then have it with his blessing O.o Restored a great deal of faith in humanity so I sent him a nice watch a decent Seiko too, an old one so not a crap one and waiting to hear when he gets it in the post in the new year :D
I found your channel recently, and I do really enjoy it, I found.... courage? Interest? I'm not sure how to call it, but now i fix my own stuff. Please do more different electronics like TV's, kitchen appliances? I watched some of your older videos, and I must know, how did you go from Kit Harington look to Jason Statham?
I'm always amazed to see what damage people can cause with a simple soldering iron.. And I'm also amazed to hear what they thought was gonna happen after their "repair"😂 Especially the owner of the console at 14:30
Also if the emmc is broken it will charge at this rate (it's the slow charge). But if the emmc is broken it will boot into rcm mode, which is not the case here.
I'm surprised that you didn't swap out the M92T36 IC, as that is a usual suspect. Unless you already did of course. But I think that would be one of the first things to try.
that 15v passthrough pin wire, is that thick enough for the current thats going to be running through it while quick charging? personally, im a total noob but i would have doubled or triple-ran that just because im a coward.
Personally i would taken a little more time on the port (pulling it again) and see if you can sell It as a docking OLED switch. Time is money. Agreed. Think your to close to call it completely!
when repairing tracks on a pcb you can use your solder wick fray the ends and use a small blow lamp to melt the ends . then pull a strand with a copper ball on and use a small hammer on the ball and copper wire you will get a perfect flat disc and a small flat trace that can be glued to pcb making a perfect repair?
Another good video joey , I notice in your spread sheet that your ebay fees are 6.9% i know it does not really matter but my fees are 13% ish how doe you get your to be 6.9
When I ordered a Nintendo switch lite, used, tested from ebay, the screen would not turn on when it was charging/ fully charged, I did a hard reset on the system, held the power switch for 30 seconds and it started. Could just be a simple capacitor issue.
that was an usb-c port for a normal nintendo switch 😂 as you see it doesn't fit very well.... poor console 😅 i've used a normal switch usb-c port as well but only for testing because at that time i haven't got a new port for the oled version in stock so i had to improvise to see if the console was working or not.
@@gladiorosso9816 nah...

i saw some time ago someone using resin to glue new pads on the pcb, could it work woth that oled? tbh, it was a beautiful job the previous technician you menioned, that pig who destroyed that pcb by using it as a training board does not deserve to be called a technician, he is not
.... So? Any idea how many vintage hifi components I repaired and serviced for other people and myself which cost me money? Even if this is your main income... Have you ever walked into a shop where you were faced with a datasheet explaining how much loss or profit is made on the product you bought? There's a very good reason why you don't do that.. Once you figure out why that is..
Just out of curiosity: Do you factor in any Dollar number for an hour of your work? So he doesn't care about how much time he spends as long as he gets back to life. But anyone else should because that's an important "investment" as well!
Why don't you get copper traces an use them instead of copper wire. Also, connector ground pads/holes are usually soldered after, not before you put connector in for the exact reason you reflowed connector multiple times
Man this port looked so bad. This is the result of people looking youtube videos, who think "Hey that looks easy, i can swap the port by myself!. But they underestimate how tiny those traces are. Under the microscope they look big, but in real they are so tiny.. i mean soooooo tiny! Have changed an hdmi port on one of my graphics cards, and this was not easy. It looks easy if someone skilled doing it, but if you do it by yourself, it is very hard without practice.
Surely you test known good components on the switch which isn't powering up rather than putting unknown working status components into a known good switch. Then you will only blow a known good chip and not a whole known good switch ...?
Can I tell Jake about Elwood or it could be just another egotistical thing?! I don't know. Blame those interns with Obi-2077 links, don't try to fix me. Namastè.
You can tell right away the listing was dishonest. If you buy a working Switch for £150-£200 then you don't sell it when it doesn't work, you go and get your money back. This is what sane people do unless they buy something very dodgy from a dodgy ad placed by a dodgy person....

"Keep going" Joey, you are honest(my opinion from what i saw till now) and i think that's what will bring success to your channel.
For the second switch, you can run enmailed wired from the back of the board to the hidden pins. Then you can solder the visible pins as you did before
@Joey
On switch one there is a bad (black tinted) cap near the backlight connector. Maybe that's the problem!
Wow, that thing was butchered af!
Great repair sir.
Keep moving forth, Joey. 'Cause you do Tech 🙂
Thank you for straightening the signs. That was driving me nuts lol
Watching JDT on phone and Carry on up the Kyhber on ITV3 life couldn’t get much funnier
That's a hairy port lol. Great vids right up there with tronix fix and NB Fix!
Good luck for your future career joey. Well done on the step up cant wait to see the future videos.
Thankyou!
Who ever worked on that OLED Switch should move to the forest, FAR FAR away from any electronics.
Hope you had great holidays joey! Thanks for the great content as always!!

Be sure to pull the PI3USB from the board and see if it begins to boot. You don't need it to get the system to boot into stage 2, easy test.
Keep up the great work Joey 💪
Taking the plunge into a non-standard career path is scary (and I wish I could too) but you'll kill it 💪

This is a great shout Arnold, thanks for the advice!
Awesome! How much could you get for the oled, if you fixed the docking issue? Thank You. 😀

Haha thankyou I appreciate that!
Around 7:05 looks like a burnt resistor?
It would be great to see more repairs of an Oled switch
I'll try to get my hands on some more :)
love these vids keep up postive work

Hey Joey,
try to replace the max 17050 ic. I had a few that had a bad one and showd about half an amp draw.
Basically every switch that does not fully turn on eg by having CPU or ram problems, will charge at 0.48 amps.
Probably wouldn't matter anyway as 0.46A no display usually means not fixable!
Well well well, if it isnt 'full time youtube streamer' Joey seeking his profits.
that 15v passthrough pin wire, is that thick enough for the current thats going to be running through it while quick charging?
personally, im a total noob but i would have doubled or triple-ran that just because im a coward.
Good to see more fixing there Joey im really enjoying these and all the best for 2024 Happy new Year to you too Joey keep up the good work mate 👍
Just wondering where your live recordings have gone on your channel?
Just an FYI, the liquid pad does not indicate liquid damage as you claimed, it indicates liquid contamination. So there is always hope.
Personally i would taken a little more time on the port (pulling it again) and see if you can sell It as a docking OLED switch. Time is money. Agreed. Think your to close to call it completely!
Nice work, that OLED would be a lot easier to fix with some of those copper repair pads I think.
Honestly those repair pass are painful at that size. I prefer wire, as do many others that tackle trace repair
@@Foxx_69 normally I'd agree, but in this case where the joints are hidden it can be difficult to get a good connection with wires

Dear Joey,
Why don't you use a small tip for the soldering?
You want lots of heat in to the part quickly, so you need a fat tip
Good job

£50 is the max you would go with joycons and docking station everything?
Nooo £50 is the max I would go for just the faulty Switch console :)
Phew ok i thought i had overpaid for a sec 😅, keep up the good work man great channel 👌
