The game is amazing, the developer is genuine, devoted, honest, hard working, a true gamer, he was uploading daily updates The price of the game is stupid low, it should be a crime, community translated into many languages, the plan is to keep adding stuff to the game. And if you want to do something kind... buy the game, most of the money will go to the treatments and surgeries of his very young daughter, Nadia (if i am not mistaken) who was born with a 1: millions cranial dysplasia, the temple bone keeps growing into her ear !!! The developer Mariuz stayed motivated because the game was literally a matter of life or death, of his daughter.
Developer also kept a demo available (for next-fest etc) that was just the full game because he saw the sales/daily players stats weren't affected by it so no reason to put work into drm or limited content demos when the community was so trustworthy. There are too many other great reasons to list here, but easy choice to support. The dev is definitely a real one!
Along with 'Mech Engineer' this is one of those dense, fringe games that are hideously underappreciated yet thoroughly compelling to those of us who like this kind of thing. Delta V is another fine example of why I love the indie game scene right now. It is where all the fun stuff occurs, imo.
Is it "hideously underappreciated" though? I'd say, given the small number of players who are into this kind of stuff, the game and developers are doing pretty good.
I think this is a lot more accessable than that mech game lol. This simulates a lot of systems and the UI (while flying) is verbose which might seem daunting. But in the end, its just fly around with a generous autopilot pointing at things and clicking pew pew. I'm one of those heavy sim fans and for me this game could use more depth to it's systems (and it could use more systems in general). All of this to say: this game is not THAT complicated and is easily recommendable to most people.
As soon as you said, “if you’re one of those guys that spent hours detonating asteroids in elite dangerous this game is for you” I shamelessly pulled my wallet out and bought it right away. Thanks, splat. You have single-handedly added so many wonderful experiences to my steam library!!
13:28 - Delta v is how much you can change your velocity, in any direction. The more mass in your ship, the harder you have to push to move it, so you need to use more fuel get up to the same speed. No need for 'hard core' physics. (Is that physics where you do two integrals at the same time? Whoo!) 21:10 - I'm going to guess that is the gain on your scanner. Think of it like this: you walk in to a room that is pitch black and you have a flashlight that will only quickly send out a brief burst of light, like a photo flash. How strong should the flash be? You can dial it up to be super strong so you can see really far, but it will overpower your eyes and you'll lose out on nearby detail. You might be able to see the opposite wall, but you might not see the lego brick you're about to step on. You could dial it way down to be a very mild flash so you can see close stuff very well, but your range will be limited. So, do you want your scanners to detect stuff very far away badly or very close stuff well? Being able to send strong signals and tell weaker signals apart at the same time (which your strong signals are once they bounce off of stuff and get back to you) is called "dynamic range". The bigger the range you need to cover between strong and weak the more expensive the scanner gets - very, very, very quickly.
Another thing to note is that more efficient thrusters have higher delta-V's at the cost of thrust, so more delta-V could actually make your ship less maneuverable.
There's a 'tutorial' available from the developer on UA-cam. It's a short, voiced story from the perspective of a captain which I found intriguing and it subtly explained a few of the simpler mechanics like movement, autopilot etc.
I swear I got this from a charity bundle a long time ago and the one thing I've noticed over the many months I've had it is that it's my only game that updates like multiple times a week. Dev is definitely well involved even if its been sitting in my backlog
20:52 The pop up tool tips are actually already in game. The description of the microseismic scanner focus is right there at the top of the screen in your video, just below the word Tuning. It says: "Adjust the focus area of your cargo bay's built-in microseismic mineral scanner". As you move the slider, if you look at your cargo bay, you will see how instead of the whole thing being green at a universal distribution, instead that distribution shifts towards the front or back of the cargo bay. Basically it shifts the area where you want the level of detail to be at in your cargo bay. I've never shifted it around myself, but I wouldn't be surprised if it enabled an onboard geologist to make a better estimate of the value of your cargo if all of your cargo happened to be in the area you were focusing on. All other tool tips appear in the same location. I believe. It's been about half a year since I've played.
I haven't played with this one in a long while. But my impression of the dev is very good. Very often the dev messaged me when I would post in the forum and would work out any issues I had almost immediately. I know I probably got lucky, but I got the impression the dev really cares about the game and was really trying to fix bugs as soon as they showed up. I guess I fall into that 'dad' class of gamers who love to fiddle with the little things and then sit mining ice for hours on end. I enjoyed this thing from back in early alpha, I need to pick it up again soon now that it's got a lot more polish.
Been playing this game on and off for over a year. Its a great chill out game. It could use a story or something to work towards for people like me that enjoy that aspect. Something along the lines of Hardspace Shipbreaker. But I really can't complain about the gameplay.
I've been playing this for a few weeks, and I am stunned at how good Delta V is. There is no "right" way to mine, and just watching this video I could tell that Splat has chosen different priorities from me, and the craft reflects those changes. Seeing there being no MSU on an EAgle just seems weird to me! Also surprised that there is an excavator instead of a grinder like mine has. Also just using tug drones instead of full on haul drones. This is a hard game to get into, but once you do, you there is so much to fiddle with.
That's one of the great things, there are a handful of variants for each ship, generally found in varying degrees of Used condition. I've been backing this game since the first say it was on steam. One of the very unique thing is how the dev releases content updates, he always makes the patch notes ''in-universe'' as if the new features are new technologies being developed in the game by the corporations in the game.
I started out and was playing safely for like half an hour until I decided to throw caution to the wind and just keep restarting, trying things out, then I learned how piloting works. Now I can blast into the rings at full tilt, where in game rock music starts playing because I'm going fast and doing like that scene in the expanse of the guy racing his ship to try and beat a record. It's so cool.

Just here to give my little push for the video in the hopes it reaches more people, the game definitely deserves it and I highly recommend it. The dev guy seems like a genuine dude and similarly deserves recognition for his work with the game and I hope he keeps working on the game in the future but at the same time I hope he moves on and makes something new just because it could also be a fairly unique game.
This is why I love this channel. Just looking at a product page and watching a short promo video just doesn't do anything for me, it's not really my type of game. Yet, watching you play and your enthusiasm makes me want to play. And considering it costs less than a quick lunch bam, sold.
This game is massively underrated. Yeah, it's super niche; I wouldn't recommend it to everyone, but I have 130hrs in game and I'd be perfectly happy to double that. The dev is committed to the game and it's community, and honestly a really cool dude. If you're like me and pictures from the ISS and scenes from Interstellar and The Martian gets you horny, check this game out. Also Splattercat, thanks for reviewing this game like 2 years ago or something. You're the reason I found this gem, cheers for the hard work!
Splat: the microseismic scanner focus changes the focus on your cargo bay! +100 is focusing at the front of your cargo hold, 0 as focusing at the base of your cargo hold, I think. In the tuning menu, where the simulation plays out, there are a couple of lines of dialogue that tells you the gist of what the tuning can do!
Welp, looks like is time to dust off and boot my trusty Eagle Prospector and get into the game again. I'm glad to have purchased this game and helped the developers. This game is a labor of love and it shows. Thank you for uploading this, it motivates me to play again!
28:30 : Did you just fly away from Big Bad Wolf? Whenever I meet them, I just stay near them and collect every rock their hardcore exhaust breaks free. You can fill up your whole cargo hold within minutes without doing any work yourself. ;)
Pirate hunting can be very lucrative if you have an Arm on your ship, as once you disable the pirate you can grab their entire ship and bring it back, collecting both a bounty reward and getting to keep the ship itself to either sell for more money or keep as a new tool for yourself. And some of the better pirates can have some real good ships. Though, I admit that after a while I once stopped ever seeing pirates in one of my old playthroughs, so I wonder if I actually just wiped them all out after some point.
Found out about your channel, and this game, through this video, and I gotta say... that's a real 2 for 1 deal right there. Nice to see someone highlight good quality, specifically indie, games like you do.
Microseismic scanner focus is whether the cargo bay UI is more accurate near the top or the bottom of the bay. It's a bias value. If you click on any of the options, the description is at the very top above the simulation, but it's not a mouseover like one would usually expect.
I got into this game after your last review. I went from astro monkey to mining core Capitan and started running an amazing high end rig. I haven't played in a bit but the new patch sounded interesting. As you sp astutely indicated I also love floating through the belts on Elite dangerous core bursting and rock scooping. It's like floating in a lazy river looking for treasure, and occasionally explosions.
this game was free a while ago for the whole ukainian thing and stuff so i actually waited until it was monetized again and bought it. it's so good man.
I love this game so much, can't recommend it enough. 5 bucks and I've played it probably 100+ hours. I'm still finding variants of ships from time to time that I didn't know existed. If you played Hardspace: Shipbreaker, or did core mining in Elite, or like mining/hauling gameplay, definitely give this game a look. Once you hit the point where you can easily fly manually with just the torch and no autopilot assist, the game really starts to open up. That's the point where you can start making more income per trip, and making the trips faster. Then the game opens up again once you start buying new (or gently used... or nearly destroyed) ships and fixing them up and kitting them out. One major thing I recommend that will greatly improve your experience is to disable the smart camera. Splat has it ON in this video (it's on by default) and it causes the camera to move around a lot as you move the mouse around, or it zooms in when you open your cargo bay, etc. It's very jarring and makes precise movement and getting your bearings very difficult. If you turn it off, you can manually control the camera's zooming and panning, and it's SO much easier to fly manually this way and drift-scoop instead of relying on the autopilot to do it (which burns TONS of fuel).
That UI is hot. I know, it's just another retro-remake green phosphor take, but the OMS screen with the brightness tied to power, would be exactly what they would do back in those days. All they had was bold, underline, and blinking. They could set the brightness per line, but that was pretty advanced UI for back when all they had was green or amber. Obviously different OS had different capabilities, but the green phosphor is typically the IBM compatible era of OSs.
20:35 In the tuning menu, it does give a brief explanation of what the sliders do. Clicking on a slider puts an explanation of what that slider does on the simulation screen at the top.
This has a cool soundtrack and nice premise. I bought it to support the dev because I really like the idea of the game, even though I fire it up maybe three times a year. I don't have the time to spend in it (DCS sends its regards) but again, didn't have the heart not to buy it. It's also getting better and better with very frequent small updates - so the dev really is working on it.
yeah he likes to talk about the game music but I have never heard the music from any game he has ever played. I'm guessing he leaves it out for copyright safety.
@@HeadCannonPrime I think it's also that he just has in-game audio tuned pretty low by default so it doesn't risk clashing with his voice track. No reason it couldn't be both, of course.
I own this because I got it as part of a bundle and I still haven’t played it but this put me over the edge! Also, I definitely thought it was Delta 5, not Delta V!
how much change to velocity, not acceleration... it's literally in the name Delta = change of. You can have a lot of acceleration, but if you can't sustain in - the delta V is low.
@@David-2499 Ok, look Bullet accelerates to 1km/s in a matter of let's say 0.01 second and then it leaves the barrel and stops accelerating. So it has like 100km/s^2 of acceleration, but only 1km/s of ∆V Meanwhile Soyuz rocket can only accelerate at 40m/s^2 rate, but it has enough ∆V to reach ISS and return - that would be at least 12km/s of ∆V So there is a significant difference here, pal
@Earthshine256 no. When the bullet was still in the case with powder behind it, it had 1km/s of delta v (in your example). Once it was fired, it expended all of that delta v in the form of acceleration. Now that it has been fired, it has 0 delta v, as it cannot change its velocity on its own.
@@David-2499I know I was actually talking about ∆V of a gun + cartridge + air system, not of a bullet itself. Sorry for inaccuracy But my point still stads
a = Δv = ({fuel} * {engine efficiency}) / {mass} It's basically a measure of how much travel the fuel you got will last your specific ship. We call it "Δv" and not just "a" to imply that factors can change mid-flight on a long course. I've no idea where you got the "Δv is maneuverability" from.
algo - Yes I played Traveller and still have a copy of GDW "Belter" 😎. I must be a Luddite, since it looks like Asteroids or Colony Wars . LOL , I do have steam so I might look at it , regards It does look faithful to the old boardgame, and pretty much a given the designers played it as well
You learn about the Anarchist by talking to them. Visit their base and suddenly things aren't so black & white. For better results when dealing with the anarchists, some of the potential crew have a checkered past and know them.
In the tuning menu, when you select a editable system, it says at the very top (just inside the simulation window, at the top of that) what that does~ The micro siasmic scanner just lets you adjust where the focus of your internal cargobay scanner is pointed, letting you get a more accurate read out in an area. Personally, I never found it good to adjust it.
Because I was not a fan of his description of delta V in its literal form I would like to elaborate: It is literally your capacity for change in velocity. The way microgravity physics works is fuel isn't really counted in time or distance, rather speed. This is because the fundamental concept of thrust is applying pressure in a direction over a period of time. This speed tied to a direction is a vector known as _velocity._ Say you accelerate from 0 to 20m/s, by definition, you have used 20m/s of delta V. Given this is space, you can effectively say you will continue going 20 m/s infinitely until something tries to stop you, such as air resistance, or a large rock. If in this same hypothetical, you accelerated backwards from 20m/s in one direction, to 10m/s in the exact opposite direction, you would use 30m/s of delta V: 20 to cancel out your existing momentum, and 10 more to accelerate in the opposite direction. What Spalt is trying to say, is that as your ship gets heavier, you require more fuel and more engine thrust time to achieve the same velocity. Meaning as your ship gets heavier, the same amount of fuel accounts for less delta V, and your ship feels more sluggish. While at one weight, a specific portion of your fuel tank will account for 20m/s of delta V, doubling the weight of the object in question will reduce that same portion of fuel to 10m/s delta V in effectiveness. At the same time, it also doubles the amount of time it would take to get to 20m/s. At least, that's what I remember of my high-school physics textbook, and playing KSP when I was 15.
That cargo hold make impression that the stuff inside is floating free and crashing from wall to wall. That would cause huge damage if the game would believe to Newton.
Astrogating isn't too bad if you turn down the velocity (slider above the "plot a course" button). I usually set it to 30m/s but you can go lower. Then you use manual thrust to dodge around any rocks. It takes some getting used to but it's fine.
Gonna be that 'guy' and i'm sure theres many others, but it'd probably be better to explain delta V as 'how much total momentum, measured in acceleration, can you affect before you're out of it- it being reaction mass/fuel/propellant' Low Delta V means you overall, cannot affect your acceleration significantly. I am most definitely not the type of person who actually has a deep grasp in all of this stuff, but broadly translated to how this game works is if your delta V is a thousand, that means you have a thousand meters (or whatever distance/speed denominator it uses) of fuel before you're out~ Keep in mind you'll rarely go above 100 'speed', and only if you're vastly experienced, and you don't lose speed either in space unless you collide with something, so a thousand delta V is actually still a decent amount of capability to manipulate your momentum with. (although you probably don't have enough propellant to make it home in a decent timeframe.)
I just loved to take the big yellowbellied constructor ship out, take asteroids in the hold and spin the ship to break the roids straight in the hold. Then let the refiner handle ore and refuel the ship on the fly. Lazy yes, efficient no, fun 100%
Love how dev gave game away for free when Ukraine crisis started. (i'd already brought it) but grabbed some dlc to say thanks. Figure i'd re-install as you put me back to it.

i have the game, and i love it for when i want to just chil. only thing that makes me sad is that can't take more then my one ship. i would love to be able to fly out with a small nimble ship to feed ore to my large cargo ship.
Make a guide on how to use the large ships :P With the non-drone short version of the craft you are piloting I have slapped the best laser on it and an extra microwave emitter to stun the ships, as well as the manipulator. Blows up and KLNTR/small ships within seconds, somehow. After that I was ready for a new challenge and thus brought an Obonto OCP-209 and... instant regret. I have no idea how to tame that absolutely gargantuan beast. Had to sell and rebuy something like my old ship and rebuild it.

That 2nd part applies to antennas as well, those high gain antennas are super directional, superb range but you need to be pointing at the target
Always set it to see the lego.
Always.
Another thing to note is that more efficient thrusters have higher delta-V's at the cost of thrust, so more delta-V could actually make your ship less maneuverable.

Thanks to you I can't stop playing this game. It's perfect to chill and play while I listen to my audio books.
Delta V looks so interesting. Who doesn't want to mine the rings of Saturn? And the game is so affordable. Awesome shoutout.
They have a few to choose from , love this game
"...Who are these people who mine asteroids for 20 hours in EVE Online..."
Oh, hi, I feel seen now. Jetcan mining with the corp was a lifestyle.
Beltalowda!

Dude it's freaking amazing... So many games that i would never knew if it werent for your channel
For me is the BEST space mining simulator ever.
20:35 In the tuning menu, it does give a brief explanation of what the sliders do. Clicking on a slider puts an explanation of what that slider does on the simulation screen at the top.
I decided to make a space mining game just for fun, I scoured the net for some inspo and this is pretty much everything I imagined. Looks so good!
This game is fantastic and on to something special.
Such a chill game. Play now and then and come home with .5 -1mill in my Cargo per Trip to the Rings
Anyone else notice Splat loves to talk about audio in his videos but rarely has the game audio at a level perceptible by us?
yeah he likes to talk about the game music but I have never heard the music from any game he has ever played. I'm guessing he leaves it out for copyright safety.
@@HeadCannonPrime There's a couple games where he explicitly turns it up, but it's pretty rare.
The Expanse reference in the intro
Glad to see it back on the channel.
Welp.. Another game that you got me buying without having the time to play lol
"the king of dad games" is the most splattercat review/sentence I think I've ever heard 😂
Splattercat, your channel is one of the best! I may not like all of the games you present, but the way you deliver them is unique and amazing!
Love this game. Really feels like what mining the belt would be like.
Delta V is pretty simple, its a measure of how much acceleration your ship has left based on mass and fuel
how much change to velocity, not acceleration... it's literally in the name Delta = change of. You can have a lot of acceleration, but if you can't sustain in - the delta V is low.
@lucidnonsense942 buddy... think hard for a second. What is it called when you change velocity?
@@David-2499
Ok, look
Bullet accelerates to 1km/s in a matter of let's say 0.01 second and then it leaves the barrel and stops accelerating. So it has like 100km/s^2 of acceleration, but only 1km/s of ∆V
Meanwhile Soyuz rocket can only accelerate at 40m/s^2 rate, but it has enough ∆V to reach ISS and return - that would be at least 12km/s of ∆V
So there is a significant difference here, pal
@Earthshine256 no. When the bullet was still in the case with powder behind it, it had 1km/s of delta v (in your example). Once it was fired, it expended all of that delta v in the form of acceleration. Now that it has been fired, it has 0 delta v, as it cannot change its velocity on its own.
@@David-2499I know
I was actually talking about ∆V of a gun + cartridge + air system, not of a bullet itself. Sorry for inaccuracy
But my point still stads
a = Δv = ({fuel} * {engine efficiency}) / {mass}
It's basically a measure of how much travel the fuel you got will last your specific ship.
We call it "Δv" and not just "a" to imply that factors can change mid-flight on a long course.
I've no idea where you got the "Δv is maneuverability" from.
This is one of the best job simulators out there ATM.
Can't recommend it enough.
Never knew this game existed until just now. INSTANT PURCHASE. You should also look at mech engineer
Just started playing this game as well and its great. Stay safe!
algo - Yes I played Traveller and still have a copy of GDW "Belter" 😎.
I must be a Luddite, since it looks like Asteroids or Colony Wars . LOL ,
I do have steam so I might look at it , regards
It does look faithful to the old boardgame, and pretty much a given the designers played it as well
You learn about the Anarchist by talking to them.
Because I was not a fan of his description of delta V in its literal form I would like to elaborate:
It is literally your capacity for change in velocity.
Every patch note on steam is written in lore and it is top tier.
Astrogating isn't too bad if you turn down the velocity (slider above the "plot a course" button). I usually set it to 30m/s but you can go lower. Then you use manual thrust to dodge around any rocks. It takes some getting used to but it's fine.
Bought this game after your first video. Thanks splat
yes im a void opal miner in Elite dangerous, id prob like this game
when you said Tsukiyomi-class frigate I was looking away from my screen and I thought you said "super yummy class frigate" made me laugh
30 hours in and you just made me realize I should not be letting my propellant get to 0 every run lol
I just loved to take the big yellowbellied constructor ship out, take asteroids in the hold and spin the ship to break the roids straight in the hold.
Then let the refiner handle ore and refuel the ship on the fly.
Lazy yes, efficient no, fun 100%
"People who sit in Elite Dangerous and do only core detonations for several hours" I felt that... But I can't disagree XD
Thanks. Explained some things I had questions on.
Splat flying through the belt with ABBA on board
Love how dev gave game away for free when Ukraine crisis started. (i'd already brought it) but grabbed some dlc to say thanks. Figure i'd re-install as you put me back to it.
Found the game in one of your old vids and thought it was eh. This one really got me into it!
the perfect mining space trucker game doesnt exis--- *pupil dilate* *smashes into steam and buys*
We must have the same seed. My geologist has that same face and name; she's also a singer. Oh, and she knows the Ganymedeans - so perhaps don't fire her in case yours is the same as mine!
Thanks for showcasing! ^^
Can't wait for the sequel where you mine J1407b's rings
Fucking hilarious coincidence, it just released when this game went live, maybe even minutes later? Literally, minutes.
Me: Another long night at the office Ei?
Ei: it's UNCOUTHE
Me: hey you said the line
Ei: what?
Me: what?
If you're a good person you will more than likely never meet big bad wolf. If you're a bad person, you'll meet Big Bad Wolf, but only once.
The greeting is the Expanse reference, or am I imagining things? Oi, beltalowda
As a Dad, I can confirm this is the game for us
Just dont think you're going to be racing around the belt... you will blow up 😊
Thanks to you I just bought this cheap little game :D nice presentation and great vid ^^
I'm sold, thank you sir.
Every geologist knows the tongue is the most accurate determinant of grain size.
The words you are looking for is "Hard sci-fi"
2:42 I really feel called out. xD
En - Sell - uh - duss; Enceladus. It is a moon of Saturn.
I love a refreshing glass of tungsten on a hot day
Hmm this game seems like a recipe for green sceen burn. 🔥
One of my favorite games.
> "Who are these players that sit there mining."
Don't judge me.
=P
i have the game, and i love it for when i want to just chil.
only thing that makes me sad is that can't take more then my one ship.
i would love to be able to fly out with a small nimble ship to feed ore to my large cargo ship.
Make a guide on how to use the large ships :P
With the non-drone short version of the craft you are piloting I have slapped the best laser on it and an extra microwave emitter to stun the ships, as well as the manipulator. Blows up and KLNTR/small ships within seconds, somehow.
After that I was ready for a new challenge and thus brought an Obonto OCP-209 and... instant regret. I have no idea how to tame that absolutely gargantuan beast.
Had to sell and rebuy something like my old ship and rebuild it.
solid title along with Astrox indie love
Hi
About thé micro thingy tuning you have tiny description of what it fies in the top of tge screen in case you missed it
Days since Splat mentioned hes a geologist: 0
You had me at "dadgames"! 👍
