i just found your video, i had to come to the chat to make sure that someone had said Yellow was a girl, lol.
I really like how Blue and Green's backstories tie into the Gold and Silver chapter, despite not being the main protaganists.
The Gold, Silver, Crystal arc was a full conclusion to the series up until that point. Every loose end was tied up, and every character from Kanto had an important part to play. Not just in Blue's link to Silver and the Masked man, or Green's link to chuck, but in Yellow's involvement, with her reawakening the beast trio. It is just epic.
Yellow feels like a fan fiction character, honestly, but she actually works in the series, and I love her. On paper, everything about Yellow and her arc sounds stupid.
"She can talk to pokemon and heal them by touching them and Pikachu has amnesia and Red is missing", but in execution, it's actually really good.
@IsaacInfernape2000 Yellow is actually a girl. Might be different in other versions of the manga but in the English version she's a girl that pretends to be a guy
@IsaacInfernape2000 also just because ONE person talked shit about her doesn't mean that its fact, thats called an opinion. And that goes for any character. And insulting someone's opinion doesn't make you sound smart just makes you sound like an asshole
@IsaacInfernape2000 that's a headcanon. It's not canon. Yes, she could be trans or gender-neutral, and yes a lot of hints can point to her not being cis, but it's not stated. All we know is that she's a girl, but was told by Green to pretend to be a boy to help keep her identity a secret. The comment you replied to wasn't incorrect in calling Yellow a girl, because that's what we canonically know about her. She is referred to by characters who know her actual gender as a girl, so fans call her a girl because it's canon she's a girl
@IsaacInfernape2000 literally just read the manga. Yellow is specifically stated to be a girl. That's all the prove you need, it's canon information, not my opinion. And I'm not talking about a "fan-translated English version" I'm talking about the real English version.
@IsaacInfernape2000 cis is a short version of cisgender, which is a person who's gender identity is the same as what they were born as. It's a real term, just look it up
This was honestly my favorite ARC thus far, I ADORE Yellow as a character. I was really very sad when she didn’t get an appearance in Let’s go Pikachu/ Eevee. It didn’t seem fair at all.
Yellow hasn’t appeared in main continiuty since 2008
Let's be real, she should've been the main character in Let's Go, like seriously, the story is literally designed the same way the Yellow Chapter manga was made, as-in the next generation of the Kanto trainers a year after Red, Blue and Green's journey happened

And much better than he ever was!
Great video showcasing what makes this arc wonderful. Yellow is an underrated protagonist and really shows how creative she is in battling even as a pacifist. Most people expect direct attacks, or even sneak attacks, but Yellow goes one step further. And the Elite 4 truly show how powerful they are given how teamwork and trickery are needed to take them down. The pacing seemed fine imo, as I saw them as breaths of fresh air for levity. Looking forward to the next vid, whether it's on the GSC arc, or an analysis of Blue (Green in Eng.) Hope you're doing well!
Thank you very much! I'm glad I was able to capture the arc for all its glory, along with its cast! Seeing the strats that Yellow decided to take at first were most certainly a breath of fresh air. Same with the tie ins that the first RGB arc were not able to address, along with the power of the Elite Four.
And the best part? GSC and Ruby and Sapphire are next! They are my favorite arcs in the manga so far and you bet I'll do my damned best to capture these arcs for all their glory! So cannot wait to show you all. It's time! Best Girl Blue will get her moment after I'm hopefully done with the FRLG. Once again, thank you and I appreciate the well wishes. Just getting started now! I remember reading volume 7 of the Adventures manga before ever playing the games. It definitely gave me a healthy dose of fear for the Elite Four. Yellow's story and character definitely still holds up to this day. Anyone who has actually read volume 7 knows what you're leaving out,. Everyone, PLEASE read the adventures manga
This was the one arc i read as a kid back in 2009, and it got me absolutely dazzled by the world of PokéSpe. I loved the unique spin that it brought to the world of Pokémon, thank you for this!

Awesome summary of the arc! It’s one of my favorites. I do love how Lance is a foil to Yellow, and what Yellow would be if they crossed the line. Lance will always be one of the more iconic villains in this manga to me
Heck every antagonist in the Pokémon series has a very similar goal as lances in some capacity. They either want to recreate the world eliminate the human factor or do something for the benefit for Pokémon.
I love how Lance switches from bad guy to neutral guy to bad guy and so on throughout the series.

He was ambushed by one of the team rocket admins (Petral I think his name was the one who can imitate other faces) and realized that he needed to get help. If anything he found it ironic that he Giovanni and pryce came to stop archer and his group from tearing jhoto apart when they were tampering with arceus.
And after this Giovanni requested for lance and pryce to train silver so one day silver can fight him and try to apprehend him.

OH MY GOD YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW FRUSTRATING IT WAS CALLING YELLOW A "HE" LMAO! Thankfully I had no idea that Yellow was a girl when I was reading the arc at the age of 14. And with me being so young and ignorant, I was completely unaware of her true identity. So when that moment happened, I was definitely surprised! Hearing your perspective on the matter is definitely an interesting one haha!

Thanks for the video! This is probably my favorite arc, and Yellow is my favorite protagonist. I especially love how Lance is framed as what could've happened if he went too far. The Elite Four voiceover at the start was pure gold. I also caught that bit of misinformation, and did my part in spreading it in this review.
This is the first video I've seen that covers past the Red and Blue arc, so thanks for that. This whole series deserves more attention.
You're most welcome! Yellow definitely is a solid protagonist that deserves all the popularity she got from all fans! And for sure, it's great to see these characters or rather incarnations of said characters, if they were to go through certain specific events. Becoming who they are as a result of that, such as Green (rival) and of course, Lance! I'm so glad that you enjoyed the voicover! I was hesitant on putting it in at first, but I had a feeling that it was for the best, so I went through with it! Definitely gonna do more of that for my future Adventures videos!

Take all the time in the world for the next video, the series is sure to blow up. It perfectly captures so many reasons why I adore Pokemon Adventures
The Yellow Chapter is an easy second favorite for me, after the true masterpiece of the GSC Chapter. Yellow is a compelling character, she has unique powers that seem broken at first, but are balanced out by her getting tired if she uses them too much. The whole concept of the main character from the previous arc being missing was the perfect hook, and the Elite Four as villains was a great twist. I never expected Lance to be such a great main antagonist, he’s kind of like a precursor to N but considerably more violent. While I don’t agree with your thoughts on how Agatha was handled, I will say it’s frustrating that she never got closure. After her monologue about no one will stand in her way she just disappears without a trace, we didn’t even get to see her confront Professor Oak like she planned to. Did she die or something? It’s weird because Lance, Lorelei and Bruno all escaped to fight another day, and Lance and Lorelei even had a change of heart and went on to help the heroes in the future, but Agatha was just completely forgotten about.
Even more great video than usual. You outdid yourself in terms of editing, presentation and scripting.
Yellow arc from what I read so far is the most unique arc feeling very ambitious. With its ability to make many pre-existing characters plot relevant. Albeit the pacing was lacking at times the final showdown was great.
This video did a great job looking into the arc's strengths and even weaknesses. Major props!

For real. The Yellow arc truly is a step up and a complete departure from everything we've become accustomed to in the games and anime throughout these 25+ years. Whilst the pacing did take a dump at times, it really got well compensated in the final showdown.
I'm glad I was able to capture all these elements. Can't wait to show you GSC and especially Ruby and Sapphire (which you should get back to reading sometime soon :P )

Yeah, it's my boyfriend's favorite arc to the point that when we were doing a made up pokemon role-playing thing we basically redid this arc with our characters, who incidentally were the children of the manga characters. We had the next generation of the elite for having their plan (which was raising Arceus) and all the connections to viridian trainers.
It probably wasn't very original but it was fun to play around with.

@@MDrams22 lol actually that roleplay adventure is what brought us together. It was incredibly fun to sorta experience making the decisions and dealing with crisis as they did in the manga. It was even more high-stakes but we had more advantages on our side - such as the fact that Red and Yellow showed up and gave us tips and stuff 😁

I think the Elite Four is perhaps my favorite villians in the manga, they where done so well! Allthough Agatha's backstory with Oak was pretty weak ngl.

1. This manga and many fanworks(mainly Nuzlockes) have been carrying my appreciation for Lance because the games give him nothing; I'm very much a fan of ecoterrorist/possible war criminal Lance.
2. The protagonist/antagonist team up with the old gym leaders is a part of the mange that continues to live rent-free in my head. Another is the final batter with Lance vs. Yellow.
Damn those four videos were fantastic I'm so happy I found those and you did incredible and the beginning of this video with the comic dub just fantastic

In whole Yellow was one of my most favorite Arcs of The First *Chapters* of Pokémon Adventures, And I got to read it back in February, I don’t think anything else has to be said that wasn’t already said about the Story itself that wasn’t said in this video,
*SO INSTEAD I’ll LEAVE SOME FUN FACTS!* =D
Fun Fact #1.) In *Pokémon Masters* it’s confirmed that *Agatha* is Professor Oak’s Wife, And in that *Gary/Blue/Green* Calls her Gramms, So this just adds a *WHOLE LOT* to this making Agatha very cutthroat.
Fun Fact #2.) Intentional or not, *Yellow’s* Uniform has the same color’s as The Pikachu Gameboy that came with a copy of *Pokémon Yellow* in the box.
Fun Fact #3.) The Pokémon Fan Club Creator/Chairman Interacts with at least one Trainer through each of the OG *Chapters* showing how differently these characters act from each other.

I was thinking about this video the other day and it finally comes out! You bring up some interesting points that I didn't think of, something I appreciate about your videos. Can't wait to see your review on future arcs!
That said, my thoughts on this arc aren't as generous. I did find the general plot and the additions to the non-OC characters wonderful (I didn't even think about how this arc gives the readers a wider 3rd person view of the characters!) and the battles creative. Buuuuut, where the arc drops the ball for me is with Yellow. The way Yellow is written... feels very handjobby.
A lot of Yellow is written in an almost perfect way. Even the attempts to make the pacifist angle being a detriment doesn't end up being that way (mostly). In fact, being a pacifist actually _is_ the reason Yellow wins in the end. So it's not really a flaw at all. And this "flaw" isn't that hindering because of everyone giving Yellow strong pokes that make it possible to win the battles.
And this is not even considering the whole pointless "Powers of Viridian Forest" attribute. _That_ is the biggest reason why Yellow's character and story just doesn't work for me. Because these powers for Yellow are obviously for plot purposes and in Wataru/Lance's case just to stretch out the final battle...
I mean, if one took away those powers from Wataru/Lance, he would still be ungodly strong. But, if taken away from Yellow... Well, they're a crutch:
- healing mainly allows Yellow to gain the Professor's attention and acquire Pika; along with befriending any pokemon (worsening her "perfectionism")
- the ability to read Pokemon's thoughts allows Yellow to stand a chance and cut down the "find the clues and put them together" aspect of the mystery
Taking those away means a rough character development for Yellow and that's one thing that could have made Yellow's character as imperfect as the others.
The fact that Wataru/Lance is so ungodly powerful and the foil to Yellow speaks volumes as to how buff he had to be just to match. (or vice versa) Maybe _too_ buff...
Another issue I noticed was that Siba/Bruno felt out of place? Like, he didn't care about the whole save the environment so why was he with them? There was also the whole possession of him that got dropped. Was he with them because of that? His entire story is lacking and perplexing. Both him and Kikuko/Agatha needed better.
Lastly... I need to reread GSC again to be sure, but I don't remember any of "humans polluting too much" being brought up again. It's sorta a major issue. What's to stop the E4 from doing it all over again? For a manga that presides itself on making sure all its stories are happening forwardly it seems a bit disappointing that the Yellow arc has little impact overall considering how much it stressed the pollution issue to the point of calling Masara/Pallet Town a place free of it.
In some ways, the Yellow arc would have been better _without_ Yellow the character. But that's just my 2 cents.

Yellow is the best, and she is the most blatantly overpowered character ever. She (spoilers for FRLG arc.)…
can literally raise her Pokémon’s levels when something important to her is in danger. Not to mention that she has healing abilities and can read the mind of Pokémon.

For sure! Finding this out as it happened in the FRLG definitely surprised me. For what would otherwise be the weakest Pokedex holder. When threatened or greatly provoked, she can be the most terrifying opponent. Period.

are we forgetting the fact that at the end of firered and leafgreen Sird legit called out yellow as being the strongest amongst the pokedex holders? and then it was never brought up or expanded on ever again?
The elite 4 in the manga was so powerfull even mewtwo hade trouble defeating them.
Yellow is what made me read Pokemon Adventures in the first place. Unfortunately, I think the author has either forgotten or don't know how to move her character forward as it has been almost 400 chapters since her last appearance since *Chapter 337 - Epilogue* and was last indirectly mentioned by Lance in *Chapter 460 - VS Arceus IX*
When I first started yellow I was dreading it it seemed long with the mc gone but after maybe one volume she really grew on me
Likewise! It felt rather off putting at first, but they really did a wonderful job in having her win me over! Especially while using the other cast members of the past arc! And before I know it? Everything was just fine.

For what it's worth, she was one of the more tame members of the Elite Four. She didn't seem to be someone who took pleasure in killing from what I see. Even going as far as scolding Blue when she seemingly lost her arm. I definitely think it was having a level of compassion, which ultimately was her undoing

I love how Blue realizes right away that Yellow is too naive to be a girl traveling alone and was like "maybe don't let the world know, when you get older we can have another conversation".

@@TheUziGunner agreed, true to life the friend with the most messed up backstory is very wise beyond their years while initially lacking social skills. I love how being friends with Red and Green and being forgiven by Professor Oak helps her grow into herself. She never loses her survival born skill set, but rather learns how to apply it to a cause and to people she believes in. Omg and Silver. This is legitimate all ages entertainment which would make for an amazing film franchise or anime adaptation true to this like how Sailor Moon Crystal told the manga story. Although ideally with better start up production, those folks must have been worked brutally if an episode every two weeks initially came out looking like it did. Don't mind the ADHD tangent. 😅

Please make a Gold and Silver chapter review next. It has great development, plot, and characters in my opinion. I especially liked the villain whose bame I will not spoil. (Hint: It is not Giovanni or a team rocket admin. They are a character we have seen before from the games and anime and many are familiar with. You battle them in the games.)

Fun fact. A big reason why I started this journey is because I was absolutely upset by the idea that the arcs after Yellow arc never get much, if any form of acknowledgement. Nobody talks past the first arc and if they do, it's usually just misinformed drivel. And only other made a proper video about the Yellow arc. Which is just about the Elite 4.

6:15 I have a question, why didn't you talk about Giovanni's character arc?? I mean he didn't have much character in this arc compared to the future arcs but still he changed quite from the RGB arc.
Because his involvement would be a very big spoiler then! Just as it would be to talk about Lance's true power. Every time I make these videos, it is with the intent of ensuring that I keep a healthy balance on what information should be revealed or not. Thereby ensuring that anybody watching this video and choosing to read this arc will still find a lot of surprises in it. Hence why I never really reveal Yellow's "true self" and stick to what she's sold as in the manga, as a "boy". Hope this clarifies!

Despite some of the flaws it had, they really managed to perfectly carry on the very high momentum left in GSC and tell its own story, whilst simultaneously elevating the Hoenn region, its Pokemon and especially the characters to completely new heights, which both the games and the anime never could. Truly a thing of beauty!
