Red in Pokémon Adventures is my favorite rendition of the character tbh, I love how he goes from a bit cocky in the beginning to a leader the rest of the Dexholders look up to. His development is amazing
Agreed! While I understand the charm of Red in games, he in the end is still just a blank slate. A blank slate of a silent protagonist that becomes the surprise super final boss of GSC. This Red on the other hand is a full on character. With his own journey, a starting point, room to improve on and eventually his development. Him, Green (rival), Blue. Every single dex holder in fact at that are more complete characters than I've ever seen in the anime and games. Looking forward to covering em all 😁

While I don't think this is my favorite arc, I do appreciate how it set up the groundwork for all the upcoming arcs and tie-ins, and how it's still respected (character and arc-wise) as a monumental achievement within the entire timeline in pokespe.
The feelings are very much mutual. While I will always find the future arcs better in terms of content, art and so on, this arc did its job as the perfect beginning. To be built upon into something larger than life. I was honestly skeptical when I started rereading it again. But in the end, it still was a very entertaining experience!
Also, holy crap you're the same person whose videos got suggested to me a few days back, regarding if the PokeSpe cast had voice actors! Not bad at all. Hope you enjoy your stay my friend!

You're right about the arc being short and only focusing on Red, thats because when the arc first started, Kursaka didn't care that much for pokemon (actually believe he stated he didn't even play the game when he first started writing it) but Pokemon was a growing franchise and he wanted to get in on it. It isn't till later arcs that he falls in love with the games and shows off the battle mechanics (ie giving Ruby mudkip the best nature being Adamant and them going ham when describing the battle frontier).
This was an excellent review and I feel your excitement about the manga when you talk about it. Keep up the great work :)

If there's something I noticed about his love for the games, it started during the GSC arc. Every time I read those author notes of his, it never fails to make me smile. And you're right. He definitely did go all in during Gen 3.

I hope when you get around to the next arc, the yellow arc, you won't spoil the big twist about Yellow's identity, because the handling of that issue is one of the things I loved about that and later arcs in which Yellow appears

I have been reading this series over and over again since 2009. I'm on the point where I know everything, cover to cover of every volume (except diamond pearl platinum cuz that seems to be nowhere to be found).

I am obsessed with Pkmn for some time now, and reading this Red, Blue, Green Ark of Pkmn Adventures just gave me the dose of nostalgia I much needed. I managed to read 100 chapters in on day and boy they were captivating.
I mean Pkmn is real nostalgia for me as I played the Red/Blue and Gold/Silver Games as a child but also I had some of the Pokemon Adventure Mangas as child an was memorized by them, showing and telling me the story I was just experiencing on Gameboy (the game i was playing before was Tetris and Mario, so it was a real experience, like there wasn''t as much games back then) in much more colors and details.
I just reread the whole arc and it is just mind-blowing and bringing me back to my childhood in a way I could never believed it would and I am really glad about it.
If you`re a child of the 90s or just real big fan of the early Pkmn read this masterpiece of a manga and sooth you' re soul with it.
I love that intro, with all those EPICCCC moments in the manga

Apologies for not responding sooner, but I truly can't thank you enough for such kind words my friend! This is exactly why I started this in the first place. I was tired of the lack of coverage the manga has, especially past the Yellow arc. It's an injustice to its quality and it's one I aim to rectify and go beyond! Knowing you enjoyed them all was truly the icing on the cake and I can assure you, I am just getting started! Same with the other arcs that I got all the intention in the world to read!

I also think the Pokémon: Origins miniseries anime did the characters Red and Blue/Green as described in the games and manga. Plus the story was also was a little dark at some times. If you have seen that miniseries please take the time to watch!!!

Giovanni is easily up there as my favorite characters in the manga. The way they portrayed him, even in the future arcs? An absolute thing of beauty. And I can't wait for the day you get into it. It's gonna be awesome!

Since the library closed I havened read one volume in a while. I was have way through Diamond and Pearl Platinum. I always liked this series but this video makes me want to read them again.
Ah that's unfortunate. Personally I never could read a physical version of the manga since I live in Bangladesh and my only way to read it was through online. I'm currently in the DPP arc at the moment. Just started it and am loving every second of this experience. The level of chemistry the cast has is infectious and makes me smile like an idiot!

Pokemon Adventures has made me spoiled with how characters in game were portrayed. Like, Red in the games was such a shock to me at first because I was familiar with the Red in the manga. And, the gym leaders became so much cooler in my eyes, especially Giovanni.

Anyway......to me pokemon adventures is one of 3 main universes of pokemon (Besides the main series anima and main series games.). Can't wait for that next video.😀
Canonically, that is the case to be fair. Pokemon Adventures is by no stretch a fan manga or a doujinshi, because otherwise it would have never gotten localized internationally, with the trademarked Pokemon logo attached to it. So yes! As far as canon timelines go, there are 3 of them. Being the gameverse, animeverse and of course, the manga verse!

I don't know if you kept reading them after Emerald. But you should read the FRLG arc. The re-makes arcs (I've just read FRLG and HGSS, and that one is insane) are short, but good
I read them all in chronological order! And since FRLG comes before Emerald, I read that too. Great arc! Although I am yet to read HGSS. I intend on doing so after I'm done with the Sinnoh arc haha

Uzi which version of the translation did you use in the video? I want to start reading this manga but I don’t know which version of the translation I should get what’s your recommendation?
I usually have 2 versions by my side as I do my reading. One with the Viz version which has the cleanest print but unfortunately has censorship for a couple of the scenes. And the other version being from the original scanlator. For me to double check if something is amiss. So yeah, that'd be my recommendation to you if you can do it

@@TheUziGunner Tnx for the information though strange that my country's version of the Viz translation does not have the censoring and neither does the version on mangadex (which i found while searching for a legal way to buy the manga in my home country which is rather difficult) how strange.
@@alfagamingnl1815 In Japan and coincidentally the version I read when I got introduced to the manga over 6 years back, the original names for the cast were used. So Green (female)'s original and Japanese name is Blue, while Blue (rival)'s original and canonical name is Green. I go with their actual names because that's how I got introduced to them and it'd be unfair to my memories by suddenly addressing them differently, just because the localization team chose to switch up their names. But yeah, most other translated versions I see choose to use their localized names. And the censorship from Viz is inconsistent too. Like Arbok getting cut not being censored at all, but instead a character getting slapped being censored and replaced it the slapper glaring at the person at hand and making her reel back as if she just got hit lol. You'll see
My favourite version of Red used to be Pixiv Red where he's all cool and silent. Now Manga Red is my favorite.

As for my favorite, definitely Ruby! He in my eyes was the most fleshed out character that had the best on screen character development of any Pokémon protagonist, whether it be games or anime! Blue (female) is a close second tho. 😁

I remember seeing this one person who thought all the manga characters were a bunch of Gary/Mary Sues. Never gave a reason, so I guess he was a troll or something.
The fact that when I first discovered this back in 2018 and I'm just now getting back at it, I continued reading until night that my mom got angry at me. I mean, how could I not continue reading it when the characters have been so fleshed out that I wanted more. My favorite arc has got to be the Black and White arc though.
I truly love this series that I'm crying blood because so little has seen of its beauty. Hidenori-san is such a good writer to incorporate what Pokemon should have truly been. This should have been the anime instead of that stale 12-year old ketchup man and his Pikachu.
Wait I'm confused, isn't Gary/Blue the main rival? And Green is the female one? I remember picking up a volume of this yeaaars ago and this was the case. Might you have interchanged them?
On the contrary actually. What you are referring to are the localised names for the rival and the female Pokédex Holder. In reality, their original and actual names are opposite. Rival's name is "Green" and female's name is "Blue".
The reason I stick to this, other than the fact that this is how I got introduced them in the manga, is because I find the localised change especially stupid here. See, the Pokedex holders happen to have eye colours that match their names. And in this case, the rival has green eyes, to go with his name, while the female has blue eyes. This especially is highlighted in the FRLG arc, where the colours of the 3 volumes, match their names. And in there? The cover featuring the rival is of green colour. And the one featuring the female of blue. Just like their names. I wouldn't honestly mind sticking to the localised names for the other versions of them honestly. But here? The inconsistencies from their ridiculous decision are far too high for me to stick to it. So I just call them by their original names. Sorry for the long explanation! Hope this explains my side of the coin.

Before your introduction to adventures video was in my recommendations actually watched another video titled something along the lines of fixing the Pokémons greatest problem (detailing the differences between the western version and the Japanese version). I'm in a third world country so i was only able to read 1 volume of the adventures manga from the school library which was full of books donated by USAID. So maybe I was indeed introduced to the localized version of the story. Once again thank you very much and I'm looking forward to more content from your channel.

Sticking to their original names. Not only did I get introduced to them like that, the localisers choice in changing their names make 0 sense here. Especially when the main characters have eye colours that match their name. Green (rival) has green eyes, whereas Blue (female) has Blue eyes. This is doubled down on in the FRLG arc, where in each 3 covers, the original dex holders are individually on it. And said cover's colour match their actual names. The one with Green (rival) had a green cover. And the one with Blue (female) had a blue cover. So yeah. I simply refuse to stick to what the localisers have decided because of such inconsistency that they have created. Hope this explains!

I went from watching the God awful and stupid anime to reading this. It was like a medicine to heal the pain from watching the anime's lame and all repetitive story and watching Ash never progress as a character and stays at his f*cking age.
