Hi, I'm Charlotte Dobre. I'm an actor, reactor, singer and sometimes (not really) comedian. On this channel I do reactions, commentary and occasionally I make a joke or two. I love poking fun at social media, weddings, entitled people, tiktok and OF COURSE petty people. I upload daily, usually 7 days a week, unless life gets crazy or I get lazy. I went out with a guy I wasn’t at all interested in because he asked me out 2 weeks in advance and he had put so much effort into planning it that I felt too guilty to say no. I wanted to cancel so bad but he was so excited about it that I thought I’ll just go and he’ll realize that we just don’t click. 35 years, 4 kids, 5 grandkids and 2 great grandkids later and I still can’t ghost this dude.

Worst “date” ever. I actually met this guy in a bar. We just chatted, no big deal. No sexy talk, nothing inappropriate. It was a week night so at a reasonable time, I said goodbye and walked out. As I went to get my coat from the coat closet, he followed me, then tried to drag me out the door. I pulled away and went back into the bar. The bartender and three customers leapt to my defense and forced him out the door and away. I stayed for a little longer then one of my saviors walked me to my apartment building. Whew!

I went on a date with a guy who legit looked like he should be on the cover of a vampire romance novel. He was gorgeous. He was also very nice. But we had nothing in common. This wasn't his fault but it did make the date pretty akward. I told him at the end of the date that we weren't compatible. He didn't speak to me for a while after.
However, it's been almost 20 years, and we still keep in touch despite moving to different states. We became really good friends. He's still gorgeous and still sweet.

She mentioned she noticed he got mad at everything, and I had an ex I used to notice was 'nice' till I heard him lose it over the phone while he was in traffic. The depth of his rage was scary, but I ignored my instincts. The relationship later devolved into dv, and I had to call the police on him 2x, as well as drive to a police station a 3rd time when he was following me in his car. He was still low-key stalking me 2 years later. Please, always trust your gut.

Also must say, some of us with childhood trauma really struggle to NOT be so nice, to not people please. It's called "fawning," meaning to try to please people so they won't hurt you, and it's basically a survival tactic you learn when you are young to keep you safe. One of my worst dates: i was 27, single, and learned about Bumble. I heard it was more "wholesome" than the other dating apps out there, so i thought id give it a try.Well, my first match (m/30) was really cute, worked in the biology field, rock climbed, and had a love for animals. We talked for a few weeks and then decided to meet up at a German beer house and restaurant. Ive been rusty at the dating thing, so i wore my cutest clothes and wore light makeup and light perfume, and when I showed up, he just seemed so mad that he was meeting with me. His face had a permanent scowl (not rbf but like purposely that way) didnt seem interested in talking much either. I decided to break the silence and asked him how long he had been rock climbing for. He said 5 years or so and then asked me the same question. I just started rock climbing a week or two before we matched, so I was still pretty new at it. I enthusiastically asked him if he'd like to see the video of my first time reaching the top of a v1 (that's like the second level in bouldering (ropeless rock climbing thats closer to the ground), he nodded and as I show him my newby climb, he proceeded to rip me to shreds saying my form was terrible and that I should quit while I was ahead especially since im a "bigger girl". (The whole time i was climbing, i had a coach/ friend walking me through it). Anyway, i told him he was being a jerk, he scoffed and said i should consider a different hobby that's for softer bodies, which really hurt cause climbing is how i got motivated to lose weight. The food came, i took two bites and left without a word.

There wasn’t a stool next to him, and he made no offer no move to a table/booth. I had to find a stool, drag it over, and sit partway behind him (there wasn’t room for a stool, either). During our conversation, I learned that he’s homeless and currently couch-surfing at his nephew’s apartment. There was no second date. This happened in 1977. I was 16, and had a boyfriend who was a Sophomore in a local community college, who was 20. This was considered normal then. My father was a retired fighter pilot, so I was familiar with planes, though I'd never flown one.
My boyfriend and I'd made out a few times, but I was a virgin and terribly naive. He rented a Cesna, and rented a private island close to Padre Island on the Gulf coast. He told me as we were loading that he had a heart condition, but I kinda didn't pay attention and just said, "Okay."
We were most of the way there, and could see the runway, when he clutched his chest and gasped, "Take the controls, I'm...having...heart... attack..." and slumped over, seemingly unconscious.
He'd given me a brief tutorial on the controls, so I grabbed them (I was in the copilot seat, so I didn't have to move him). I landed the plane in a 40 mile an hour cross wind on that deserted islet, and threw open the hatch, ready to sprint to the stubby tower that held the only phone. I'd been yelling "MAYDAY" over the radio, but he'd changed the channel at the beginning of the flight(without my knowledge), so there was no answer.
I was out of the plane when I heard his voice shouting "Wait, it was just a joke! I'm fine!!"
I froze in disbelief and fury. I literally couldn't speak.
I guess he took that as me being okay with it, because he unpacked the picnic and laid out the blanket. Me being on the Spectrum, and not used to dating, I picked at the food, not saying much, just drinking the beer he'd brought. He was also drinking. I didn't know that this was illegal. (Drinking age was 18).
I only put my foot down when he wanted to make out. I claimed a tummy ache ("that time of the month, it wasn't"), and he was disappointed. We packed up and flew home. I don't remember the car ride home from the airport, but I remember thinking I really wanted AWAY from the a$$hole! I do remember an abbreviated goodbye/thanks for the flight, and running in the house.
I'm pretty sure he was planning on taking my virginity that day, on a deserted island where I couldn't call for help.
I didn't tell my parents (because they would have forbidden me to date at all). But I DID break up with him over the phone and never saw him again. Because of the times, I felt ambivalent for years, thinking Id overreacted. Now I'm proud of myself for landing the plane, and wish I'd pushed him out of it into the Gulf of Mexico for the sharks! So, that's the worst date I ever had. (I didn't drive then either).

Literally, fell out and the car coasted to a halt. We spent the day, absolutely nowhere, trying to figure out how to get his car back home. We eventually got back (the car followed the next day) and he borrowed his roommate’s car to get me back to my college apartment. He later taught me to drive a manual on his new transmission. I'm pushing 70. Just writing this to let you know your parents and grandparents had bad dates, too.
    First some historical references.
Drive-in theaters: yes, they could be real "passion pits."
    Bench seats.
    Woody Allen's early movies.
    The last two, look up.
So, I was about 20, in my final year of community college, and had only had one boyfriend before this. There was this really "nice" guy in one of my classes that I had been chatting with. Also being a bit flirty. He was reasonably good looking, smart, and seemed more interested in science and art but not in a nerdy way.
Towards the end of the semester, he asked me out to a movie. I said yes and we arranged for him to pick me up at my house. I still lived with my folks.
He picks me up on time, we chat and laugh while driving to the movie.
This was in the 1970's and waaayyy before movie plexes. Honest to God we just had two movie theaters.
Anyway, he's NOT driving towards either of them. But, I'm young and dumb, thinking he might be headed for the interstate to drive to the next town over. Some of the surrounding towns had more theaters and different movies so it wasn't unusual to drive to a different town for a movie night.
Nope. Because off of the interstate was the town's third movie theater, the drive-in.
OK. He was kind of cute and, depending on the movie, a little making out might be fun.
    Nope, again.
The movie was Woody Allen's, "Everything You Ever wanted to Know About Sex
    * but Were Afraid to Ask." (Believe it or not, based on the book of the same name.)
So, we go in, get set up (you had to park next to a speaker, pull it inside the car, attach it to the window [via a couple of hooks] then roll the window back up.
Did I mention his car has bench seats?
So, he slides over and puts his arm around me. Then, we start to watch the movie. OK, not so bad. Maybe the movie will be so bad it will be funny talking about later.
    Nope. Again.
As the movie progresses, his breathing gets heavier.
    And heavier.
    And heavier.
Luckily, the only thing he's done is just put his arm around me, nothing else.
And the heavy breathing? His breath was SO bad, it could have killed a horse.
I kid you not. Fogging up the windows, but not in a good way.
It's not like he'd eaten too much garlic or anything like that. Literally like manure. 7:26
I pretty much sat there trying to make myself as small as possible.
After what seemed like an eternity, he slid back over and asked me where I'd like to go next.
Home. I just said I had a project that I was working on and needed to get and early start.
When we got to my house, I hastily said, "Bye." bounded out of the car, and literally ran to my front door and then to my room. My dad was still up so the door was unlocked.
And that was my worst date.

    Okay here we go.
I (19F) chatted with a guy (19M) online, we did video chat I knew he was real who he was and it was a good time chatting. We decided to meet in person. He lived an hour and a half north of me. I asked about meeting in the middle and he said he couldn’t. So I agreed to come his way.
So the plan became: meet at his place, go to a book store, pick up a recipe book, find a recipe, go shopping for the ingredients then go back to his place and cook it together.
I get to his place and go to his apartment. Inside it was nice and his roommate was there. I wasn’t told he had a roommate so I was a bit surprised but he was cool. The roommate asked us what we were doing for our date, before I could answer Date said “she’s gonna cook us dinner” and I said “oh no we’re gonna cook together” and he just laughed.
After that we go outside and I asked where his car was and he told me “oh I don’t drive I just take the bus.”
“Oh… well okay I’ll drive more, but I don’t know how to get to the book store.” He proceeds to tell me he only knows how to get there via the bus routes and I said “okay let’s just follow that.”
30 minutes of drive (no GPS because of the year), 30 minutes to find a parking spot and we finally get into the book store where we picked a book. And by “we” I mean me because he ditched me to go somewhere else in the store. I bought the book we got into the car and I was fuming because he barely talked with me the whole trip he got us way too lost (it took us 10 minutes to get back his place). My excuse for us going back to his place was “let’s pick the recipe there so we can see what you already have.”
When we got to his apartment I told him the date is over and he ASKED IF HE COULD SEE ME AGAIN. I told him “No, this was a horrible date you wanted to force me to cook for you, you didn’t know where we were going, you got us lost after I drove an hour and a half to see you, you didn’t talk to me any portion of the drive, you ditched me in the book store and I bet you still wanted me to be the only one cooking and you’d ditch me. Get out of my car and don’t contact me again.”
He got silent and left my car.
Never saw him again. Thank god.

I invited a FRIEND/coworker (it was never more, never going to be more) to a group from work going to see a movie. He was a shy but nice guy, and nobody had asked him to join in before. I was driving simply because we both lived near one another, and I had my license and he didn't. Got to his house to find not just his parents and siblings, but his grandparents (both sides), cousins, aunts and uncles, a few close family friends, and his church minister. 🤔 Initially I thought they were having a party or something... Nope, they all wanted to be a part of his "first date". 😱 His dad verified my license, even calling the police department to see if I had any tickets or warrants, and made me show proof of insurance. 🤔 Then they took pictures as if we were headed off to Prom or something. This was a jeans and t-shirt sort of gathering. 🤣 It turned out that not only was this his "first date", but the 1st time he'd ever been invited to hang with friends in general. The only birthday parties he'd attended were for relatives even. I gave the family a great show. Then made sure to let him know I had a serious boyfriend, as kindly and tactfully as a 16/17yo could. I continued to include him in our friend outings, and eventually he actually started doing things without me being the one to invite him. He even hosted a small birthday gathering at his place, with actual friends who came. But his family always referred to me initially as his girlfriend, and eventually as his ex. 🤣💜 They really didn't need to know, as long as he understood. We're still FB friends to this day. I heard he got married, and his best man and groomsmen were fellow former coworkers of ours from that group. 💜

Men in America have guns, though. Several years after a few incidents where being nice was the only reason I lived, I took a self-defense class and one of the first things the instructor told us was "Compliance is a form of self-defense. If you feel like there's no other way to defend yourself, and your life is at stake, there is no shame in choosing to live."
After that class I sat in my car and cried. I had never felt so validated, and haven't been again since, but I think we all need to be told that we can choose to live no matter how we do it.

Case in point, there were so many actual red flags throughout the date that girl described and she STILL went and acted like him not driving was worthy of mentionning... girl... Come on.
Not driving is not a red flag, there's so many reason why someone would not drive, including simply choosing not to.
There are other ways to get around.

Back in the late 90's, before there were online dating and dating apps, there were phone personal ads, where you could listen and respond to voicemail ads. I met someone this way, and we agreed to meet at a TGI Friday's the following Saturday night. When we met up there, he told me he didn't want to eat there and wanted to go to another restaurant instead. So I followed him in my car to another restaurant, but it turned out to be closed. He suggested I follow him to yet ANOTHER restaurant. As I'm following him, he picked up speed like he was trying to lose me! At a light, I stopped my car, got out, went over to his car, and told him to slow down. He told me to meet him in a shopping center parking lot up ahead. As soon as we pulled into parking spots, he backed out and drove away! To add insult to injury, it started to pour rain, and I got so upset while I was driving home that I ended up going taking a curve too fast and blew out two tires.

I was at an art show selling prints of my art when this dude I thought was really attractive came up and started flirting. He bought a few prints and we exchanged info and everything, and not even a week later, he reached out to me and we made a date! I was so so excited, and the date was….a bit awkward. He actually came over to my house, met my family, and would NOT stop trying to put the moves on me (he did the “let’s compare hand sizes thing” and everything 😭), but he was nice enough and I still thought he was attractive, so we made a second date 😅 we went to the mall to see a movie, and then walked around some. That’s when his “mansplaining” side came out and he would NOT stop talking about himself; if I tried to say something he would have to “explain” it to me like I was a moron who didn’t know anything (he explained to me that a cookbook is a book with recipes in it 🤯) but the one good thing about that date was I found a copy of DOOM Eternal which has since become one of my favorite video games ever 😆 but long story short, everything kind of ended when I offered to go to an amusement park that was like 20 minutes away, and he offered to get an Airbnb for the night…for a 20 minute drive…on our third date. I decided I didn’t want to end up on dateline and called things off; MAJOR red flags that I’m glad I avoided 😭

One day decided enough was enough and enrolled in a driving class much to the astonishment of my mother and other relatives . Practiced driving for two to three hours every day ( apart from the driving lessons ) for two months with my uncle shouting in my ear non stop . Happy to say I got my driving licence two weeks back . At the ripe age of 40+ . Now I am teasing my cousin who promised to get me a new car of my choice if I learnt to drive . 😊

All safety precautions. And I'm still alive after a few blind dates that went...weird. Make a code word for your closest in case of emergency.

As a woman, I always tell someone about the date, usually my mom and best friend and tell them where, when, the person's details and their picture, etc. When I get home I'll also let them know. Safety is incredibly important, especially for women! Men should also be cautious and concerned with their safety too, but they are less likely to get hurt than women. But just because they are less likely to get hurt, it's never zero chances.

I accidentally brought a date to a first date. 🤦🏾‍♀️
I high school, a guy I liked and flirted with asked me if I wanted to ride with him to the local carnival. Considering we were best friends and he had a hopeless crush on my girl best friend and he often gave me rides, I didn't think anything about it. I invited another guy I liked and he agreed to meet me there.
At the carnival, the guy who invited me, Pat, offered to go on the ferris wheel with me, which was a big deal since he's deathly afraid of heights, but he did it for me. While we're on the ride and he's about to try to get romantic, I spy the date I asked to come walking through the crowd and call to him excitedly. Pat doesn't really say anything and looks uncomfortable.
Afterwards, my friends corner me to ask why I brought a date. I am confused and wondering why they care and they inform me that I was already on a date that he'd been planning with them for weeks! I felt horrible and just casually told the guy I'd invited that we should just chill with the group instead of on our own. He spent the night flirting with all of my friends and I went home humiliated. That guy ended up turning down an invite to the prom and went with my friend instead after telling me that the reason he turned me down was because he wasn't into dances.
As for what happened with Pat? Well, after I apologized for the confusion we remained close friends and I went to the prom with him instead. Long story short, we've been together for almost 28 years, happily married for 23 years and have 4 amazing children. The other guy was divorced a couple of times and I never hear about him. I made the right choice by marrying my best friend, even if I accidentally brought a date to our first date!

I wanna say that it's kinda ironic she was acting like he was sketchy af and failing to realize SHE was the red flag in that relationship.
I mean girl acts like it's so quirky that she's a terribly driver and her bf had to drive her everywhere because she never bothered to just drive better and then goes one and says, out loud, "my room is super messy and i like sleeping in a clean room, but i'm not willing to clean for myself" and still goes on acting like she's not a forest of red flags.
Bro was rude af for sure, you don't tell your girlfriend to sleep in the car right after you smashed multipled times but she wasn't a perfect little angel either. If a man told me he wants to sleep in my room because he feels entitled to a clean bed even though he won't clean his own, i wouldn't want him sleeping in my bed either.

The boys not asking to sleep over cause it "means something" is the best example of boy math I've heard so far 😂
