My mom told me she actually went to a wedding years ago where this 4yo boy was growling the entire way as he walked down the aisle with the rings, even occasionally pausing and snarling at a few guests. When asked after the ceremony what that was all about he answered, “Well….they told me I was the ring bear.” 😂

My own sisters(identical twins) decided to cut ties with me because I was being diagnosed with bone cancer and couldn't do anything and spent most of my time in bed. They said I was faking my illness and my faintings to draw attention and to make them do all the chores. When I confronted them in tears after I overheard them mocking me for 'fake fainting', they rained insults on me, have not spoken to me ever since and behave like I don't exist, especially because my parents are doing everything to comfort me. I cried for days straight and was traumatized and Up till now I fear meeting them because of how they treat me. Ever since that heart breaking betrayal, no behavior from anybody surprises me again.

As a person who was raised catholic, the sprinkling of Holy Water on objects being anointed (such as wedding bands) is common practice in that faith. Having said that, the ring bearer was simply collateral damage. He wasn’t the target of the sprinkling but as he was holding them, that little scepter doesn’t make it easy to control the aim of the priest. Simply put, the guy got hit with overspray and was not the target. Although he does look like he could use a good dousing, ngl! 😉😂🤣

I'll be asking people polity on the invitation not to wear white so if they then turn up in a white dress they will be getting red wine on them.

I would like to make a confession here: I wore an ivory cocktail dress to a friends wedding when I was 19. I had been to a lot of weddings - almost all family, but I guess I never got the memo. I felt so beautiful in this dress I didn’t think anything of it. No one really said anything besides one lady who I didn’t realize till much later was pissed at me. I still feel hella guilty to this day. I would just like to have it be known - sometimes it’s an honest mistake. I really was not malicious. But tell your friends - maybe they have no idea and you’ll save them from a faux pas. I’ve made peace with this whoopsie I had, as I actually ended up leaving the wedding early and having my first date with my partner of 10 years.
That couple was divorced in less than a year.
Still feel the guilt tho - tell your friends NO WHITE.

That first story… there’s a really respectful, lovely way to deal with that situation. Explain it on your wedding site, shout them out on the day of your wedding, amp them up, support them going through a hard time, and be grateful that it wasn’t a financial loss for you. It’s not hard to be a nice person. You could literally be like “we’re gonna be a bridesmaid short, and this is why.. we wish her all the best and we support her decision.” The reason she opted out was because she didn’t want to let the bride down! It was totally selfless! She clearly tried so hard to be there for her, and finally realized it wasn’t gonna happen. Better to do it on short notice than to do it on the day of! I was a bride last year, and we had a MASSIVE wedding. I can’t imagine being this disgusting about a day that’s supposed to be amazing and perfect and all about LOVE.

I wore cream to a wedding 10 years ago and still feel bad for it. There's no excuse. I was in the middle of finals and struggled to find anything to wear and I was so relieved when I finally found something. It didn't faze me that it was cream until I was at the wedding. I was so embarrassed I stayed sitting at my table the whole time until the groom (my fiance's best friend) pulled me up to dance with everyone. The bride was very understanding, but I will NEVER do it again.

A sick bridesmaid can not be there for the bride, and she wanted someone who could be there for you to be there. She is a good friend for keeping your special day about you and your groom instead of chanceing an episode and taking the attention away from you. When I got married, my nephew was 5. He of course was my ring bearer. When he went to his fitting, he became so upset because he thought it was going to be a bear suit. He was heartbroken. I told my sister in law that he could 100% rock a bear suit, which I probably shouldn’t have said in front of him, but I thought it was awesome. She put her foot down and said no, so then he asked if he could wear his Batman costume, which again I thought was awesome, but his mom also put her foot down on. I’m still mad at myself for not fighting for him to wear one of his choices that day. However, he looked very handsome in his tux and was happy he got to dress just like his Dad, so it all worked out. Still wish it would’ve been a costume though. Wow. I am SO glad I got married in the 90s and not now. there wasn’t such an emphasis on “it’s the brides day“ or having a deluxe wedding with dinners and entertainment and all. I think my budget for my wedding was $2000. My two sisters and best friend were bridesmaids, I gave them a color swatch each and asked them to get a dress that matched it that they could wear again, so they weren’t wasting their money. I wore my mother’s gown that she had made for herself out of ivory slub silk. My oldest sister had worn it before me, but I didn’t see the problem with that; after all, it was a handmade wedding dress that Mom had sewn.
My then fiancé had his two brothers and best friend as his groomsman. My boss took the pictures for me, and they all turned out beautifully. Our wedding music was done by two professional contra dance musicians. They played “haste to the wedding” for the trip up the aisle, and “the bride’s a Bonnie thing” for the recessional. After the ceremony we had cake and contra dancing (a community folk dance done with partners, very fun.) I was so happy just to have my friends and family sharing the day with us, with everybody laughing and talking and having a great time. I don’t even think we had alcohol, except for maybe some champagne. The marriage left something to be desired, but the wedding was perfect.

can’t believe the bridesmaid with cancer story! can personally confirm how disappointing it is to have to exclude yourself from the lives of people you care about. my very close friend and former college roommate asked me to be a bridesmaid before i started struggling severely with a chronic illness. i was *beyond* excited to be in her wedding, but when things got bad i had to tell her that i would try my hardest to make it work but there was a chance i would not be up to being there for her wedding (which was also in a distant state, requiring expensive travel which would be hard on my health). i communicated this with her when it became apparent that my situation was chronic & she was beyond understanding just really wanted me to be at the wedding if i could (bc omg we are so close & she had been in my wedding too!) i ended up having to forgo all of the pre-wedding stuff including the bachelorette weekend which would have been the first i ever got to participate in & my chance to meet the other bridesmaids as well as celebrate my friend. i was so sad to not do all the bridesmaid things but luckily had made enough progress that i got my ass to that wedding & was there for her! it was tough on my health for sure but i’m so glad i could make it.
my situation was luckily not as bad as the girl in the story having cancer but i know for a fact that a real friend would NEVER treat someone like that! just totally lacking empathy for the girl’s situation & being so horribly passive aggressive is insane to me! clearly she was sad that she couldn’t fulfill the bridesmaid role but still cared about the bride. so sad

I took my now late wife clothes shopping for business wear. My wife was still rockin' that Jersey girl look with flat-heeled suede boots, animal print scarves, oversized tee shirts with kittens and so on and so forth.
Between me and the sales girl at...Kathryn's, I think it was, the woman looked fire!
We did one of those, what do you call them, those capsule wardrobes where you can mix and match articles and accessories. She ended up with enough clothes that we figured she could go for a month and not wear exactly the same outfit twice.
I wasn't judging her. While she was a big girl, I was fine with that. I was judging her abysmal taste in clothing. Said the guy who thinks Dockers and polo shirts are as dressy as anyone needs to be.

Why is it such a fuss if someone wears white to a wedding? No one will outshine a bride no matter what they wear! A simple white dress simply doesn't compare to a bridal gown. No one will have the glow about them that is the brides'. I couldn't care less what anyone wears. I'd just be happy to be getting married. No one in a white dress gets to walk down the aisle, be married at the front of the church, and walk back down the aisle with all eyes on them. They make a grand entrance at the reception, sit at the bridal table, and are the first to dance, with their husband, while everyone is watching. People take the floor and flatter both her husband and the bride, in their speeches. They are the centre of attention the whole day/night. It's a very insecure and needy bride who puts so much attention on what someone wears to their wedding. A lady can look stunningly attractive in any colour dress and draw attention to herself!

Hey Charlotte, I wanted to point out something I think you missed with the bridesmaids argument about the boyfriend. There was 1 line in the text that I think tells the whole story. The entitled bridesmaids says “ it doesn’t matter if we have our own room but I just like having him next to me” meaning that she wanted to bring him along even if she had to share the room with another bridesmaid. She was disgustingly entitled and gave no consideration to the comfort of any bridesmaid who had to share the room with her and her boyfriend. I think it’s reasonable to assume that this boyfriend would be a complete stranger to the other bridesmaids and therefore would make sharing the room very uncomfortable. But even if they aren’t strangers, sharing a room with a couple in the bed next to you would also be very uncomfortable. So she really expected the paying bridesmaid to finance their vacation.

Girl no. He was rating the dresses, not her, and she asked him to do it ...there's literally no drama there at all..chill

She also seemed to have on similar dresses so the ratings were the same. Looks like he doesn’t like lacy dresses? Curious to see what type of dress he does like. I personally didn’t care for any of those either. Not my style , I guess. I like something simpler.

Exactly it would have been worse if he said "omg 11/10 i love this one why didnt you pick it?" to a dress she didnt like in the frist place... I think He was just encouraging her that she made the right choice

We didn't have a wedding and not once in 41 years have I regretted it. The marriage is what is important.

The t-shirt idea is awesome 😊 That nice green shade with “I am not the bride” written on it 😂

Hi! I’m Catholic and can explain the Holy Water!
The water sprinkler is caller an aspergillium and it used to used bless people, things, places, etc with holy water! The priest was only trying to bless the rings but I have definitely experienced priests getting personal vengeance out and getting absolutely soaked during Mass lol

I was at an Easter vigil mass last year at an army base. There was this group of about four young priests in chaplain training, all helping celebrate the mass with their older mentor priest, in this tiny chapel with maybe a dozen people total in attendance. Those dudes had so much fun drenching each other -and us - with holy water. It was hilarious! Priests are human too!

I fullly condone “accidentally” spilling red wine on a guest who wears white. 1000% yes 👍🏽

Ahhhhh! Chris Klemens being holy-watered at his brother's wedding, I listened to him tell the story, seeing it was hilarious. Two of my favorite content creators in ONE VIDEO?! ❤

Great insights, Charlotte. 💜 I think social media has contributed to all of us being more hyper-REactive, as opposed to thinking things through and giving serious issues more consideration. I hope that at some point soon, the bride who disassociated herself with the bridesmaid undergoing chemo will become more mature and realize her error in judgment, and hopefully, make an amends. That is just heartbreaking. 💔☹

I think what was so heartbreaking about the lady with cancer was not just that the bride was so cruel but that she was getting negative comments in the group, what is wrong with people 😢
