  • Adam has recently discovered what he believes to be the first x-pack widebody-special that Ford ever made which was also featured in several episodes of the classic British 70's cop show 'The Professionals'.
Surrounded by mystery, it dissappeared off the radar decades ago but he takes us through why he believes this is 'the one'.
Take a look and decide for yourselves whether or not he has found the holy grale of mk2 Ford Capris.

What i suspect happened with the engine, (just a shot in the dark really) is that when it went for the X pack, they swapped the engine with a like for like engine that had the mods already done as it stated head work, so would make for a quick turn around and getting the cars out, the original engine would then have probably been modded to the X pack spec and put in the next car that came in to get the mods :) as i say just a shot in the dark but is a practice i have seen used within the modding world :)

@@arthurdardalis I know that was why it wasn't for sale in Europe but the question I was trying to ask (which admittedly I missed out! Apologies!!) Is was it ever fitted with the X pack kit in Argentina? If they were fitted with the X pack would it have been the toned down version fitted to cortina saloons or far more beefy? I didn't know that the mk5 cortina front was fitted to the coupe until I found a model of one a couple of years ago at a BTCC race meeting. The box the model is in is entirely in Spanish, so obviously it was made for the Argentinian market. I assume it made its way to the UK as part of a job lot. The different versions of the same Ford cars supplied to different countries has always peaked my interest. For example the four door mk2 Escort RS2000 and the upmarket surf Escort van that were both sold in Australia, that certainly weren't sold in Europe. Also we didn't get the cortina P100 pick ups here until mk5 cortina style was released. It would be a real attention grabber to take a Taunus SP5 to the UK classic Ford show.

He says "What we BELIEVE to be SOO 636R, Keep an OPEN MIND alot has been done to this car! "I want you to see why I THINK this is the original car" these are his words not mine. How come it's had so much work done? I thought it had been in the former owners garage for over 30 years? So thought it would have still been Black with the accident damage? Engine numbers are part of a cars ID. They should always match the VIN plate and number stamped into the shell, Factory chassis numbers are always stamped straight. One thing that made me laugh is when he says "It's in Red oxide primer for some reason? I don't no why maybe to keep rust at bay or what ever reason" Yet in his garage he has another Capri in the same Red oxide primer! To be honest there were Two guy's long before any one else back in the late 80's early 90's who looked for all the Professionals Capri's. and at that time could only find Two! Some folk may know who I mean but if not watch "The Car's The Star" on the Ford Capri and you will see them. It is on You Tube I believe! They found VHK 11W and VHK 12W and know all about these cars! The video is all smoke and mirrors in my opinion in what he says and what he shows us!

With all due respect I have had hundreds of capris and your criticisms of this vid shows you obviously have not. Yes people need to keep an open mind as there's a car in Ireland that people have been convinced is SOO but that has no numbers at all!! As for the actions of the previous owner i think it's unfair to hold these guys liable really, plus there's only one car in red oxide in the garage Yes Alan j is a guy I know and would give me credit for being able to spot something not genuine. As for the chassis number it is as straight as ford ever did and has the stars before and after that cannot be replicated, I don't know why it's been ribbed in the comments as it's still half full of paint so not totally clear on the video anyway, If you don't think this car is SOO then your welcome to your opinion but the points you have raised are pretty naff really.

@@adsblimey3644 Hi Adam, Thank you for your reply but I was hoping you would answer my questions about the car? I hope you don't mind but there are a few things that I would like to say! Back in 1996 I saw VHK 11W and VHK 12W at a Capri owners Club show. It was the first time they had been seen in public. I was lucky enough to meet and chat to the Two guy's who owned them. There were many photos of how the cars were found, restored and finished on display but there was also a file on the table which most people didn't bother with. I asked if I could look at it which I did and inside were correspondents from the DVLA and the Two guy's regarding the other Proffessionals Capri's! including SOO 636R.
One of the owners came over to me and said you"re one of few people that have bothered looking at that! He said that they have tried to find all of them but according to DVLA records non of the other Capri's used (apart from COO 251T which had been reshelled somewhere along the line) existed at that time! Please remember this is before systems were on the internet. I don't want to say names and say to much about this subject as it's not really my place to say but you seem to know them? I believe one of the guy's still has that file.
Regarding the engine in your Capri. You say the numbers don't match! The chap you bought it off assured you that it is the original engine. It can't be the original engine if the numbers don't match. If AVO removed the engine when Ford owned it there is no way that AVO would have put a replacement engine in it in such a new car. When SOO 636R was new it had tripple webber carbs. There were also one or Two unique things to it's bodyshell. The advert you show doesn't proof that it is SOO 636R for sale. When and where was it for sale? Am not holding the former keeper liable for anything, it's just that you mention him quite alot in your video.
History about it.. In your video you state there is a picture of it in 1991 on your friend's drive. Is he the guy you are talking about? the former keeper? The reason I ask is on Capri World there is a chap called Mark Francis who replies to a question "where was the car collected from?" He says "If you're watching the video infect you'll see that there is a photo of the car painted Black in the late 80's and is on the driveway where we picked it up from." Yet you say the photo was from 1991? You also state that you tried to find SOO 25 years ago which would be 1999 but you couldn't find it. Yet reading inbetween the lines it appears that it's been in the same place for over 30 years! So from the photo on your video of your friend's drive to Mark Francis saying it was collected from the same driveway why would you look for it in 1999? You state that the photo is round 1991 around the year it had the accident!! So if I understand it right The owners friend was driving it on Barnet High Street cira 1991. Why was his friend driving it in London when the owner lived in Essex as stated on Capri World by Mark Francis! Was it crashed by your friend who's driveway it was on or the friend of the owner? As they seem one of the same! Because who evers friend it was the driveway has to be in Essex!! I bet the then owner hit the roof when it was recovered from Barnet! It just seems all abit odd! If you could enlighten me about it? Are there any photos of it with the accident damage? Who has done all the work on the bodyshell. When did you buy it? By the way SOO 636R was built in October 1976. I have SOO 636R original engine number if you need it but am guessing you already know it from the V5c.
