Doesn’t this trace back to Mark Messier as well?
RyGuy 65 yes it does
yes, through Eric Brewer, via Roman Hamrlik, via Bryan Marchment, via Steve Rice (who was a piece in the Messier trade)
🤣🤣
Yes, (i.imgur.com/vl9Fe9X.png) [October 4, 1991] and can also be traced back to Jason Arnott (i.imgur.com/jMy1SLd.png) [January 4, 1998] and Reg Thomas (i.imgur.com/ZxKDptX.png) [August 22, 1979]
RyGuy 65 why do I see you on every damn hockey channel
Always great to hear your comments. Why not do one on the trade where Montreal sent John LeClair to Philly for Mark Recchi, would be interesting
blue jackets trading Rick Nash leading to Kings' 2nd Stanley cup
Nash trade to NY,
brassard and moore to NY,
Gaborik to kings from CBJ
gaborik putting up 14 goals and 8 assists in 26 games to help LA win the cup, all in exchange for Matt Frattin and 2 second rounders
I think the oilers can still thank The Ducks and Pronger for this trade. It was the beginning of their tank fest and it landed them Hall, RNH, Yak (LOL) and lastly McJesus. No way Edmonton gets all those 1st overalls if they didnt trade Pronger.
true Pronger fans loved him in the BLUES.
We knew he was a modern Ray Bourque
I wouldn't mind seeing a trade tree where you follow a player getting traded multiple times, like Chris Pronger and break down the trade tree each time. Maybe not in so much details but enough to say Chris Pronged resulted in x, y, and z for this team and if the trade tree continues.
Rangers wound up with Strome out of this? I’m in favor of the Pronger trade.
Please do more trade trees these are awesome
Can you do Subban and Webber?
U forgot to mention with strome that he had 59 pts in 70 games before the suspension of the season this yr
It speaks to how the oilers did not support or inspire their players to succeed. Bad culture whether the player came via trade or draft or signing. No trade clauses increased in contracts. Good.
It seems like the overall theme of this trade tree is the Oilers have been incompetent for about two decades. Unfortunately they still don't seem to be getting any better at roster management.
Oh GREAT. One of the guys we got for Pronger is Martin freakin Marincin. This team is ruining my life 😂
umm the erik karlsson trade is proving your "whoever gets best player wins trade" theory wrong
So is it me or are we going to ignore that this trade still is evolving with Jordan Eberle was part of the Seattle Kraken expansion draft?? 🤔🧐
look at the date the video was published lol.. cant expect them to update every one of these videos on the channel when a new trade happens lol
It’s Prongers fault the Leafs have Marincin.
Oooooh, well I guess it was worth it after all... (eye roll). I still insist that the ONLY reason the Oilers didn't win the Cup while Pronger was there, was because Roloson got hurt. I mean, some guy who was hardly heard from again got them to Game 7. Including the game they lost after Roloson was hurt (in which they were winning at the time). 100% if Roloson was healthy, the Oilers win it all that year.
How about the jets trading a 1st and lemieux to the rangers for hayes and then 3 months later trading trouba for the 1st they traded away in the 1st trade. And hayes left as a free agent. So the jets traded trouba and lemieux for nothing.
Neal pionk has 45 points with 25 on the PP. I wouldn't call that nothing
Hehehehe Oilers managed to really bugger that up
Every trade ? Lindros trade should be an exeption ?
supra livemusic cut nomercy
Yo
more content like this PLEASE
The Blues signing Scott Stevens in 1990 led to Jordan Binnington.
1991: Blues sign Brendan Shanahan as restricted free agent from Devils. Stevens is awarded to the Devils as compensation.
1995: Blues trade Shanahan to Whalers for Chris Pronger.
2005: Blues trade Pronger to Oilers for Eric Brewer, Doug Lynch and Jeff Woywitka.
2011: Blues trade Brewer to Lightning for Brock Beukeboom and 3rd round draft pick.
2011: Blues use that draft choice for Jordan Binnington
Oh no, the Beukebooms are spreading
Pronger trade was still horrible.
Beukeboom is the only good one there
@@Freewheeler55 How so? He's never played a single game in the NHL.
bluenotefan5 wooosh
The Phil Kessel trade to Toronto. Boston moved the players they picked and players from those trades of the players they did pick
I second this!
@@danieldosso2455 I third this! (A year later edition)
Fun fact, Pronger going to Edmonton helped the Blues in getting Jordan Binnington. It started with the Blues trading Shanahan for Pronger. Then Pronger to Edmonton for Eric Brewer and some other stuff. Then Brewer was traded to Tampa for their 2011 3rd round pick which the Blues used to draft Binnington.
That was insaine
@@jonathanfrimerman8855 It is insane....but it was insane the Blues Ownership thought it was a good idea to get rid of Pronger right before they sold the team.....just another great deal with a Wal-Mart owner and a St. Louis Sports team.....
and to think I was more excited about Brock Beukeboom than the draft pick, at the time
sad fact : once Mr. Pronger got hit in the chest by a puck. He collapsed,
many other players of the time could have been hit in the throat or face...
Tall Chris was ok after it from what I remember... but a scare
The original Pronger trade from Hartford to St. Louis is directly responsible for Cup wins in Detroit, St. Louis, Carolina, and Anaheim.
Steve's face looking 5 years younger without the stress of having to watch the leafs
Please do more of there, I could watch these all day🥳
You gotta do the Nordiques / Flyers (Rangers?)
Lindros deal... You’ll be busy for weeks 😂😂
had to click because this calls to my inner hockey manager
I'm STILL WAITING FOR THE PAVEL BURE TRADE TREE FROM VANCOUVER TO FLORIDA
I'll never forget the video of Steven reacting to the Oil winning the 2015 draft lottery. I'm so bored in quarantine I'm gonna watch it again
Must be bored lol. The rumour in Edmonton back then was Pronger banged someone's wife or someone banged his wife and that's why he actually left Edmonton. Can't remember the story exactly. I was in the 7th or 8th grade at the time.
The rumor was Pronger had a sexual relationship with an Edmonton TV weathergirl. Whether true or not the rumors and accusations could make a player no longer want to play in the city. Another story was that Pronger's wife hated living in Edmonton and wanted to live somewhere far nicer.
she was wealthier then him by far. pronger still sucks. he destroyed oilers for many years
@@vernvip If not for Pronger the Oilers dont even make it to the Finals.
I was at game six, he was the oiler mpv for sure but oil banked a lot to get him and he bolted cause he couldn't keep his jock on.
@@Thynqikan Totally nailed it. Living in Edmonton is bad enough; it's worse when your spouse is boning the local news anchor.
Please do a video on the Oiler's 2012 draft. Follow that one and it's hilariously bad. Yakupov, then they got 4th overall Griffin Reinhardt for picks 15/32 and 15 ended up as Barzal, and the rest of their draft didn't look any better. It couldn't have gone any worse for them.
There's a reason the last two GMs before Holland are not spoken of here in Edmonton, and why we're used to what Holland is doing.
The 1987 Cam Neely trade was felt for over 30 freakin' years! It is still going on! Jacob Zboril is the latest branch of that trade for Barry Pederson. By far the worst trade in Vancouver Canucks history. And after the Loui Errickson free agent signing, it just screams for the Canucks to stay away from anything Boston
Love this trade as a Ducks fan. Love that 2006/2007 Anaheim Ducks team.
How about a video about the historic game where an emergency back up goalie beat the Toronto Maple Leafs?
Thanks Steve
i love these videos
As a Wings fan, I was pretty sad to see Andreas Athanasiou go. He seemed to have a lot of potential but I hope he does well playing with McDavid
It had to happen. I've watched every game for the last few years and it slowly became more & more apparent that he had begun to stick out like a sore thumb in terms of playstyle & philosophy.
Too bad he sucks now tho
Day 12 of quarantine: how the 1950 Stanley Cup Game 3 goal by Max Bentley helped Queen Elizabeth acquire immortality
I think the Lindros trade disproves your point, if you get a young guy there’s always a chance they will do bigger and better things than the big name. Forsberg became a superstar
Plus Lindros screwed Brindamour's (now ex) wife, which led to Brindamour confronting GM Clarke with a "He goes or I go" demand and that's why the better player ended up in Carolina.
Yes!!!! So happy these are back.
If you get really bored and want to go way back, I'd be interested to see how the Phil Esposito trade turned out.
Oscar Klefbom is still with the oilers definitely not a bum 😂👍
Dude why are you so close to the camera
Godfather Box Set this guy is the worst face on the Internet
Makes more intimate as we learn in guptesh cinema academy. Viewer listen more openly and internalize
As an Oilers fan this brings back so many bad memories
Trevor Linden trade tree! please and thank you!
Man... they really need to zoom out on his head. Don't need that much Dangle in my face.
Don’t sit so close to the screen
I wish the Leafs would've made that trade.
Not because Pronger would've made us contenders, but because getting Pronger > Ducks likely don't win the Cup > Burke doesn't become Leafs GM > He can't trade for Phaneuf > Nonis can't sign him to an atrocious contract that doesn't even expire until next year.
You missed one trade. Mark Fraser was sent to L.A for Ryan Smyth
pronger wanted out of edmonton and told people he wanted out which cause his worth to go down... guy could not keep it in his pants and needed to leave to save his marriage
Wow Steve’s really bored right now
Chopper to St Louis? Gilmour to Calgary? Hull to St Louis? Pronger for Shanahan? Scott Stevens St Louis saga (not really a trade but assets moved)... can you tell I’m a Blues fan?
I like this idea, but my god! Do you have to make everything about the Leafs? Christ!
The NYR dumped salary to rebuild a few years ago. Some of those players won the Cup with TBL; Miller moved on to Vancouver; some of the young guns coming up for NYR came from those trades.
The Edmonton Oilers-----Where hockey dreams go to die......
Unless your Gretzky, Messier, Fuhr, etc...
@@danieldosso2455 yeah well look what happened when those players were traded
@@danieldosso2455 Absolutely.... 3 DECADES ago.
Yep, or buffalo, with dishonorable mentions to the panthers and islanders
The oilers are weird in the 80’s and part of the 90’s everything they touched turned to gold. Paul Coffey was their only early pick as mark messier was drafted in the 4th round and Kerri was in like the 9th round
And this tree keeps going. Steve mentions Travis Hamonic here. What he doesn't mention is that Hamonic was traded to Calgary for the draft pick that became Noah Dobson.
Because the Oilers were forced to trade Pronger I think the trade itself was fine, I really love Smid. The problem came with what they did with what they got, with the exception of Eberle and Smid.
Take it back to the start with the Pronger/Shanahan deal between Hartford and St Louis, and it's one of the defining trades in Hartford/Carolina franchise history www.reddit.com/r/canes/comments/l56o8v/as_we_wait_for_the_canes_to_come_back_i_thought/
On the nobody trading a hall of fame caliber player and be successful. The Erik karlsson trade from Ottawa is panning our nicely in Ottawa’s favour, at least so far
i guess you could also look at it like this trade and all the subsequent trades caused the oilers to tank and them tanking landed them mcdavid and draisaitl
The square jar practically skip because bush longitudinally settle under a motionless forgery. staking, electric archeology
You should cover the avs trade blues. Johnson for Stewart and Shattenkirk. That trade set the avs back for years. Regardless of the cup I think avs lost that trade
The Detroit cougars becoming the red wings allowed pavel datsyuk to become a red wing. (These are the dumbest things I’ve ever heard)
The Canucks trading Cam Neely to the Bruins and where that went...
That trade is still alive. Zboril will likely make the Bruins soon, and Kuraly is with them now.
We got hosed
It's okay, Coliacavo sucked for the Blues. Just like most of his career anyway. Dude was a pylon.
A lot of people don’t know how good pronger was, they saw his later years when he was just above average, but man he gave lidstrom a run for his money
Pronger from the 90s... a legend. Better than Derian and Keven Hatcher. Better than Al Macinnis. Alexei Zhitnik. or...Sergei Gonchar (duh , we not taking points!)
loved seing rookie Janne Niinima with the Flyers in the finals vs the Wings.
Dairius Zubrus was another fave then for me , a die hard Detroit fan.
Never forget : Teemu Selannu > Conor McDavid. Teemu had 76 goals as a rookie
"weren't the oilers the closer team?"- no...that final was 2 terrible teams never heard from since. pisani had, what, 13 goals or something? i still stand by carolina being the worst team to ever win the stanley cup.
Dunno, man. Pronger, Smythe, Hemsky, Pisani, Horcoff, Smith, Roloson-that was a pretty money lineup for a time.
pronger is a hall of famer and you listed a lot of grinders. sure, their hard work was enough for 1 finals appearance with the assistance of roloson and pronger and it got smyth overpaid by colorado but none of those guys did anything after. a lot of teams get 1 legit shot at a title: san jose, nashville, vegas etc. if you don't cash in well...
Strome has been great for the Rangers on Artemi's line, 18 and 41 for 59.
AA is useless
Plz do the Canucks Neely trade to Boston it is hilarious, leads to Marchand Bergeron lucic lol
You need to complete the trilogy here. You need to do the trade between Hartford and St. Louis when Hartford traded Chris Pronger to St. Louis for Brendan Shanahan. Not only is that trade tree still alive but it contributed to both St. Louis and Hartford/Carolina both winning the Stanley Cup.
Agreed. Sorry many years late, the pronger (STL) for shanahan (HAR/CAR) trade tree led not only to binnington (STL) but to major contributors for the 05-06 CAR stanley cup winning team (Erik Cole, Brind'Amour, Gerber, Hedican, Adams, etc.). This would be a cool other trade tree to show.
You are a leaf fan and you do not hide your hatred to the anything not leaf at all. It helps your cause to bash the oilers in down playing the good things they got out of the deal
The Penguins have amazing trade trees
Pronger demanded out of Edmonton.... his wife wanted back into the USA
Steve...I'm from Seattle and New to hockey. Thanks for the warm welcome.
Can you do another trade tree but with dumb canucks where they overpayed for someone
Dangle how about the Doug Gilmour to toronto trade...wouldn't that be special
Trade trees are fun!
Ted Lindsay (Red Wings) to the Blackhawks way back when.
Colorado trading duchenne for 7 pieces. Franchise changing trade
The fun thing is, I heard names in this trade (Laurent Brossoit, Cameron Abney, Sam Gagner, etc) that all played in Bakersfield with my Condors.
Edit: I completely forgot about Eric Gryba, and I *LOVED* Eric Gryba on the Condors. Same with Mark Fraser, and Ryan Spooner. Ryan Kuffner, coming over in the Mike Green trade, is a Condor too.
Brossoit did awesome with Hellebuyck.
@Michael Van Bavel I know. But he played in Bakersfield after Edmonton traded for him.
So the rangers ended with Strome thanks to Pronger
and Klefbom and Athanasiou
And of course this tree is tied in with the Gretzky tree because why not?
Damn your bored
Thanks for not screaming like you do in your recent videos
Swap Steve with Shannon...
Please have someone else host this. Interesting concept worst host
DO PAVEL BURE, ALEXANDER MOGILNY, OR PETER FORSBERG
Watching an oilers involved trade tree always hurts
Can you please do the Pat LaFontaine deal to Buffalo?
That Erik Cole trade somehow relates to the pens getting Dumo from CAR I believe which (relating it back to EDM) may lead to the trade that got EDM PIT's 2015 first... Which was then flipped for Griffin Reinhart... I think you all know who that pick ended up...
Speaking about Chris Pronger, he was part of a trade tree that is the worst trade in NHL history starting with Ron Francis, Ulf Samuelsson, and Grant Jennings being sent to Pittsburgh for John Cullen, Zarley Zalapski, and Jeff Parker. You should make a video on this one.
we had trade trees on HFboards since the 1990's
I just had flashbacks of the decade of darkness
roosterteeth plainrock124 apexlegends
I would LOVE it if you did the trade tree that brought Doug Gilmour to Toronto. Def. Cliff Fletcher's best trade at rebuilding the Leafs into a great cup contender.
I'm tired of looking up this guys nose.
***The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim
Lol u have turned out to be my go to daily UA-cam 15 min. Why couldn’t I think of this....do the Boston / Leaf trades which landed Seguin and the entire sage trades there.
Just here to comment. Sabres hit the lottery on this.
I used to live in Chicopee Mass. Watched Briere develop as a Falcon.
He was amazing.
And to add to the mess, strome is now a duck
