    Once the trust and reliability are gone... It's time to move on. What a cool journey though. Learned a lot from your build so thank you.

    It's sad to see a lot of people getting rid of their brzs recently, but I wish you only the best, and hope to see a brand new chapter in this part of your life as well. Can't wait to see whats next and it better not be an FR-S! XD

    I bought a used 2013 last year for around $15K. Anything newer or with less mileage was pushing $20k. These cars keep their value.
    That being said I had to fix the throw out bearing after 8 months and I’ve got it scheduled next month for the valve spring fix. I’ve also replaced the radio which was having touch screen issues.
    Every car as it ages has problems. Just the way it is. The BRZ puts a smile on my face even driving it to work.
    Still enjoy the new car.

    hmmm... should be safe buying a 2013 car then, if the owner recenetly had the engine completely rebuilt cuz of him not adding oil...

      Famous Austin I got rid of my 2007 350z for my 2015 BRZ lol they’re faster but overall package wise the BRZ was a better buy. Way cheaper on gas too 😇

    If you don't do the Valve Spring Recall it will likely reduce your trade-in-value, because the dealer will have to have it done at his time and expense. Dealers don't like dealing with cars that have 'outstanding' recalls.

      yohance stephens what kind of problems could be happening with the vehicle if the valve springs aren’t good? My 2013 BRZ has been acting up and I’m wondering if it’s related.

  • @KehY91

    I here ya. I have a 2013 brz owned for 3 years and within those years, I ended up dishing out $4000 in repairs. Replaced clutch cuz of a shitty throw out barring, a few months later CEL comes on and car goes into limp mode and i ended up having to replace ECU oil control valve and cam sprocket assembly (passenger side) at dealer for over $2700, despite motor being well taken care of. It doesn't end there, a few months after that CEL comes on with the same issue but now on the driver side! Had it checked at Subaru and they quoted 900+ for cam assembly replacement. And to mention another problem, my driver side window has a large vertical scratch from power window roller cutting into the glass and also stock headers are starting to leak. Now I have a recall letter for a valve springs (FML). All the money I've planned to use for mods have all gone into repairs and I've just about given up. It's a huge shame cuz I enjoy driving the car but it's becoming a money pit. I'm trying my best to hold on to my BRZ cuz getting rid of it would be a wast of $$$$$

    take my car for example, vw scirocco 2012 model 1.4 turbo with 0 recalls. vw cars are known with their check engine lights, which happens all the time with me due to carbon buildup within the intake valves inside the engine. Although I take a good care of it wash it every weekend with shampoo treatmentzzz, oil change, check tire pressure, wheel alignment blah blah blah. My point is there is nothing called a "perfect car". okay its perfect for you but the reliability issues is another story. its like taking care of your new born baby you know hes perfect, but yet he gets cold or flue thats not a problem. we learn from our cars and what causes the problem same as our kids why did they get cold. Anyhow, I am cheering you up and hope you meet your new career

    Fantastic. I will be sad when I give up my 15yo, 136k mile, 1.8t gti that I drove off the lot in '04 which has been virtually flawless, for a BRZ (limited) and hope to have a similar relationship with it as I had with the GTI. Thanks for sharing.

    im guessing a BMW M235i. Ive driven both the BRZ and a M235i and they handle relatively the same. The M235i feels a little heavier but has more power forsure. Anyways I hope you love whatever you buy

  • @TeaBubblez

    Dealer won't take your car because recall isn't done. People also will likely offer less because if they buy they'll have to bring it in for recall and face Subarus wrath for modifying the engine... So gl!

    Glad you're following your gut! Owning a modified car is not for everyone. For what it's worth, I got my recall done, it was a great experience. Got a new clutch and sparkplugs installed with no labor charge. At 50k miles, my car hasn't had a single thing go wrong (not even TOB). Excited to see what you're moving on to

    • @xFlared
      @xFlared 5 років тому

      The major issue isn't the it's the first model of the car. The engine was not made for forced induction, therefore it is natural to have issues down the road when you have turbo in it.

      I ended up fixing the code I had. It ended up being a generic code that most BRZs in my year get. Just had to replace my oil control valve and it never came back.

      Armann Singh the 2017 versions r the most reliable

    • @Alexander-sr5fg
      @Alexander-sr5fg 5 років тому

      The car is reliable. The actual issue only affected a handful of these cars, but they're forced to do a recall by best business practices. It's completely optional (unless you're in California) and as I said, if your car has over 30,000 miles, I doubt anything will happen - if the springs were bad, they'd have given out in the first 10k.

      Tengiz TV If you find one in good shape with low miles then yeah for sure. If it’s a manual, the throw out bearings start going bad around 50K miles so watch out for that
