- Participants of the National Press Club conference, “The More Dangerous State of the World and the Need for Fit Leadership,” have issued the following collective statement:
National Press Club Conference Statement
This election comes at a most important turning point in the nation’s history.
For these reasons, top national security experts and leading mental health experts came together as never before, on September 27, 2024, at the National Press Club in Washington, DC, to participate in an unprecedented conference.
The theme was, “The More Dangerous State of the World and the Need for Fit Leadership,” organized by the World Mental Health Coalition and led by Dr. Bandy Lee.
The experts feel it is most important to inform the country of the conclusions they collectively expressed:
· Mental fitness is a medical issue, not a political one.
· The immense powers of the presidency require that anyone elected to that office be mentally fit.
· In the Nuclear Age, a president must understand that there is no security without mutual security.
· Fitness for duty and dangerousness are different evaluations than diagnosis of mental illness.
· Donald Trump has demonstrated signs that could make him unsuitable and dangerous for the White House.
The experts tackled how our country is governed, by whom our country is led, and whether the institutions of our democracy are sufficiently resilient and self-correcting to meet the dangers and challenges of our time.
We urge all Americans to watch the 1.5-hour video summary of the conference, at DangerousCase.org.

Check that you are registered. Check that your friends, church, workplace and family are registered. Make a voting plan. Vote ASAP! The sooner you vote the sooner the Harris campaign can focus on the swing, low information and undecided voters. Drive anyone you know to vote.
Donate, phone bank, knock on doors, write postcards, drive folks to vote, ring up and volunteer, show folks Dr Bandy Lee 's talks, phone bank for Jon Tester and do anything that needs to be done. Every minute counts.
Stacy Abrahams just did a great podcast on voting. At the end there is great suggestions for action. The podcast "Hysteria" just did a great show on must win seats. Great women to vote and volunteer for.
You, I and like minded people need to vote for Harris and Walz.
I think it could be helpful to gather some friends into a support group and to meet regularly. Discuss the problems in your community and choose simple, constructive ways to improve things. Encourage one another as you try to implement these ideas. You might figure out how to be friendlier and more supportive to the less educated members of your community as well as to the immigrants and people of colour. How can you build good will and cohesion? Perhaps you can use existing festivals or community occasions. Can you improve existing festivals e.g. Christmas and Easter, 🎉by reaching out to needy people? Even though you're feeling anxious, can you use courtesy and friendly smiles to bring calm and caring into shopping centres, workplaces, places of worship, etc?

When I watch a video on UA-cam in which somebody says, "How is it possible that so many people still support Trump???" --- I often leave a comment recommending the work of Dr. Lee, who answers that question clearly and concisely. But that comment always gets censored by UA-cam. Can anyone explain why that is?

All social media platforms are biased towards Trump's rhetoric. The algorithms have been set to promote certain points of view. Billionaire media owners want their Trump tax cuts.
I have been following troll farms and bots. Troll farms report anyone and anything that challenges Trump's talking points.
To get around this I suggest that listening to Dr Bandy Lee who has been talking on UA-cam about Trump and how that impacts Americans.

Dr. Lee, it warms my heart to know that the conference was met with enthusiasm and culminated in success. Again, I cannot stress enough how utterly disgusting it is that that you and your colleagues have been met with such egregious degree of irreverence in the past. I have yet to catch up to all of the distinguished professionals but the few I did listen to have left me feeling somewhat relieved in knowing that my concern over the potential apocalyptic threat of Donald Trump is justified. I have always felt that though he may stand alone, as other tyrants have and do, he can only sustain his power as long as he has control over his base and with the promotion and defensive stance of his sycophancy. And as you say, the bottom line is that the ultimate power lies in the voters to be rid of him. Seriously, he's like the guy who wormed his way to a party that ended but just won't leave. I thank you and your colleagues for offering your voice. It may seem as if it's been at the eleventh hour. Regardless, this really is the one and only chance we have to save the country. And your coalition is that last vestige to provide the much needed impetus to turn ignorance and apathy into action. We not only have to win, but we have to win big in order to keep the dark forces that have been put in place and await the order to charge at bay.

HELP!!! How do I help my son who has drank the red Kool-Aid? He used to be a kinda loving young man. Now he is a...hateful, Trump believer. I'm so hurt by his attitude and he is unhinged. I'm so scared for his safety, physically and most Mentally. It breaks my heart. 😭😭😭
I don't know the answer, but maybe the following might help. Try to talk about non-political stuff. Notice good stuff about him and comment on that, e.g., Your car is looking terrific. That polish brings out the shine. Or ... maybe chat about his dog, and how it's going. Is football a non-political topic? Try to avoid politics. If he makes sweeping statements about immigrants, have some simple facts ready e.g. apparently, many immigrants do jobs that other Americans prefer not to do e.g. food harvesting, so that's helpful. Then change the subject and don't argue the details. Similarly, if he says something racist, you could say, "Well, Mary at work is a person of colour, and I enjoy her company." That's something he can't really deny. Quickly move to another topic, leaving that bit of reality-therapy to do its quiet work. Hope that helps a bit.

Hi! Yes, Dr Steven Hassan discusses in detail how to talk to someone indoctrinated into the Trump cult. You can look up UA-cam videos that feature him offering advice. It’d be great if you could get his book. One thing to remember is logic WONT work…his brain has been temporarily high jacked by Trump indoctrination. Don’t argue, as hard as that is. As the others have mentioned, keep up non-political communication with your son. Keeping a connection with him is key! Don’t give up on him…follow Dr Hassan’s advice and make sure your son knows you love him, no matter what. Best wishes… he WILL come around in time.❤️
