Call it Ciarán For Your Life or something… just get someone to cook it for you who knows that mashed potatoes don’t get cooked in a fucking microwave (I’ll do the cooking if you want decent versions, I’ll just eat it when you’re dying in the corner, and I promise I’ll be nice about it)

Actually a proper fascinating vid. Never believed everyone should like everything, does my head in when people comment on what you should and shouldn’t like, cause it’s different to them. Food taste is unique for everyone and everyone is allowed their own taste, literally
Omg I’m the exact same. It’s so comforting to see a UA-camr talk about this and embrace it. As it’s really not easy trying new foods or foods that people thing would’ve be an issue
This video is one of your best (recently) for me. Made me cackle and it's clear this was actually quite difficult for you. Also the little shout out of respect to your girlfriend was so cute. Well done and thank you for the content.
My brother is a picky eater primarily as a result of not liking certain textures. He mostly eats meat (eg, chicken, steak, bacon, calamari; he doesn’t really eat fish), lightly steamed broccoli, bread, and things like chips or nuggets. He’ll sometimes eat lettuce, apples, or raw/nearly raw carrot, and similar things, plus has no issue with things like chocolate or other junk foods lol. He’s relatively recently been trying more marinades, spices, etc, and trying more foods he previously wouldn’t have (he tried a cucumber the other day; he had to bin it part way through, but I was happy he tried it). He also recently tried satay chicken at a Thai place we were at because it was the only thing on the menu we thought he might eat and he really enjoyed it. He’s learned to enjoy so many new foods. In fact, there was a time years ago when he’d not have eaten calamari, carrots, and other things he’ll sometimes eat these days. Yet he now loves calamari so it’s really great he’s been more adventurous with his eating habits, and I think it’s great you are too. Even if you try things and quickly realise they’re not for you, at least then you know, and if you do discover something you love in the brief moment of trying the food then you can always enjoy it moving forward too. Ironically I think I’m sometimes just as difficult to find somewhere I can eat at as my brother is. I’m allergic to most seafood, which usually eliminates half a menu. I also don’t like bacon (usually I can request no bacon but I swear they put it in everything). I’m mildly lactose intolerant; I will still often eat dairy, but it can make me sick to have too much and I’m not taking the gamble while out, so that rules out creamy pasta dishes, milkshakes, etc. It’s common for things like scrambled egg to include milk too so even that could be a gamble. I like almond milk in tea and stuff, but many places only have soy milk, which also makes me sick. I’m not the biggest fan of bread or chips although I will eat them (thinner the better), but I don’t like thick bread rolls. I’m typically not considered a picky eater because I eat stir fries, curry, soup, etc that includes many ingredients and is the opposite of what picky eaters usually eat, yet realistically I’m just as picky as many picky eaters lol. Most restaurants have something my brother will eat, but many (especially breakfast places and cafes) don’t have something I will. So I think what makes a picky eater is somewhat subjective. Wherever you are, there’s probably somewhere around that could do you some chips and chicken. People who complain about picky eaters not wanting to eat at some places usually only care because they themselves are picky imo.
You're a proper hero. 👌 I'm weird about food too - I don't eat cheese, I don't eat eggs, I don't like bread, etc. - but the thought of trying this stuff ON CAMERA fills me with horror.
As a Japanese person the sushi part absolutely killed me, I don’t rly care that he didn’t like it, but the fact that he bought VEGIE SUSHI from ASDA and poured the soya DIRECTLY on the rice
The more you try, the more exciting food becomes. Often cooking food yourself helps with this, as it comes with a sense of pride. The more flavors you experience and become familiar with, the more confident you will become, new flavors should always be exciting!
This is the most mental video i have ever seen, microwaving mashed potatoes, absolutely cremating both a hot crossed bun and more unbelievably a soup! Cannot wait to see more kitchen calamities next time.
I completely understand the anxiety around trying new foods. I’ve tried to push myself to try new foods too. Good on you for giving them a go instead of judging them on everything BUT taste. I wouldn't eat a tomato soup either, but a good chicken one is actually pretty tasty (coming from someone who never used to eat soup). You've got to experiment with different types. I feel like you should take recommendations from friends who eat the foods you haven’t tried for the part 2. (Also, chunky may sound unappetising, but you might surprise yourself if you try it). Also, you haven’t tried gravy? You’ve got to try a full roast, Yorkshire puddings included,
Trying new foods can be terrifying, especially if you have an eating disorder or sensory issues. This was an emotional video to watch. Very proud of you Ciarán :]

I guess I’m usually cooking for more than one though. I used to like sometimes adding a bit of cheese to the mash. And sometimes a bit of pepper or chives.
I relate a lot to this. I'm autistic and have sensory processing disorder so have issues with eating certain textures of food, and when I find a food that I like, I will only want to eat that same thing over and over again until I find something else.
Despite me eating everything I can lay my hands onto and usually loathing picky eaters, I have to show respect towards your courage since you really seemed to struggle with trying new stuff. Greetings from Finland , keep on eating stuff that you consider off-putting or weird, you never know what you might learn to love! I do seriously think that learning how to use a pan can really be amazing. It's so fun to see foods online or on TV and looking up a recipe and making it yourself. You can start small, by learning basic things like stirring and using the appropriate amount of heat. Just trying to boil an egg in the way you like can be fun, or trying to make something with an easy recipe that you love to eat when you're going out. It's really worth it (if you want to of course, but if you can manage everything like this, that is fine too)!
Please show us how you think mash is made, I have a feeling that would be gold (Also having now watched the end of the video I wanted to say how moved I was, seeing someone being open about something that many would be quick to laugh at, good job on pushing yourself!)

The way you said LASAGNE. It broke my italian heart
Lots of us pronounce it that way as a joke
@@tiki_riot ah ok ahahah 🤣
I needed this series in my life
Never related so much to a video. Loved it
ciaran, respectfully, i think you have ARFID
Never too late to try new things especially foods there will be one out there that you'll like and glad you tried
Honestly so nice to know I’m not alone with that weird food anxiety. I used to be exactly the same as a kid. Thank you!
11:12 killed me 😂 so unexpected 😂😂😂
Ciarán you burnt the hot cross bun you fool. fair play for not liking the raisins though, understandable
I am fond of slightly overdone things because c r u n c h
@@ciarancarlin i do love a good crunch myself tbf. well done to you for trying all the new foods though! very brave mate.
you should be so proud of yourself. well done man
05:08 “grow-up child” but is afraid of most food
You know it’s bad when he thinks you need a microwave to make mashed potato
7:52 this like watching a dog trying to figure out the Bridge of the USS enterpirse
I am also not a big fan of trying new foods I have the same like 20 that I eat constantly and avoid trying anything else so good for you!
🤣🤣🤣you’re so fricken funny. Howling at the ‘hypocrite’ statement. Your editing is up there with the best as well!!
Claims to only cook frozen pizzas, then decides Big Macs aren’t good for him. God, make your mind up Ciarán.
Went in with a whole can of soup, finished with a sliver of a bowl :P
In any case, good job on getting yourself to try new things! I used to be a very picky eater until I took those first steps, and now I try new things all the time (within boundaries).
Can’t believe I just watched ciaran eat lunch and cry about it
Ciaran trying new things is an excellent new series. Lovin' it
Damn I never had you down as such a conscientious and thoughtful eater. I figured you'd be a mindless sausage roll and big Mac muncher like a lot us common folk.
Props! Oh and this is a banger 🙌
Fair play for trying new things.
Watching Ciaran is like watching mr bean you have no idea what’s gonna happen next or how he will react
Really like the style of this video it's quite appealing for some reason
my new favorite thing is happy ciaran eating a Twix 3:42
massively feel you on this one mate, can be much harder and much more of a mental thing than people let on so well in and good job having a laugh with it,
might be worth donating a small amount to a foodbank however 👍
I know it sounds ridiculous to some people, but I'm really glad this video was created and posted. It was clearly hard for him to try new foods and probably stressful to post this, but I can pretty much guarantee it helped people in a similar situation with food.
So... that Huel stuff is absolutely rank!
Well done boi, much courage here, keep trying new things, variety is the spice of life ygm fam
burnt hot crossed bun, grocery store sushi, mashed potato without toppings, burnt soup. what you doin mate
Truly living life 🤘🏻
