Totally enjoyed your demo and have saved it to my android tablet. Still haven't fathomed how to attach the attachments to the side of the Dyson, but only built it from it's packaging yesterday!! Thankyou for taking the time to produce this video.
Great review, glad they are people out there like yourself and post these videos for the regular Joe to review. Well you really helped me make my mind up on which Dyson to get. I am going from a regular ole $50 bag type Bissell to this one. I actually ordered it 10 minutes after watching your video. I found a brand new one still in the box off eBay like you said where you got yours and man what a deal I got. I can't wait to see the difference. Thanks again for the video sir.
Hi Justin. Thanks for watching and the nice comment. I'm glad the video was of some help to you. If you are like me you do your research, especially if it's an investment ($$). I can honestly say it's still working great and still shocks me a bit after seeing what it picks up.Good luck with yours and I'm sure you got a good deal on Ebay. Shipping gets a little pricy but still comes out cheaper.Have a good one...let me know if you have any further questions, perhaps I can help.P.S. I did make a couple follow up vids to the vacuum.
Thank you so much for this informative video. You've covered the basics of the DC40 & I'd like to add my experience with the care. For the people that are not satisfied with the performance, there's a reason the Dyson machine comes apart & back together easily... it's to encourage the owner to keep it clean. Besides keeping the filters clean, be sure there isn't anything stuck on the brush area, including pet hair. Slightly tilt your Dyson back & tap the on button a couple of times. If the brushes aren't going around, you need to remove what's causing it. Now that I know that, I love my Dyson! *~*
Deanna LaRay Hi Deanna - thank you very much for the kind comment. The Dyson is a very powerful machine and like I said before I did the video because it works the way I expected and continues to work well. I recently broke down my old Dyson DC07 (Yellow) to see if after 10 years of use - could a Dyson be restored (at home) to almost new condition? It was a success. I took it completely a part - cleaned everything - Canister / Hose / Connections / Cyclone area / Brush area / (pre) Filter / and replaced the (post) filter - Hepafilter (it was black) with a new one. If you even need parts this place seemed reasonable and I purchased the Hepafilter for like $8 (free shipping) (www.crucialvacuum.com) - received the filter in a few days and worked great. As for the old DC07 Vac - works like new! Strong / No more musty odor. As long as the motor still works I wouldn't throw out a Dyson. OK enough rambling on...As for those fine hairs I think you have the right idea to get them out. Thanks again and I hope you have a great day - week - weekend...I'll post the vacuum break down video soon...
23dbeau Thanks for taking the time to watch 23dbeau and comment. If you get one of these vacs I'm sure it'll do the trick. I've had mine for almost 1 year now and it's still working great...;)
Great review, but there is another filter to clean, that is resident in the ball (See the blue key and turn it.Instructions are pasted on the vacuum). Keep both filters clean, per manufacturer's recommendations, and you will love this vacuum. It really sucks!
Thanks for the comment and added info Eileen. I did forget to mention that one, looks like a follow up vid is in order...;) The vac does still work great.Hope you have a nice weekend..
Thanks for watching and for the comment Luke. I'm glad it helped you out. I can say mine is still doing great with no problems. That's about 3 months now. If you have any further questions and think I can help feel free to throw it out there. Have a good one...
Thanks for the review.. Found it extremely useful and helped us decide on our purchase. Fantastic vacuum cleaner. Will use the video again I'm sure to revisit your very helpful tips. Thanks again all the way from Ireland! :)
Jody Maguire Hi Jody and Ireland...Thanks for watching the video and for the kind comment. I'm glad the video helped you out a bit. My vac is still working great so I know you'll enjoy yours. Thanks again and I hope you have a good one!
Just to let you know that Animal does not mean it’s better at picking up pet hairs on the floor. It means it comes with a separate tool that goes on the hose to help pick up hair from above the floor. Also there is another filter in the ball that needs to washing as well as the one in the cyclone.
Great video and very well done. I have been looking at Dyson for years thinking I couldnever afford one. Got lucky with Home Depot one day on-line sale for 55% off this Dyson. I am having a little trouble finding where to put the attachments onto the vacfor storage. I'm sure I will figure it out. Thanks for your review.
Steve Jones Hi Steve Jones - Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. I'm actually putting together another video about "chucking away your old vac or can it be completely refurbished - at home". I am actually taking my old Dyson DC07 (Yellow one) and breaking it down / complete clean / filter changes and see if it will be like new. May work out - may not work out - we'll soon see. Thanks again and hope you have a good one...
Very helpful review, Just bought one, so far loving it, one question does the attachment brush you showed for furniture, beds, pillows etc fit/ store on the machine like the other tools, I can't find anywhere to fit it .. Thank you ...
+Multiwabbit mee Hello multiwabbit - thanks for your comment / question..sorry for my delay in response. Good question. As for me I just attach the turbine brush into the top of the handle. As long as the handle is in place when doing regular vacuuming the brush does not become activated. The brush will only start spinning when the handle is removed or pulled out to use the hose. Hope that helps you out a bit...
Rajan Chahal Good day Rajan. Thanks for watching and for the comment. I've seen several different comments ref the Dyson some good / some not so good. All I know is the thing works really well and it continues to preform. Good luck with your choice and I hope you enjoy it. Thanks again and have a good one..
Hi Maysa, thanks for the comment. Absolutely. If you are like me you'll be amazed (or a bit shocked) when you see what's been vacuumed up. Every time I dump the canister I think "wow". It picks up a lot of dust and "people" hair also. If you haven't used one of these before, I think you'll be somewhat surprised and glad of what you know you removed from your family. I'm actually about to make another video ref the DC40 as an update. Thanks again for the comment and Good luck to you and your family :)
Hi Shovik. Thanks for watching. The vacuum stands up right by the two support wheels that are positioned just behind the one larger (ball) wheel.I've found that while gripping the handle as you would when using the vacuum, apply a slight bit of downward pressure while pulling the handle back towards you. You should hear a slight snap as the two support wheels disengage and retract upwards as the handle comes back. The vacuum should then work and roll comfortably. When you are finished stop moving the vacuum and return the handle to the upright position which will cause the support rear wheels to lower and snap back into their support position allowing the vacuum to stand upright on it's own. It does feel awkward at first. Just make sure the rear wheels snap back into place when you return the handle back to it's upright position so it will stay in place. I've missed that last position a couple times and the handle will fall free. Thanks again and good luck with that. Hope you have a nice day.
+jeviam You can't be more surprised than I am when I see it's been watched over 17k times all over the world. Aaah, so I get a bad review from time to time...at least I'm trying to help someone out with a little info. Thanks for your little info you shared...
Phil Cummings Hi Phil - many thanks right back at you for taking the time to watch the video and for a comment. It may not be the best video out there but I try to share things that I think may help someone. I can say my Dyson is still working great. Thanks again and I hope you have a great day...
Good review just a little too wordy. Get to the point a little faster and try not to repeat so such. Good job though. I found it very helpful. Thank you very much. Keep it up.
+AdobeTalk Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment Adobe Talks. I've worked on getting more to the point on other videos - things do get wordy when just starting out doing videos. Thanks again and have a good one...

I too love, love to see what the vacuum has picked up. So you're not alone!
Fantastic review, just purchased because of your thoughts. Lets hope it lasts for a long period of time
what a fantastic video. as a teacher i appreciate the clear explanation. it all helped me to understand my new machine. cheers.
