I review the new Ping G710 Iron which comes in the stunning new black finish! I provide launch monitor numbers on it's performance as well as my personal feedback on the looks, feel and which type of golfer this golf iron is aimed at.

I agree with you Michael. They look incredible! I have tried them at my fitters. They are extremely forgiving, super game improvement I believe and also very powerful. I love the black finish but I think over the years the coating might give it up so to speak. Still I think its going to be an extremely popular set of irons for the masses. Irons don't usually excite me but these ones do. What a great offering from Ping!!!!
Another great review Mike. You are picking up the subscribers. No wonder.
Beautiful Iron!
I love these clubs. So easy to hit. Was afraid to go with black clubs but they still look amazing.
Look amazing, not so bulky as the g700. Be nice to see if they go black in the i500 and i210 so you can blend the set
I really like that image, maybe later ping with add silver center in back to match the face. That could be a ball strike aid.
Love the look of these new Pings. 👍🏼 The down side if you want this type of club would be the price 💵 I suppose. 🇺🇸
I'd like to see a comparison vs G700 to see how much it has improved.
Look like VJ Singh old Never Compromise putter. Would be good to get a putter line in that colour scheme Ping
Michael, Have you tried these with those little rubber bits glued to he faces? I think that would make for an interesting video.
Nice review Michael, however I must mention the irons are ridiculously expensive for a 'game improvement' club at about £1,000 for 5 - SW. I also note that the swing weights are unusual with the 4i - 8i C9, 9i C9.5, PW & UW D1 and SW D2. Presumably in the standard shaft.
I want these, I don't struggle with distance but they've given us a true 9 iron (9° of bounce,) I'm thinking of buy the 6-9 weakened and using them as my 7-PW. Then maybe a cambered sole 4-6.
Driver
3w, 5w
4,5,6 cambered (just to narrow gapping down to loft, not ideal for me but I'm making concessions because they've given me a 9 Iron when no one else would)
6-9 (7-10)
3 wedges (50, 53, 56 most likely, will have to test not sure what the "9" iron weakened will be lofted at)
Putter
This would be so much easier if they'd just labeled them correctly. I'm so glad there's a 9 Iron though, even if it is marked as an 8 Iron and over lofted 2 clubs.
Thank you Ping. This might be the most ideal real world ready club for the distance struggling golf ever made.
Looks Stunning, but does it play?
Ping does their own thing
Anyone have any idea how much the grips are to replace with the arcoss tags - I’ve seen some ~ £200 (13 grips) will they be cheaper from Ping?
this looks like one for the books for me G looks more and more looking at my perfect hight
I really hope they make a lower handicap iron like the 210 in this finish... I have the stealth wedges and they look and feel amazing. They are extremely durable unlike other black colored clubs since the finish is like baked on there. Just can't do a club that big with that much offset for that price...
Nice looking club and a good review too. I wound imagine there expensive too, might have to wait for a year or two to be able to buy them.
£169 in steel per iron
@@MichaelNewtonGolf golf is going to price itself of existence very soon.
@@MichaelNewtonGolf considering i purchased my d7 forged 4-gw for £740 that is the reason i play wilson staff and always will. Quality irons that work from the most underrated clubs in golf today
@@paulsmith2855 theres clubs for everyone in all price ranges. Buy what you can afford.
Black is beautifull but sound is far more clicky then 700. What is your view in sound?
G710 Power Spec’d 3 iron would be interesting
Start at 4 iron unfortunately
Why didn't they blacken the screw? Would have finished it off better.
In the gun business, they have solutions for "blueing" or "blackening" guns. Maybe remove the screws and blacken them yourself. I'm in the process of choosing these or the Maverik Max for my new irons. (bag stolen 4 days ago) : (
Do they do a Custom 2 and 3 iron?
No, start at 4 iron
Like the look and great review mike but £169 per iron...... No wonder golf is on the slide
Way over priced when you consider i game wilson staff irons for one reason they make clubs that work and don't cost thr earth. Had the c300 forged in the bag last 2 year and looked at ping i500, cobra forged tec, taylormade p790 but prices killed them off for me. Glad I've waited until this year as I've now just bagged the Wilson staff d7 forged for this year. Amazing looking and performance and for the 4-gw they cost me £740 now that is £250 less than the big brand names. I'm loyal and always will be to wilson most underrated brand in golf that don't break the bank
@@darrenbell6376 wilson clubs are the best.
@@ABCDEFG-bk9gx your not wrong there ul to last 5 year I've always been a callaway and taylormade fan but when i tried the wilson irons they literally blew me away at a price whichn was a supreme bargain. I'll never play another iron brand other than wilsonstaff again and I've loved ping over the years but there prices have gone through the roof like all major brands ☹
No distance improvement from my Mizuno 850's
Hi Michael. Can I ask what sort of golfer should go for these instead of G410?
Generally someone with a slightly slower swing speed and who wants to launch the ball higher
Disappointing to see that the finish is cheap PVD unlike the cobra irons. Black finish will last a few months !
time will tell, but if the finish wears off like the black big bertha irons did, then that will be a negative..
So it has a black head ,, wow ,,, another gimmick from the golf club hustlers ,, I had a set of Lynx irons forty years ago that looked similar, they ( the Lynx irons were not black ). I bet my old Lynx irons would game every bit as good as these irons as well as the rest of the " advanced technology latest irons " the club manufacturers throw at us each new golf season.
What's arcost?
GPS measuring device, tracks your shots on the course and provides data like distance etc
Hi, what's the 4 iron loft?

What’s your review ?
FIRST!!
Lofts far too strong
I’ve just been for a fitting & I was striking a 7 iron on average 176 yards. I was hitting some over 180 😂.ive never hit a 7 iron that far in my life. I’m a low handicap golfer but don’t have an ego with golfing equipment. If they help you play better golf then get them. These are remarkably good. So forgiving & I could work it from a fade to a draw & hit it low & high. Great clubs.
Disagree. The 7 iron he was hitting had spins in the mid 5,500 range average, and descent angles that averaged about 47 degrees. Those are very solid stats for a 7 iron as far as holding greens, and that is what matters. If it can provide ball flights like that which hold greens and gives you some extra distance that’s a win win!
Very disappointed in ping they had the chance to realy knock one out of the park instead the bunt,
29.5 ° / 7 iron now sound dampening gel or foam to much offset .
Ping you dropped the ball ,
when will gold club manufacturers stop claiming a 29.5 ° club = 7 iron when anyone with a brain knows it's really a strong 6 iron .....
Not your fault Mike so I'm not blaming you ...
If anyone from Ping reads this stop the crap.....
Rodney Greenwell simple solution dont buy and play them, u dont like strong lofts then buy more traditional clubs. No one is making you play these or buy them, we all are entitled to an opinion but why comment and moan if its something you’d never play? Plenty of people will play these for the exact reason you dont like them, they need help you obviously dont go buy the blueprint.
there is more to it than just loft, the height of the ball flight is also a factor.. if it flies with the height of a standard loft 7 iron, then isn't that more the same than just matching lofts..
@@scottsteffen5342
You claim they fly the hight of a regular 7 iron well I'm betting if you reduce the swing speed to that of someone these clubs are ment for they won't come close .
@@darrenpayce6121
Your absolutely right they aren't for me I was fitted mid last season for jpx forged and absolutely love them but back to my comment that I made it stand by it because it annoys me because teaching pros like Mike review these clubs and make out like they are going to improve someone's game when in reality I bet only 5 percent of the people that purchase these type of clubs actually see a noticeable improvement over there current clubs and the reason I say this last year 6 of my golfing friends at work all bought Game Improvement clubs ( because they believed the hype )IE ( Marketing ) and low and behold none of them actually saw a measurable improvement and 2 of them ended up switching back to there old clubs that's why I comment and will continue to every time . Because in my view it's wrong....Plain and simple.
Rodney Greenwell sorry mate i think you are wrong by a long way why will they not help or improve anyone? The clubs will improve you if they are designed to you, you have to improve to make the most out of them but i’d still say they help anyone strong lofts dont mean crap to a high handicap they need help, i love a blade can play them cant hit them far for the life of me and im a high hitter why would i not play a lower lofted club if it gets me further lowers my trajectory a bit cause i can lower my ball flight though im not good😆 but give me the distance i think i should be able to though i cant cause im not a pro and crap basically. My point was mate why comment on something and try and make a point when you will not go anywhere near these clubs and from sounds of it are a good player cause you play MIZUNO’s? How would you know what these clubs can or cant do if you never play them. 😊
