I would honestly love to sell my 2006 Dodge cummins in for a new Tundra as i don't haul heavy anymore... But here in Canada interest rates ar 7-8% and the BASE tundra is about 59K plus tax and fees. Like heck i'll be making a $1000/M payment for 6 years. Im better off keeping my Diesel till the dino bones in the ground dry up.
A sr5 double cab TRD Offroad is 72k out the door with no accessories. This is just where the market is now. Even a mid trim Tacoma after tax will be costing around 60k 😂
At Toyota I was getting work done to my truck and I asked them why the new Tundra has no recovery hooks. He told me it has to do with safety ratings or something. Who knows. I am sure the engineers have some reason.

I went to my local Scottsdale dealership yesterday to order some parts for my ‘97 Land Cruiser and noted that the lot was packed with Tundras, 4Runners and salesmen just standing around. Inside there was a used 200 Heritage that they wanted $117k for 😂
I've owned multiple Tundra's over the years, and I don't care that they got rid of the V8 but I still think it doesn't look good and the price is just absurd. If it was a true Hybrid and got 30 mpg, then I could over look its faults to some degree.
So I just bought a 23 Tundra Limited Crewmax, 6.5 bed, really nice truck, moonroof, JBL sound, I still can't believe I put out $ 68K for this rig, my 2015 Silverado LT ( nicely equipped), cost me $ 48K------- And yes, no tow hooks is ridiculous

Spoke to the techs at my local Toyota dealership the other day while I was there and all the techs I spoke to said stay far far away from these new tundras... even walked into the branch managers office and he said do not buy one... pretty bad if everyone at the Toyota delaership says they are junk...
I love the New Tundra... but I agree, I like a bigger green house / bigger taller windows. Would also like more color in that monotone screen. Seems everything is black, blue and white in that display. They do need to figure out hybrid batter location. I would want some underseat storage in the back, especially being a pick-up.
There's a box which is plug and play via USB that allows the monitor to also serve as a monitor for streaming NETFLIX, UA-cam, ect. . It's great for tailgating live sports. ~ Proud owner of '23 Toyota Tundra 1794 🙋🏾
The lack of recovery hooks and the lack of bumper steps are kind of odd. Seems like easy fixes for an update. The front and rear bumpers just look very plastic to me. They nailed everything but the exterior design IMO.
Yeah, its ugly and the Tacoma looks good,. Don't know why they say it looks like a baby Tundra. My GTI has a recovery hook and it passes crash tests with flying colors.

Coming from a previous gen Tundra owner, I don't like several things about these new ones. Like others have stated, not very off-road friendly with suspension that low with poor clearance, no tow hooks, especially for the TRD Pro. I like the factory lift option but it's really expensive. The tailpipe exit is not good and the back bumper looks like it has no bumper.
I love my new 2024 Tundra 1794 non-Hybrid, coming from a V-8 F-150, but agree with Andre about the shorter front window, and plastic bumpers. There is no perfect truck.
I bought an 09 Tundra new, and thats what i drive today, i love the new Tundras but not sold on the longevity of the twin turbo 6 just yet. I have 260k miles and still runs like new.
Traded my 4runner trd offroad premium for a 2024 trd offroad tundra with the factory lift. My only gripe is the size of the tires at 265 70 18... Some of the interior plastic scratches easily, and the headliner if you press on it near the windshield it appears to be not very solid. I still wouldn't buy Ram or Ford or Chevy over Toyota.
My take from viewing one of these yesterday - the panoramic roof is really nice unless you are seated in the rear seat and are over 6'2".... Other than that, a really nice truck.
Highway travel in the '22 is a joy. Turning 1850 rpm at 80mph reminds me of that diesel torque without all the hassel! The oversquare 3.4 makes it possible. We'll see if it goes the distance of my first gen (264k and no issues.)
Yup, I bet the V8 with the 10 speed transmission and same rear end as the new one would get better fuel economy then the new one. Imagine the horsepower if they added the hybrid to it. I do have a 23 hybrid and love it, I wish the fuel economy was better. When towing I find it’s almost the same as the old one, driving around town I get about 30% better fuel economy. At least that’s something.
Toyota just totally missed the ball with this generation between this and the Sequoia. Absolutely absurd. 74,000. We went out and bought a 2021 1794 CrewMax with 40K miles. It is pristine. Growling V8. Ridiculous reliability that they are known for. Gorgeous and extremely comfortable leather. Some tech updates pending like an Alpine halo 11 and probably a custom dash kit so it all blends nice but consumers need to push back on this direction for the company. 74,000 for this truck is ridiculous. You can tell how underwhelmed you guys were every step of this way while trying to keep it professional not to piss off the Toyota suits. I hope the company can get back to their roots

It has a 4’ wider turning radius then the 2nd generation, Turbos will never go the distance of naturally aspirated engine, MPG’s suck and not much better then the 5.7. How long that battery going to last while it takes up valuable space? It’s much closer to $80k with Tax, delivery and it’s not an improvement over the 2nd generation…

They are attempting to price the full sizes out so you could see the Smaller trucks as a better alternative. Right now the largest growing class of truck is midsize Tacoma Colorado and Ranger and compact trucks like the maverick are selling out they don’t last a week at a dealers lot
The base price of the trd pro with nothing added is $74,000!!! After taxes (and whatever else the dealership decides to add on) you’re looking at close to $80k. That is not an $80k truck. Covid price gouging at its worst.
There isn’t one thing about the new truck I like. I will keep my 5.7. I get 19 miles per gallon on the highway all day. And my bed is not plastic. And my interior is much bigger. And my turning radius is tighter.

What is with the nose cone air gap between the front grill and the AC condenser/radiator? Like shorten the front end if you are not going to use that 18” of space.
No tow hooks and the painted sides on the front bumper is not going to hold up to any of the hunting roads I take my trucks on. I guess you'd pretty much be required to get an aftermarket bumper from the start.
You won't miss the V-8 unless you own it for more than a few years and when it's out of warranty. That simply isn't an issue with the V-8's. They don't break, and the wear and tear items are easy enough for a handy owner to replace. The used market for these hybrids will probably be ok for the first seller, but nobody is going to pay the same kind of money for a 6-8 year old hybrid Tundra as people pay for V8's. The battery pack has a lifespan as do the turbos and nobody wants to be saddled with THOSE replacement costs. None of this will matter to most folks with the money to buy a new one today, but it's gonna suck for the used marked down the road.
What V8's are you referring to? Everything on the market currently is electronically laden and pretty damn complex. Having a couple of turbos bolted on isnt really much different.
@@ALMX5DP The 5.7 and 4.6 of the previous gen were about as non-complex as you can get. In this case, I was specifically comparing them to the Hybrid twin turbo motors, whose added complexity is significantly greater than even the gas-only twin turbo motor.
@@jeffr6280 well sure but those are outdated mills. Everyone is developing newer and more complex offerings even if they are NA V8s. Nothing wrong with preferring the 4.6 or 5.7, but if that’s the case it’s still pretty easy to go out and buy a truck with either of those engines to make your own. New vehicles have to keep up, just the reality.
That sound augmentation is potentially bad news...one of the ways I keep track of my vehicle is "does it sound healthy". A fake healthy sound might hide a problem. until it's too late, unless a warning light comes on in time to save the day...
My 1st gen Double Cab has front recovery hooks, a windshield that you can actually see out of and hood you can see over, better all-around outside visibility which gives it a great experience when doing things outdoors, 4 grab handles up front(2 for each front passenger), a 6.5' full-size bed, a steel rear bumper and rear seat storage not only under the seats but behind it as well. Toyota is not even trying anymore.
Why does everyone always feel the need to compare the Tundra to the Raptor? Toyota is clearly not trying to build a Raptor killer. Thankfully. The Raptor really is a silly daily driver. Way to over the top and expensive.
Because at Toyota they know that the tow hooks are available aftermarket and in any case people really serious about off-road will rip off the front and rear bumpers for aftermarket steel bumpers and the tow hooks are built into the new bumpers. But yes it should be on any truck from factory.
@steven… Actually there is. Hidden low but the aftermarket guys have one that bolts to the frame. Kind of awkward to get to it but it’s possible. Ridiculous that it doesn’t come from factory with tow hooks. Manufacturers are famous about this kind of B$ and providing B$ explanations for it. Do we remember Toyota telling us for a decade or longer that we don’t need rear locker on their Tundras and Sequoias? Now finally it’s needed. 😃 How about Jeep refusing for decades to put a V8 into the Jeep because it’s supposedly didn’t fit. Surprise, at the exact moment that Ford revealed the very capable Jeep fighter Bronco, suddenly the Stellantis engineers figured out how to put V8 into a Jeep (which was done by aftermarket engine swap companies hundreds of times a year for ten years or longer). 😆 Or Ford telling us that the mustang doesn’t need Independent Rear Suspension because the solid axle is better. And then in 2016 suddenly it wasn’t any more. 😅 It’s pathetic. Now we are supposed to believe that it’s a safety requirement to not have tow hooks why every other manufacturer have it.

I prefer the Nissan Titan , It has the V8 that we need and is the most affordable among trucks and that is what we need to do the job and the Titan has a good reputation. I couldn't buy a tundra, not even one of the big three, they are very expensive. I bought a Nissan Titan platinum reserve. 2023 with sales and discounts for the price of a basic truck from other brands and the Titan is an option for the middle class who cannot buy a truck, just find the time and the dealer who wants to work with you thanks to John Lee Nissan Panama City, FL because it is a transparent dealer, no market adjustment, no BS on buying a warranty because this dealer has a lifetime warranty on your car. Why did Toyota, not finish the "O" in TRD PRO? Anyone else, notice that on the tailgate? It looks really funky. Overall very nice truck. I just wish they went with 35s and more ground clearance, better approach and departure angles.
I drove the exact trick at my local dealer recently. I agree the seats aren't great. I also noticed significant turbo lag which is weird as most modern turbo vehicles have mostly mitigated that.
The turbos in the new gen were designed spool up slower like a diesel truck rather than on a Ford eco boost which spools faster like a race engine almost.
Toyota Engineers/Top Executives- “We have five recorded Tundras with 5.7L installed and over a million miles recorded on original engine. Let’s steer away from what works and fold to the green agenda” Makes sense.
They could have stuck the old body on the new frame. New transmission and the 4.7 V8 with hybrid assist and some updated interior. After all ford hasn’t drastically changed the basic look of the F150 for a long time. This doesn’t look like a Toyota , it looks like a GMC with a bad front end. Keeping brand recognition is important. Marketing dropped the ball as badly as the designers.

Toyota according to one of the tundra designers toyed with the idea of going diesel. 5.7 is too much capacity and Toyota could have figured that ages ago and design a lower capacity higher efficiency V8 or even a straight 6.
@@joeblack1052 well to be fair, F-150 sells an order of magnitude more trucks than the Tundra so all the Ecoboosts likely offset the 5.0 in terms of CAFE and such.
@@ALMX5DP the Tacoma probably offsets the tundra No there are definitely different standards for the domestics They are allowed diesels. People say the Toyota diesels can’t pass emission standards but they are sold in Europe and Australia that have stricter standards than most of the US.
@@joeblack1052 other vehicles do help offset, but there is still the issue that Tundra simply doesnt sell near as well so to develop another powertrain is a much bigger relative investment and gamble in terms of profitability. And at least for pickups, I believe the EU classifies them differently being more inline with our HD trucks or commercial applications.
I'm a 2020 Ram 1500 owner and it's going back in AGAIN for stupid problems to be fixed. I'm very temped to trade it in for one of these. Maybe not the TRD Pro - I'll never go more off road than a field or a snowy parking lot - but I do tow a travel trailer, and load the bed up with lumber - and the 6.5' bed is SUPER attractive
1345 Lbs payload? 10,500 lbs tow rating? With 10% tongue weight that leaves approx 295 lbs for passengers and all other cargo. Does not seem very practical to me, am I missing something here?
@joe… ALL mid size and half tons are like that now. You have to go up to heavy duty trucks to get a decent payload. Even there some 2500 have pathetic payloads. 3500 and up are ok.

I test drove a trd pro 2024 and it drove ok a little weak on 0-60 and it's not comfortable, and i test drove 15 trucks from Toyota, ford, gmc, 1500 and 2500 trucks , ende up buying a AT4 fully loaded with suspension package v8 6.2 carbonpro , it was the best overall truck in my opinion has comfortable seats high quality interior, rides like a Cadillac

My best friend had his 2023 engine replaced, it was one of several in line getting replacement engines at the dealer. He immediately traded it for a 2024. First year engines are expensive junk.
That payload is abysmal. Roman, Andre, Tommy, and Nathan probably use all of it without a single thing in the bed. You can probably put more weight in a Rav4.
You are absolutely right. The higher the trim model (TRD pro, ZR2, Tremor) the lower the payload. Heated seats, cooled seats, other luxury features eat up capability.

Any issues drilling into a composite bed? I use the pitbull trailer restraint for my motorcycle instead of using straps so bolting the plate down would be a necessity.

Love my Tundra, super awesome. I get 20-21mpgs on Freeway travel in my hybrid. I love how FLT bangs on the plastic coating, but they are not the only brand of truck that does this (Ford, GMC/Chevy, RAM). As for the snow brush.. behind the seat works. I have plenty of items stored behind the seat on my truck. The seats when new were a bit firm, after 6 months, the seats were perfect and comfy. I love the way Toyota did the infotainment system, it's perfect. I have a device that allows movies to be played on the screen, which is perfect for my kids. People want the infotainment system to do more, but here is the problem. For heavy integration with controls built-in the infotainment system, when that system fails, you lose function (pointing to the cheesy Colorado and Canyon truck). I don't have visibility issues, plus the camera kicks on if you get close to something on the front.
I just bought a 23 Nissan titan pro4x and my V8 gets the same MPGs as your V6 hybrid plus I have storage under all of the rear seats because there is no battery living there.
@@scott8238 Not sure about getting the "same" mpg with your truck. You are rated 15 cities and 20 highways. Also, the Tundra is larger and heavier than your truck. Has more torque and HP, tows more, and has better amenities. Willing to give up a little space for previously mentioned advantage. A lot of my inter-city driving gives me 24 mpg.
@@JIPlatium Ill take a naturally aspirated V8 any day of a turbo hybrid for long term reliability even if that means I have less hp and torque. They are the same size trucks unless its the XD which is a much bigger/heavier truck than the tundra. TItan build quality/materials is better than the tundra imo since i test drove both. Real world mpg is different than what is listed. As far as towing the Nissan is very conservative with their towing numbers I have already been over on payload and didn't even notice. Pricing is where the Titan really shines but I wont get into that.
Dear Toyota - I would very much like a manual transmission in a Tundra. I know it isn't possible with the hybrid and most people aren't interested in three pedals but I would very much like the option. If you're REALLY listening - please make it available on a Platinum and down trim level :)
The windshield is definitely an issue for me and the lack of visibility in general. When I test drove the car I also didn’t like the positioning of the infotainment that should be integrated in the center console. Tesla can get away with that screen sticking out because of the different pitch is the windshield and the better visibility.
As a Lexus collector & current Toyota owner. If I were in the market for a truck. I would take a 2023 Nissan Titan Pro-4X over the Tundra. The Titan has a Rear locker & N/A V8.
I finally convinced my buddy to buy a 5.7L tundra a month ago. He went from the 2014 nissan pro-4x, Ford, ram, and a gladiator. He said regrets waiting so long. The tundra is by far is favorite. But…he didn’t own the current gen Titan to compare it though. I too love the current Titan XD pro-4x, but man the depreciate super fast. Not really matter bc I would keep it for years like my current 2008 5.7L with 217600 miles. The Titan dies next year sadly.
I recently purchased a new Lexus IS500 which has a Yamaha designed 5.0L V8 and 472hp. That paired to the hybrid system would be amazing in a Tundra, they may have missed a opportunity with that as it would've been a huge in the American market where we love our V8's.
I’ve found driving Toyotas with that v8 to be sluggish and less responsive than their vehicles with the 6. What we should be wishing Toyota would do is offer their 15z inline 6 diesel in their tundra.
Toyotas Quality has plummed on all of there new models and now with only turbo engines being made buyer beware-The car care nut just made a great video on these new toyota turbo engines that anyone purchaseing these vehicles should watch.

They are in the TRD Pro model which starts at $72K. You can get a similarly optioned Limited for about $60K or an SR5 for around $55K.
I bought my ‘21 Pro 2 years ago new & it was 17K less than this.
Make it better by bringing back the 5.7! A simple SR5 with low options and old tech reliable for $35,000

Here in the lower 48 an 06 Ram with a Cummins doesn't use DEF. If it is in good shape, I'd keep the 06 for a few more years.

I went to my local Scottsdale dealership yesterday to order some parts for my ‘97 Land Cruiser and noted that the lot was packed with Tundras, 4Runners and salesmen just standing around. Inside there was a used 200 Heritage that they wanted $117k for 😂

I've owned multiple Tundra's over the years, and I don't care that they got rid of the V8 but I still think it doesn't look good and the price is just absurd.
If it was a true Hybrid and got 30 mpg, then I could over look its faults to some degree.

So I just bought a 23 Tundra Limited Crewmax, 6.5 bed, really nice truck, moonroof, JBL sound, I still can't believe I put out $ 68K for this rig, my 2015 Silverado LT ( nicely equipped), cost me $ 48K------- And yes, no tow hooks is ridiculous

Spoke to the techs at my local Toyota dealership the other day while I was there and all the techs I spoke to said stay far far away from these new tundras... even walked into the branch managers office and he said do not buy one... pretty bad if everyone at the Toyota delaership says they are junk...
My main complaints before trading in my 22 TRD Pro:
1) turning radius is terrible
2) no backseat headroom due to battery and panoramic sunroof
Buy a GMC Sierra with the 6.2L ICE. REMEMBER to get the cylinder deactivation cancelled. Extended warranty would be a plus!

I love the New Tundra... but I agree, I like a bigger green house / bigger taller windows. Would also like more color in that monotone screen. Seems everything is black, blue and white in that display. They do need to figure out hybrid batter location. I would want some underseat storage in the back, especially being a pick-up.
There's a box which is plug and play via USB that allows the monitor to also serve as a monitor for streaming NETFLIX, UA-cam, ect. . It's great for tailgating live sports. ~ Proud owner of '23 Toyota Tundra 1794 🙋🏾
Under seat storage is key as someone in construction who tows a lot.

The lack of recovery hooks and the lack of bumper steps are kind of odd. Seems like easy fixes for an update. The front and rear bumpers just look very plastic to me. They nailed everything but the exterior design IMO.
Yeah, its ugly and the Tacoma looks good,. Don't know why they say it looks like a baby Tundra. My GTI has a recovery hook and it passes crash tests with flying colors.
If it’s something you REALLY need, there’s an aftermarket option for recovery hooks. But for 95% of us we don’t need them.

Coming from a previous gen Tundra owner, I don't like several things about these new ones. Like others have stated, not very off-road friendly with suspension that low with poor clearance, no tow hooks, especially for the TRD Pro. I like the factory lift option but it's really expensive. The tailpipe exit is not good and the back bumper looks like it has no bumper.
You think an aftermarket lift is cheap??........and no factory warranty.
I love my new 2024 Tundra 1794 non-Hybrid, coming from a V-8 F-150, but agree with Andre about the shorter front window, and plastic bumpers. There is no perfect truck.

I bought an 09 Tundra new, and thats what i drive today, i love the new Tundras but not sold on the longevity of the twin turbo 6 just yet. I have 260k miles and still runs like new.

Traded my 4runner trd offroad premium for a 2024 trd offroad tundra with the factory lift. My only gripe is the size of the tires at 265 70 18... Some of the interior plastic scratches easily, and the headliner if you press on it near the windshield it appears to be not very solid. I still wouldn't buy Ram or Ford or Chevy over Toyota.
Put the 5.7 v8 back if you want to make it better.

My take from viewing one of these yesterday - the panoramic roof is really nice unless you are seated in the rear seat and are over 6'2".... Other than that, a really nice truck.
Yeah, the back seat, I couldn't fit in the middle, some weird hump in the middle and low head room.
Highway travel in the '22 is a joy. Turning 1850 rpm at 80mph reminds me of that diesel torque without all the hassel! The oversquare 3.4 makes it possible. We'll see if it goes the distance of my first gen (264k and no issues.)
I just don’t know why they could not mate the V8 to the 10 speed transmission. That would have helped fuel mileage.

“Emissions”. Turbos burn more of the fuel, so less gets ejected in the exhaust. It’s the EPA cramming down on car makers.
Yup, I bet the V8 with the 10 speed transmission and same rear end as the new one would get better fuel economy then the new one. Imagine the horsepower if they added the hybrid to it. I do have a 23 hybrid and love it, I wish the fuel economy was better. When towing I find it’s almost the same as the old one, driving around town I get about 30% better fuel economy. At least that’s something.
Toyota just totally missed the ball with this generation between this and the Sequoia. Absolutely absurd. 74,000. We went out and bought a 2021 1794 CrewMax with 40K miles. It is pristine. Growling V8. Ridiculous reliability that they are known for. Gorgeous and extremely comfortable leather. Some tech updates pending like an Alpine halo 11 and probably a custom dash kit so it all blends nice but consumers need to push back on this direction for the company. 74,000 for this truck is ridiculous. You can tell how underwhelmed you guys were every step of this way while trying to keep it professional not to piss off the Toyota suits. I hope the company can get back to their roots

They are attempting to price the full sizes out so you could see the Smaller trucks as a better alternative. Right now the largest growing class of truck is midsize Tacoma Colorado and Ranger and compact trucks like the maverick are selling out they don’t last a week at a dealers lot
and Frontier which is actually a midsize in comparison to the others.

There isn’t one thing about the new truck I like. I will keep my 5.7. I get 19 miles per gallon on the highway all day. And my bed is not plastic. And my interior is much bigger. And my turning radius is tighter.

No tow hooks and the painted sides on the front bumper is not going to hold up to any of the hunting roads I take my trucks on. I guess you'd pretty much be required to get an aftermarket bumper from the start.

You won't miss the V-8 unless you own it for more than a few years and when it's out of warranty. That simply isn't an issue with the V-8's. They don't break, and the wear and tear items are easy enough for a handy owner to replace. The used market for these hybrids will probably be ok for the first seller, but nobody is going to pay the same kind of money for a 6-8 year old hybrid Tundra as people pay for V8's. The battery pack has a lifespan as do the turbos and nobody wants to be saddled with THOSE replacement costs. None of this will matter to most folks with the money to buy a new one today, but it's gonna suck for the used marked down the road.
What V8's are you referring to? Everything on the market currently is electronically laden and pretty damn complex. Having a couple of turbos bolted on isnt really much different.
@@ALMX5DP The 5.7 and 4.6 of the previous gen were about as non-complex as you can get. In this case, I was specifically comparing them to the Hybrid twin turbo motors, whose added complexity is significantly greater than even the gas-only twin turbo motor.
@@jeffr6280 well sure but those are outdated mills. Everyone is developing newer and more complex offerings even if they are NA V8s. Nothing wrong with preferring the 4.6 or 5.7, but if that’s the case it’s still pretty easy to go out and buy a truck with either of those engines to make your own. New vehicles have to keep up, just the reality.
That sound augmentation is potentially bad news...one of the ways I keep track of my vehicle is "does it sound healthy". A fake healthy sound might hide a problem. until it's too late, unless a warning light comes on in time to save the day...

My 1st gen Double Cab has front recovery hooks, a windshield that you can actually see out of and hood you can see over, better all-around outside visibility which gives it a great experience when doing things outdoors, 4 grab handles up front(2 for each front passenger), a 6.5' full-size bed, a steel rear bumper and rear seat storage not only under the seats but behind it as well. Toyota is not even trying anymore.

Because at Toyota they know that the tow hooks are available aftermarket and in any case people really serious about off-road will rip off the front and rear bumpers for aftermarket steel bumpers and the tow hooks are built into the new bumpers. But yes it should be on any truck from factory.

@steven… Actually there is. Hidden low but the aftermarket guys have one that bolts to the frame. Kind of awkward to get to it but it’s possible. Ridiculous that it doesn’t come from factory with tow hooks. Manufacturers are famous about this kind of B$ and providing B$ explanations for it. Do we remember Toyota telling us for a decade or longer that we don’t need rear locker on their Tundras and Sequoias? Now finally it’s needed. 😃 How about Jeep refusing for decades to put a V8 into the Jeep because it’s supposedly didn’t fit. Surprise, at the exact moment that Ford revealed the very capable Jeep fighter Bronco, suddenly the Stellantis engineers figured out how to put V8 into a Jeep (which was done by aftermarket engine swap companies hundreds of times a year for ten years or longer). 😆 Or Ford telling us that the mustang doesn’t need Independent Rear Suspension because the solid axle is better. And then in 2016 suddenly it wasn’t any more. 😅 It’s pathetic. Now we are supposed to believe that it’s a safety requirement to not have tow hooks why every other manufacturer have it.

I prefer the Nissan Titan , It has the V8 that we need and is the most affordable among trucks and that is what we need to do the job and the Titan has a good reputation. I couldn't buy a tundra, not even one of the big three, they are very expensive. I bought a Nissan Titan platinum reserve. 2023 with sales and discounts for the price of a basic truck from other brands and the Titan is an option for the middle class who cannot buy a truck, just find the time and the dealer who wants to work with you thanks to John Lee Nissan Panama City, FL because it is a transparent dealer, no market adjustment, no BS on buying a warranty because this dealer has a lifetime warranty on your car. I drove the exact trick at my local dealer recently. I agree the seats aren't great. I also noticed significant turbo lag which is weird as most modern turbo vehicles have mostly mitigated that.
I have a 23 TRD Pro, I have no turbo lag at all as the hybrid engine covers the turbo lag areas.

The turbos in the new gen were designed spool up slower like a diesel truck rather than on a Ford eco boost which spools faster like a race engine almost.
That button for the tail gate is garbage compared to the F 150 250 350 tail gate.

5.7 is too much capacity and Toyota could have figured that ages ago and design a lower capacity higher efficiency V8 or even a straight 6.

They are allowed diesels.
People say the Toyota diesels can’t pass emission standards but they are sold in Europe and Australia that have stricter standards than most of the US.
@@joeblack1052 other vehicles do help offset, but there is still the issue that Tundra simply doesnt sell near as well so to develop another powertrain is a much bigger relative investment and gamble in terms of profitability. And at least for pickups, I believe the EU classifies them differently being more inline with our HD trucks or commercial applications.

I'm a 2020 Ram 1500 owner and it's going back in AGAIN for stupid problems to be fixed. I'm very temped to trade it in for one of these. Maybe not the TRD Pro - I'll never go more off road than a field or a snowy parking lot - but I do tow a travel trailer, and load the bed up with lumber - and the 6.5' bed is SUPER attractive

@joe… ALL mid size and half tons are like that now. You have to go up to heavy duty trucks to get a decent payload. Even there some 2500 have pathetic payloads. 3500 and up are ok.

I test drove a trd pro 2024 and it drove ok a little weak on 0-60 and it's not comfortable, and i test drove 15 trucks from Toyota, ford, gmc, 1500 and 2500 trucks , ende up buying a AT4 fully loaded with suspension package v8 6.2 carbonpro , it was the best overall truck in my opinion has comfortable seats high quality interior, rides like a Cadillac
When you’re trying to talk about the roof in the height of the windshield and stuff, it compares more to like a chop top like when they used to chop the top on old hot rods and stuff
My best friend had his 2023 engine replaced, it was one of several in line getting replacement engines at the dealer. He immediately traded it for a 2024. First year engines are expensive junk.

Those track-mounted cleats aren’t strong enough for a tie down point on a motorcycle. When you go to cranking down on them, they really flex.
That payload is abysmal. Roman, Andre, Tommy, and Nathan probably use all of it without a single thing in the bed. You can probably put more weight in a Rav4.
You are absolutely right. The higher the trim model (TRD pro, ZR2, Tremor) the lower the payload. Heated seats, cooled seats, other luxury features eat up capability.

Any issues drilling into a composite bed? I use the pitbull trailer restraint for my motorcycle instead of using straps so bolting the plate down would be a necessity.

Love my Tundra, super awesome. I get 20-21mpgs on Freeway travel in my hybrid. I love how FLT bangs on the plastic coating, but they are not the only brand of truck that does this (Ford, GMC/Chevy, RAM). As for the snow brush.. behind the seat works. I have plenty of items stored behind the seat on my truck. The seats when new were a bit firm, after 6 months, the seats were perfect and comfy. I love the way Toyota did the infotainment system, it's perfect. I have a device that allows movies to be played on the screen, which is perfect for my kids. People want the infotainment system to do more, but here is the problem. For heavy integration with controls built-in the infotainment system, when that system fails, you lose function (pointing to the cheesy Colorado and Canyon truck). I don't have visibility issues, plus the camera kicks on if you get close to something on the front.

I just bought a 23 Nissan titan pro4x and my V8 gets the same MPGs as your V6 hybrid plus I have storage under all of the rear seats because there is no battery living there.
@@scott8238 Not sure about getting the "same" mpg with your truck. You are rated 15 cities and 20 highways. Also, the Tundra is larger and heavier than your truck. Has more torque and HP, tows more, and has better amenities. Willing to give up a little space for previously mentioned advantage. A lot of my inter-city driving gives me 24 mpg.

They are the same size trucks unless its the XD which is a much bigger/heavier truck than the tundra. TItan build quality/materials is better than the tundra imo since i test drove both. Real world mpg is different than what is listed. As far as towing the Nissan is very conservative with their towing numbers I have already been over on payload and didn't even notice. Pricing is where the Titan really shines but I wont get into that.

Dear Toyota - I would very much like a manual transmission in a Tundra. I know it isn't possible with the hybrid and most people aren't interested in three pedals but I would very much like the option. If you're REALLY listening - please make it available on a Platinum and down trim level :)
So what parts need to be removed when the turbos go out and need replacements???? Do you have to remove the body from the frame????
The windshield is definitely an issue for me and the lack of visibility in general. When I test drove the car I also didn’t like the positioning of the infotainment that should be integrated in the center console. Tesla can get away with that screen sticking out because of the different pitch is the windshield and the better visibility.

As a Lexus collector & current Toyota owner. If I were in the market for a truck. I would take a 2023 Nissan Titan Pro-4X over the Tundra. The Titan has a Rear locker & N/A V8.
I finally convinced my buddy to buy a 5.7L tundra a month ago.
He went from the 2014 nissan pro-4x, Ford, ram, and a gladiator.
He said regrets waiting so long. The tundra is by far is favorite.
But…he didn’t own the current gen Titan to compare it though.
I too love the current Titan XD pro-4x, but man the depreciate super fast. Not really matter bc I would keep it for years like my current 2008 5.7L with 217600 miles.
The Titan dies next year sadly.
I recently purchased a new Lexus IS500 which has a Yamaha designed 5.0L V8 and 472hp. That paired to the hybrid system would be amazing in a Tundra, they may have missed a opportunity with that as it would've been a huge in the American market where we love our V8's.
I’ve found driving Toyotas with that v8 to be sluggish and less responsive than their vehicles with the 6.
What we should be wishing Toyota would do is offer their 15z inline 6 diesel in their tundra.
