I used to live in Australia, and my sister still does. I find it strange that the federal government did not bother to intervene sooner to avert panic buying. In Kenya there have been no shortages of toilet paper. The government immediately issued a directive to retailers to not increase the prices and to limit the quantities per household. I think they also have a culture here that is less selfish. The borders were closed well before pandemonium set in, but cargo planes which facilitate the delivery of imports such as the materials used for cleaning products and toilet paper were never halted. Strict regulations and quarantine measures were put in place so that industry could continue to supply the country and people cold actually access the products they need to combat the spread of COVID. I think individualistic countries with such a “me, me, me” culture that doesn’t consider that we ALL need to be able to sanitize in order for ALL of us to be safe could learn a thing or two from more collectivist cultures. Countries in Asia did the same and they were much faster to flatten their curves. Why someone would hoard 40 bottles of soap and sanitizer leaving the other 20 people they have to come in contact with in order to do their hoarding and expose themselves to risk by preventing those same people from being able to sanitize, makes no sense to me! It’s very selfish.
Amen sir! The coronavirus response from people and government is an extreme proof of social responsibility. Unfortunately some people and countries do not have the mentality of if we all help each other we will make it through better and faster. At the cost of people's lives
MsUn PC I am not going to respond to a) blaming anyone and b) conspiracy theories. Once the virus had spread, regardless of where it originated and what was NOT done, my comment was merely an observation based on the intro to Ann’s video of empty store shelves between Australia (where she lives) and East Africa (where I currently live.) Thanks for your comment, though. Stay safe.
MsUn PC Oh, as a second mention, you actually proved my point. Why is it necessary - in whichever country you are in - for police to have to threaten use of force or teargas? That is what I am implying. Selfishness! The police officers who need to work to help save the lives by mitigating uncontrollable spread are branded the enemy (Martial Law? Hardly) instead of people NATURALLY considering their elderly communities, those most vulnerable, their neighbours and THEMSELVES and simply staying home! Do none of the people adamant on crowding beaches over Spring Break like it’s nothing, continuing to trek the globe for unnecessary travel, insist on attending and hosting Church services etc not have a single relative in the healthcare, cleaning services or police force? Would they feel proud to blame everyone else for their selfish behaviour and then complain when their loved ones have to help others and expose themselves? I can’t imagine needing such force to coerce me into caring enough about myself, my family (especially essential workers, healthcare workers and police officers i.e. none of which are enemies or militants) and others in the first place! That is cultural. That was my only point.
Adidas Love I can help you with that question of what’s going on in America. People are idiots, the media is covering this extensively, and there’s varying or contradictory reports so there’s a lot of distrust, especially since they contributed to the economy breakdown with their reporting and fearmongering. We also have a country where conspiracy theories run wild (as you saw in that first reply), and the conspiracy theories give truthers a personal form of control over the situation, believing they’re privy to privileged information over the ‘sheeple’. They do what they think is right according to their Truth. Others are crying about the government interfering with their rights and ability to go where they want and do what they want during this crisis, and yet others think this pandemic is simply just another version of the flu and we’re making way too much of a fuss. Trump downplayed this for weeks, though to be fair loads of others did as well. It’s just #orangemanbad taking over there. The government also doesn’t like pissing off their voters. There’s simply a lack of common sense in this country and a huge sense of entitlement borne of the Bill of Rights. The news and recommendations keep changing and others have just thrown up their hands and said fuck it, I don’t care, I’ll social distance but I’m not staying inside. Hope that helped. I’m sad I can’t trust my fellow countrymen to be sensible. Many states do have price-gouging laws, but I’m not sure it’s federal. It’s typically the states that suffer the most major natural disasters like hurricanes, tornadoes and huge snowstorms. We also don’t have a system that’s taking care of the unemployed the way other countries are, and many other countries are imposing fines if they catch people breaking lockdown orders. Oh, and we have idiots saying this virus is a judgement from god, and god will save them. So you have the religious who are zealous and think they’re immune. Apparently our lockdown order in my state is allowing religious services to continue. I wish people would take this far more seriously, because it wouldn’t have spread out of control here, but... 🤷🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️
Hi Anne! I'm a seventeen year old in Canada, and since school is closed, I have been able to cook so many of you videos! Love it so much. Thanks for all you do.
I'm gonna try to do this dessert (the first one probably) for my school's mini competition! If we want we can bake something over the Easter half term and submit a photo! Stay safe everyone!
aisles in austrian shops were a bit emptier than usual for around a week before the lockdown, maybe two weeks in total. now we're pretty much back to normal - as will you guys. don't worry too much about it.
This was a pleasant video after a day at work. Being in a grocery store right now certainly pays well, but it is a bit stressful. Videos like this keep me going, thank you for still making content despite these troubling times, and to everyone out there who’s working like I am, your work isn’t going unnoticed. You are appreciated, involved, and important. Society may be falling apart, but through the Internet we have each other.
Best baking art, ever. You’re such an inspiration. I want to become a pastry chef and/or baker. I’m doing my bachelors in Nutrition. Do you have any courses to recommend?
If you're also into the science part of cooking and baking there are two courses on edX.org from Harvard that you can audit for free. They're called 'Science & Cooking: from haute cuisine to soft matter'. Harvard also has a UA-cam channel with a specific 'Science and Cooking' playlist with a bunch of additional material/lectures. Even though it's not for credit or anything, I figured there might be something you'd enjoy. ^_^
Thank-you Ann for making my day. I should be leaving to go on holiday right now so this is exactly what I needed to cheer me up. Stay safe and keep baking!

Back when this video first came out, it brought me so much comfort in such a high stress time. Thank you, Ann, for always being a kind, entertaining, and genuinely awesome person and creator!
So fun and magical to watch - you are a Sugar Witch, Ann! Here in Queens, NYC, my husband and I celebrated (?) three weeks of lockdown yesterday. We are really lucky to be working from home, and our local grocery stores are mostly open and mostly well-stocked, which gives us a reasonable amount of normalcy, though we try not to go out more than once or twice a week. The sound of ambulances is much more prevalent, especially with the quiet NYC streets. We are doing fine, staying healthy if a little freaked out.
I'm in NY, I've been in quarantine for almost 3 weeks and likely won't go back to work for at least another month, so I've been doing a lot of stress baking and this channel is an absolute gift, thank you for it
I like that not only the topic is more relaxing, with simple ingredients and methods, your voice also sounds more soothing, probably because of the music, so even if you don't plan to actually make these is a very very relaxing video to watch. Thank you and stay safe
Ann, your videos always put me in a good mood to start creating. Even though I'm not much of a baker, I love the soothing, casual, and educational tone your videos set. The never fail to put me in a good mood and put a smile on my face.

Every time someone gets sponsored by Honey I get really excited I've used it for years now and it's saved me a ton of money! It's just a really great little widget to have and it works quite often. Would 100% recommend using it if you don't have it yet!
I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. I truly really enjoy watching your channel. Thank you for your debunking videos. It's really cool to learn about food directly from a food scientist herself! Just that fact keeps me coming back time after time. Today, I just found out I've been laid off after being on paid leave. I worked at a corporate retail headquarters solving various customer problems. I considered myself a professional problem solver. I did go to school to study aviation maintenance, and I have applied that process to my work. In any case, I'm fortunate to have amassed a small savings. Before this pandemic took hold, I was making plans to finally move into my own room after having to share a room for many years. I just moved into my new apartment and have dedicated my time to improving myself. I've spring-cleaned to end all spring-cleaning that I've ever done, and I'm eating healthier and sleeping better. I've been meal planning from a Betty Crocker cookbook I've had since 1991, crocheting, and staying connected to my friends and family. I hope you and your family are doing well, and please keep up the good work!

@MsUn PC You are completely right.
I'm becoming addicted to her voice, so royal and sweet 🥰
The shopping aisles look like mine... and everyones...
our shopping aisles are still stocked but i hope you all are doing okay
not ours
aisles in austrian shops were a bit emptier than usual for around a week before the lockdown, maybe two weeks in total. now we're pretty much back to normal - as will you guys. don't worry too much about it.
My local grocer don't.... it well stocked up.
Depends on the country.
I hope everyone is safe and well!
Since New Zealand is in lockdown I have been baking so much!
Happy Friday!
Wow, as usual BLOWN AWAY at how perfect these are. Love this lady.
Excellent tutorial. Thank-you!
Thank-you Ann for making my day. I should be leaving to go on holiday right now so this is exactly what I needed to cheer me up. Stay safe and keep baking!
My sisters holidays got cancelled too, so much disappointment. Think of it as more time to plan the ultimate holiday for next year.
Watching your videos reminds me how much i love desserts and how much appreciation/admiration I have for food industry workers, not just patissier's. Food is the best part of life, hope you are doing well !!!!!
The one dislike is from content farms
Nicole Bennett or health conscious people 🙊
@@k8lynmae yeah, my blood sugar be rising just looking at this.
@@k8lynmae You make it sound like health conscious people can't treat themselves every once in a while, especially to take the edge off during this pandemic.
Nicole Bennett the dislikes come from people who know how evil Honey is (the sleazy marketing company, not the sugary product of bees)
@@jpe1 I was SO confused at first. I'm like what reason could this guy possibly have to hate Honey that badly? It's wonder! And then then I got to the parenthesis lol. Now I have a question, what is the Honey you're talking about?
Your voice, hands, and cooking are so very calming in and of themselves. I love you.
Wow! You’re an artist! 😍
Hi
👍Hi Friends, @3:25 for those didn’t know like I didn’t know....she said, Isomalt. It is a sugar substitute created from real sugar that has been made from beets. It is an ingredient that is not familiar to most people unless they are cake decorators or in food manufacturing. - from the Internet 💝
I'm focusing on my writing now that school's closed. It's a good pass time. I'm producing quite good pieces so far. Thanks for your video, it's quite calming
Loved noticing the title was worded very specifically (to both prove a point and spread REAL information), and that it worked perfectly.
I wish I was this talented to do this in quarantine
Stay safe❤❤
Hi Ann I just wanted to thank u. Ever since the beginning of march I have been having trouble sleeping but recently I’ve started watching one of your videos before bed and your voice is just so soothing and nice and watching the videos is like watching a 100 most satisfying video. its been helping me fall asleep and like 5 hours earlier than I usually do so thank you so much.
Omg I'm awake when she posted! Eceryone stay safe out there.
Hi Sophilla, sleep well 😀
Your video have been helping me stay calm so much. Thank you for posting and being so positive all the time!

Thank you so much for this 💜 we're in lockdown here, and it's hard, but people like you make it so much easier 💜 stay safe!
Ok , everything looked amazing 👏
The cellophane decorations actually looks cool. I’m going to try doing that one week
How on earth have I only just found your channel? Love your content and been binge watching for almost 4 hours as I am bedridden atm. Can’t wait to get back into my kitchen
I bet if you made a shop where you sell cakes you would make a lot! I know having to do more desserts might cause stress but I think it would be good content! Also I love your channel! 💕 💗
I like this idea
Distress or stress? Because now I want dessert so badly! 😟 Especially yours. Everything looks delicious!!!! My mouth is watering.
Thanks so much for this. Exactly what I was looking for, caramel recipe for caramel decorations!
Back when this video first came out, it brought me so much comfort in such a high stress time. Thank you, Ann, for always being a kind, entertaining, and genuinely awesome person and creator!
never ever been this early, love your videos thank you Ann
I haven't been this early either
You are a true treasure of the internet
What a beautiful lady 😊 love the way she explains it all, sounds like even I can make it
Am thankful for the tips , definitely subbed
Blessings!
Listening to Ann’s voice as she bakes is low key getting me through the day
They look amazing, but do you have anything that takes only 30 seconds, ignores chemistry and might also kill me? 😉
Sure, as long as you got a hot glue gun
Just head down over to the fantastical fairyland of so yummy.
These are really cool. Congrats on 4 Million subscribers!!🍾🎉
I was just watching the Jimmy Choo shoe cake tutorial!♡♡♡
So fun and magical to watch - you are a Sugar Witch, Ann!
Here in Queens, NYC, my husband and I celebrated (?) three weeks of lockdown yesterday. We are really lucky to be working from home, and our local grocery stores are mostly open and mostly well-stocked, which gives us a reasonable amount of normalcy, though we try not to go out more than once or twice a week. The sound of ambulances is much more prevalent, especially with the quiet NYC streets. We are doing fine, staying healthy if a little freaked out.
They look gorgeous 🥰stay safe 😔and stay home
I'm in NY, I've been in quarantine for almost 3 weeks and likely won't go back to work for at least another month, so I've been doing a lot of stress baking and this channel is an absolute gift, thank you for it
Stay safe in this chaos. Pray. Help others. Stay home.
The caramel cellophane looks delicious
Thank you for the entertaining content you make it's how I always start my friday mornings. Hope you and your family are healthy and safe. ❤
I like that not only the topic is more relaxing, with simple ingredients and methods, your voice also sounds more soothing, probably because of the music, so even if you don't plan to actually make these is a very very relaxing video to watch. Thank you and stay safe
You'll never believe what I saw today! A whole isle of TP! random comment🙃
PS , I haven't been able to find some for three weeks, hence the excitement
Holly Montgomery That’s actually pretty impressive. Still out of toilet paper in my area.
Me too - it's back. Restrictions on buying must have finally let them catch up. 😀
We get we come for, totally satisfied 😊thanks that was awesome.
Love how your cooking food and having fun doing it, while i tried to make a bottle rocket that used hand sanitizer as a fuel source
Watching this was like meditation, thank you so much for this
This is so calming, especially because I can’t really bake which I usually use to de-stress because there’s almost no ingredients
Ann’s voice is SO calming. I have fallen asleep to her before.
De-stressed and re-fatted 😁
Ann, your videos always put me in a good mood to start creating. Even though I'm not much of a baker, I love the soothing, casual, and educational tone your videos set. The never fail to put me in a good mood and put a smile on my face.
I’m watching this while doing my school work done nearly all my lessons for today just need to do ict . My friends are still in bed so I’m doing my work by myself😥😥😥

How To Cook That it’s going great😀😁😁 I can’t believe you replied😁😁😄💖💖💖
Lizey pizey it’s 10:06 in the morning bc I live in the uk😂
Every time someone gets sponsored by Honey I get really excited
I've used it for years now and it's saved me a ton of money! It's just a really great little widget to have and it works quite often. Would 100% recommend using it if you don't have it yet!
I legit hesitated to click on this because I didn’t think it was Ann lmfao
The bags of chocolate sauce and the 'plastic' coatings on the desserts are SO COOL 😃 Thanks for sharing!
After Ann talked about the clickbait title formula in her recent video I can't help but notice that she uses it all the time. Except without lying.
I’m 5 minutes late!! I haven’t been this early since 5 minute crafts we’re making true, safe videos!
Edit: Oh, and stay safe from coronavirus!
So you've never been early then?
Just a gay mhm
I could listen to you talk all day! Really enjoy your videos.
The comments here say they're from 20 hours ago, it's only been a few seconds.
😕😵
y
It’s probably from patrons or something
Omg😂😂😂
Same here :/
Bless you Ann. Can always count on your videos to make me feel better.
Use a suggar dome and put it on top of a brain cake. And then you have a really cool Halloween decoration.
Love your deserts 👏👏👏
