I had an xsr900 for a few years and I loved it. But I liked the old styling. Felt more retro compared to the newer style.
Old xsr was 70s retro new xsr is 80s retro

I own all my own tools and do all my own maintenance and I have since I was a child. My dad taught me how to work on vehicles and motorcycles. That's why I'll always prefer built over bought

I’m in love with mine! It’s an amazing bike. So much that the flaws seem to fade once it breaks in. I may even get the scrambler version if it ever goes into production 🦾🦾🦾
I dunno man the cbr sounds like every other straight piped 1000cc i4 bike you can see in the US (videos), pretty hard to distinguish which loud ass bike is who's.
Not sure where you heard that all the tech features can be retrofitted. Maaaaybe with a custom ECU you could retrofit traction control and modes, but that's not going to be an option for most bikes, especially models that predate ride-by-wire. AFAIK, there is no way to retrofit ABS or any of the IMU-dependent aides to just any bike. Certainly not cost-effectively. The only thing you can legitimately add to almost any bike is a quickshifter.
There are companies that do add-on ABS, traction control, etc, for specific bikes.
Chase, been a sub for years. Love your reviews. I wanted an Yamaha 900 3 banger for the last few years, however I ended up moving in another direction. I now have a 2021 F-3S Spyder! Love it, pretty fast, won’t pop wheelies but I have done and rode plenty of wheelies in my life!😉 really like my Spyder, Traction control, stability control, cruse control! This thing has all the goodie’s!

OC: My dream bike build is ironically a bought scenario. As my dream bike is for track use. It's the new Ducati Panigale V4 R. As for any modifications that will have to wait till I ride it and see what there is on the market as far as upgrades. As I already have my perfect commuter in my MT09 SP.

I did both bought my 2017 XSR and started custom mods using FZ-09/MT-09 and XSR specific mods. Results Retro Touring XSR with option for hard cases when need.
Hey guys get rid of that crappy looking plate holder and goofy looking long bar holding it and make a nice fender that attaches to swing arm that stays tight to tire. Then put plate under seat area. Much cleaner and with paint will look sweet.

OC-buy a V-strom 650 then look at upgraded suspension and other goods from V-strom 1000 (if feasible).

Both i just put a deposit on an xsr900 and i am building a 1978 Xs750 Yamaha Cafe so I will have matching triples.
Currently on a cbr600rr, have been torn whether or not to pick the fz09 or move up to a cbr1000. This is the video I needed

I mean your bike is your bIke, I’ll never question that. Some of my bikes have been bought, some have been built. And some were rebuilt although originally bought. Some bikes the more I modded it the more I wished it was stock, and some had such terrible equipment stock I had no choice but to tear it down and rebuild it (Harleys… lol)

Xsr900 has a lovely tq curve…. The cbf would suck as a street bike. Peaky with tq only at high rpm.
