Oh my god.. I have waited so long for this machine.. It's finally released in the UK! It's been two years and I'm trying to find a way to get it! The problem is that Breville dual boiler in the U.S is 120volts and I need 220-240, and it is available in Australia.. But Australia is too far away and no retailers do international shipments.. I found even Gastroback the name of the brand in Germany and this year I found out "Sage" is also a name of Breville and now the website is clear showing all different names in the world.. I have been searching for this machine a lot and finally when I searched Sage Dual Boiler i got a result.. I have Breville Pro 800 collection and it is fine but not as good as advanced as this one. I really just wish it is called "Breville" because all my kitchen got this "Breville" brand and even if the look is the same the brand name looks diff and I prefer that name.. anyways not important. How much does this machine weighs in the box? I plan to take it abroad and the info in the website doesn't show the weight.
MacAliPro I can purchase one if you'd like. Im getting one this weekend, and might be able to negotiate a deal if you would like one too! Let me know mate
For the grinder portafilter holder.Larger group heads are 61, but I'm sure the one in this machine is as stated , 58mm. How has this Espresso machine held up? I have heard plenty negative reviews on the grinder, but the espresso machine has been mostly good, except for some forced sending in for service issues that have been reported.
Hi Phil, the machine is great and this video has mainly pointed out the best key features ua-cam.com/video/sxoJjdLvspE/v-deo.html could you possibly point me in the direction of the negative reviews? Many thanks.
i think e61 is not 61mm but 1961 is the year of the original design. I have a smart grinder, i dont recommend it unless you are going from french press to espresso and back every day and even then, it is weak design - it cannot hold its setting, its cheaply built, hard to clean. My gears have stripped on it so it is going for recycling altho the burrs and display are still good after 3 years of light use. If you are doing espresso only, go for an espresso grinder - i replaced my smart grinder with an ascaso 250w i1 54 mm flat burr. Pretty sure the machine will last forever, it weighs over 10 pounds and already after 1 or 2 shots i am getting results i never got with my smart grinder even new. If i could afford i would get a vario or the new barata sette which is a bit cheaper and co go from coarse to fine easily. In your video you grind first with espresso setting at - 6 notches, then I see it later at -3 or -4, then when you focus in to pull your shot, you are right to the end, this is sort of the problem with these grinders. at the end of the range, you are able to tamp down hard and get a shot, whereas at the end of the range you should be able to choke any machine with the talcum powder grind that should be coming out at the last notch? So apparently the grinder is way off? I am also at the point of changing from a 840xl (1st gen - never really got fantastic results with it) to a 920xl, but am also considering an e61 hx machine with electrically heated group like the bezerra bz10. I like the 920, but again i am afraid. It will not have the longevity of an all metal machine with copper piping instead of silicone. Breville has some neat features but uses cheaper parts and cheap labor to assemble, when you are investing 1300$ in a machine why not spend 300 hundred more to get a built in italy all metal machine. I have a love-hate relationship with breville and i do fear that i will have problems or need parts that cant be found or replaced.
I use a Nuovo Simonelli mfc grinder with short hopper. It's rock solid, but takes getting used to to jump from different settings, as it's manual and stepless
Im currently deciding what new machine to get and I am leaning towards the Ascaso Dream PID. THen I discovered this. Seems to have both PID and manometer as well? Anyone know how it compares? Is Sage still using the small 54mm portafilter?
Sage Appliances Thanks for the reply. So is Sage re branded as Breville in the New Zealand market? Just to confirm that these are the same machines in your demonstration video? www.breville.co.nz/thedualboiler-3903.html Thanks
I have had a dual boiler for 8 years lnfact I am on my second machine . Hands down there is no domestic coffee machine including Italian that makes a better coffee .
I have heard of a number of issues, but I also have heard of great reviews, but maybe on the short run? I think a great alternative would be the Gloria, and the Vivaldi2. They will last a lifetime with self cleaning and service, vs this has to be shipped for service. But overall concept, I think tBreville did an OUTSTANDING job in bringing full control to a industry that was so sluggish, and mostly very expensive, and guarded by the commercial market, and opened up espresso enjoyment at home for the home user. For that they are revolutionary. Also, I think Breville can make this for a pretty low cost. They marked it up a bit more for the competition and accessibility. Perhaps the next successor will be a true long term appliance.
Please keep making this dual boiler forever I will always own one. Best machine for the money hands down. Never change it
This is fantastic, as soon as I get my hands on some disposable income I am all over this range.
This is my next machine however I'm loving my Barista Express at the moment. Love Sage products!
@brighton rock so pleased your enjoying it 😀

I don't know....I really like the robustness of the Oscar so far. But, a PID control is key for perfection seekers...so..we shall see.

I would love to see the Dual Boiler in red color without grinder but with automatic steaming wand.
