This one doesn't get anywhere near as much love as it should. It's such a fun movie, and it feels relevant to both kids and adults.
I showed this to my kids the other day. I watched this all the time I was a kid. Had me tearing up towards the end. My boy's loved it.

Tevin Campbell is the singer who plays "Powerline" He's appeared in the original Fresh Prince of Bell Air for Ashley's birthday.
Watched it so many times on VHS as a kid!
Those were wonderful times!
Fun fact: Bill Farmer ( voice of Goofy) took his son to a premiere of this movie and when it was over, his son cried. When Bill asked what was wrong, his son said this scene (36:33) was what got to him because it felt like he was really losing him.

Goofy cartoons have been around since the 30s short toonns at the theaters which loonytoons also did. I remember watching all the Disney shorts growing on weekend mornings. This series is based of the Goof troop series from the 90s.

I love this movie this was me and my daughter's favorite movie now she watches it with her kids,fyi powerline was voiced by tevin Campbell. Now you have to watch goofy movie 2.
If you were thinking of the show 'Goof Troop', that was the 90s. But Goofy as a character has been appearing in cartoons since 1932. Crazy, right?

NOW Y'ALL HAVE TO WATCH "ATLANTA: SEASON 4 EPISODE 8... A GOOF WHO SAT BY THE DOOR"!! Don't need to have seen the rest of the show, which is great, but again, Donald Glover is a genius with the episode which will make ya rethink A Goofy Movie!! 😮 ... To them, considered 'the blackest movie ever made!'

A childhood favorite of mine. Some comments.
I take it this film was a continuation of Goof Troop.
This movie is definitely a product of its time.
Max is in highschool, so he must be around which is 9th-12th grade.
A lot of people say Powerline is a Michael Jackson parody.
And 37:27, Goofy is already black, I mean look at his body.
Awesome reaction/ can you please watch a movie called LITTLE GIANTS.
seeing this as a kid and as a mom I see both perspectives. But Max tried to tell his dad his how important the party was and Goofy would not listen to him. Goofy needs better communication skills.
I get that Goofy was worried about Max and wanted to connect with him and that to adults a highschool party seems trivial and unimportant but kids don't see life the same way we do. Highschool parties, first dates, crushes, these are huge, huge deals to young people still figuring out who they are in this world. kids can't know what it is like to be adults, but as parents we have a responsibility to remember what it is to be a kid so that we can guide them through it. Had Goofy listened to Max and tried to see the situation from a kid's perspective this would have been a vey different movie.

I loved this movie when I was a kid, and I showed my daughter a couple of years ago. As a single parent now, it hits WAY different ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I have to be honest - Roxanne was the 2nd Disney animated female I thought was hot, after Ariel (and her seashells). Maybe it was her totally 90s teenage girl voice. It's such a shame she never came back in anything significant except a House of Mouse short. Tevin Campbell of course took the place of Bobby Brown, who the character of Powerline was designed after (not Michael Jackson), because Bobby was having drug issues at the time and Disney felt he was a bad role model. It would have been interesting, but Tevin (with the help of Rosie Gaines of Prince's New Power Generation for I2I) did an excellent job. I wish we actually got some dialogue from him as well rather than just the songs.

One of my favorites
This movie is always depressing to watch but I love it. It's always been hard since I was in 5th or 6th grade, cause I was always jealous of max, always wished i had a dad that cared about me and loved me like goofy.
Goof troop first aired in 1992, where as the goofy shorts started around the 50’s!! Great reaction video, this movie deserves more hype!! ❤️

Great movie really shows how life between a loving single dad and a teenager really does playout. The parent just wants to spend time with their child but the child is more interested in the girl and social standing. Always wondered why Peg and Pistol weren't in these movies even if only briefly. Did Pete and Peg divorce at some point? or did they just make this an alternate universe or something
I think it was to focus on the father and son aspect of the story. Pete is a more strict father but he was right about max. Makes the story more interesting, without the mother and daughter.
