    Besides a big knob, what is the difference between the size 15 Casting Special and plain Magnetic Cast reels? I have seen the smalker size Fathom reels have Magnetic Cast feature too?

    Why not just use barbless hooks if you're gonna put them back i use barbless all the time and hardly ever loose fish

    • @saltwaterfishingnortheastu527
      @saltwaterfishingnortheastu527 20 днів тому

      Because the flounder are not big enough to take line off the reel in my area and have very delicate bites which are difficult to see under normal surf conditions, so I have to wait until 20-30mins before bring in my line. I have tried barbless hooks in the past with no success. The best hooks for me in my area are barbed circle hooks

    What are the Advantages of using this Saltwater Baitcaster Reel w 12 ft Rod for Beach Surf Fishing as opposed to using a Saltwater Spinning Reel w 12 ft Rod? Will be casting out 2 oz Pyramid led weight attached to a 2-hook Pompano rig into the surf.

    The main problem with spinning reels is that how many anglers , wash them , then give them a rub with an oily rag , after a fishing trip, and keep them in a dry place , Many reels suffer from salt attack on parts damaged by knocks or scrapes , the Mitchells suffer from blistering but this may take 15 - 20 years , like all things if you look after them they will last and you will enjoy their performance .

    I just lost the spool tension cap off one mag4 reel I I’ve ordered a new one with the washers and what not however, I stripped the other knob down on the other reel and it’s missing parts from the factory there’s no metal thrust washer only a little silicone washer, I wonder what else is missing 😂

    Interesting video! I’ve recently started using the dongle rig with full circle hooks with great success for both bass and smoothound on the Dorset coast, it really is a surprisingly effective method and the fish are almost always hooked in the scissors. As someone else has already replied on here, I always snell my circle hooks as there is a lot of evidence that this provides an angle of leverage that hooks more fish than non-snelled hooks ( let me know if you’d like me to expand on this). I assume that you simply attach your flounder baits to the braid with elasticated thread, is this so? I too am about to try this approach with smaller circles than I usually use for smaller fish such as flatties and your results are encouraging.

    It's a very nice surf reel…! I have the wider version 15SD Interestingly, ... I ordered the casting special model but Amazon sent me this model.. In essence, they fucked me,,…. Bezos is EVIL...! He don't give 2 SHITS...! Like you said, shit happens... Lol🤣 Anyway, ... It's still a great reel, .. I've used it on my 9’ 10’6” 11’ and 12’ surf rods and it does not disappoint..👍😎👌it casts so nice and smooth, ... If you got the balls, ... Whip it as hard as you can and send it, ..…that’s what its made for….! 👍😎👌🤗

    Ive got the mag 525 original and also the 525 mag 4 and the mag 4 is twice as slow as the original on a spin test even swapped the bearing and same result so i would say the braking is a little too strong on the mag4

    I guess there are knot heads everywhere. I live in Alabama and fish the Tennessee river mainly for smallmouth bass. Some days you can’t fish because of those selfish idiots on jet skis. I also fish the Gulf of Mexico beaches but mainly with what you call “fixed spool” reels. I do have one Akios and a Daiwa slosh20 but haven’t mastered the casting yet. May have to try the Squall 2.

    That was a great laugh. Not having a go. We've all had those days. The what else can go wrong days. Although I wouldn't open up a reel on the beach. Especially the way they are made these days. Once sniff of salt air and they might crumble into sand. 😂 And fair play for putting the video up. Some only put up the good stuff.

    at 12.09 you can see next to the number 525 on the silver plate thats the damage the actuating lever that should run up and down that cutout slot has bent the plate and as you turn the free spool lever it is coming out of the cutout slot and thats why you are seeing the reel sideplate open up as you push pull the lever, straighten that plate up you should be good to go.

      Yo lo tengo en tamaño 15sd... veo que hay un pescador que siempre comenta de un reel frontal para no renegar con algo que llama nidos... acá les llamamos pelucas o galletas... es lo que hace más divertida mi pesca el detalle, el ser prolijo, el ser exigente... de 100 tiros puedo engalletar 3 veces máximo pero eso me ha llevado mucha práctica... si no llego a pescar me divierto igual lanzando... tiro entre 220 con carnada. Y no usamos multifilamento usamos nailon entre 0.30 o 0.35. Y salidas de 15mtrs de 0.70 Sin decir que es un reel poderoso con buen arrastre, suave, rápido y muy controlado.

    Also for your fly rod get som sinking float bombarda's helps you get some distance on the beach if you decide to use sea tied fly's give them a shot you will be very surprised mate , a use them with my abu black max and can launch a smallish fly a canny distance, the bombardas go up to 50 grams great bit of kit .
