Indicators by the window, gears to the inside of the car where the gearbox is. If you want the wipers on a stalk, then put the gears on the floor and put the wiper stalks on the left. That's what the British did. All British cars were that way in the 50s, 60s, 70s. Why the British swapped the stalks over? Perhaps EU regulations? Like that MX5 btw - and a good video.
Carl - that'd be the baseball hatted fellow from the infamous sinister march! Can't hear that particular piece of Mustard Music without it coming to mind! Cutting to the beard stroking while Carl is talking about the engine 😂 Pop-up headlamps, brilliant! Until one of them fails. Then again, its Mazda not Jaguar, so it probably won't! That Sinead O'Connor song ... 'Jump in the River' ? 😁
I went for an MGF when trying to choose between the MX5 and an MGF. I can twirl spanners, so mechanical faults are easier to fix for me, but the rust issues on pre MK 2.5 MX5s is beyond me. The bits that rust on MGs are easier to sort. If you can do bodywork, get an MX5. Either way, get one of them while they're still affordable :)
That door handle is perfectly designed to rip your fingernail off on a frosty morning when the door is frozen shut as your finger slips out of the hole and catches your fingernail. (Bearing in mind, mostly women are likely to drive one. But then frost isn't an issue in Japan unlike the UK 🤣
I used to own one of these eunos. It was a great little car I loved it. It was an import from Japan. So did my disabled son I have a photo of him sitting in the driver seat with a big grin on his face as I often did. I think there is a short video on my own channel of it when the alternator took a dump. I really do miss that car lol. It was a cracking drift car I often had many laughs at round abouts. That's the only thing about my own it rusted for fun. I did look at putting a turbo on mine but someone made me an offer I could not turn down. For me it gets a 10😀👌
I never got why the MGF got so much hate for the headgasket when the MX5 rust problem was so much worse and more expensive to fix yet they’re so loved. Both are great cars though in their own ways
I do like the MX5, great little sports car, I have an MGTF 135 in Royal Blue, the best colour in my opinion, had it 5 years now. It has continued to surprise me, just went through its MOT without an advisories. Its been reliable and fun and very economical. Both of these cars are worthy of their mark. Many critics say the TF is flawed but a lot of the problems are down to poor maintenance and cheap after market parts, I only buy OE parts and take care to maintain it as it was meant to be. Can't fault mine been a great fun car.
That exhaust is horrible versus the natural sounds and pops this vehicle makes. get a racing beat exhaust and find out yourself. That aside, thanks for the amazing review
I've had two of these,BOTH were GIVEN to me,both were Manuals. And BOTH were low milage cars that were un-messed with. I took them to the Scrapyard where I traded them for some Cars I wanted instead. *I was also just given a a 2-Owner VW Caddy with a Turbo Diesel. Zero rust. Garaged. VERY clean. Going to junk it*
Got a 1990 mk1 in December 2023. I am a old guy (68) and I love my MX5. A driver's car! Just love that the car speaks to me! Just wish the seemingly endless rain (I live in Ireland) would stop so I can enjoy my little Mazda more often. Thanks, enjoyed your video.
well, friend caTl, might be ok 'chap', but even without his cap we would know he is a bit of a boyracer and that's not good thing at all....noise, noise, too much noise for me.
Yes, he does look that way, but he's one of the most helpful and polite boy racers I know. The area we had a blast on was of course empty of traffic at backend of an industrial estate. Very noisy car though.
@@ProjectNigel yeah, it was empty obviously....haha, of course that not every boy racer cuts in front of you on a road or blasts music at the traffic lights just because he doesn't care how much annoying it is :)
The Japanese copied our right hand indicator, our sixties cars all had right indicators didn’t have a left stalk ! I have a mk1 and it’s great fun
Thank you.

Probably exactly that.

A great video and so educational ... "Japan isn't Great Britain" ... thanks Professor Mustard 😉
Always happy to educate 😁

Nice one. Thank you 🙂
You've just got to love a mk1 mx5, no matter how much rust is in the cills, or what's left of them
Absolutely fantastic 😁😊

For some reason the majority of Brits don't realise how good our own cars were.
I will own this car one day‼️🔥💯🤝🏻
Good, really good 😂
Yes Yes 😁

The people who that in this town are always in Audi A3s 😅
@@ProjectNigel haha, that's not strange, but I expect golfs also :)
@@ProjectNigel hey, mazda eunos or eunis/penis, really 'cocky' kind of a car...
