When I did work experience at my local Vauxhall dealer many moons ago, I had a Eunos come in which looked exactly the same as this. I remember how much I loved the steering wheel, the leather and the chrome touches inside. It would be funny if it was the same car.
@@lloydvehicleconsulting My Opinion Sirs. Maybe we are used to modern car suspension compensating for our poorly maintained roads. France, Germany, Sweden & holland have perfect MX5 mk1 roads ! Only Belgium roads are worse than the uk.
My best friend purchased her first generation MX-5 Miata with an automatic, and I personally have ridden in a red one with a manual, with the top down, of course! I do love a convertible, this is small for me (I am 5'8" tall), somewhat impractical, but it is fun! Headrest speakers only on first generation, a shame. I think the 1.8 litre 4 was standard in first generation but I'm not entirely sure. I do remember they had a stripped down Miata for track, no power windows, air conditioning, manual only. These were very lightweight, even with a driver's side airbag (not sure if it was required when first introduced, my memory is very bad!). I also believe it had four wheel disc brakes. Another excellent review Joseph!
Yes, it is an awful lot of fun. I do believe that those headrest speakers were only on the Mark Is, but I could be wrong. There were various engine options for this generation of MX-5, but they all essentially revolved around two 1.6 and 1.8 litre engines, depending on the market. Airbags were only on the later Mark I MX-5s.
Love those toggle switches, wooden steering wheel and Leather interior. Inspired by the classic MGB and Lotus Elan, now a classic in its own right. Those early pop up headlight cars are so cool. A friend has a relative with am Auto, not sure is it's an MX-5 or Eunos but it took him a while to find an automatic. These and the MR2s are cars I've sadly missed the boat on finding a cheep one.
Yes, sir! Sadly, the NA MX-5s and Eunos Roadsters are quite expensive now. The NBs are not too bad, we may even have an NC coming up on the channel soon! There is something about one of these really early cars, though, isn't there? Automatics were never officially available over here, all right hand drive automatics will be Japanese imports and will have Eunos badges.
Nice bodywork, nice colour, lovely interior, made better with Nardi Steering wheel , beautiful wheels, nothing not to like. What on earth were BL thinking in 1980. The mind boggles very frequently, Sir.
They wouldn't even let Tickford buy the design to the MGB to continue to sell an improved version, sir... Mazda got a long way ahead with the NA MX-5 before the MG TF came out. I have a bit of a preference for the MGs, but I like the MX-5s as well.
@@lloydvehicleconsulting of course, I love the MX5 as well but the fact remains that an improved MGB would have sold very well, especially in America, Sir. A sadly disorganised organisation. Hot Hatches were ok but they were never Sports Cars. Mazda's gain in absolute spadefuls.
@@lloydvehicleconsulting they RV8 was a beautiful car especially in BRG with beige leather interior. However, it was well above the average MGB buyers reach. It was never going to be a million seller. I just despaired with them because they had the know how to be world beaters, though what they have left us is a legacy of great classic vehicles that bring fond smiles to thousands at car shows and socials like yours.
@@seancooke7332 , yes, absolutely, classics like the RV8 are always very welcome at shows these days. The number of MGBs which survive is pretty crazy too!
Great review sir, beautiful car, green with beige leather interior umm, nice touch with the boot /petrol release hidden in a locked centre console, the sound of the exhaust is great.car, engine bay is spotless .you enjoyed yourself Joseph
I did enjoy myself, sir, but the phone firing itself out of the mount wasn't exactly my favourite... The car looks green in some shots, but it is actually black. The beige leather interior, though!
I've had 4 MX5s...2 NAs (One of which was the V Special), 1 NB and now on a NC 2.L with the power roof. All superb cars but the NA just about edges it for me in the driving experience. Just crazy prices nowadays for a decent one. Never had an auto though. Nice review and your camera reflects the lively suspension :)
Yes, the automatic wasn't available officially in this country from what I understand. I enjoyed the NB that I covered on Tweed Jacket Reviews about 18 months ago, a bit more refined and less likely to fire the phone out of the mount. I would like to try the other variants of MX-5 at some point as well, of course!
@@lloydvehicleconsulting My NC would be available for you to test when you have time. It's a 2.0 Sport Black Limited edition (number 238 out of 500) in crystal white with a contrasting black power hard top. I live just the other side of Winchester so am close to you. I'm sure you have a bit of a backlog of reviews to do after lockdown so no rush.
@@oddyseus99 , I am having a much quieter time over the next few days (quite deliberately), so I actually do have time to come and film your lovely MX-5, if you would like me to do so. Please send me an e-mail at the address featured in the video (I think that it is about a minute and a half in), and we can sort something out.
Thankyou Joseph for the review of my car. Full OE suspension but still Raw driving experience compared to the mk2 MX5 you drove
You can say that again, sir! The suspension didn't easily comply with my phone mount... I still thought that it was V-Special, however!
