      The hard thing is a lot of what CoD has become is in itself unenjoyable. Coldwar is largely broken and along with Warzone has it's more than fair share of cheaters. Add in SBMM that has made every match a sweat fest. The one match of reprieve every so often is meant to be the dopamine hit to manipulatively keep you playing. The series has become both financially and mentally predatory in nature. It's not a good series anymore. It is lackluster BS leaching off what used to be.

    This makes way too much sense. The best games I have are when I’m active on headset and I’ve got a team that communicates and works together. But the games where I’m just out doing my own thing, no matter how well I do, it never feels good. It’s another reason why I don’t like disbanding lobbies. I enjoyed WWII so much because you’d be able to chat with and play with the same people for hours. I hope that meta comes back soon.

    When I play CoD, I pick a few challenges that are achievable and try to accomplish them by the end of the play session. Seeing people go off in CoD makes plenty of people forget what a short term goal and a long term goal is. I didn't get my first nuclear medal until CoD WW2, when I've been playing CoD since CoD3.

      I dropped nukes during the mw2 era and Black ops2 era. Now their is to much movement to what I’m used to. I can’t shoot someone without them jumping and slide canceling to get out of it and truth is their not that good either. I watched these newer players play their hearts out when they get the movement down but if took it back to MW2; without that movement they would get bodied. This isn’t towards everyone just the majority. In those days all it took for me was to get the AC130 kill streak and the nuke is already there by the time it left. Now the killstreaks are sort of lack luster to what they were in the old days of COD. MW2019 has to many meta weapons that are really good to use. Most of the SMGs are more viable than ARs unless your your playing Warzone and need the extra range damage threshold. The novelty of hitting trick shots, 25-0 games, and funny clips are at an end. Cold War Isn’t even good compared to its predecessors. It’s sad.

    I think there's a massive distinction between holding strategic position and camping. As long as it helps the team win, it's acceptable. I've clutched search matches by sitting in spawn and picking off an impatient enemy team when we can't achieve map control. You can't kill anyone if you are dead.

    • @christiancooper478
      @christiancooper478 2 роки тому

      Agreed on that, i would always go one way for a bit, so everyone would gonto that side, then when they dont expect it flank them, but now it doesnt work because of the camping, both corners on their spawn, 2 in the middle, it’s ridiculous. Ive tried so many tactics, i cant get a kill anymore, and its ruining the game for me. First week i had it, easy 30-16 kd, now, its like 1-20 kd. Its got me all stressed the fuck out cuz its getting ridiculous to play. I always go on hardcore cuz its easier to get kills when you can. Any other game mode is like aids

    Man, I needed that video. I often get so frustrated when I play WZ or CW and try to be Metaphor and be super aggressive and never stay at one place because it's "camping". But in reality, you just have to play smart and within your capabilities. Meaning that know when to push and know when to slow down. And just trust the process.

    and I had the same issue, when you are deeply into something like CoD and watch all these Videos on it, you quickly forget that 99% of people only upload their best, so you constantly get that wrong impression of what their skill-level is, they have matches where they don't hit a Clip or die a lot too.

    When we came clans backed out, and i contributed to camping but not just camping, camping in high traffic areas in or around the centerpoint of the map.
    And there were some good rushers in my squad, so even if the opponent wanted to take his time to eliminate me, they were always picked off by my quick rushing teammates.
    Even solo some clans reconized me but they stayed since i was with randoms, but still managed to make it difficult for them to rush freely, or in your words *"making them nervous to navigate the map"*

    I grew up with COD and the classics - xJawz, Woody, Drift0r, Whiteboy…Nobody really cared about game design or personal performance, as long as they were having fun and improving through experience. Dopamine boosts were organic; fueled by personal achievements and impressive plays. The abundance of gun guides, best classes, and Nuke/MOAB videos drove me to push my nonexistent FPS skills to their limits. I wanted to drop nukes, get mastery camos, and camp in the best spots in Infected. I wanted to be a famous UA-camr, to turn my only real passion into a career. Impatience and a lack of instant gratification killed that dream. To this day I still rage over inconsistent aim and mediocre K/D. It took me so long to realize how emotionally invested I’ve gotten in something that should have always remained a casual hobby. Gaming has kept me happy for a long time, and there is plenty of fun to be had. But this video and deeper reflection makes me question if gaming is really enriching my life, or I’m feeding into an addiction for the sake of nostalgia and constant emotional stimulation.

In a lobby full of players using 360 chat mics and loud footsteps, you didn't need to be amazing to get a high score that was bolstered by killstreaks. That was your YT worthy gameplay right there. Even easier if you used MP40/M16/UMP etc on a 4 bar connection.

    Thanks for making me feel better about the fact that both my teammates and the enemy team yell at me for carpeting the map with smoke grenades cause im a disgusting Thermal Scope LMG abuser. If they scream at me i did my job, even if i lose.

    When I was going for DM Ultra I was using SMGs and going for feeds playing super aggressive and I'd have awesome clips but often I'd get stuck trying to get into position for it now I've switched over to an AR main I hold the map and make it hell for anyone to try and cross. Playing league play really gave me a reality check I don't have the skills to rush super effectively in these newer games with crazy mobility so I switched to an AR and turns out I shoot pretty damn straight and have a nack for finding dirty ass lines of sight. However I'll still run an sub in SnD because I can handle 1v1s pretty well. I guess I pride myself in being versatile or the "Flex" player as the CDL calls it.

    Great video, trying to go against the grain and getting the entire lobby against me/hunting for me has been my favorite part about CoD since I started in MW2.
    Let's admit it, riot shield/dangerclose/tac knife stabby hiding in corners jumping off roofs stuff is just good fun. especially when the enemy team has someone that gets salty about it. Lol
    I do not care that the one nuke I got was spent jumping between buildings I've laced with explosives and scavenging off everyone trying to stop me. It was like half hipfire and claymore kills but I only pulled it off because the entire enemy team didn't adapt and let me do it. Lol

    Honestly as much as I hate camping in corners... when I'm having a rough map I'll slow down to get myself in a better situation. Once I have the enemy pissed off I'll rush them like a crack head lol. It usually works. I know I have the gunny to mop a team of 6. But cod is so much more than gunny. Granted if your aim isn't great my advice is to push more gunfights... kd really doesn't mean shit. It's just a number. Plus when people do judge your low kd but you're mopping the floor with them it makes it feel that much better

    0:31 I did that when I first got into online cod(bo3 and iw). I still love the mindset. Only problem now is when people actually use op weapons devs don't want to change. Or when melee actually sucks(BOCW). I actually missed the old melee-ing where you could one hit kill to the back but 2 hit kill from the front(now you have to use an execution to one hit kill from the back... you can't just quickly bash them from behind and move on...).

    • @Mattsuki
      @Mattsuki 3 роки тому +1

      Bocw and mw melee kills require 2 hits unless preforming an execution. Bocw melee feels terrible though because of no lunge and how you can do the kill animation but the kill doesn't actually register... dam terrible design imo

  • @Mattsuki

    One of the reasons I like overkill is the ability to snipe(With a sniper) and run and gun with an SMG/AR. I can design a class for more situations and for being more adaptable. I think it works the best on more messy maps. Plus my enemies have to actually be better than me rather than catch me off guard at a range my gun can't compete at. If you guys don't already use overkill or law breaker, I highly recommend trying it. It's my favorite way to play.

    • @Mattsuki
      @Mattsuki 3 роки тому

      For example, if I'm on Express using an SMG, someone can use a sniper from their hallway that overlooks the trains. I'm obviously going to lose at a range. But if I duck for cover, switch to my own sniper, I can easily compete in a 55/45 gunfight, rather than a 99/1 gunfight.
      I could look for another route... or I could ego challenge. I see a lot of people who hate snipers who post up in a power position, especially on Grazna Raid on mw. My simple advice is to run a sniper secondary and be better than them at sniping/being accurate.

    Camping is just a part of the gameplay. The game permits you to do it, so it's there as an option to use. I remember being on hovec sawmill in mw2019 and killing someone in the barn. I hid, then another came in and I got him. I stayed there for about 30 seconds, wiping them out when they kept trying to re-enter the barn, because I knew they'd be after me and I could kill them more easily, not for the sake of it. I got called a camper over the coms, although it was just a tactic I used at that point in the game to keep me going. Nothing wrong with that.

    The real issue that sparked this video comes down to 3 things: Modern Warfare's popularity and Modern Warfare's Ghost perk.
    Modern Warfare revived Call of Duty. It brought countless of people back into COD. But there were 2 issues with that. The game was introduced as a tactical shooter, giving less power to the clip hunters and the showoffs, but it gave too much power to the tactical players, especially with Ghost. And this was most apparent with Warzone. About 20 whole minutes of playing and 10 kills can be deleted by a default skin hiding in a bush with the Ghost perk, and you have no way to counter that. That person did *not* do their job right, they probably didn't even enjoy killing you. They were camping.
    Despite how much we want to eliminate the word "camping", the introduction of a battle royale where you can just equip a perk and remain invisible no matter where you are is the issue. Those people do camp, they are an issue and they have too much power on their hands.

    I watch a lot of bf4 players who are insane and I admit it sometimes makes me doubt myself when I don’t perform to their standards, even if I am in fact doing well relative to other players.
    My play style does not facilitate this well. Through playing 200 hours of titanfall my favourite strategy is to rush towards the enemy, moving as much as possible to be hard to hit, and shooting when the opportunity arises, and it works in that game. But it doesn’t work in bf4 and most other games. So moving forward I’m going to try and play more strategically as you say, play smart, consider where the enemy will be and where I can get shot from, cause that’s how you actually do well.
