    If you drop into a game with players you don't know and it goes well: don't be afraid to stick around and see if they plan on doing more missions.
    Not everyone does one mission and calls it a day, and most of the players I know are often willing to help with assignments beyond what you dropped in to.

    Use the terrain scanner! On lower difficulties, the environment and/or extraction clock can often prove more of a threat than the bugs themselves. Knowing where to go can be a huge deal.

    This tipp is for solo more than multiplayer, especially so if you're currently not playing Scout or Driller. Before you call in the drop pod, take a look at the Terrain Scanner! Check for a way out from where you are in every possible direction the drop pod can land. If you are in a bad spot, maybe move away from your current location first before you call it. Helps to avoid being surprised by Molly running up a cliff at a 90 degrees angle and having to take the long way around on your own while bugs are spawning in

  • @Fightersword
    @Fightersword 2 роки тому +38

    Be as aware of your surroundings as possible. Obviously this is related to how you can move around the terrain so you don't corner yourself, but bugs also love to come down the walls behind or around you through areas you weren't watching. Whenever you've got a little free time during a swarm, scan your surroundings, and keep your ears open for bugs coming at unusual angles or macteras taking off camera pot shots at you or your team mates. on higher difficulties catching that slasher or tri jaw rearing up behind you is often the difference between going down and winning relatively comfortably.

    That bit about picking a single class to get the promotions is solid advice! Just a minor bit I picked up. I was in a lobby where someone disconected, turning the mission solo, and I noticed this little grey-hexagon-thing on the ground. I had no idea what it was so, after scouring the mine for somewhere to use it I got my laptop from the other room and went to the wiki to look up what it was called on the laser scanner. That being the "resource bag".
    When a dwarf disconects from a match they drop one and it's filled with all the respurces they had on thier character that were not deposited. They act like heavy objects like eggs or jadiz and need to be deposited in a deposit point. They have the potential to be empty if the dwarf had nothing on them but they spawn-on-disconect regardless. This is a big thing that the game doesn't tell you about. (To my knowledge, I could just be ignorant.)
    My advice comes in two parts. If someone disconects you should probably try and find thier bag. They might have had some secondary objectives or, in a mining expidition, even morkite on them on top of any nitra and crafting materieals.
    Even more importantly, if you are going to disconect from a mission and you can control the circumstances around it.(Serious and/or urgent real-life stuff means you should just leave the keyboard or controller imediately.)Try to disconect right up close to others.
    In a "mobile" mission like mining, egg hunting, or elimination where the level is a tube or linear level with an end. Your best bet is to just get as close to the middle of your squad as possable or disconect somewhere you know they're going to have to pass again.
    In a "Stationary" mission like aquarqs, refining or mini-mules I recomend disconnecting near a "hub". In the case of the first two it's the cargo rocket hands down. Dwarfs are constantly going to and from there. In mini mules I recomend the uplink, fule pump or the drop-pod itself.
    For escort it's alot trickier. The dozer should be out of fule if you're disconecting otherwise you're probably abandoning at a real freakin' bad time anyway.
    And lastly for industrial sabotage I recomend the middle of the the data vault room. You usualy need to pass through it a few times getting to the power stations so the bag may well be seen by passing dwarves.
    This was lengthier than I thought it'd be but I hope it helps!

    Not directly a gameplay tip, but ask before calling the drop pod! Unless the team is clearly indicating that they are done (e.g. everyone is standing around the mule and pinging it, or spamming rock and stone), calling the drop pod on your own initiative tends to be a bad thing. Same thing goes for popping dreadnought eggs, setting up the uplink or fuel cells during salvage operations, or pressing all kinds of buttons.
    Communication is key, use the chat.

    I'm a new PS player most of this was really helpful! I've mainly been running off of EDF instincts to get out of hairy situations. I just promoted my last dwarf being Engi I use one turret instead of 2 because im very bad at keeping both turrets fed with ammo.

    One tip l don't see anyone giving and that l see happening a lot is, know what is your class "job priority" is.
    For example, when you're playing scout and you're doing escort, don't start fueling the cannisters if theres a driller or gunner around that are much less mobile than you, and focus on get nitra and complete the secondary instead. Same goes for engineer that should be supporting the scout in that.
    Besides that, great video

    tip 13 is why i always think of how do u get back and how comfortable the route is. Yes we may have a driller in our team, but idc, i have PTSD from 2018 of struggling for 5 minutes to get out from the pit generation thing, and endless memories of dirt tunnels being dug way too quickly which resulted in me stumbling at them in the end and taking very unnecessary damage from that

  • @considerthehumbleworm

    On top of number 14, i’ve found it incredibly helpful to consider a gun’s total damage vs it’s damage per second. The calculation’s simple (just damage per shot * max ammo) and you’ll find a lot of ammo upgrades are only marginally better than damage upgrades in terms of total damage. The lead storm is a good example because the total damage is 15000 with ammo and 14400 with damage, a difference of only 600

      Morkite gives 1 xp per extra Morkite. Ebonite and the like usually give 2 xp. So morkite is the only thing worth getting extras of. And that’s mainly only for double xp and if the morkite is quick and easy enough to get. Because at most you’ll be getting like 200 extra XP.

    • @frogg3r449
      @frogg3r449 2 роки тому

      I don't think there's a best class per se, it all depends on mission type and mutations (like swarmer infection, for example). Every class got pros and cons. But for me, scout will have a special place in my heart always since it was my first main and the mobility really fits my playstyle

    • @HolyApplebutter
      @HolyApplebutter 2 роки тому +1

      The two classes I see lauded the most are typically Engineer or Driller (with the latter being my favorite). Both classes are extremely flexible depending on your loadout.
      I can't speak as much about Engie, as I don't play him as much, but really the only thing Driller struggles with is with Dreadnoughts (what you'll be fighting in Extermination missions). Otherwise he's got great cc, especially with the cryothrower. Enemies that explode or release gas are also defused while frozen, which can come in clutch when backed into a corner. Driller may not seem very mobile, but being able to tunnel virtually anywhere is great not only for creating cover and getting to the drop pods, but also for creating a more open battleground during swarms and bunkering (if you do that). His drills and throwing axes also activate vampire, meaning every enemy (preferably frozen) you kill with them will give you health. Lastly, he can mine remotely with the Experimental Plasma Charger, if you take the "Thin Containment Field" upgrade.
      Don't get me wrong, all the classes are pretty great, but imo a good driller is one of the most dependable teammates you can rely on.

    Should you overmine minerals / secondaries?

    • @solarupdraft
      @solarupdraft 2 роки тому +3

      You get a small xp bonus for any extra objectives mined/gathered, but it inefficient to scour the whole cave for them and find every last one.
      Rare crafting minerals, on the other hand, are always worth stopping for on an early save file. Gold is somewhere in between: you get more credits for just completing missions, but if you only had time for two missions anyway, it might make sense to get all the gold from those two missions.

    • @HolyApplebutter
      @HolyApplebutter 2 роки тому +5

      It should be noted that for things like Morkite, that small xp boost is literally 1 xp per unit mined. Not at all worth it, in my opinion. That said, even at 800 hours, I still scour the cave for precious minerals, whether I actually need them or not.
