More Tips: -You can change the camera angle by pressing up and down on the D-pad during a race to zoom in and out. Most people prefer to play the game zoomed out one notch from the default camera angle as that gives you much more visibility. And if you want to get really immersed in the F-Zero experience, you can zoom all the way in to go into first-person mode! Bring a doggy bag if you choose to do this. -Landing flat from a jump lets you preserve speed. Generally the best way to handle jumps is to nosedive to build up speed and then pull up to flatten out right before you land to preserve a lot of speed. -You'll gain more distance off your jump if you don't dive, so sometimes it's better to do that. It depends on the situation. -Use jump pads to cut off as much of the track as possible. This is especially essential for Chapter 3 of Story Mode. -Holding L and R is kind of like strafing: you move left and right laterally without changing your angle. You can make tight turns by holding the strafe and steering, and you can make small adjustments to your racing line to avoid dirt or traps without the risk of losing grip. You strafe less if you only hold down the button vs. also steering in the direction you strafe. -If you hold L and R at the same time, your vehicle loses grip and can turn much sharper. This is mainly good for making very tight hairpin turns. Once you get more advanced, you can use this for a tactic called Quick Turning, where you push L+R, steer in the direction you want, then let go of whichever direction you're not going (i.e. to turn left, L+R, steer left, let go of R). This isn't something you want to worry about just starting out, but if you can master it you can turn very tightly and maintain a lot of speed. -The in-game stats lie. Many vehicles have better or worse boosters, bodies and grip than listed, and other stats like top speed and acceleration aren't even shown. There are guides online which show a vehicle's true stats, so look those up if you want to make informed decisions about which vehicle you pick (also watch the videos on this very channel which cover the pros and cons of each machine). To any newbies, hope this helped and have fun! This game rules.
The way I do quick turns is that I strafe in the direction opposite to the direction I want to go in, then immediately after I strafe and turn in the direction I do want to go in. Can I stick to this method? I think it’s working consistently for me
Pay attention to the commenter who explained "quick turns", I actually couldn't even get past chapter 3 until I learned how to do this. Just holding a direction + the associated trigger wasn't enough in my experience, so learning the "quick turn" technique was a game changer.
More tips: - As pointed out, machines are different. I can recommend to avoid the low acceleration machines or those that feel slippery. Machines like the Blue Falcon, Golden Fox or Little Wyvern are good for beginners. They have good acceleration and steer very well at max speed but always be open to experiment as you keep playing. - Track memorisation is key in this game. Avoid low acceleration settings until you have a grip on the stages. Knowing where the risky turns or regeneration panels are is huge.
definitely a lot better. I like that you demonstration the cons of pulling back when your machine is falling. Showing all these pros, cons and demonstrating it on screen helps gives a lot of context for these guides/tips. I think what you could have done for the turns is demonstrating how the different turns can help you in the vid. Like in Aeropolis AX track, show just steering with stick won't help you especially if you're on max speed on that huge curve. Show why you should utilize some of those turning techniques you demonstrated and oh hey look utilizing this can help you with those big curve tracks.
Thank you so much for this I played this game back in high school but couldn't even get past the tutorial stage in story mode lol no wonder! And thank you for explaining the turning mechanics. Most guides for racing games only talk about the gameplay effects but you did a great job of detailing the controls and inputs
More Tips: - Zoom out one time, it is comfortable. - The Best Machine to drive is the Fat Shark (Don Genie) (Unlockable by completing Chapter 4 Very Hard) or Sonic Phantom (The Skull) from the shop, you may also choose Hyper Speeder (Beastman). But Fat Shark is the most chosen one and easy to win all the GPs. (I beat from Expert Emerald to AX Cup Master 2 days ago. *even the first try in AX Cup Master, but I started Expert on it*) - In my opinion, Chapter 2, 4, 6 are the easy missions you can complete in Very Hard. (I haven't done all the chapters yet)
I didn't know about the calibration thing! I'm gonna mess with both it and customizing controls and see where it gets me. Maybe I'll be able to finally get through expert difficulty cups!
I played some Grand Prix stuff first but playing most of story mode so early one is a pretty big mistake, but at the same time it almost feels like I learned a lot from it. Like the one where you have the bomb and you must drive above 700 mph or else it explodes. I really learned how much turning or bonking into walls could slow you down

Yes, the blue area is the deadzone. It's a good idea to widen it as the default size is extremely sensitive. Here is a video on it: ua-cam.com/video/hPMl4stBMLc/v-deo.html&ab_channel=SDANaegleria

Do you know if flattening out to conserve speed after a nosedive also works in F-Zero X?

Just picked this game up and this helps a lot. Thank you. Looking forward to using Quick Turn!

Played the game for the first time today and the music is incredible man
Played it for the first time yesterday so I'm here! Missed out on it as a kid on my GC sadly

Tip for the video, make the text boxes scroll faster. I had to watch on 1.5x speed. Love the video though! It was so helpful!

One thing I also know I should have mentioned was the camera. I used to make a deal of it in FZN and never brought it up here.
Use the control stick gently, don't tilt it all the way
Hopefully more people pick this game up.
Thank you so much for this

This game is on par with FAST Racing Neo when it comes to the speed and difficulty. Beautiful title!

Even tho I’m new to this game, it ROCKS
One of Nintendo’s best games

Nice video
I've played this game since its release and I still don't know what the blue area of calibration does. Is that the deadzone?

Thank u! 😭
Whoa what’s the name of the song playing when the GameCube controller is showing ?
It’s from F-Zero GX - it plays when messing with custom machines (adding parts, coloring, designing emblems, etc).
ANd remember guys: play Fat Shark.
im stuck on the second story mission that dude always speeds up right at the end when im out of health
Dont use the turbo untill the end, just drive properly and boost at the end
Put all your stats to Max Speed, boost once at the start, don’t get hit and never boost until the final turn, at which point you spam your boost.
Has anyone tried snaking?
Plenty have. But it can lead to finger and wrist problems. Not to mention damage controller buttons.
Yeah, it's pretty easy to do, the challenge is just on where to use it.
