Who the hell needs a walkthrough for an outdated, 20-odd year old game?

It came out on N64 switch online library back in March
I just got nso expanded pack and certainly do!
What makes this game REALLY impressive is how the programmers managed to fit 30-ish racers, the greatest soundtrack ever composed, and Lord only knows how many tracks -- all onto a system with lrss computing power than many calculators today.
It's an all around gem for sure. A huge step up from its SNES predecessor.
Thumbs up for keeping the legend that is F-Zero alive!

One neat little technique that i picked up while watching others play F-Zero X was boost drifting. It's where if you have your machine set to acceleration rather than speed and you're coming up on a right hairpin turn, you hit your left trigger that'll cause your machine to strafe to the left, turn your stick to the right making you drift, then boost through the turn at high speeds all at the same time and vice versa for left hairpin turns.

Boost drifting is a solid advanced technique I haven't quite picked up but have seen / played around with. Blood Falcon is a notorious pick for this technique and I'd like to get better at using him in this way.
Good pick for a main! James McCloud's Little Wyvern is a comparable machine worth trying if you like Captain Falcon's imo.
@@Majora_T I actually have a clip on my Nintendo switch of me boost drifting at the Big Hand track in the Joker Cup. 😁
using the boost at the right time is what i focus on first when i started to get decent at the game
Definitely a great tactic. Expert is near unwinnable without optimizing boosts.
I always save the boosts for long straights
Wow that’s a lot of racers. This is a series I’m rather unfamiliar with (as far playing) but always enjoy watching the gameplay footage.
Yet another series that Nintendo continues to ignore sadly.

This is a series worth investing into. Lots of great gameplay to go around, especially in the GameCube version.

@@Majora_T I’m kinda sad they don’t have a name. I just call them Cool Robot Voice
A machine’s weight is also worth mentioning. I’m not sure how much it affects individual driving characteristics, but it does determine how much you get knocked around in a collision with another racer. Probably depends on the other racer’s weight too. That being said I find machines with higher weight are better for GP as you can get knocked around a bit in crowds but it won’t scrub too much of your speed.
Roger Buster/Mighty Hurricane is an interesting character in that he has an E body and B grip/boost, but his machine is relatively heavy. Most EBB or EAC craft are generally quite light and get jostled around way too easily to be viable for GP, especially the harder cups.
Oh yeah, Gomar and Shioh (twin Noritta) get bullied around on the track super hard, otherwise I'd probably use them as more of a mainstay. Once you get too heavy though like Black Shadow level, the machines have wretched turning ability.
Also if you pick a machine with light weight & are going too fast on certain parts of certain tracks you just fly off the track 😂😂
A lot of this can be applied to the series in general... though F-Zero X is arguably the hardest to do all of this stuff
There are significant differences in general machine handling across platforms. It's when comparing SNES to GBA that I find the differences far smaller.

Blood falcon. He's good for drifting, he's good for flying, he's good for boosting and looks badass.
I remember seeing crazy videos of him drifting back in the days -- I'd love to get back in the habit of using his machine.
@@Majora_T use him on fire field and drift good so you take off the giant ramp and be able to ppick up a TON of speed.

Hi mate! Red Gazelle for the first-up, all speed no body... classic glass cannon. Twin Norita for midgame, and the Skull for late... all big favourites. Yeah, you can guess my slider never goes more than a segment or two from the very far right. Cheers!

Great tips man! Personally white cat or hyper speeder are probably my favorite. Something to keep in mind for Expert difficulty and Master is that you need to take 1st in most races and can only really afford to take top 4 in the last one or 2 tracks
That's true, AI positions 1 and 2 have incredible tenacity. Sometimes, it's almost worth expending a few lives trying to knock them out.
@@Majora_T Absolutely, if you haven't mastered drifting then whoever is in 1st or 2nd is going to give you a run for your money. They take certain turns on Joker Cup with incredible accuracy in places I always graze the side on.
I am the only one I know, who is not too afraid of this game, to actually play it. my favorite pilot is Jody Summers, she grips the best. I generally use even speed/acceleration but I turn it just a tiny bit to the accel. side.

God. . . This game I´m telling ya´ll. Like, everyone got their favorite titles for them various consoles and THIS ( altough I never got an N64 back as a kid ), was mine. Like, I really played the shit out of this, over and over again. When this game came out and I started to make my first contacts with Hard Rock´n Heavy Metal, besides the ( for that time & in my eyes ) awesome visuals it was the music that just amazed me by a 125%. I just couldn´t beliefe my ears how heavy the soundtrack was, like god damn! =D F-Zero X will always be one of my all time favorites! YOU GOoooT BOOST POooWRRRrrr!! =D =D - Ou did you guys know that this series is actually calle Formula - Zero? Kinda brutal when you thing about the jump from Formula 1 to Zero in terms of horsepower.
I tried whacking as many opponents as I could, knowing that I could both get extra lives for doing so, and that their score for that track would be a big fat 0, making catchup impossible.
It's so satisfying to wreck your rivals when their score is close in the last few races.

Beast Man is a classic; used to love his character. The machine pilots well too.

Imma say this Give Black Bull a shot his cars actually really nice. I was looking for my car when playing with my friends and once I tried black bull I was beating them badly with that car. It’s OP
I recommend Black Bull on courses where you're less prone to hitting walls or obstacles. Also a solid recommendation for machine bashing if you can avoid slamming the walls.

Jody Summer is an underdog! Her vehicle has great grip and acceleration and I love that it's available from the start.

Still one of my weirdly fondest memory is a gp race on big hand where in the end only I was in the race xD.
I mean it is usual a few fall down but ALL except yourself? XD
White Cat is the greatest vehicle, did move onto Black Shadow for the higher difficulties though (sorry ms Summer)

Do characters with lower max speed like Octoman and the twins do worse on track? I always tend to do better with crazy bear iron tiger fire sting ray and such.
Also when should I focus on destroying my machines? I usually in a mosh pit let go of the acceleration button do the spin attack and see how many vehicles I can retire
Max speed is beneficial for the easier courses where you’re less prone to bump into walls.
On destroying machines, you should have a character with at least a B but no lower than a C for body. I find it especially helpful for attacking rivals in expert cup. Also, I’d highly encourage using the bash attack instead for focused attacks and so you don’t lose time in the race.

@@StarForceBelmont321 those characters have a high boost rating. Are you sure you’re not confusing weight (kg) in the bottom right corner with speed?

How you unlock them winning races or cups or both?

When do you press A during the start? After 2 or right when he says one?
There is no boost at the start. You can start holding A whenever.
@@hagbardceline7118 I disagree. Its not a boost start with the green exhaust but you start at the same pace as the rest of the pack instead of slowly accelerating.
From my memory, the bootup varies based on the vehicle. The boost is not as significant as seen in Mario Kart but I feel like I've seen differences as well.
I love using Bio Rex tbh. Another note for new comers. Side attacking away from a wall you’re going to hit is a good way to minimize time spent towards the wall and possibly let’s you catch any pesky racers on your tail. Also really helpful for dodging gravel.
But only do this if you think you’ll slow down or hit a wall/gravel anyways, since it slows you down a little.
I had the slide turn its such a terrible mechanic, I also dont like how precise the turning is other then that its a fun game
Are you referring to the spin move? I only use the bash attack because of how detrimental the spin attack is.
Different pilots have different precision based on their grip stat. It may be worth playing around with the machines and acceleration / speed balance to see which combination works for you.
@@Majora_T no I'm talking about how the car goes into a drift turn if you turn to hard the turning is so precise in that you have to do it so lightly thats what i hate I'm trying to make a turn and the car just starts drifting as I make the turn its annoying I have lost races cause of it
@@joshrobinson2409 not that it matters 9 months later but quickly letting go of A and then pressing it back down will immediately stop you from sliding. You’ll lose a bit of speed but can be worth it
