This reminds me of a spread we made in home economics when I was in school. We used baked beans to make a paste, then spread the paste on toast then topped it with cheese and put it under the broiler. Delish! I’ll have to try yours or that old one again. Thanks!
Wow this looks delicious!! I love cannellini beans - never would have thought to make them into a salad for a sandwich! Definitely will be trying this thank you so much for sharing!
Great. I have made this sandwich since I was a teen and never thought of making it with chickpeas. Don't know why because I love them. Now I have to try it with them. Did you soak and remove the skins from the chickpeas before smashing them or did you leave them intact?
This sounds unusual but definitely worth trying! I love the idea of sliced radish , how pretty and crinchy! First time watching, really enjoyed, I’ve subscribed!
Thanks so much for watching and subscribing. Try it and let me know what you think. We are working on more videos. Hopefully, you will enjoy them too. Thanks again.
I cannot wait to try this recipe! I'm always looking for ways to use beans because they're so high in protein and fiber. I'm a big fan of cannellini beans and always keep several cans in the pantry (I don't think you can have a totally well-stocked pantry without an assortment of canned beans). Everything on the sandwich (and in the salad) are favorites of mine (love to put crisp radishes on a sandwich and I'm sure their sharper flavor counterbalances the wonderful soft sweetness of the fresh tomato slices. I have just discovered your channel, but with recipes like this, I will certainly be coming back to Grandma Bessie's House! Thank you!
Wonderful recipe. I use these beans in soup but never in a sandwich. All the added ingredients are what I like to eat most. Not many people like fresh green onions and radishes. Thank you
It's weird but as a kid Grandma Bessie had to force me to eat radishes. As an adult, I grow them in my home vegetable garden. Recently, I started eating more microgreens and the radish ones are amazing. I tried some on this sandwich and they added to the flavor. Thanks for watching.
Looks delicious! Also, I love how you explain everything well and the production quality is very good! Looking forward to more content from you. Also, love it when the ingredients are listed like that in the description.
I believe that cooking and feeding folks is a way of showing love. Listing the ingredients and recipes in the description is an extension of that. Plus, I want y'all to try the recipes. So, I try to make it as easy as possible for you. Thanks for watching.
I'm always looking for alternatives to certain dishes due to severe food allergies. I had never thought about using beans as a base for a sandwich salad before. I have all the ingredients for this in my kitchen already, and this recipe is right up my alley, I love all of the ingredients in it. It would be a great option to bring to work for lunch, or as a snack with crackers or toast, or a salad on a bed of fresh spinach. Liked and subscribed, looking forward to seeing more. Thank you!
Let me know how you like it. I did not mention this in the video but sometimes when I feel like having an extra kick from this recipe, I roughly chop kalamata olives and add them to the salad mixture.
@@grandmabessieshouse Unfortunately ma'am, I don't like olives. lol My grammy would make deviled ham salad not unlike this, and other kinds of sandwich salads, and would always put chopped sweet pickle in it (not relish from a jar, individually diced sweet pickles). I might try that, or some chopped pickled jalapenos.
Thanks so much and definitely try this recipe. I just whipped up a batch of the cannellini bean filling last night so I can have a sandwich for breakfast this morning. This is definitely an easy to make go to sandwich for me. Enjoy.
This is a go to sandwich for me because it is quick and delicious. Plus, you can add additional toppings if you like and it enhances the flavor. Try it and let me know if you like it. Thanks for watching.

There's nothing particularly original or special about this recipe. I've eaten any number of similar mock egg salad or mock tuna salad sandwiches, almost always using either beans or tofu. The recipes are all over UA-cam and the internet. They're OK, but, unfortunately for vegans, a real tuna salad or egg salad sandwich is infinitely better. Since you're using cheese, this recipe is meant for either vegetarians or omnivores. If you're vegetarian, you might give this a try; otherwise, don't waste your time with this, and just make a tuna melt sandwich.
As mentioned in your comment, there are plenty of mock tuna salad sandwich recipes on the internet. This is my version. I am not vegan and agree that tuna and/or egg salad sandwiches are great. This is an alternative. For vegans interested in trying this recipe, as mentioned in the video description substitute cheese with vegan cheese or if you don't like eating cheese, do not add cheese. This is what I enjoy about cooking. You can take a recipe, try it, like the recipe as is or put your own spin to it. Thanks for watching.

celery seed is a thing? there goes my ever growing number of spice bottles i guess...
Yes, celery seed is a thing! If you like dry rubs for chicken or pork, add a little celery seed. It brings the flavor to another level.
My aunt puts celery seed in her tuna macaroni salad and it takes it to a whole nother level! Definitely a must in the cabinet almost with celery salt!
