I've got one of these. I modified it with a 1500w motor and sabvoton controller and a larger 30Ah battery, plus as you mention a rear seat on the rack. It's heavy and not really portable but it's excellent for getting around with two people on
I have one of this and is great. The I-ERS works and it works great, but it will only engaged above 20kmh and if using 25% of power, that means level 0 or 1. Also, all system works better if you use the speed limit at it's maximum, which is 50 kmh.... You notice it working when the power bar turns green instead of grey. Try it going downhill, or just pedal in level 0 above 20 kmh....good luck! I have been doing some rides in up and down roads, and that's were you'll notice its benefits.
I have this same bike, but I changed it to a 7 speed. I use the bike for excercise and find myself using 1st gear a lot to help the motor on the hills, and with the 8 speed freewheel in first gear the drive chain was grinding off the side of the rear tire. There was no customer support frow this company so I made the repair at my own expense.
I bought this bike 6 months ago in the Netherlands (the first one here). I'm still really happy with it. Everything works still like its new. In my opinion its better than other makes which cost up to twice the price.
Great video but I would like to correct you on the I-ERS . I have the latest upgaded version and it works amazingly for me. It works best where there are lots of hills, particularly moderate and steep hills. I achieve excellent regen at over 500w when going down hill on pas 0/1and gear 7. It's designed for sharp declines and I love it.
the reasons for narrow handle bars are that if you get up and stand on the pedal , this bike feels like you're riding a scooter . Try it you won't be dissapointed , secondly when you fold the bicycle , the narrow handle bars help with easier loading and unloading
I did pretty much all the upgrades possible and I just glide through the streets on a similar model (EP2-Pro). In the rain, water can get into the terminals in the fold, so a tiny bit of tape around the seam or a poncho take care of these issues, otherwise 203mm brakes, 60T chainwheel, 11-36T freewheel, air shocks instead of springs, thudbuster seatpost, 10" BMX bars, reverse brake levers over for UK spec, X1-Stem (folding), converted the threaded steering tube to semi integrated headset bearing (not the open race cheapies it comes with). And there's pretty much nothing holding me back apart from those hoards of angry motorists, scores of zombie pedestrians too busy watching their phones to realize they're in a cycle path, angry/militant Karen's and man Karen's pointing out that the path is walking only when it is in fact part of the national cycle route. Other than that, even rain at -4C didn't stop me taking this beast to work each day. I've learned so much modding this bike, I'll never need to take it to the shop. Thanks Engwe!
Just bought the latest upgraded pro for $1199 Australian which is a lot cheaper, maybe something to do with transport costs and that included delivery.
I ordered it, hope it arrives soon. I always feel a bit nervous about the folding mechanism, is it really safe to go 30 kmph with a frame that is held together with 1 tiny lever?
I know you typed this comment 2 months ago, but YEAH you can of course feel safe and ARE safe riding 30 km/h thats held together with 1 lever, its strong and build for it. Hope you're enjoying the bike!
@@x22th Thanks for your comment, I really love it and am not worried at all anymore. The bike doesnt want to fold open out of itself, it "wants" to stay closed so this small lever is certainly enough. I've reached a max speed of 44 kmph ;)

People will still buy them even though they are illegal in the UK because when have you ever heard of police clamping down on people using them. They are after real criminals. As long as you are not going crazy with the speed and making the police notice you then I wouldn't bother whether it was illegal or not. The only downside is if you have a crash and police are called. Then you should worry.
I think you should look at other bike reviews that actually show the regen working and how it can actually get you home using it strategically 🙂… otherwise great review
We purchased this Vivi 27.5” electric bike and a Tentaquil 26” electric bike for our 13 and 14 year olds. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxUiL0GnyDjP32RJdd660sP8mZk4CRLTCJ The Vivi was much easier to put together. With the Vivi, there was a video link to assist with assembly which made the process easier to follow (we did put the handlebars on upside down, but it was a quick and easy fix). With the Tentaquil, the assembly was not as simple to follow, but after we messaged the company for an assembly video, it was easier and they did respond quickly. The other major differences were that the Vivi has a grip throttle on the right handle (like a motorcycle) and the Tentaquil has a push throttle that you use your thumb to activate. The monitors were also different, so if you’re looking for something specific in terms of changing the bikes functions, pay attention to what the monitor offers. We were really impressed with the overall quality and functionality of both bikes, but if you’re looking for more power and an easier assembly, definitely go with the Vivi!

The speed limiter doesn't seem to work on this updated version. Even if I set Max speed to 22 km/h it goes over 30 km/h easily and keeps on assisting even in Eco mode! Is there any chance to make it correctly limit max speed? Also is it possible to disable the throttle (like in EP2) without disconnecting it? I hope somebody has a solution...

Whats it like on road hills i think thats the most important question people want to know
which is better between engwe and vitilan i7 pro?
Got an ep2 pro, changed to Bmx handles..perfection
Yeah, many of us did. 100% better..
has the throttle issue been sorted on the newer ones? that is when pedaling the watts don't go to full as seen in some other older reviews
Can you compare it with PVY Z20 PLUS? Actually I want to know which one should I buy between PVY Z20 PLUS and Engwe ENGINE PRO?
The engwe engine X is surely the best of all worlds for the UK. At least that's technically legal for the road but with the same motor
It can be unrestricted to 750W?
@@dtz1000 yes, it will go upto 1000w if you are on private land . have a look at techtronic9000 review
The engine X is not as good spec as the pro brakes not hydraulic etc pro is far better value
Switch the hydraulic pipes over, most times you don’t need to bleed afterwards (if your careful)
One more thing… you can switch from sport to eco if you want
Will they be offered for sale with type approval for the throttle? So they can be used legally on UK roads.
Investigate Engwe Engine X which is kind of decontented for EU regulations.
Just cut the throttle off. No one ever knows it had one, and they cant measure the Watts of the batteries quick yet for controlling on the roads
