I started making Kimbap a year ago. It's like Norimaki(I'm Japanese) yet a totally different food and I love them. Your version of small Kimbap is perfect for a small party or an appetizer. Thank you for posting. And this is a vegan good.
Just made this tonight as practice for a staff luncheon next week - it came out great! I love your channel and will definitely make more recipes using your videos. Thanks!
I made Mayak Gimbab this morning for my breakfast. I watched your video while making it. It taste so gooood! I dont have pickled radish so I substitute with sugary mango and it taste really really good! Thank you!
Definitely going to try to make this. The funny thing about kimbap is how I always think of what you have said about danmuji before. How it is the heart of the kimbap. Sometimes I remember those tiny little things. So whenever I make kimbap, I must always have this ingredient. Love your vids as always :)
Subscribedddd!!! Just found you on facebook and fell in love with your chanel. Can you please make a video on a potato salad side dish? I always get it whenever I eat at Korean restaurant and really want to learn how to make it myself, and the fish cakes side dish tooo.
I have been buying a Jasmin rice for so many years, yet I never made Kimbab with Jasmin rice which is far less stickier than Korean rice. Of course, using sticky rice comes in handy when it comes making Kimbab rather than using Jasmin rice. I am little bit skeptical using Jasmin rice, but I wondered if you ever made Kimbab with Jasmin rice before? If so, how did it turn out? This drug Kimbab is definitely addictive!!! J
I remembered eating this at gwang ja market soul. Although I am full from the previous meal, I could not stop myself from continuing eating it after trying one. 🤤🤤🤤
I love eating kimbap! and yes like you said it's very addicting, when my first time trying it, I just want to eat more and more cause it taste so good!
its really funny to turn on english subtitles for example 3:58 : "the trinity shit to see police can that be good at it but yummy me I have sauce oh yeah" :p
sooooooooDark Really? Mine's not showing that, it's showing exactly what she said. Since your comment UA-cam must have improved their speech recognition :)
I always make this for our staff meetings. My bosses come all the way from Korea to Hawaii to visit us so its nice to make them something from Home. Now every month they look forward to me making them dishes. Our last staff meeting I made this, pajeon, japchae, and dalkkalbi. They spoil me so I spoil them with my cooking.
jasmineflores14 I don't recommend it because it has spinach and sesame oil- they make food goes bad faster than normal. Make it in the morning will be better for lunch. :-)
Hi, I went to the market nnlok for rice vinegar but they have 3 different kinds. One is for season, one for dressing and another is diluted. So which one should I get. Thanks a lot for helping.
Yumm this seems so incredibly delicious, it's like sushi without the fish! Yumm :) I feel like my mom would like this because she is vegetarian. Thank you so much for uploading this, I hope me and mom can make this in the future!
the problem is, charlie e, that oyster sauce is generally used for seasoning sauces (a bit like a soy sauce) and sesame oil for adding an oily texture with a light nuttiness. Completely coating the outsides of this with soy sauce or oyster sauce would make the nori soggy and fall apart, not to mention extremely overwhealmingly salty or fishy in taste! Sometimes substitutes sound appealing but lots of the time the ingredients don't interact with the others in the same way to make food that is edible. It's a bit like saying 'hey i dont have any ice cubes at home, can I use cubed frozen spinach instead?' Not too ideal.
Charlie e didnt even read through all of this because you are obviously mistaken. i am a 21 year old young lady who happens to be typing english on a german keyboard on my phone, meaning my capitalization might be off and i am typing a bit like i would with friends and not in an essay. the person i meant agreed with me is the maker of this video. if you see above your comment, she tells the original commenter that she should NOT sub sesame oil with oyster sauce. don't lecture me or assume things or you'll make an ass out of yourself. i trained with cooks at the internship school here in germany and my sister is in the process of becoming a cook at the same school. oyster sauce isnt used in that way for gimbap because of what i stated above. and interact is an appropriate word, pick up a thesaurus.
It's definitely best with sesame oil so try to get it. If you absolutely can't get it, use rice vinegar, sugar and salt or premade sushi seasoning which is Japanese style not Korean but it will still taste great with this filling.
Awwe the kimbap looks so cute and yummy!! I've been craving kimbap for a longgg time 0.0 ~ When I was in middle school, I had a korean friend who had one parent from north and the other from south korea, which I thought was really cool XD. Anyways, her mom always packed her lunch and whenever she packed her kimbap, my friend said she got sick of it sometimes so we would switch lunches and she would have mine which sometimes was hispanic food since I'm hispanic. And she would love my mom's food and I loved her moms food. 😂😄 it was really funny, I loved her mom's kimbap, she added gaenip (perilla leaves) and I think bracken root? It was a brown one. It was really good. It brings back lots of memories! 😢😂 maybe I'll have bibimbap today!! ^.^
Britney Cifuentes hahaha that's a funny story! I think hispanic foods are perfect fit with Korean's taste buds! I, myself too love hispanic foods- lucky me to have my lovely hispanic friends who taught and showed me how their foods prepared. :-)
lexi I know this comment is so late but I would pickle the radish yourself!! It's extremely easy to do and there's some simple recipes online! I mean I guess you can use other vegetables like cucumbers instead of the pickled radish but it's honestly a must when it comes to kimbap!!
u r releasing too much of the forbidden secret recipes of many killer K-street foods. u don't want the K-street foods sellers go bankrupt, do u?. (kidding....) i myself desprerately needed this recipe too. Thanks!

Definitely going to try to make this. The funny thing about kimbap is how I always think of what you have said about danmuji before. How it is the heart of the kimbap. Sometimes I remember those tiny little things. So whenever I make kimbap, I must always have this ingredient. Love your vids as always :)
heopie That's true though! Without danmuji, it's not kimbap. You are totally rocking your kimbap!!
This is awesome! I will definitely be serving this at my next event.
I moved to Korea recently and will have thanksgiving potluck with my fellow teachers for chuseok. I will make this!
This was a HIT last at my dinner party. Super recipe and easy. Will be checking out more of your vegan food. Thanks :)

Lately I've been craving kimbap, but I'm too lazy to make normal kimbap. I gotta make some mini kimbap instead :)
Patrick Yan I totally understand! Sometimes I get lazy making kimbap too, so when I just want a little bit, I make this quick mini ones! ;-)
Can I use brown rice or sticky rice?
you'll be better off using sticky rice since brown rice isn't sticky and won't hold together :)
떡복기국물(소스?)에 직어먹으면 짱맛있는대...
성거상 맞아요~ 콕! 찍어서~ ^___^

Is she thailand or philipine or korean? Anybody know
I'm sooo hungry!!!
can we use oyster sauce instead of sesame oil

I love mini kimbap!
Awwe the kimbap looks so cute and yummy!! i can't find pickled radish, can you suggest another ingredients?
lexi cornichons or the French pickled tiny cucumber.
Bérénice Morieras That's not even sort of close to the same flavor...please don't do that!
lexi I suggest you go to an Asian market or even pickle it yourself
lexi I know this comment is so late but I would pickle the radish yourself!! It's extremely easy to do and there's some simple recipes online! I mean I guess you can use other vegetables like cucumbers instead of the pickled radish but it's honestly a must when it comes to kimbap!!
Go to H Mart to buy yellow pickeld raddish
I don't have sesame oil in my kitchen, would soy sauce work better?
its different...and taste different...
sesame oil is ideal but i think you can substitute virgin olive oil or any oil with a distictive flavor, you will get a different taste for sure tho
thank you !
Saw drug kimbap and got curious turns out to be different than expected 😳
