In the spring of 2008, I was in 6th grade, and built my first computer. My Geforce 8800 GS came with a download of the first 10 levels of Portal, and two multiplayer Half-Life titles. I had grown up playing Battle For Bikini Bottom and Fifa on a PS2. Portal ripped my concept of what a game could be wide open. I discovered this song right around that time, as with that computer I became an early UA-cam addict. Very few things can take me back to that headspace of wonder at the world that I had for the first few years on that computer, but this song is surely one of them.
I miss when Portal was the talk of the world instead of Minecraft, Roblox, Among us or Fortnite. It took us on an adventure. Coming back to this makes me sad and it takes me down memory lane. I miss it so much. :(

This song just perfectly encapsulates all the feelings of Aperture collapsing. The fear, adrenaline, and guilt, as the entire time, you're fighting Glados(forgot what letters were capitalized.) and hearing the sounds of her pain.

I first heard this in a red stone computer video. The specs were insane, and proved to my child brain that it was possible for a human to build a computer start to finish and they weren’t full of magic pixie dust. They were full of math, and I love math. Fast forward 14 years and I’ve learned so much about computers that I feel confident working on any LVCS and even some HVCS, I’m fluent in MEMS and speak more dead programming languages than most people speak real world. All in about 10 years. I post this so that if someone finds this they can know the true power of a decade.
