Case IH has made quite an improvement on the original model. I drove an orange one (Allis Chalmers) in the 80’s and you had to wear ear protection. I have two Ertl tractors, a green one and an orange one. I think the only difference is the tool box on the fender.
@@joegotz1971 Caseih went backwards on the Steiger, it use to be the King of the 4wd market. An Allis Chalmers 440 was last built in 74 or 75 and was just a Steiger bearcat with a Cummins 555 engine and painted orange
@@RJ1999x True! I wish Steiger was still around today (Not bought by Case IH). I have 2 AC-440's and you are correct, they are just a Steiger Bearcat with red paint and a Cummings 555. Nothing wrong with that tho.
@@joegotz1971 Its awesome that you drove an AC-440 back in the day! I do agree that those Cummings 555's were really loud motors. I have two AC-440's and will be uploading videos in the upcoming days. I hope they will give you a nostalgic feeling!
Steiger set the standard, - and all the others had to play "Catch-Up". - - - QUESTION, - Was it the tractor or the engine that made it a Legend. - At least Case IH haven't 'killed' the Name completely like some manufacturers do when they 'buy out' a make.
I would think the Tiger 3 or 4 because those used the amazing KTA-1150 engine from Cummings which was a whopping 19 Liter engine with 525 hp and like 1,600 foot pounds of torque. I don't think Case IH killed the name but they did rebrand a few by painting them red and calling them the 9190. I am not 100% sure if this is the tractor that you are thinking of because the Panther PTA 325 with the Cat 3406B was also a very amazing and well loved tractor as well.
@@TheSteigerChannel I agree with you completely about the other Steigers they were all 'awesome' in their own way. I think you missed my point, I was just trying to say that all the other makes didn't really have anything to compare to it when it first came out, and they had to produce something fast. - At least Case didn't "Kill" the name off completely when they acquired them, like at least one other maker that I won't mention. - Am I correct in saying that the 'present' Case Steiger is the wheeled version of the 'Quadtrack'.
@@christopherlovelock9104 Yea I wasn't sure what your question was but from what I remember reading was when Case bought out Steiger they didn't intend to keep the Steiger name but when customers where disappointed they put the name back on them. You would be technically correct when saying the new wheeled Case tractors are Steiger's because they are marketed that way but I kinda don't consider them a real Steiger. And yes the present Steiger is the wheeled version of the quad track. They are basically the same just slight differences between he tracks and wheeled versions.
@@TheSteigerChannel - The only shame I think is that they don't paint them in the Steiger colour. - Which a lot of the 'Big' tractor companies will do. - For example if you order certain MF's they are simply a New Holland painted RED. Over here in England, (and Europe as well), we simply call it "Badge Engineering". OK, we all know that it's not a 'True' MF, but if the farmer has been an MF man all his life, then to keep him happy and also NOT lose a sale, the price of the paint needed isn't any different, so what's the harm - none. Case could still put their 'Badge' on it as well as Steiger.
Yes it does. From what I remember the old 3306 cat leaked water into the oil so we pulled the motor and got this motor out of a truck and slapped it in there.
Lol I wish we had a 30 ft. It would be very interesting to see it pull a 30. Yea the tractor didn't really struggle much pulling this disk in this field. Could go bigger.
I toured the steiger plant in fargo ND on a 4-H trip in the 70's, when it was a brand new facility. That's something I'll never forget
I love steiger tractors they are awesome 😎
As a kid it was always fun to spot one of these in N. Texas
The right green, is light green.!

What transmission does the Bearcat have?
I am pretty sure it is a Dana-Spicer 1010-2A
