    Nas is EASILY the best to ever do it. This is coming from a dude who's seen all the great eras of hip hop and a certified born and bred hip hop head. When you factor in creativity, skills, lyricism, classic albums and songs, career accomplishments (artistically), and overall status, Nas is undoubtedly the best MC to bless a mic. All due respect to the others that merit consideration.

    • @Israel-nb7ip
      @Israel-nb7ip 4 роки тому +11

      @J Crash Rakim is in my top 3 for sure. But he just doesn't have Nas' longevity. But Ra changed the game forever and is probably the biggest reason we had a hip hop golden age that ran from '87-'97.

      well you're forgetting quite a few names
      dont get me wrong, I absolutely love Nas, but honestly, calling him the best feels off when there are atleast a few names who tie him that are just as timeless:
      Prodigy
      MF DOOM
      Biggie (If you forget the era of rap he's attached to for a moment and just listen to how he sounds on a good bunch of his lesser known stuff, you'd agree with me on this one)
      Guru, or Gang Starr as a whole
      As much as I hate to admit it, Eminem's old stuff sounds modern.
      I could go on and on really

    • @Israel-nb7ip
      @Israel-nb7ip 2 роки тому +5

      @@FalB27 I can safely say Nas is the best from everything and everyone I've heard. And I love MF Doom (underground rap GOAT IMO). I think Biggie is bar for bar the most talented and complete MC in rap history but the reason I put Nas ahead is because of his range of topics. That said, I think Biggie was on his way towards making more music of substance as he matured and def could've been ahead of Nas.

    J has never done anything original and that's just facts, started off using Jaz O style then jumped on Nas/ Big L/ Kool G's swag from 95. Now he trying to rap like Tweli and Common used to. He's dope but he's always been a trend hopper not a real leader and innovator.

      I've been saying this & people still sleep on this. What I don't like is that Jay tries to act like he came up with it all & all his stans think he did too. Nas is a true student of the game & learned from & always humbly paid homage to his pears Rakim, Kool G Rap, Slick Rick, KRS plus he never stole flows & styles & always stayed true to himself. Hate to even mention this name amongst greats But Drake has been doing the exact same as Jay & his stans call him goat too. Both very un-original & very much trend hoppers that loose a lot of respect from me when it comes to talking about the best or top tier rappers/emcees.

    I always wondered what the "difficult test" on the stillmatic cover was. Someone should ask Nas about that? I wonder if it was just a line or there was really some "hidden message" there.Cuz there is like a pigeon next to him. Its kind of an interesting cover.

      An interviewer asked Nas about the pigeon next to him on the cover and I've copied what Nas said below -
      I just love birds. It’s funny how I love birds. The way they see the world is like, not even dealing with the bullshit we dealing with. We deal with money and cars and smog and pollution and drugs. You know, walking the streets. It’s like being in the water for fish. The difference between them and fish, being in the sky they can fly and look at the world without dealing with our bullshit. Matter of fact they shit on us. So the way they look at things, I really admire them. It represents life also. On the 'Stillmatic' album cover I needed some life-a plant, a tree.
      The skys probably looking dark as it's NYC post 9/11
