Thank you Robbie! This is one of the best and most straightforward gear demos I've ever seen. For those of you who don't know Robbie also has several EXCELLENT online courses.
Your demo got me to buy one from a pro guitarplayer this week. He upgraded it with another, tonally better matching humbucker and it just blew me away. If i ever get to play like you do that would be the day! Cheers, JP
Thanks Robbie appreciate you doing this video. I own a 1998 Yamaha Pacifica 112 M the old school logo. It's my most played guitar, quality build and stays in tune! This new 612 model is just sexy!!!!! Love the tones you're getting. 👍😊💙🎸
Thank you Rich, the new Pacificas feel so much better than the older models...much as they were excellent too...take one for a spin if you get the chance.
You’ve got that natural AOR playing style, and that’s pretty much what sold me on this guitar. Absolutely awesome intro and playing. I primarily want it to play some melodic rock in the vibe of XYZ, kingdom come, etc. Sounds exactly how I want
@@robbiecalvoguitar yes it sounded glorious and i kept going back to watch... plus it had (arguably) the best shade of blue too. so, it was a visual reference for me as well. there were many that were more green than blue but i managed to find one pretty close in colour!
This is the best Super Strat guitar on the market in my opinion, you get everything and the price is right. this is better than Fender in my opinion. What a beautiful Guitar, mines in Root-beer red 😝
Spot on comment. I bought one too in 2019. Mine is the sibling of this with the FM top finished in Translucent Black which like this Indigo Blue, is NLA. So very glad I bought when I did.
Great demo here Robbie. Looking for a HSS that covers Westcoast, Yacht Rock, Jazz and Fusion styles without breaking the bank. I think you've sold me on this guitar..👍🏽
Thanks. I see your heart is open to this Yamaha guitar. I am seeking for guitar like this. I checked Yamaha 612 with Mexican Fender ($800-900) Yamaha is the best one.
Hi Robbie, My guitar arrived yesterday. When I inspected it I was impressed except for the tremolo arm. It would not allow me to pull up and you need to be a body builder to push it down. I see in your video that you set it as a floating trem so I decided to take the bride cover off and have a look. he first thing I did was to remove the centre spring, I can now use the trem with less effort, I then adjusted the claw screws to bring up the bridge and great I can now use th trem up and down, My only beef now is the trem just flops about and wont stay where I want it. I noticed in your video your is doing the same thing. I have now improved mine by wrapping electrical tape around the bar and this has helped but still not to my satisfaction. Do you have any suggestions about this tremolo arm Best Regards Ro Jenkins PS I think you are a great guitarist
i just got one brand new last night, same colour! Have not been able to set it up floating yet. but on the reviews from yamaha, (and perhaps in the manual ) it said there is a set screw to adjust the tension of the bar in order to keep it where you want.
The trem arm actually has a set screw in the back of the bridge on the underside. You can adjust the tension on the trem arm with the set screw to keep it from flopping around.
Interesting comment about the neck feeling more substantial. That is the one thing stopping me pulling the trigger on a 612, I love my 312 but the neck is like a tooth pick
My reference point for the thinner neck feel was on the older Pacifica models. I'm wondering if this was updated and a new neck profile is on all current models. I also thought the old profile was too small...this one is perfect for me.
@@robbiecalvoguitar I went into the London Yamaha showroom at the weekend and tried the new 612 in Matte blue. I agree with you Robbie, the neck is definitely thicker. It felt way more like a Fender C to me, there was much more space for open chords down at the lower Frets.
I recently bought one of those, and ended up selling my Fender strat because I liked the Pacifica much, much better. Beautiful playing, as always ! Any tips for keeping the trem from sticking?
Thank you for such a kind message,. I will be launching a subscription based website in the next couple of weeks. Please subscribe to this channel, click the bell for notifications and those updates will be on here when I launch.
@@robbiecalvoguitar That would be great. 👍🏼 I watched nearly every educational video of you here on UA-cam. Also, currently I’m going through you’re amazing course “Guitar Interactive” on Truefire. You’re explaining the principles so well but I’d have still some questions regarding the music theory. Therefore I’d really looking forward for a subscription based channel or even private lessons! Btw, I’m using your phenomenal articles from The Calvo Report as a complementary resource for the course.
Hi, I don't personally but I know guys that use Helix to control their whole amp setups. Channel switching, effects (pre and post). I use Helix as a stand alone rig...and I love it!
Gorgeous opening solo.
Thank you!
Killer playing, just such a sweet solo. Thanks for sharing.
Love the tone. Excellent phrasing and note selection Robbie. Love hearing you play.
What an amazing compliment, thank you Frank.

Robbie.... you know how to demo a product and put an instrument through its paces! Love the O.D tones
Thank you Steve, such a kind compliment...rock on.
Robbie always has killer tone and the best phrasing in the business!
Thank you Steve, you are too kind.
Thanks for playing clean. Few understand many of us lean that direction.
Thank you Jon, I'm glad the demo worked for you. It's hard to create a video review that covers everyone's preferences...and keep them concise...
Robbie your intro is beautiful and emotionally moving. Excellent demo of the guitar too.
Hi John, that's very kind, thank you!
Love it and have it as my 1st electric guitar. Gonna get better!
Excellent demo, I like when same phrase is used to show all different tones.
Fantastic tones and beautiful guitar
Thank you George.
Robbie, you are one of the best. Love your instructional videos.
Thank you Chip, some rally cool new stuff coming up very soon...stay tuned and subscribed for updates.

Hello, may I ask which humbucker is it that match better tonally?
Nice demo and awesome guitar...would like to have one.
Thank you so much!

Extraordinary intro solo, my God! 😍
Lovely playing. You sold me on this guitar after that initial namm demo video back in 2018 and I grabbed one immediately
Wow, thank you for letting me know...so glad you were inspired to make that purchase.

Well played. No freak show. Just lets the guitar sounds great.
Nice, Robbie! Jeez I think it's been nearly 20 years since I last saw yer...
Sweet, love the finish of that yamaha!! Awesome. 🙌🏻🎸💯
Great tone! Very nice phrasing! Thanks for the video.
Thank you so much!
so good your play...
This was an amazing review thank you!
I own this model and style, and I didn't know I could set the Wilkinson tremolo to "floating". Thought it was only one way (down).
Wonderful playing
Thank you

I couldn't agree more. When Yamaha released this guitar as a limited edition I knew it would become a very sought after instrument.

But Yamaha is almost twice than the regular mexican Fender.
i wish i could have this
Beautiful solo and guitar! i wish yamaha would make the neck heel pocket contoured to easily access the higher frets.
Thank you!
Great, Robbie, nice playing! Which is the amplifier do you use in this case, please?
I think he says at the beginning of the video that he recorded through a Line 6 Helix straight into a DAW (Logic)
I didn’t know Crocodile Hunter played guitar. Your solo was ‘a ripper!’

Idk the Yamaha website lists all Pacifica necks with the same dimensions, maybe the extra substance is due to wood quality

Hi Robbie, the guitar just sounds awesome. Can you please give me the data from your setup? Amp, pedals etc. thx stay save
Thank you! All amp and effects sounds were recorded direct using Line 6 Helix.
¿Alguien sabe si el solo del inicio es una canción?
Can you suggest premium amp for home user.
nice review . good for metal ?
Thank You! The Humbucker is definitely great for rock ,I'd imagine driving it harder would sound just as good.
What is the neck shape like? Bigger shoulders like fender 60's shape or more rounded towards the 50's shape? tnx
Thank you for this very touching tune!

Wish there was no reverb and delay

Fuckin lush tones mahn!!
Overtones are insane...and I don't mean about the modulation in the background.
Ya me vi el intro como unas 125 veces 😅
The nut width is 41mm, did it seem small?
Hi Jared, No, I'd say it feels comfortable and the right width for the guitar and neck dimensions.
🎼🎵
Sounds like a stereo setup with chorus and delay.
no 25 boost, no tbx, no neck+bridge pickup as single coils, no pure bypass, no good neck joint
except that it's a good guitar
a single coil for a neck pickup is not perfect for every situations : jazz, no hum desire, PAF lead tone, big blues etc.
a lack of brightness in the sound vs a strat
Sweet playing, but I bet it doeasn't matter what guitar you use too much.
That's very kind Jon, Thank you.
Specs good, parts good, color good, tone good, yet pick guard horrible.
Yeah, it’s different just for the sake of being different, but at least it’s less noticeable on a darker color like this.
