  • In this video we take a look at Go Fast Bits Repons TMS blow off valve for all Hyundai/Kia 1.6T engines. This is replacing the stock BPV which has a rubber flap and tends to leak over time/under load. Huge thanks to GFB for sending this valve out for me to install and show you guys!

    Installed mine in my i30 nline premium about a week ago. Removed the factory valve from the top relatively easily, but tightening the hex bolts on the GFB was a PITA. Ended up removing the large diameter horizontal TB hose which made things easy. Adjusting isnt that easy when the cap is slick. Took a fair amount of skin off the knuckles doing it.
    Great channel Justin

      If you are hearing flutter chances are the valve is not opening properly and the noise is coming from the air being forced back into the turbo. I would make sure the spring isnt too tight and everything is working correctly.

      Sort of. Its a recirculation valve which vents back into the intake system. I consider BOV to be venting to atmosphere so you actually hear it. You can sort of hear the stock one but its not meant to be heard.

    Justin would you recommend this mod if the goal was better throttle response? I don't care about the noise so I would probably go for the Mach 2 rather than the Response. GFB claims 30% quicker boost and better throttle response but that is for the fully recirculating version which I don't know if you've run yours fully recirculating but would you agree with their claims? At $240 I want to know if it's worth the investment.

    • @JustinKelly
      @JustinKelly  4 роки тому

      I dont think you'll get 30% better throttle response out of this part unless your stock BPV was failing. Maybe its a little better but I didn't notice anything throttle wise that I can recall but my car is pretty new.

    • @VanillaWahlberg
      @VanillaWahlberg 3 роки тому

      If you're under the impression fully recirculating will improve throttle response, keep the stock valve. It already fully recirculates back into the intake. This would be a pointless upgrade.

    • @JustinKelly
      @JustinKelly  3 роки тому

      @@VanillaWahlberg The stock valve is rubber and can leak or fail over time. It would still be an upgrade even if its doing the same function.

    • @VanillaWahlberg
      @VanillaWahlberg 3 роки тому

      @@JustinKelly Very true. Although if not needed and still under warranty, can give them a reason to deny claims. Since they cause so many CELs on the Elantra Sport I won't be getting one until I get closer to the end of my warranty. They do no damage, but a CEL is the last thing I want to deal with in CA. :P

    • @JustinKelly

      It's the intake that gonna cause the turbo to flutter.

    • @readyplayer5661
      @readyplayer5661 8 місяців тому

      Flutter is the result of not having any blow off valve. You would delete the blow off valve all together at both ends (pre and post turbo). It's then enhanced by changing the intake pipe to a metal type.

      I believe blow off valves are used to adjust how much boost the turbo makes before it vents. Different internal BOV springs have different stiffness which affects how much boost builds before it vents. It can certainly increase power but you REALLY want your car tuned to the boost level. Most people install a BOV because it sounds really cool.

      @theflukey4114 4 роки тому +4

      No. I work at a hyundai dealership as a service tech and we typically don't care about mods as long as you don't open up the engine or overwrite the factory tune. Chip tuning is fine, since it isn't permanent. As long as the mods don't cause any parts to fail, you'll keep the warranty. It just depends on the dealer, some are mod friendly and some aren't.

    • @theflukey4114
      @theflukey4114 4 роки тому +3

      They have to prove the mod you installed caused a certain part to fail. You could install a CAI and maybe MAF fails or the turbo starts having issues, they have to prove the mod you installed caused those to fail tho. And a CAI is easy to install and remove. Just swap it for the factory one when you bring the car in for service.

Rediculous for something obvious. Too much info im reading so far regarding if bov's deteriorate turbos, I don't know what to believe. I posted videos (on this account) yesterday on the bov spring adjustments from stock to 3 turns tight and saw not much difference.
