I had hoped to visit the British Museum to see the Lewis Chess pieces before this video was due to be released, but I hadn't expected lock down's 2 and 3 when they happened so was caught out time wise. Whilst it's nice to have such an amazing museum on my doorstep, the ethics behind what's housed in there makes me very torn. What are your thoughts? Do you think the Lewis Chess Set (or anything else for that matter) should be housed in the country where they originated or is the British Museum okay?
Wow the Island is beautiful and u don’t realise what we can se and visit in the UK that’s not that far away on our doorstep thank you so much for sharing your experience. Chris Birmingham UK
Hi Chris, couldn't agree more. I knew about a few very pretty places, but the pandemic made me research the UK a lot more and there were so many more places I'd never heard of before and they're so pretty!
Thank you Gabriel 🙌 I'd highly recommend Harris and Lewis. We were very lucky with the weather on this day though - we had a lot of overcast days and rainy days on our 2 week trip. But if you can stomach the weather, you should love it up there.
Sorry guys, just 2 more videos to go on Scotland (Whiskey one and an itinerary summary) but only for the 2020 trip. We'd planned to visit St. Kilda as part of the holiday. The trip was booked, but the company had to cancel as the National Trust hadn't got the island Covid secure by the time our trip was due to leave. A visit to St. Kilda is still very high on my bucket list of places to visit so I expect to be back at some point in the not too distant future and will vlog the experience again!
I've been to the Outer Hebrides in 2019, it's one of my favorite places where I've been to in Scotland. Back in the olden day's the island's of the Outer Hebrides were safe havens for Scottish pirate's like my clan. I think treasures and monuments should be in museum's where they originally came from
That's so cool that you know this about your clan. I know so little about my own family history! I'm 100% with you on the feeling that treasures should be in local museums, not shipped 100's of miles elsewhere.
Totally agree, this nature is stunning. Though I have to confess, my city is London and we definitely don't have beautiful nature on this scale there. Scotland on the other hand... just stunning! ❤️
I would like to know, if it’s possible to get around the Isle of Lewis by bus. Do they have (public) bus services and do they run regularly and frequently? I would appreciate a reply 🙏
Hi Khalini. We didn't use a bus as we drove our own car over there, but there certainly are buses on the island, and I know none run on a Sunday as just about everything on a Sunday closes for church. I've found this website with bus timetables so it looks like it depends on where you're trying to get to with regards to how frequent they are. I hope it's helpful :) www.cne-siar.gov.uk/roads-travel-and-parking/public-transport/bus-services/lewis-bus-timetables/
I had to listen back to it, but I say 'I've also successfully summited Ben Nevis too', but I think there were a few too many S's for me to get out and it did sound a bit of a mess I'll agree 🤣

If the lewis chess pieces should be displayed in the country of origin they would be in norway
That's a fantastic looking place.

The Outer Hebrides have gorgeous beaches - and both the best and worst weather we had all trip! You guys will have to make it out there at some point!

About museum pieces. I think items should be displayed in the area they had the most impact and influence. It means more to communities and people.❤❤
I want come your city, nice video beautiful this nature.🙏

What does she say at 0:18 as I can't make it out, something about successful.

The Isle of Lewis - the island where president Trumps mother Mary Ann McLeod was born and grew up
Ooooh I had no idea about this - thank you for sharing!
