I think I agree with the list. 110% agree with the top five. But the more I play solo and the more you went through the list it's just so obvious the designers intend for us to play multiplayer. For true solo though, this list is spot on imo. As much as I love Hawkeye lol. Dude just can't get it done in solo.
He’s so much fun! But sooo sad when he doesn’t have friends! The game is a fuller experience with more players and more of a challenge with one hero. It’s one of the things I love about the game - really can make it whatever you want it to be!
You may just need to modernize your Hawkeye builds. His SHIELD builds in J or L and his L builds with Mighty Avengers are undefeated against Ronan and VG for me.

As a relatively new player with only around 50 plays under my belt, hearing your quick thoughts on each hero is super helpful in deciding which ones I may want to try next. Appreciate all your great content Nelson!
Poor Rogue, I really think she's very good. Superpower Adaptation has so many great uses in solo play, it's arguably more important in solo than in multiplayer in my opinion. Where you need to be versatile and cover everything alone, she can reach into her discard pile and find any solution she needs if you build for it. Deft, X-Gene, and Weapon X are three amazing ways to generate resources with 1-cost cards for her, and the Mutant and X-Men traits in general open up a lot of powerful plays before you even start to dabble in other tribals. Great list though! We have a lot of similar placements in our lists, if some notable differences - though I think some of those are because mine also factors in multiplayer.
They can always make a Professor X hero pack to surpass Doctor Strange in power with his ultimate signature card "Stop Hitting Yourself!" He can have three copies.
Something I’ve noticed with Quicksilver is that exhaust, stun, confuse, and retaliate can all ruin his day (more so than other characters), particularly if you’re relying on his activations and stats to thwart and do damage (which seems like the most natural way to play him).
I only made it to Valk but obviously this entire Tier List is wrong. You're wrong about everything, how could you ever do this!!! Haha. I still have to watch this the only thing that catches my eye of interesting, from skipping to the end and looking at the list (and I will have to watch for your explanation) is Spectrum being higher than the floor. Ghost Spider, Ms. Marvel and Wolverine in the "mid" tier. Cap seeming low and of course, Groot and Valk at the bottom when I think you meant to put them in S. But will watch for sure, keep up the good work man!
It has nothing to do with the topic of your video, but while listening to you I've finally beat Ultron expert with doomsday chair with Aggression Hulka. I think I was at 40+ losses. On the end going for the face made it. Probably a small feat but I'm so happy and relieved that I accomplished it. And great videos btw!
Excited to see how you rate vision, his protection deck let's you load up on android allies and pull one every turn with 616 hickory. Gives you an ally for any situation on demand ❤
Personally I feel Widow is easily capable of being at least a B. She's got the ability to set up incredibly well, plus she can handle a large majority of villains easily. Definitely over Rocket & Wasp, both of those have really flimsy kits compared to her.
I can see that! I think Rocket has a better kit than Black Widow personally but totally see the swap for Wasp and Widow One quick point, I haven’t done a deep dive review on Wasp yet, so she could very well get moved when we get to her!
I feel like Black Widow plays best with 2 or 3 players, over true solo. But I can see it, and I do need to play her more. Wasp, IMO is okay, and can see how quickly she can fall apart.
@@ramonosuke Wasp has got a nice boost with Professor X and being able to recur him! She is one that I have not reviewed yet, so that rating may change!
I think Cap needs to be S tier. He has 2/2/2 stats, built in cost reduction/resource generation depending on form, card draw, AND self-readying. And he can play any aspect. Combine the fact that he can deal multiple target or single target burst damage and there is literally nothing he can’t be built for. Lastly, you said that one of the things that lower-tier heroes lack is THW. For any 1 resource, Cap by himself thwarts for 4. If that doesn’t qualify for S-tier I don’t know what does based on your analysis.
I think Spectrum is a great hero with decks that allow her to flip to alter-ego regularly. This allows her to change forms regularly to manage the board well. She also works great in Protection with decks that allow her to ready regularly.
Relatively speaking, in terms of how you rank the heroes 1-40x i think you are about right, with some minor differences I make in mine (and a few of the build heroes are low due to solo). I just really feel like there needs to another tier, because the top half of B tier really are stronger than what I consider "B tier power level" in an absolute sense. They've gotten really good in the last while at making very strong A tier heroes, it crowds the tier. So while i agree with the positioning in terms of ranking of heroes like Wolverine, Gambit, Gamora, and such, I really really don't agree with them being "B tier" While its a relative list, the letters "B" and "C" also have connotations in regards to there absolute power level.
I can see that and think it’s a totally valid point! The more I thought about it the more I think it gets weird having all the heroes over that “C” tier I think there’s a lot of value in the relative ranking I could have probably used different naming for the categories
Agree with just about all your placements, with minor adjustments. My only disagreement is with one, Dr. Strange, he is in a whole tier on his own. In solo, he can pretty much take on any Expert villain with no problem, but could potentially get rushed down with high threat generator like Red Skull. In two players, with someone helping him get going, there is no villain that stands a chance. He is the only hero I do not like to see at the table.
As someone who plays Wolverine a lot, I can't imagine him being lower than A tier. I get where you're coming from, but if his deck is built well, he's great. Domino I feel like is S tier, but I have to play her in solo more. I really don't think She-Hulk belongs in the C tier, considering half of her cards are horrible. I also don't know how I feel about Miles being in S tier. He relies heavily on the villain not being stalwart. On the other hand, when the villain is not, he's amazing. Obviously this is just my take, I'm not saying you're wrong. Pretty good list overall, I agree with the vast majority of the placement for solo. A lot of the heroes, even higher tier ones are usually a lot better in multiplayer.
Yea I get that, I was limiting S and D tier to 5 heroes and some heroes just missed that cutoff (on either side) Domino is so amazingly powerful, but we have some crazy strong heroes in the game and feel like she’s up there with the best of them! Miles takes a hit against Stalwart villains, but we don’t have a ton of those and even when he’s facing them down, his cards are still absurd from a value perspective Thanks for the thoughts!!
I think you might have overcorrected on Wolverine (though I agree he isn’t a Top 5 hero in the game). I’d take him over SP//DR and Storm for instance. SP//DR has a high ceiling but her floor is pretty miserable. Wolverine is just overall more consistent. I don’t really like Storm too much. At low player counts/solo she feels clunky owing to her high cost curve and in higher player counts she almost seems to force other players to build around her. Cyclops is such an odd hero. Evaluated based solely on his own kit, he’s probably pretty mid but his deck building ability elevates him radically. Even so, I think he might be a little high. I’d push him behind Ironheart, Captain Marvel, Captain America and Ant Man personally. Anyway, it’s a good list and I appreciate your content! For the most part, I agree with the general spaces that each hero occupies even the above examples would only shift things slightly. Except Ghost Spider and Mrs Marvel. Mrs Marvel’s Top 10 for me. Her Justice & Aggression builds have crazy value. Ghost Spider shored up some of her weaknesses with some cards from the last wave. Not Today! gives her a lot of thwarting tools out of Protection and Pinned Down helps her keep minions in check. I get that she’s a one aspect pony but she can basically fulfill any role out of that aspect.
Thanks for the comment! And I think that is fair! Wolverine to me is squishier than I initially thought and can be very penalized by surprise activations, which may be more of a pilot error! When evaluating heroes that can use multi aspect cards I feel like I needed to take that ability into consideration which does elevate them - Combine that with all the tools the Mutants/Xmen have and I think he deserves the top ten spot
The glorious thing about this game is, that even the worst heroes can be fun to play and offer an additional appeal to try to build around those weaknesses. Having said that. Hulk needs an update 😀
Seeing Spider Woman at 5 is amazing, since most new players will buy the Rise of Red Skull first! (including me, having a blast in my first run of the campaign)
I say QS is better than all C tier or low B, they are all reliant on early build up, and QS can at least do versatile defend while still being ready. he has good card cycling ability. and better late game than all of them.
Villain tier list revisted, soon? I think this is nearly where I stand on a lot of these heroes as well. Valkyrie leader ship works quite well, surprisingly, but I get why she's low(why the hell do I have to pay to attach Death-Glow?!). Venom -Agression, Ant-Man - Justice, and Spider Ham-Leadership are still some of my favorite heroes to play. Nebula, Drax and Groot are simply my guilty pleasures. Something about their kits makes me smile and I know full well they get hard countered a lot by stalwart/high threat/etc., but I don't care :) My only point of contentions with your list is I think Cyclops is a little high. His kit, overall is quite mid, but I get his deck building potential is through the roof. I would rank Cap a little higher, he's still impressive after so many releases. It's also sad to see Quicksilver so low, cause I know you love him to death
Oooohh yea that would be good to revisit! I did take into account the fact that he breaks the deck building rules in my ranking of him. I felt like those allies could be considered accessible to him regardless of aspect so I treated them like I do basic cards (like Mystics get a bump overall because of Spiritual Meditation/Sorcerer Supreme etc). The amount of flexibility that brings to the table is insane And yea, seeing Quicksilver so low is sad, but I think a more fair judgement on him. That being said, he is still a blast to play!
I think Capt. America is way low. Should be top 5. Agree Dr. Strange should be 1st. All I knoww is when I lose with Sider Women, I pull out Cap and he kicks ass. Spider Women is fun to play. Also think Peter parker and Blk. Panther should be higher. I still prefer Peter to Miles. Thanks for the list.

@@darkcow7of9 I think that once we start getting into those top tier heroes they are all incredible. On paper I think Cap checks all the boxes and everyone above him breaks the mold to catapult them higher!
The more I play the more I feel like Venom is the second best hero in the game overall. He just does everything, almost always from turn 1. He’s elite in every aspect, has a huge health pool, has stun and confuse in his kit (his hero kit might be the overall best outside of invocations). He has an incredible alter ego support, which helps make up for having no alter ego ability. Multi-Gun is in the running for best card in the game. His wild resource generation is one of the very best hero abilities, especially if you build to utilize it on the villain phase as well (he plays Protection so well because of this, I think it’s his best aspect). We learned from Domino how nice it is to have a ton of wilds to pay for things, Venom just gets to do it. He’s crazy good. I think Rogue is probably the most underrated hero in the game, of course you’re judging on true solo where she is better in two handed, but her kit is really great. Her curve is high, but it’s all events, and they’re all superpowers, so access to X-Gene and Deft Focus and also X-Jet is really strong. If I had one complaint with Rogue is that’s she has no alter ego ability, if she had even a minor one it would boost her a lot, since she has such powerful events (some of the best) playing Mutant Education with her is good.
Venom is so so good! Totally agree, he feels like he can pretty much do it all! Rogue is in a tough spot, the no AE ability hurts especially when the mutants all want to run to AE to play with all their cool stuff down there!
@@NelsonAllOverCards Yeah, although I do think she runs Mansion/Education the best with her suite. A lot of the X-Men don’t really have AE abilities, I think to knock down their power level a little bit, they kind of have their AE cards instead of AE abilities. Storm and Wolverine also have nothing on AE, Shadowcat doesn’t do much in AE, Phoenix only does something on recover. Cyclops and Gambit are kind of the outliers as far as AE abilities go, with Cyclops being the best I think. I do think Rogue has a top tier kit though, it’s very flexible. I think over time she’s going to grow more and more for people into at least an upper half hero. I think a lot of people got a sour taste early because they were trying to play Sorcerer Supreme and stuff, I think the trait thing is often a trap.
@stephenball2108 yeah, I brought up the same thing with Rogue. Totally agree there that the trait gaining stuff is a bit of a trap. It's fun to mess with, but it's not the best part of her kit, especially in solo. The flexibility of her events synergized with touched is great. That along with her quite good survivability should bump her up at least a bit
@@heroicskeleton1566 Also as far as flexibility goes, her Jacket is pretty outstanding to boost her 2/2/2 stats. She has one of the most powerful event suites in the game. Bulletproof Belle is probably the best defense card in the game. I think the trait thing can be fun in two handed, but I’d need the other hero to be the trait I want. Like a Guardian to gain access to Guardian cards. Mystic doesn’t work out that way because the main reason to have it is Sorcerer Supreme, but that means they can’t play it.
@@stephenball2108 you can make decks specifically to go with your teammate, which I think is a fun way to play her as well. I have fun pairing her with Vision with some reboots, Champions for go for champions and Moon Girl, etc. I actually have an all arounder deck now, that I can use in any situation. It's fine in solo, but for multiplayer it has the flexibility where I can swap out 2-4 cards depending on traits, or if they'd want anything else from leadership like clarity of purpose or upgrades for their voltron ally
What pushes them higher for you? Since I consider all aspects the heroes that are so reliant on flipping seem to really struggle outside of Justice. Combine that with really poor thwarting in their hero kit are the main reasons why they dropped below the Cousins. Hulk and She hulk got some really nice buffs with cards like Limitless Stamina and Unshakeable. The last thing that pushed them ahead in the list is their ability to rush. They both have incredible rush builds that can end a good number of the villains fairly consistently, while my poor Groot and War Machine are not as adept!
My thoughts: You didn’t really go into why Black Widow was C tier rather than A tier. Most tiers lists seem to underestimate how powerful just shutting the villain down is. I do see how she is exponentially more powerful with additional heroes. Sadly I do see how Rogue can be so low on a solo tier list while being a top 10 on a duel hander. I think Gambit was also kinda low. His Royal Flush card if you build the charges can 1 shot a fully health villain. I think a well played Domino is as powerful has Dr Strange.
I could have gone in a bit more detail, but I think that she can be challenging to pilot and she can miss out on triggering some preps more than she can in Solo. I do think Royal Flush is powerful, but it does max out at 9 damage which is nice, but you are paying for flexibility, which isnt a bad thing! Thanks for the comment!
So, I'm going to have to steongly disagree with Widow being a C -Tier. She is one of the absolute best answers to theeat and villain manipulation in the game. With cards like Spycraft, Breaking and Entering, and others, she can literally park herself in Alter Ego consecutively and still being the villains plans to a screeching halt. And then when she goes in hero mode all built up, she can still shut him down and do damage in the process. When I think of moments that I get a big smile and I think of saying, "Uh, I don't think so..." to the villan, I think of Black Widow. In essence, her kit, combined with justice, allows her to actually feel like she's doing something in alter ego and having a heck of a good time in the process. Also, "Float Like A Butterfly..." is an awesome addition to her deck that allows her to drop her opponent quick when she comes in as Black Widow.
Oooh yea that’s interesting, I think those are all valid points! I think she has potential but what brings her down in my opinion are 2 factors. While she thrives in Justice, outside of yellow she doesn’t have super interesting or powerful toys. Secondly, she is pretty slow which can be an issue for villains that come out swinging. She can struggle to get ahead so she can start canceling. That being said, I think she’s pretty challenging to pilot so maybe I just haven’t been able to unlock her full potential yet, she has been one that I’ve wanted to revisit so this comment has been the catalyst to break her back out! If you make a multiplayer tier list may I recommend best heroes together list. Heroes that fill each others. With their best decks etc. And of course there are some heroes which suit almost any role
Groot so low was such a shock, but maybe that makes sense in solo. I mostly play multiplayer and I think he's really strong there. My only other big disagreement is Rogue. I've played her quite a bit in solo, and I think her cards are pretty decently costed. Especially Bulletproof Belle, which is essentially a webbed up for 2 ER instead of 5. I think in solo you are probably better off putting touched on the villain and using her events, instead of doing tribal shenanigans. Other then those minor things, seems pretty good to me👍
Yea Groot reliance on flipping so frequently really hurts in solo. That detriment vastly drops off in multiplayer where these flippier heroes get a good boost. I can see Rogue, she always feels expensive and slow. Which I will admit may be a bias of my Playstyle. She doesn’t build a lot (in her kit) and I have a hard time without that ramp! @NelsonAllOverCards her events might not seem great if touched isn't on the right target. For instance, if you are putting it on an ally for traits. Instead, you can look at what you have in hand and then decide "OK, if put touched here, I can stun/confuse the villain, or here I can remove extra threat, etc". I like that versatility
Oh, also while she doesn't have any build out like you said, I love to run both deft focus and x gene with her. Both of those together makes her events a lot easier to play

I’m surprised to see Cyclops so high. I play him a lot and love his kit, but I find him swingy depending on how quickly ruby quartz visor comes into play. Maybe I’m not deckbuilding right for him.
I think his biggest strength is being able to include his ally friends. Most games I play with Cyclops I don’t even get out the visor. It does feel like he’s being pulled in multiple different directions with his abilities!
I love Cyclops! So fun to play and I love the To Me My X-Men and a giant 50 card ally Heavy deck. The visor and tactics upgrades are almost secondary but fun when you can pull it off, and his thwart event and Phoenix help to get back what he needs.
I dont think there was anything else outside of what I discussed in the video! When I rated him I had only played super favorable matchups which led to the inflated rating and the new rating process!
If the lights behind you have the capability of changing colors, it may be helpful to change it to a different one in the future for splicing in Future Editing Nelson to better differentiate when that's going on.
This is legitmately one of the best tier lists I've ever seen for this game, kudos. I have minor foibles (She-Hulk is better than everybody else in her tier and Justice is probably her worst aspect even solo, and maybe Star-Lord could drop because he's so unreliable) but overall it's refreshing to see takes like War Machine being dumpster tier, Phoenix getting the respect she deserves, Rogue and Ghost-Spider not being horrendously overrated, and Cyclops as one of the strongest in the game.
What I mean is. Game has millions of things to learn. little writings. And every villian is unique. Sometimes we need to stop and search what a card really means, ho something effects etc. Throught that video before I set something up I can learn all this little details
For example. First time we were about to play Hela, it was confusing. You can save Odin at last scheme and I wasn't aware. So we stopped playing started searching. Or Venom says if you attack something happens. I needed to check what is you
You will probably think I have lots of gameplay videos. It is not the same thing. Watching one hour video might not give me an asnwer about what I am trying to learn. While 5 minutes long set up video will ready me for the night
It feels like your list leans heavily into the solo and 2-hero experience. I think that’s led us to value the Guardians very differently. Venom’s econ and status effects feel incredible in low player counts, but diminish in the big games. It’s very hard to put the hero with the highest ceiling for threat removal and damage at 27th - Star Lord. No matter how you build him, I haven’t seen 60+ Threat or 100+ damage turns from a Venom deck with our current card pool. Gamora’s ability to pop big numbers also tops Venom to me, but I think they offer an interesting debate considering his status effects.
And I totally agree, this list looks vastly different at different player counts! But you dont really need that much threat/damage in solo and that encounter card is worse in solo than it is in multiplayer!

I've been on an anti-Cyclops rampage lately. Yeah, his ally ability is fantastic, but that's because allies are such an OP part of the game. His optic blast, on the other hand, is just terrible. It costs a minimum of 2 cards (1 upgrade, 1 discard), for 3 damage. So, it's a Haymaker, for a much harder setup. And he has only 1 "ultimate" card. It stinks, because he looks so awesome in this game and I really wanted to enjoy him.
Colossus?!?!? really?!? I do not understand why he is so high don’t give me wrong. I love him it’s fun, but he relies on a couple of cars and tough so much.
The more I play Colossus the more I understand how solid he can be, being able to basically ignore damage is a huge boost and Steel Fist is an incredible card. Combine that with the ability to cycle it back with his abilities and I think he is something really special. I think he is good without Iron Will and once he gets it on the table - god speed to those who stand in his way!
@@danielcraig6615 Yea I would think so! HIs worst aspect is probably protection at this point, but even then you can lean into the cards that get you more toughs there and not rely on going to AE as much so you dont have to deal with the threat!

And if you want to know why this game is a problem just look at your list... your top 5 heroes are a joke... 1- Dr Strange (ok this is fine..) he is popular and well liked... 2- Spiderham which is a insult to any marvel fan, nobody cares about this character and he is an off shoot joke... 3- Spiderman the backup spiderman not THE spiderman no, we are left with the backup guy, the fill in, the want to be, 4- Vemom (ok this is OK again) as this character is popular and important in the marvel universe, 5- spiderwoman who nobody ever knew about, cared about, or ever followed until she was released... so for your top 5 you have #2 which is a toon character and a joke, you have a backup to a character and a nobody, and you have a character that nobody even knows about or cares about... And where are the character that are loved and followed --- in D tier.... this game is a joke, and simply poorly designed... the losers that make this game are making a mockery of the marvel universe and everything it stands for.... for shame on them and for shame on you for not calling this out on your video... and NO I'm not just a hater, I would like this game to be good and something to play but after each release they are making it harder and harder to care about their crap game.... this is total crap...

@@NelsonAllOverCards I guess that means you think that having these weird, low tier heroes (spiderham, spiderman MM, spiderwoman, ect..) being super powerful, while the real life marvel heroes (black widow, hawkeye, hulfk, ect) being super low power raking is good game design... I would have to seriously disagree with you on that... How many spiderwoman movies have you gone out and seen? How many spiderham posters do you have on your wall? In the marvel universe there is also a power tier as all heroes are not created equally, and in that universe (which is what this game is crafted after) these heroes have their own strength and weaknesses, but they also have history, a story, and a following of people who have followed their story... so this game is NOT crafted with this in mind and Fantasy Flight is only using the characters names to get people to purchase their game as MC has no relation to real life marvel heroes at all... which means in the long run, the marvel champions game you are playing isn't marvel heroes at all it is just random name dude with random powers, using the name of the characters you like so that you buy the game... which to me is BAD game design... and then we could get into the actual bad game design discussion if you like with flipping heroes vs not flipping heroes, low thwart heroes vs high thwart heroes, low resource heroes vs high resource heroes... and the fact that as you have said in many of your videos that updates to heroes or cards would help alot of these heroes and the fact that FF doesn't bother doing that shows their commitment isn't to the fan base, it isn't to making a great game, their commitment is towards selling more heroes and more stuff... if they wanted to fix their game, and if they wanted to make a good game they could... but they rather choose to release more things for you to buy, so their commitment is towards making money rather then making a great game... so you saying this game is designed well shows that you don't see this problem, or aren't willing to admit it at least... which is part of the problem to begin with....
@@idjester I think we have different definitions of game design (which is totally fine) when I think of game design I am thinking more of the mechanics rather than thematic implementations. And I do think that the mechanics are top notch and I am totally fine with the thematic implementations. To me, theme can only improve a game never hinder it. For example, I love Arkham, but dont really care about the theme. To give an extreme example, I think Chess is a brilliantly designed game but couldnt care less about kings, queens, and pawns. In order for the game to have longevity there will be heroes that need to flip, those who will rely on their teammates more, ones that are better than others at damage or thwarting. If that wasn't there all the heroes would feel bland, what I love about the game is figuring out each hero and how they can effectively face off against different encounters! I need to stick up for the designers here, I do know they are passionate about this game and the theme. I think they have done a wonderful job balancing theme and mechanics. If they went too far to the theme side I fear we would have an unplayable game. I am sorry that this game does not seem to be working for you! Hopefully there is another super hero game out there that will fit your playstyle better! Have you tried/heard of Marvel Legendary or Marvel D.A.G.G.E.R.?

I think I agree with the list. 110% agree with the top five. But the more I play solo and the more you went through the list it's just so obvious the designers intend for us to play multiplayer. For true solo though, this list is spot on imo. As much as I love Hawkeye lol. Dude just can't get it done in solo.

The game is a fuller experience with more players and more of a challenge with one hero. It’s one of the things I love about the game - really can make it whatever you want it to be!
You may just need to modernize your Hawkeye builds. His SHIELD builds in J or L and his L builds with Mighty Avengers are undefeated against Ronan and VG for me.

Poor Rogue, I really think she's very good. Superpower Adaptation has so many great uses in solo play, it's arguably more important in solo than in multiplayer in my opinion. Where you need to be versatile and cover everything alone, she can reach into her discard pile and find any solution she needs if you build for it. Deft, X-Gene, and Weapon X are three amazing ways to generate resources with 1-cost cards for her, and the Mutant and X-Men traits in general open up a lot of powerful plays before you even start to dabble in other tribals.
Great list though! We have a lot of similar placements in our lists, if some notable differences - though I think some of those are because mine also factors in multiplayer.

They can always make a Professor X hero pack to surpass Doctor Strange in power with his ultimate signature card "Stop Hitting Yourself!" He can have three copies.
Something I’ve noticed with Quicksilver is that exhaust, stun, confuse, and retaliate can all ruin his day (more so than other characters), particularly if you’re relying on his activations and stats to thwart and do damage (which seems like the most natural way to play him).

I still have to watch this the only thing that catches my eye of interesting, from skipping to the end and looking at the list (and I will have to watch for your explanation) is Spectrum being higher than the floor. Ghost Spider, Ms. Marvel and Wolverine in the "mid" tier. Cap seeming low and of course, Groot and Valk at the bottom when I think you meant to put them in S. But will watch for sure, keep up the good work man!

Personally I feel Widow is easily capable of being at least a B. She's got the ability to set up incredibly well, plus she can handle a large majority of villains easily. Definitely over Rocket & Wasp, both of those have really flimsy kits compared to her.
I can see that! I think Rocket has a better kit than Black Widow personally but totally see the swap for Wasp and Widow
One quick point, I haven’t done a deep dive review on Wasp yet, so she could very well get moved when we get to her!
I feel like Black Widow plays best with 2 or 3 players, over true solo. But I can see it, and I do need to play her more. Wasp, IMO is okay, and can see how quickly she can fall apart.
@@ramonosuke Wasp has got a nice boost with Professor X and being able to recur him! She is one that I have not reviewed yet, so that rating may change!
I think Cap needs to be S tier. He has 2/2/2 stats, built in cost reduction/resource generation depending on form, card draw, AND self-readying.
And he can play any aspect. Combine the fact that he can deal multiple target or single target burst damage and there is literally nothing he can’t be built for.
Lastly, you said that one of the things that lower-tier heroes lack is THW. For any 1 resource, Cap by himself thwarts for 4. If that doesn’t qualify for S-tier I don’t know what does based on your analysis.

I think Spectrum is a great hero with decks that allow her to flip to alter-ego regularly. This allows her to change forms regularly to manage the board well. She also works great in Protection with decks that allow her to ready regularly.

Relatively speaking, in terms of how you rank the heroes 1-40x i think you are about right, with some minor differences I make in mine (and a few of the build heroes are low due to solo).
I just really feel like there needs to another tier, because the top half of B tier really are stronger than what I consider "B tier power level" in an absolute sense.
They've gotten really good in the last while at making very strong A tier heroes, it crowds the tier.
So while i agree with the positioning in terms of ranking of heroes like Wolverine, Gambit, Gamora, and such, I really really don't agree with them being "B tier"
While its a relative list, the letters "B" and "C" also have connotations in regards to there absolute power level.

Agree with just about all your placements, with minor adjustments. My only disagreement is with one, Dr. Strange, he is in a whole tier on his own. In solo, he can pretty much take on any Expert villain with no problem, but could potentially get rushed down with high threat generator like Red Skull. In two players, with someone helping him get going, there is no villain that stands a chance. He is the only hero I do not like to see at the table.

As someone who plays Wolverine a lot, I can't imagine him being lower than A tier. I get where you're coming from, but if his deck is built well, he's great. Domino I feel like is S tier, but I have to play her in solo more. I really don't think She-Hulk belongs in the C tier, considering half of her cards are horrible. I also don't know how I feel about Miles being in S tier. He relies heavily on the villain not being stalwart. On the other hand, when the villain is not, he's amazing. Obviously this is just my take, I'm not saying you're wrong.
Pretty good list overall, I agree with the vast majority of the placement for solo. A lot of the heroes, even higher tier ones are usually a lot better in multiplayer.
Yea I get that, I was limiting S and D tier to 5 heroes and some heroes just missed that cutoff (on either side)
Domino is so amazingly powerful, but we have some crazy strong heroes in the game and feel like she’s up there with the best of them!
Miles takes a hit against Stalwart villains, but we don’t have a ton of those and even when he’s facing them down, his cards are still absurd from a value perspective

I think you might have overcorrected on Wolverine (though I agree he isn’t a Top 5 hero in the game). I’d take him over SP//DR and Storm for instance. SP//DR has a high ceiling but her floor is pretty miserable. Wolverine is just overall more consistent. I don’t really like Storm too much. At low player counts/solo she feels clunky owing to her high cost curve and in higher player counts she almost seems to force other players to build around her.
Cyclops is such an odd hero. Evaluated based solely on his own kit, he’s probably pretty mid but his deck building ability elevates him radically. Even so, I think he might be a little high. I’d push him behind Ironheart, Captain Marvel, Captain America and Ant Man personally.
Anyway, it’s a good list and I appreciate your content! For the most part, I agree with the general spaces that each hero occupies even the above examples would only shift things slightly.
Except Ghost Spider and Mrs Marvel. Mrs Marvel’s Top 10 for me. Her Justice & Aggression builds have crazy value. Ghost Spider shored up some of her weaknesses with some cards from the last wave. Not Today! gives her a lot of thwarting tools out of Protection and Pinned Down helps her keep minions in check. I get that she’s a one aspect pony but she can basically fulfill any role out of that aspect.

When evaluating heroes that can use multi aspect cards I feel like I needed to take that ability into consideration which does elevate them - Combine that with all the tools the Mutants/Xmen have and I think he deserves the top ten spot
The glorious thing about this game is, that even the worst heroes can be fun to play and offer an additional appeal to try to build around those weaknesses.
Having said that. Hulk needs an update 😀

I say QS is better than all C tier or low B, they are all reliant on early build up, and QS can at least do versatile defend while still being ready. he has good card cycling ability. and better late game than all of them.
So many tech upgrades for Iron Man now in Protection and Basic, he can easily get set up on turn 2.

Villain tier list revisted, soon? I think this is nearly where I stand on a lot of these heroes as well. Valkyrie leader ship works quite well, surprisingly, but I get why she's low(why the hell do I have to pay to attach Death-Glow?!). Venom -Agression, Ant-Man - Justice, and Spider Ham-Leadership are still some of my favorite heroes to play. Nebula, Drax and Groot are simply my guilty pleasures. Something about their kits makes me smile and I know full well they get hard countered a lot by stalwart/high threat/etc., but I don't care :)
My only point of contentions with your list is I think Cyclops is a little high. His kit, overall is quite mid, but I get his deck building potential is through the roof. I would rank Cap a little higher, he's still impressive after so many releases. It's also sad to see Quicksilver so low, cause I know you love him to death

I did take into account the fact that he breaks the deck building rules in my ranking of him. I felt like those allies could be considered accessible to him regardless of aspect so I treated them like I do basic cards (like Mystics get a bump overall because of Spiritual Meditation/Sorcerer Supreme etc). The amount of flexibility that brings to the table is insane
And yea, seeing Quicksilver so low is sad, but I think a more fair judgement on him. That being said, he is still a blast to play!
I think Capt. America is way low. Should be top 5. Agree Dr. Strange should be 1st. All I knoww is when I lose with Sider Women, I pull out Cap and he kicks ass. Spider Women is fun to play. Also think Peter parker and Blk. Panther should be higher. I still prefer Peter to Miles. Thanks for the list.

@@darkcow7of9 I think that once we start getting into those top tier heroes they are all incredible. On paper I think Cap checks all the boxes and everyone above him breaks the mold to catapult them higher!
The more I play the more I feel like Venom is the second best hero in the game overall. He just does everything, almost always from turn 1. He’s elite in every aspect, has a huge health pool, has stun and confuse in his kit (his hero kit might be the overall best outside of invocations). He has an incredible alter ego support, which helps make up for having no alter ego ability. Multi-Gun is in the running for best card in the game. His wild resource generation is one of the very best hero abilities, especially if you build to utilize it on the villain phase as well (he plays Protection so well because of this, I think it’s his best aspect). We learned from Domino how nice it is to have a ton of wilds to pay for things, Venom just gets to do it. He’s crazy good.
I think Rogue is probably the most underrated hero in the game, of course you’re judging on true solo where she is better in two handed, but her kit is really great. Her curve is high, but it’s all events, and they’re all superpowers, so access to X-Gene and Deft Focus and also X-Jet is really strong. If I had one complaint with Rogue is that’s she has no alter ego ability, if she had even a minor one it would boost her a lot, since she has such powerful events (some of the best) playing Mutant Education with her is good.

Rogue is in a tough spot, the no AE ability hurts especially when the mutants all want to run to AE to play with all their cool stuff down there!
@@NelsonAllOverCards Yeah, although I do think she runs Mansion/Education the best with her suite. A lot of the X-Men don’t really have AE abilities, I think to knock down their power level a little bit, they kind of have their AE cards instead of AE abilities. Storm and Wolverine also have nothing on AE, Shadowcat doesn’t do much in AE, Phoenix only does something on recover. Cyclops and Gambit are kind of the outliers as far as AE abilities go, with Cyclops being the best I think.
I do think Rogue has a top tier kit though, it’s very flexible. I think over time she’s going to grow more and more for people into at least an upper half hero. I think a lot of people got a sour taste early because they were trying to play Sorcerer Supreme and stuff, I think the trait thing is often a trap.
@stephenball2108 yeah, I brought up the same thing with Rogue. Totally agree there that the trait gaining stuff is a bit of a trap. It's fun to mess with, but it's not the best part of her kit, especially in solo. The flexibility of her events synergized with touched is great. That along with her quite good survivability should bump her up at least a bit
@@heroicskeleton1566 Also as far as flexibility goes, her Jacket is pretty outstanding to boost her 2/2/2 stats. She has one of the most powerful event suites in the game. Bulletproof Belle is probably the best defense card in the game.
I think the trait thing can be fun in two handed, but I’d need the other hero to be the trait I want. Like a Guardian to gain access to Guardian cards. Mystic doesn’t work out that way because the main reason to have it is Sorcerer Supreme, but that means they can’t play it.
@@stephenball2108 you can make decks specifically to go with your teammate, which I think is a fun way to play her as well. I have fun pairing her with Vision with some reboots, Champions for go for champions and Moon Girl, etc. I actually have an all arounder deck now, that I can use in any situation. It's fine in solo, but for multiplayer it has the flexibility where I can swap out 2-4 cards depending on traits, or if they'd want anything else from leadership like clarity of purpose or upgrades for their voltron ally

What pushes them higher for you?
Since I consider all aspects the heroes that are so reliant on flipping seem to really struggle outside of Justice. Combine that with really poor thwarting in their hero kit are the main reasons why they dropped below the Cousins.
Hulk and She hulk got some really nice buffs with cards like Limitless Stamina and Unshakeable. The last thing that pushed them ahead in the list is their ability to rush. They both have incredible rush builds that can end a good number of the villains fairly consistently, while my poor Groot and War Machine are not as adept!
You say “detriment” I say card cycling. Hulk is A tier damnit lol.

You didn’t really go into why Black Widow was C tier rather than A tier. Most tiers lists seem to underestimate how powerful just shutting the villain down is. I do see how she is exponentially more powerful with additional heroes.
Sadly I do see how Rogue can be so low on a solo tier list while being a top 10 on a duel hander.
I think Gambit was also kinda low. His Royal Flush card if you build the charges can 1 shot a fully health villain.
I think a well played Domino is as powerful has Dr Strange.
I could have gone in a bit more detail, but I think that she can be challenging to pilot and she can miss out on triggering some preps more than she can in Solo.
I do think Royal Flush is powerful, but it does max out at 9 damage which is nice, but you are paying for flexibility, which isnt a bad thing!

So, I'm going to have to steongly disagree with Widow being a C -Tier. She is one of the absolute best answers to theeat and villain manipulation in the game.
With cards like Spycraft, Breaking and Entering, and others, she can literally park herself in Alter Ego consecutively and still being the villains plans to a screeching halt.
And then when she goes in hero mode all built up, she can still shut him down and do damage in the process.
When I think of moments that I get a big smile and I think of saying, "Uh, I don't think so..." to the villan, I think of Black Widow.
In essence, her kit, combined with justice, allows her to actually feel like she's doing something in alter ego and having a heck of a good time in the process.
Also, "Float Like A Butterfly..." is an awesome addition to her deck that allows her to drop her opponent quick when she comes in as Black Widow.

I think she has potential but what brings her down in my opinion are 2 factors. While she thrives in Justice, outside of yellow she doesn’t have super interesting or powerful toys. Secondly, she is pretty slow which can be an issue for villains that come out swinging. She can struggle to get ahead so she can start canceling.
That being said, I think she’s pretty challenging to pilot so maybe I just haven’t been able to unlock her full potential yet, she has been one that I’ve wanted to revisit so this comment has been the catalyst to break her back out!

Groot so low was such a shock, but maybe that makes sense in solo. I mostly play multiplayer and I think he's really strong there.
My only other big disagreement is Rogue. I've played her quite a bit in solo, and I think her cards are pretty decently costed. Especially Bulletproof Belle, which is essentially a webbed up for 2 ER instead of 5. I think in solo you are probably better off putting touched on the villain and using her events, instead of doing tribal shenanigans.
Other then those minor things, seems pretty good to me👍
Yea Groot reliance on flipping so frequently really hurts in solo. That detriment vastly drops off in multiplayer where these flippier heroes get a good boost.
I can see Rogue, she always feels expensive and slow. Which I will admit may be a bias of my Playstyle. She doesn’t build a lot (in her kit) and I have a hard time without that ramp!

@NelsonAllOverCards her events might not seem great if touched isn't on the right target. For instance, if you are putting it on an ally for traits. Instead, you can look at what you have in hand and then decide "OK, if put touched here, I can stun/confuse the villain, or here I can remove extra threat, etc". I like that versatility
Oh, also while she doesn't have any build out like you said, I love to run both deft focus and x gene with her. Both of those together makes her events a lot easier to play

I’m surprised to see Cyclops so high. I play him a lot and love his kit, but I find him swingy depending on how quickly ruby quartz visor comes into play. Maybe I’m not deckbuilding right for him.
I think his biggest strength is being able to include his ally friends. Most games I play with Cyclops I don’t even get out the visor.
It does feel like he’s being pulled in multiple different directions with his abilities!
I love Cyclops! So fun to play and I love the To Me My X-Men and a giant 50 card ally Heavy deck. The visor and tactics upgrades are almost secondary but fun when you can pull it off, and his thwart event and Phoenix help to get back what he needs.

I dont think there was anything else outside of what I discussed in the video! When I rated him I had only played super favorable matchups which led to the inflated rating and the new rating process!

This is legitmately one of the best tier lists I've ever seen for this game, kudos. I have minor foibles (She-Hulk is better than everybody else in her tier and Justice is probably her worst aspect even solo, and maybe Star-Lord could drop because he's so unreliable) but overall it's refreshing to see takes like War Machine being dumpster tier, Phoenix getting the respect she deserves, Rogue and Ghost-Spider not being horrendously overrated, and Cyclops as one of the strongest in the game.

It feels like your list leans heavily into the solo and 2-hero experience.
I think that’s led us to value the Guardians very differently. Venom’s econ and status effects feel incredible in low player counts, but diminish in the big games.
It’s very hard to put the hero with the highest ceiling for threat removal and damage at 27th - Star Lord. No matter how you build him, I haven’t seen 60+ Threat or 100+ damage turns from a Venom deck with our current card pool.
Gamora’s ability to pop big numbers also tops Venom to me, but I think they offer an interesting debate considering his status effects.

I've been on an anti-Cyclops rampage lately. Yeah, his ally ability is fantastic, but that's because allies are such an OP part of the game. His optic blast, on the other hand, is just terrible. It costs a minimum of 2 cards (1 upgrade, 1 discard), for 3 damage. So, it's a Haymaker, for a much harder setup. And he has only 1 "ultimate" card. It stinks, because he looks so awesome in this game and I really wanted to enjoy him.
Yea the optic blast leaves room to be desired, once you get the visor out it becomes much easier to pull off!
Colossus?!?!? really?!? I do not understand why he is so high don’t give me wrong. I love him it’s fun, but he relies on a couple of cars and tough so much.
The more I play Colossus the more I understand how solid he can be, being able to basically ignore damage is a huge boost and Steel Fist is an incredible card. Combine that with the ability to cycle it back with his abilities and I think he is something really special.
I think he is good without Iron Will and once he gets it on the table - god speed to those who stand in his way!

@@danielcraig6615 Yea I would think so! HIs worst aspect is probably protection at this point, but even then you can lean into the cards that get you more toughs there and not rely on going to AE as much so you dont have to deal with the threat!

And if you want to know why this game is a problem just look at your list... your top 5 heroes are a joke... 1- Dr Strange (ok this is fine..) he is popular and well liked... 2- Spiderham which is a insult to any marvel fan, nobody cares about this character and he is an off shoot joke... 3- Spiderman the backup spiderman not THE spiderman no, we are left with the backup guy, the fill in, the want to be, 4- Vemom (ok this is OK again) as this character is popular and important in the marvel universe, 5- spiderwoman who nobody ever knew about, cared about, or ever followed until she was released... so for your top 5 you have #2 which is a toon character and a joke, you have a backup to a character and a nobody, and you have a character that nobody even knows about or cares about... And where are the character that are loved and followed --- in D tier.... this game is a joke, and simply poorly designed... the losers that make this game are making a mockery of the marvel universe and everything it stands for.... for shame on them and for shame on you for not calling this out on your video... and NO I'm not just a hater, I would like this game to be good and something to play but after each release they are making it harder and harder to care about their crap game.... this is total crap...

I think the game is designed fantastically and love the fact that we get exposure to a ton of new, and in my opinion, incredibly fun heroes.
@@NelsonAllOverCards I guess that means you think that having these weird, low tier heroes (spiderham, spiderman MM, spiderwoman, ect..) being super powerful, while the real life marvel heroes (black widow, hawkeye, hulfk, ect) being super low power raking is good game design... I would have to seriously disagree with you on that... How many spiderwoman movies have you gone out and seen? How many spiderham posters do you have on your wall? In the marvel universe there is also a power tier as all heroes are not created equally, and in that universe (which is what this game is crafted after) these heroes have their own strength and weaknesses, but they also have history, a story, and a following of people who have followed their story... so this game is NOT crafted with this in mind and Fantasy Flight is only using the characters names to get people to purchase their game as MC has no relation to real life marvel heroes at all... which means in the long run, the marvel champions game you are playing isn't marvel heroes at all it is just random name dude with random powers, using the name of the characters you like so that you buy the game... which to me is BAD game design... and then we could get into the actual bad game design discussion if you like with flipping heroes vs not flipping heroes, low thwart heroes vs high thwart heroes, low resource heroes vs high resource heroes... and the fact that as you have said in many of your videos that updates to heroes or cards would help alot of these heroes and the fact that FF doesn't bother doing that shows their commitment isn't to the fan base, it isn't to making a great game, their commitment is towards selling more heroes and more stuff... if they wanted to fix their game, and if they wanted to make a good game they could... but they rather choose to release more things for you to buy, so their commitment is towards making money rather then making a great game... so you saying this game is designed well shows that you don't see this problem, or aren't willing to admit it at least... which is part of the problem to begin with....
@@idjester I think we have different definitions of game design (which is totally fine) when I think of game design I am thinking more of the mechanics rather than thematic implementations. And I do think that the mechanics are top notch and I am totally fine with the thematic implementations.
To me, theme can only improve a game never hinder it. For example, I love Arkham, but dont really care about the theme. To give an extreme example, I think Chess is a brilliantly designed game but couldnt care less about kings, queens, and pawns.
In order for the game to have longevity there will be heroes that need to flip, those who will rely on their teammates more, ones that are better than others at damage or thwarting. If that wasn't there all the heroes would feel bland, what I love about the game is figuring out each hero and how they can effectively face off against different encounters!
I need to stick up for the designers here, I do know they are passionate about this game and the theme. I think they have done a wonderful job balancing theme and mechanics. If they went too far to the theme side I fear we would have an unplayable game.
I am sorry that this game does not seem to be working for you! Hopefully there is another super hero game out there that will fit your playstyle better! Have you tried/heard of Marvel Legendary or Marvel D.A.G.G.E.R.?
