Hey, Nelson! Great review! I wonder why you don't start including the pool aspect into your analysis of MC heroes. I think that aspect, with its insanely strong cards, could really be taken advantage of by Kurt.

Great review with solid points. I think the discrepancy in power ranking is because of two factors: 1) his nemesis set is disproportionately brutal using standard 3 compared to his strengths in my opinion. Since you play standard 3 he will naturally feel weaker compared to someone who plays standard 1. 2) he is a hard hero to compare because he is good at the things most heroes need help with and needs damage which we have traditionally relied on hero kits for. He also excels at the thing we have become accustomed to using chump blockers for. This makes it challenging to make direct comparisons to other heroes. Personally I think I’d place him in A tier based on the crazy efficiency of his kit, and his durability. In the games I’ve played on harder villains on expert, his been able to survive where many other characters would have died. I would give an asterisk though if you play him with standard 3 and probably rank him similar to where you put him but I think that is a symptom of the nemesis set not the hero itself. I think Kurt really requires a tactics shift in play lines and deck building which I find super refreshing as a mostly solo player!

That feels like way too low of a ranking. I haven't played him a ton, but he has felt amazing and getting a default reduction on villain attacks essentially is nuts. I have played him with a change of fortune deck and had no real issues with minions so far. I sort of feel like the damage aspect is a little overblown. While he only has 3 technical attack cards, Tally Ho! adds additional attack. Riposte has felt great with him, and powerful punch has felt pretty good as well since his tail can help pay for it and x-jet if you have it. Plus having retaliate adds that damage up as well. Not saying he has all the attack in the world, but to me so far he has felt fine on the damage front. I just don't see a way where he is worse than Iceman, who I feel terrible when playing because you get thwarted out often, have trouble playing your cards because of how expensive they are, etc. But I don't play on expert admittedly, and haven't faced him against the toughest villains yet so I could be wrong.

Only played a few games with Kurt (and only in green) but Riposte has solved the damage problem for me. With the Cutlasses, you're dealing 4 damage that gets around retaliate. It's not burst, it's chip, but has led to good tempo games.

I've been playing Nightcrawler a ton, in true solo, and I think you have some great points! I do think protection is being slept on in solo from the Under Control perspective. That card is really great at clearing minions, especially using defend-without-exhausting cards like jump flip/side step. The action compression of using Jump Flip on a 2 attack minion with under control, taking no damage, possibly triggering Unflappable and Change of Fortune, dealing 4 back (6 if vest and Cutlasses are online) and taking 2 threat from the main, and not being exhausted has really worked out well for me. And, if you have sidestep, cutlasses, and electrostatic, Azazel coming out isn't as bad, since you insta-kill him on the quickstrike. I will hold a sidestep into the villain phase if Pursued looks close to popping just to make sure. Tally-Ho also claps back for 5 if you have your board built. This also frees you to use your hero damage cards on the villain, and I found getting attacked was important for Nightcrawler to do damage over time to the villain with retaliate/vest. For me, he's low A, but it is challenging to see who I'd push out on your own list. I do think bottom of B is a bit harsh, but part of why this game rules is getting different experiences out of the same heroes with experienced players!

I'm in the Justice camp. I usually run a yellow damage build with him, transforming his thwarting into damage, killing 2 birds (or more) with one stone. "Stealth strike", "Making an entrance", "Waylay", "Turn the tide"... I know there are stronger ways to play him but with my current card pool, it's my favourite. Protection I have a lot of trouble with. Not sure if I'm unlucky or just bad, but I always had those recursions of villian and minion attacks and when you're Nightcrawler in protection and you're getting hit for a lot of damage, it feels twice as bad because you kind of develop this mindset that you're untouchable. TLDR: I need to buy more agression X-men.

He looks awesome! I want to play the X-men, but there are so many that I can’t financially justify beginning this track yet!

Just now noticed that I wasn’t subscribed on a 2 year old video. Corrected that error. You may have touched on it since this video, but Ticket to the Multiverse has an additional function besides just giving an extra turn. You can save it till you are about to deck out and then use it to reset your deck. So in addition to granting an extra turn it also functions as an encounter card negation since it prevents you from decking.

I find these explanations very helpful in learning how to combo cards! Thank you for your videos!! Have you done this idea for LOTR LCG also?

Nice video. I need to watch more people play protection. It’s the one aspect I have a bit less confidence in. Thanks for sharing your strategies in deck building.

Dont know if you thought if was too obvious or not, but Nightcrawler is a fantastic runner of the deck as bamf can allow him to defend both the villain and Minion. Not a huge fan of First Hit, even in a favorable deck, ifs just way too inefficient. Under Control and Powerful punch (discounted by nerves of steel) with retaliate/energy barrier for supplemental dmg has been consistent for me.

First off, great haircut. Second, I love that you brought deck factory back for this card. It’s such a great card. I’ve loved it with Black Widow. I’ll totally try to build it with Dr strange and toughened Warpath

Artic Attack is quite impressive! A 2 cost event (1 if Deft is in play) with these options is crazy. I won with this card. My first play with Bobby was today. As Nelson mentions, Ice Man is so good at threat management in solo.

Very good synergies on this one !!! Always love that kind of two-handed content ! Gambit could thwart shopping spree easily, that also could be a build I lean more on at some point :)

I am really digging the Black Widow scenario. I love the Preparation system so it will be fun having it thrown back at me plus I love how she uses the AIM Grunts as Chump blocks now we see how the villains feel. I am really looking forward to the campaign system. I don't play them a lot but I do really enjoy them. I didn't hate the Apocalypse box's system its just for me other than the campaign heroes none of the rewards were worth all the effort Yeah my three definites are Shuri, WS, and Falcon. The last is possibly Quake (SHIELD & Inhuman), Mockingbird, or Black Cat. I do also feel the Inhuman parts could be hinting at the next box being an Inhuman wave so if they don't have Quake here hopefully she is there.

I'm pretty sure you were suppose to leave the Study in game and only add Hallway connecting to the Study. The step where the characters are suddenly inside Hallway was not correct.
