  • I bought a 1967 Ford Mustang for $2500 that I'm told has been sitting since 1986. The guy I bought it from was helping a friend sell it. He pressure washed it and wiped down the interior. Let's dive in and see if I SCORED or if this is a BUST!

Wow, she's rusty. Maybe someone with skills can replace the rotted sheet metal and save it but if nothing else, it would be a great donor to a solid '64 to '68 Mustang with a 6cyl for a V8 conversion. What I LOVE about your channel is that you're an average guy and keep it real - no TV show or giant shop - you do all this the way so many of us do - working in our garage with what tools we have on whatever projects we can afford. That's what makes this such a great channel. Love it. Keep up the good work! 👍

We drove everywhere in that car. Loved the dash. Played pretend in the car and it felt like being in an airplane! One of the nicest, base cars with a great sporty look, or a powerplant to match the look. Ran the full range. Great memories!

Seeing this one kinda breaks my heart. Though power steering was optional, its rare to find one without it. I have a 68 Mustang I bought in 1977 that was in nearly new condition. Lifelong Southern California car. No rust issues. Diamond blue, with 2 tone blue interior, White vinyl top, 289, power steering, Factory AC, automatic, its in beautiful condition inside and out. Still on the road. It kills me to see what rust does to vehicles. If only it had been stored in a good garage ! Always enjoy your videos, I subscribed long ago.

Yes true. I was surprised to see all the dash metal was RUSTED TOO. I was born a huge car guy. In 1960 my parents bought a 1958 cadillac from a Doctor friend of theirs. I was 1 year old. It has RARE FACTORY AC! Thats the first car I fell in love with. Unfortunately in 1963 my parents divorced after 20 years of marriage. Mom got the house and the caddy. By 5 years old I was washing the car every Saturday. As I got older I was in charge of maintenance, oil changes, Spark plugs replacement, etc...Which i enjoyed doing. I think God knew I would be a car nut, and put me in Southern California! Lol. Mom knew I wanted the cadillac BAD!, And in 1982 she gave it to me. Its in good shape, and on the road. So I have 2 cars I'm taking care of. Of course I have new cars for everyday use. Its fun taking them to car shows, the caddy is the most fun. Frequently its the only cadillac at the show. And young kids today have never seen one like it lol. Once a teenager says to me, Wow, thats a cool IMPALA!! LOL. I looked at the front of the caddy, I swear she looked PISSED OFF! LOL! Be well.

I don't know how expensive they are, but by the time someone does all the labor that reworking the frame will take; it might be money ahead to just buy an aftermarket frame and do a swap. Would be something you'd be able to do (especially with the lift). At least then any other part swaps you're doing could be done on the frame before lowering the body back on it. Would also make the floor replacement work easier.

That all can be fixed. For starters the gas tank and side supports (available) and new tank need to be replaced. Then a nearly complete torx box set and floor pans. Some serious work but can be done quite easily with the proper tools. I did a great deal of work on restoring a 66 mustang back in 1994 and a company named vintage mustang here in Houston Tx had all those torx boxes and floor pans and even rockers, and they had the lower door skins and complete quarter panels that I needed. It can be done and is actually worth it when you consider a similiar sized car today with all its BS electronic starts at 25K and more.

Hey Chris...I love it, smoking a cigarette and driving a classic. Don't junk it save and fix it. In my younger days I owned a new 67 Chevelle 396 SS, wish I would have kept it. It amuses me how if you need a part you go to your stash and there it is.

I am constantly amazed at what you are able to do. So many of these cars seem far beyond savable and in an hour or so of video, you are ripping them down the road. Give Gus a pet, we have a dapple dachshund that look a lot like him!

Great 'hacks' on fixing old, rusted, locked up parts.
Suprised to see you put time/money into the brake system.
I'd pull the engine and good parts, junk the rest. Love how you clean these old cars.

I had that exact car back in high school ! Mine was in better shape. I paid $400 in 73 for it. 289 4 barrel. I put headers and duals on it . Ran great ! You can leave it in second gear to 100mph ! Used to surprise a lot of better cars with it. 👊😎👍

Some cool tips and tricks here. First time I have seen the impact vibrator method used to unstick a clutch. That a cool old mustang. Too bad the monocoque core is a rusty pile. The good news is now you can buy every pice of the body you need to repair the rot. A lot of this body is still pretty good.

This video brings back fond memory's of my teen age years. My first car was a 1966 Mustang that I bought when I was 15. After owning it for a short time I realized it had a 289 Hi-Po engine with a factory 4 Barrel and factory 4 Speed transmission. It had duel exhaust and a column mounted tack as well as a clock. Kick myself for selling that one. But when I did I bought a 1968 mustang with a 289 and 3 speed manual. Drove that one threw my high school years. Man this video takes me back! Chris keep up the good work and keep making top notch videos.

Finally an old Ford! The location in the VIN decide is sales district not plant location. And even though we all say "valve", the "V" in 2V is for Venturi. Glad it's on the schedule for more work.

Great memories of working on my 1969 Mustang 302, 2V. I sold it in 1979 with over 100,000 miles on it and it still drove great with the ball joints (suspension arms) being replaced to firm-up the steering.

The availability of all the panel parts in my opinion make this a large but not a unpractical project, would also check those sills which are a plum for rotting from the inside out. Will be a very desirable car if it has the repairs carried out in a tradesman like manner. Good video thanks for your efforts. Regards Chris

Great video Chris. I had a '67 copper brown coupe, black vinyl top, auto trans. Slightly hot rodded. Your stang has definitely seen better days. She's with the right guy tho. With some more tlc she'll be road worthy once again. Some friendly advice: don't torque the body too much until you get it repaired. If the body twists it will cause irreversible damage. Unibody cars can be delicate, especially in that rust bucket shape. Can't wait to see next update. Gus stole the show as usual. Peace!

Great vid! I've spent the last couple week cleaning out my F-I-L's car, which had only sat for nine months or so, still had six nests in it, reeked, had to pull everthing not metal out, cleaned every surface I could get to, and finally ran an ozone generator for a few hours. Hopefully the smell is gone for good, now have to put it all back together again.

I can’t believe he smoked one of those cigs. When I was a teenager in the 90s my next door neighbor was a model for beson and hedges and he was in their magazine ads and billboards.
I also can’t believe that thing did burnouts. I died of laughter at that.
