Arizona heat is like opening an oven and feeling the heat vs Midwest/SouthEast heat throwing a bucket of boiling water on you. I'll take the oven heat any day.
@Isaac Aragon No its more like a SAUNA. Its good for your skin. You'll sweat in dry heat too it just wont be as fast. You wont be dripping within 10 minutes.
So true. Born and raised in New Orleans. It’s smells and the hottest place I’ve ever been (I’m a combat veteran). Phoenix Summer is comparatively pleasant.
What a great analogy
boiling water? talk about overly dramatic.
Unless it's during Arizona's _muggy_ season. I love how people like to pretend there are no humid days in Arizona...too laughable.
Phoenix is a great place to raise a family
I have been here since may 1971. I was a Phoenix Police officer for 28 years. My kids graduated from ASU. I recomend Phoenix, it is hot in the summer but air conditioning is everywhere. Fall, winter and Spring are great.
I plan on moving here with my friends and start a family here.
me too by 2022
Same I’m moving there in February
i moved in November and i'm loving it here :)

wow thanks for the video! I’m moving to Phoenix next year for college & came to my surprise you’re from the great lakes aswell!!!!
Good luck on your move next year. Coming from the Great Lakes, the summers may take some getting used to, but the warmer and snowless winters are a pretty nice change!
Thank you! Great info, I'm taking a trip there soon.
Thanks for watching!

Thanks for your videos and tours me and my family will be moving from Michigan mid Julyn this year and you have been helpful!
You’re welcome! Glad you were helped by the channel and congrats on your move. It will be a little toasty when you get here. Lol
I'm in Great Lakes region but thinking about Phoenix. This was really helpful...thanks!
I moved to the East Valley (Tempe) from Texas 19 years ago and I haven't yet met anyone that's had "Valley Fever"..You forgot to mention that the state of Arizona (except for the Navajo reservation) does not observe daylight savings time..That's why the sun goes down earlier..DUH !! Also worth mentioning..the cool, sunny and beautiful winters in AZ make up for the blistering hot summers..in my opinion..
Thanks for the information.
You’re welcome!
Ty ty ty ty for providing these honest personal observations of the area. It's so hard to gauge a new place based on ppl who've had a bad or good experience. They seem to focus on one or the other. If I'm going to live somewhere, I need to know both. Valley Fever has been a concern of mine based on an actual case I read about. I have better info now. So again ty. Btw your baby is adorable. ❤
Thanks for your comment. And I do try to present both sides of the coin when it comes to living here. There's good and bad aspects to every place and I will share that. I want people to know (hopefully) what they're getting into if and when they decide to move here.
Great video.
Thanks!
Great insight. I am an RN that will be relocating to Phoenix, AZ.
@@bostonmike5981 Not sure, but I am ready to leave Maryland. 💪

Nice job. Very informative.

Thanks! Need to make another trip to visit to see if it is where I'd like to move to.
Thank you ☺
İ live in England but the houses in Arizona are so nice and so is everything else so i love Arizona.
England has way better public transportation. Gonna need a car in PHX for everything
thanks for sharing
No problem. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for this video. I am moving to PHX from Portland. So excited to live somewhere without constant overcast. I grew up in the nw and need a change.
Thanks for watching!
Unplugging things helps with electric bills. Our bills have dropped dramatically. We unplug big screen TV, washer, dryer, coffee maker, etc. when not in use. Fairly smart and easy to do to save hundreds a year.
No More Marxist BS it’s your cable or satellite box that takes more energy than all of those things combined
No More Marxist BS I want to live in that home. “Hey kids, time to move everything so we can save 20 bucks a month... Don’t worry, we will have to do it all again when we get home, and when we leave again.....”
Honestly the best thing to do is plug all these things into a power strip and you can just flip a switch and be done with it.
You can also purchase adapters that turn off on your phone. I bought them from cost co.
but also helps if you get one on one of those power deals where you can use cheap cheaper power at night then you can run your dishwasher your dryer etc at night
I'm surprised you didn't mention the monsoon season & the haboobs & dust storms in the summer!!
Wast of time monsoon only last a few minutes
@@brewdanny4988 Wrong, It actually rained for 2 hours straight, here in Phoenix yesterday. Loved it!!
yeah...it got dark in Miami early...Wisconsin does have good summers as we share the same lake...lol...i do live near Michigan lake
I’m 24 and was born and raised here in Phoenix, Maryvalle area and I never heard of valley fever. Good video though. 602 forever 🤘🏼
Just suscribed, great video. I'm seriously considering leaving Florida and moving to Phoenix or Scottsdale, just to get outta the southeast.
Thanks for subscribing. Good luck on whatever you decide!
Lived in Florida moved to AZ, going back to FL. AZ is not all that crack out to be. Is getting very busy at a lightning speed. A lot criminality that people don't talk about. If you love the ocean you will miss it everyday. Hiking a mountain is not that great, the Ocean is the real deal when it come to really relax. Taxes are actually really high. Specially sales taxes. It is a beautiful state. But it will wear out . Unless you live in the North of Arizona where the weather is a bit milder than the central and South. If you suffer from Allergies enjoy the outdoors is going to be hard because of the particles that are constant in the air. An eye on the weather before you step out the door mandatory, so you can protect yourself. Good luck!
OMG this video was so helpful I'm in Ohio and want to move to AZ for my job and weather I have so many questions
I liked it back in the early 2000s but those summers were brutal!! The law there is no joke either...it such a police state. Had fun in Tempe and Scottsdale but that was 15 to 18 years ago...
Great place in Febuary love it down there golfing in winter.
Great weather that time of year!
Great 👍 video ..... whew a whole lot of good SHOCKING information too 👀👀👀
Thanks for watching!
I lived in Tempe from 1990-1992, just east of the ASU campus. I loved going to grad school there even though I was dirt poor. I loved bars like the Dash Inn, and the Chuck Box burger place. The Summer heat was tough to adjust to, but dry heat beats humid Florida any day. I never turned on my heat in two years, but I ran my AC 24/7 for 9 months of the year in my all utility paid apartment on Lemon Street. I loved the beautiful sunsets, driving to visit Tucson, Sedona, Flagstaff and the Grand Canyon. Definitely one of my five favorite states. I live in Colorado but will be visiting AZ again soon for Cactus League baseball.
Thank you very much for your videos. I’ve learned a lot about Arizona.
If possible, can you please do a video on North/South of Avondale, AZ?
Thank you,
I will be going to Avondale at some point. It’s on the list!
Enjoyed visiting your city in 2015, and 2016. Loved our drive to the Rock castles Montezuma, and northward. Food (The best Mexican sauces) Thanks for sharing.
Glad you’ve had good visits and good food! Thank you for watching!
A good swamp (evaporative) cooler can work wonders with both cooling and relieving dry skin. It's much less expensive to use than air conditioning. However a good one can cost about $400 or more.
1:09 So true I live by 107th and Northern and I had to commute 30-45 minutes to downtown
great info 🖒🖒🖒🖒
Michigander here that just spent the last week in Phoenix and loved it! Looking to relocate in a year or two.
Glad you enjoyed your time here. Good luck with your moving plans!
Very True
Just moved to Deer Valley 6 days ago-discovered your channel today.
Welcome to the area and thanks for watching!
Thank you for your informative content. So helpful! We’re from MN and considering moving to PHX. Do you have insight on pool maintance cost? We are looking at Desert Ridge...any helpful tidbits on that area? Thanks!
I do not have a pool and not familiar with the average costs on that. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful on the subject. Thanks for watching!
Might be moving from Austin to Scottsdale for a tech job. I hope it works out. Thanks for the tips.
No problem. Good luck to you!
Thank you for the information! I have learned a lot about AZ through your videos. Keep up the excellent work. Your son is cute!!!
Glad my videos have been helpful! Thanks for your comment and for watching! (I'll pass the compliment on to my son).
I liked my time in Chandler, AZ when I was out there for a week on business. If an opportunity rose up out there, I would chase after it because I found I really like Arizona. I don't mind super hot weather either, but I need to learn more about AZ before taking the plunge from VA to AZ.
I was born and raised in AZ and due to it being so great everyone is moving here so the house sales are higher priced.
Can’t wait to move there from Ohio to start college there and anything I should do when I get there
Thanks for your very informative videos. I was wondering if you would be able to answer a question. We a will be traveling to Arizona in July to look at neighborhoods. We’re thinking about Gilbert or Chandler. We have also looked at San Tan Valley and Florence but the high schools rank at 6 as opposed to 8 or 9 in Gilbert. The homes are beautiful but don’t want to risk moving there if the schools are not really good. In your opinion , what would be an ideal neighborhood with great schools and homes priced between 250,000- 300,000? We will be moving in June of next year.
I think Gilbert / Chandler is your best bet for schooling out of the areas you mentioned. In my opinion, San Tan Valley just doesn’t cut it with the school ratings for families with children.
I can say that both South Chandler and South Gilbert offer good schools. I would go to somewhere like Greatschools.org, find the school system you are interested in and look at the school map. They will show you the ratings of the schools in specific neighborhoods and then you can check out the housing prices in those higher rated school zones.
Thanks for your videos. Appreciate the info. I’m pretty familiar with the Phoenix area except for a newer community called Eastmark in Mesa. Have you been to that area before? And if so what were your thoughts?
Thanks for your comment. Sorry, I have not been in that area so I don't have much info on Eastmark.
Arizona Dreamz Ok. If you ever happen to drive by there, feel free to drop a video. :-)
I will definitely do one if I'm in the area!
Hey! Planning to move to Mesa or Glendale (still thinking) in May from Florida and I fell upon your channel! Some similarities from where I live.
Which areas of Phoenix would be best for a married couple without kids (younger 30s)?
Mesa over Glendale. However, looking at places with the highest rate of residents ages 22 - 34, I would suggest Gilbert, Chandler, Peoria, Scottsdale, Tempe, and Cave Creek. Tempe is the highest for the age range followed by Chandler. Note that certain parts of Tempe have a higher crime rate than the others on the list, so make sure to do a zip code search on crime wherever you move. Not sure how old these statistics are though.
Mex food try rositas or reynosos in tempe very very bueno mi amiga
I'm visiting AZ in December and will check both out ... love Mexican cuisine. What is your opinion on the electric bill for a 2 Bedroom apartment or smaller 3 Bedroom house for 1-2 people? I'm super nervous about the electric bill. I was told that it will average out just moving to Cali because even though Cali rent is high ... it'll average out with the astronomical electric bills in AZ. What's your thoughts?
The Reynoso's are from Globe.
Bang chance to do a driving tour of Silverleaf & Desert mountain area Cheers 🍻
❤️❤️❤️Arizona its really hot May, June, July, August
And every other time of the year. 😂😂😂

500 a month in utility bills for 2,000 sq feet. That's pretty damn high. Thank you for this video. I've always wanted to move down there but it always is useful to weigh the cons as well. Much appreciated!
Msthoro1 girl your nuts thats fucking cheap then balls I’m here in New York 500 is perfect
I might have to skip Phoenix if its too expensive altogether. Atlanta wouldn't be on my list either. Its Vegas, or Jacksonville right now. Maybe Mesa but I dunno.
How much people pay for heat in the bitterly cold States?it's the opposite hear you don't go much out in the summer time and stay in air conditioning and then come out in the fall and the winter and spring were most States back East where it gets cold you spend your winter inside and can't wait for summer
a no on I just remembered air conditioners are getting more efficient nowadays you can get one that's closer to 20 seer and that lowers your power bill
great video!!!!! what areas are a good place to move to? i heard goodyr and Glendale, but not sure. i want to be away from as many bugs as possible.
It's really hard to narrow down the best places to live. It all depends on your needs and budget. Chandler, Gilbert and Scottsdale are great family friendly areas with many good schools, but the houses are more expensive. Buckeye is more affordable and safe, but it's in the West Valley, and for some that would be a commute if working in the Southeast Valley. Glendale is also more affordable, but I'm not sure how good the schools are and I believe the crime rates may be higher. You just have to do your research.
You can't necessarily get away from the scorpions and bugs completely, but as I said in the video, don't live too close to mountains or lakes. Thanks for watching!
Don't move to South Phx or most of Mesa. Stay north, east or west Phx. Don't move to south Scottsdale. Just because people say they live in "snobbsville, scottsdale" doesn't always mean they have money. South is a bad area. West (suprise, peoria, glendale, even some on sun city (but watch out for old farts on golf carts who think they own the world) are best areas.
Love ur vids, just stumbled upon them....im retiring from the army in 4 yrs and will be moving to AZ, im orig from CT....i always visit scottsdale and was settled on retiring their, but realistically its prob not a smart move because its so richy/pricey so im considering chandler...but never been there. Im looking for a place/city that has alot of restaurants franchises shopping, retail stuff....is chandler better than gilbert????
Chandler and Gilbert are very similar. I don’t think one has vast advantages over the other. Chandler does have a less nice area near downtown that Gilbert doesn’t seem to have. Gilbert housing seems to run a little more. But both have lots of shopping / eating options, both have really nice areas to live, etc. In my opinion there isn’t a whole lot of difference.
JSDaniel 451 what a coincidence lol
Go back to Michigan. I love the desert. Great place to live.
Nah. I think I’ll stick around...
Hi , very informative video. Great job !! Just want to ask one question. We are thinking to move Phoenix from Long Island , NY. especially for my son as he suffers during winter ( so many ear infections ) . Do you think we can deal with the heat ?
Thanks for your comment. I really can't answer that for you as it's really a personal preference. There are some people (like myself) who are not bothered by extreme heat. I still go about my day and continue to walk and bike ride, etc. I just do things really early in the morning or late in the evening when it's cooler.
For some people the heat is really hard for them and they just have a rough time. I figure if you don't like the Summer heat, you could stay indoors as much as possible like you would in the winter. It does get hot, but some handle it better than others.
Thanks for the reply !!
Amit, you sound like you are of Indian descent. If you have gone to India, you will be able to relate to the climate in AZ. India's heat is dry heat and can get up to 120 degrees, if you are closer to the equator.
Amit Limbaskar
Yes , I'm Sorry Your Son Stuffer Winter same me Before From Newark New Jersey moved here Arizona Sick are less is good ..
You are the first newcomer that has mentioned valley fever
Fifty yrs ago I moved to rural.srizona on land i.inherited and when.the land was dug up for a house I did get valley fever
I survived it but my.pet.did not
Hello?I want your advice?
Nowadays am living in Colorado and my family want to move to Arizona;honestly I never visit and don’t know nothing about this state;depend on your idea and experience should I move to there or no?It is very complicated for me;Thanks
Can you find pretty cheap homes to rent around here for big families
expect 100 degrees at 5am in summer. and 120 at 5pm in summer. ac on all day nonstop.....
Coming down to Phoenix to do a travel nursing assignment in 2 weeks. I'm pretty excited! Be here for 3 months so I may fall under that "snowbird" label.
Hope you enjoy your time here!
Thanks for your quick response. I will go to the link you provided regarding schools. Would it be safe to say that south Chandler and south Gilbert are safe and family friendly neighborhood?
Yes, those are good and safe places to raise a family.
@@LivinOurDreamz Tucson probably isn't though.. seems lousy or on the idea of St Pete FL anyhow.
I'm a native of Arizona and I'm 58 years oldand valley fever most people already had it just passed it off as a mild cold or something like that because like like you said it's a fungus that lives up in the upper inches of our soil and sense at times our soil is airborne you breathe it in but like you say your kids are probably ready had it and just passed it off as a cold or something
Heading to Apache Junction in the fall. Any info thanks
That just happens to be my next place to visit, so stay tuned!
I am moving back in 2 months miss all that sun
That sun will draw you back!
Great tips. For the new people APS or SRP power. SRP is cheaper and far superior. Keep that in mind and ask your realtor. Otherwise, enjoy
I concur! I tell all my clients they should choose an area that is serviced by SRP!
I have used both and definitely prefer SRP.
Spoken from a true out-of-stater. I am a true Arizonan and I love Arizona and everything that comes with it.
LOZANO1 same here, AZ native👍
You just a damn lie!
Same as the Coachella valley pretty much lol
I plan on moving to downtown in a condo type apartment so would valley fever be as bad and what about commuting by bus?
Yes you can commute by bus. Check out valleymetro.org for bus routes to see how it fits where you need to go. Valley Fever is a general risk of living in the desert, but it is mainly an issue when dust / soil kicks up. So if you are outside in a dust storm, your risk is higher no matter where you live. It also is more risky if you have a job in say construction where the soil is disturbed a lot or you do a lot of activities like dirt biking that would put you in a dusty environment.
Thanks the heat won't bother me at all I live in Kentucky and the few times it gets 100 here I enjoy it and make sure my AC is turned off lol
Danny Fleming you can commute by bus and the light rail goes right thru downtown...
I am class of 2009 wolverine ann arbor and heading to persue a master of supply chain in asu. Wp carey..nice to meet you
Nice to meet you too. Welcome to Arizona and thanks for watching! HUGE fan of the Wolverines by the way. GO BLUE!
I plan on visiting and if i like it enough im considering re locating there! Is there taxes like washington and cali?
Arizona taxes are lower than both of those places.
A saints Life Tv property taxes are relatively affordable....state income tax..no city income tax
The 10 acre lot for more than a mil....is intended for either commercial, or multi house development. you can check out www.landwatch.com to look for land in Maricopa County. Some are expensive, some are not. It depends on location, and size of lot. A lot in Cave Creek or Scottsdale will be far more expensive than in Gilbert, or other areas that are a little further out and less developed.
Nice family 🇯🇲
Thanks!
Great Video

First of all - thank you for your Vlogs ... great info for someone like me who isn't well traveled. The $64,000 question of the day is the electric bill. I'm so worried about this if I move there. What do you think (just an opinion) my average monthly electric bill will be for a normal sized 2 bedroom apartment or small, simple 3 bedroom house for 1-2 people? Someone told me that I'll come out the same financially in Cali because even though Cali's rents are higher ... I'd pay way less in electric. I respect and need your thoughts on both questions. Keep the great info coming ... it's needed by many I'm sure.
It shouldn’t go over $300 dollars a month. My June electric bill for a 5 bedroom house was about $280. For May it was $194.00. Now I tend to keep my air a little higher so if you like it cooler, of course your bill would be higher. June, July and August typically are the highest bills and of course during the winter the temps go down and so will your bill. Here’s a use estimator from SRP (the electric company here) to help you estimate your costs: www.srpnet.com/prices/home/calculator.aspx
Arizona Dreamz my one bedroom duplex in WA was $20 a month during summer xD
is the air quality better in the suburbs ?
You mentioned Vally Fever! What times of the year or months does it occur and you said your wife used a app for the air called Air? Can you make a video explaining more about valley fever and etc?
You can get Valley fever anytime of the year, but it's more likely during monsoon season (June thru September) because we are getting those Dust Storms and people are more exposed to it being in the air. I will make a video on Valley Fever in the future and talk more about it.
Arizona Dreamz Omg Thanks my wife was like omg no I want move there but I want to be safe! Lol but we are still working on the best place in Phoenix to move with a family?
Stay tuned for the next video this Saturday. I talk about my favorite places in the Valley for singles and people with families.
wow. Great video. Woulda been cool if the last shot was a filmed with a drone camera that flew up and filmed the local areas. easier said than done. lol
Sharp video.
Moved there for 6 months. Said f this boring and 🥵 to hot. I am now back in California loving life again.
In the summer at night you're still sweating. Don't forget the snakes. Don't hike in the summer.
Your the only one to mention the vally fever and thats something important
👍✌
what about the kissing bug issue and chagas?
