    Texas, California, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Ohio, and Alabama are the top seven states in the country in production of football prospects. Five of these states feed into SEC football programs. This gives the SEC the lead in talent, having the greatest talent gives spark to attracting greater attention to football over other sports, having greater attention to football attracts heavy focus in spending more resources on top coaching and facilities, and so on. I'm sorry if you cant handle that?

    I know the SEC doesnt control it but as structered with the BCS , to prove the true national championship it needs to change. Long ago it was a reward for us to go south or west for winning the Big Ten and treated it like a vacation. Us midwestern boys would never dream of going to California or South or if we did it was once in a childhood. Now with airfare being so cheap its not so much of a challenge. So lets make it fair and bring one BCS game up here and yes it will fill.

    Its not about stadium size, its about filling the stadium. While your point that people from the south would like to see a white christmas is a good point, because i myself would love to experience real snow, its not good enough of one obviously for the businesses who make the decisions as to where the bowls are located. You act as if the SEC controls it. Also, you must remember that the majority of sec OOC games are scheduled at the beginning of the year, so its very unlikely to go up in nov.

      You are spot on it was November 10,1990 Iowa was ranked # 5 and in the big ten lead OSU was coming off a tough stretch where they lost to USC Illinois and tied Indiana then they beat Purdue Minnesota and Northwestern smashing all three badly and I told my buddy watch out OSU was playing excellent but where he lived in San Diego it was all Midwest transplants rooting against OSU but Not that Saturday Olive made the game winner and OSU upset Iowa 27-26 I also remember on 1985 Iowa was ranked #1 and OSU shocked them 22-13 Sonny Gordon blocked a punt and the Buckeye defense were amazing that game

    I dont want a big playoff.. I just want it spread out. The Rose Bowl is a tradition and want to still play there as you in the Sugar Bowl. We just have to live with the traveling and still reward these kids with that trip. But as far as the other minor bowls spread it out. Let them play out the Bowls and and the top two from there play again in the BCS championship game. If they cant figure out the top two after the bowl games im lost. I am a traditionalist and want the best of both worlds.

    It has everything to do with the creation of football. You wouldnt even believe what it is like here in Columbus in the fall. We live OSU. Remember we dont have pro sports here except for the hockey team. You would get the same thing in Lincoln Nebraska. All I am saying if you want a true national champion which the BCS is trying to achieve spread it out. They say home field is worth three points so if thats the case we would have at LEAST two more national championships.

    • @nedstewart1

      If a team is playing 500 to a thousand miles from their home stadium they have no home advantage whether the game is played in the North or South. Usually Ohio State has the advantage because they travel with a larger fan base. Ohio States problem is when they don't have at least 30% of their roster coming from the South and can't match up SEC speed and talent. The last 3 beat downs Clemson (ACC) beat Ohio State i'll bet Ohio State had a larger fan base at the game. Tell you what. Next time Ohio State plays a top SEC team lets let only mid-west players play for the Bucks and only let Southern players play for the top SEC team. Guess What. Ohio State looses 99% of the time. Have Ohio State fans any regional pride? Why do they root for the Bucks when so many of their players are from the South?

    I like Tressel but he was absolutely dogged by out of conference opponents, especially the SEC, not trying to troll but we had a few times where the ball bounced our way in that 2002 Championship game, Miami wins that 9/10 times. He also benefited from talent rich Ohio while other Big 10 recruiting was sub par. We cruised through the Big 10 cause of superior talent then got our asses whooped everytime we played an elite out of conference team. Urban is easily the greatest coach in Ohio State history, I just don't understand how people compare the two. He upped the program from a very good program to an elite program and also raised the recruiting level of the Big 10 by taking a more national approach.

    • @nedstewart1
      @nedstewart1 4 роки тому

      Who can forget when Urban took his Florida Gators and beat Ohio State. With his SEC experience Urban knew Ohio State could not compete against the SEC unless Ohio State had at least 30% of it's roster coming from the South with special attention payed to Texas players. Enough said about regional pride. LSU, Alabama etc. have regional pride and always have 90% or more of their players coming from the South. Ohio State had to lose their regional pride if they were ever expected compete against the SEC.

      OSU is 2-10 in Bowl games against the SEC and OSU historically has a losing bowl record. Also Mason Dixie line has nothing to do with winning or losing. home field is worth 3 points, why? because of the crowd. In all bowls, the tickets are sold 50/50 between teams... so where it is has very little effect on the game. USC lost to texas in their backyard, Florida traveled further away to destroy ohio state in arizona, sure the superdome is close to baton rouge but i know damn straight that lsu's crowd didnt have an advantage over the rowdy osu crowd. So im sorry, im just not buying the argument of the bowls giving anyone an advantage.

And yes, the football hall of fame is in ohio, but i think the reason has more to do with the creation of football and the schools in the vicinity who were successful100yrsago

Oh i believe yall go crazy for OSU, and trust me when i say the entire state of Louisiana is all LSU, you cant drive from one place to another without seeing atleast several vehicles decked out with LSU something, that or even houses decked out with lsu apparel. I wouldnt have a problem with say, the rose bowl alternating between cali and ohio or illinois.

    I was there on the very top row of seats in 10C. People were leaving the game before the comeback. After taking the lead I looked over the ledge and saw the fans who left stop and look toward the stadium to see what was going on. I told the guy next to me that they were so dumb to leave early cause anything can happen. Well, it did. What a comeback.

    Horrible coaching by Mike Archer to take the safety only up 6. After the free kick/punt the ball was returned to their own 40 anyway. Just trust your guys to get the punt off like you would any other time. Now LSU would've only been able to tie with a FG.

    Ok, im pretty sure you cannot compare Ohio that has a population thats ten times greater over the history of its existence as a territory with Louisiana over the amount of influential people produced. Secondly, the people produced by a state has little to do with the culture of a state. Louisiana's culture > Ohio's, thats a fact. The GLOBAL cultural convention is being held in Louisiana this year, give me a break. And just to go along with you, my own city, lake charles, itself has produced...

    I was at this game and rushed the field at the end. With about four minutes to go....I think about 30 to 40 % of the OSU fans had left the stadium. I could see them from C-deck heading out of the stadium. By the last minute I had moved down to about 15 rows behind the OSU bench. Still one of the best games I ever watched (P.S. OSU finished only 4-6-1 that year)

      Bobby Bowden made a fool out of Ohio State Football. Fact is when your in a conference who for many years hid in the Rose Bowl we can only count OSU's 2-10 bowl record against the SEC. How many of those loses were their Ohio Coaches? Why did it take so long for those Ohio coaches that a cloud of dust and 3 yards offense could not beat Southern speed and athleticism?
