During the 10-year war between bow and Woody, this was the only game in which Ohio state was clearly and by far the better team they gave Michigan a good old fashioned ass whipping. Every other game was a nail-biter and Michigan got f***** over in 1973 with that 10-10 tie. They should have went to the Rose bowl and not Ohio State.

Thanks for the clip of the '69 Rose Bowl game between Ohio State and USC. Saw the game on TV as a kid and loved every minute of it. Of course, Curt Gowdy did make gaffes at times, like when Gowdy mentioned "Hurry Up, Sloopy," instead of "Hang On, Sloopy," which the OSU band would play when the Buckeyes were winning football games in the final minutes. But this brings back memories of a big college football game, resulting in a Buckeye win and the 1968-69 national championship.

I grew up in Cbus as a big fan of the Bucks starting in the '60s. I remember watching this game live on TV from the west coast (9 am kickoff - yuck) where I was stationed in the military, and it making me homesick but also glad I wasn't back there in that dreary, damp late Nov Midwest weather. After winning this game the team was invited to the Holiday Bowl. It was strange seeing so many OSU gear-wearing fans around town starting the week before that game.

growing up, my folks used to send me to ohio state football camp. i was very lucky and grateful to go and spend summers learning from some of ohio states greatest. i played linebacker back in the day and the way they taught how to tackle was from this exact moment. you put your facemask in the ball carriers chest and run straight through him. andy katzenmoyer was an idol to my young self and man was he an absolute freak of nature

That kicker for Michigan State, who's name will never be uttered from my mouth, had no business in the B1G much less be the back up kicker for a GLIAC team. He was AWFUL. And MSU's coaching staff should've been fired after that game. Why they let JLS stick around for another year I will never understand. That entire coaching staff was putrid. MSU had the players to beat OSU on that day but poor coaching and kicking did them in, plus Stanton and his foibles as well. Stanton had all the physical tools but he could make boneheaded mistakes at the worst times.

Michigan was so soft. 😛
