it should be the opposite. You need to let the fleshy part dry first before it germinate. I use to dip it on ash to protect it against mold for a few days before planting it

@@H00618 i p,aced the whole yam in water, no fleshy part to heal.
@@privatename3447 you need to keep it dry though before the sprouts appear. Ground moisture a key but not to the point you can soak it instead.
