I've spent one year in self imposed quarantine or lockdown. Last February my wife and I decided to shut in and stay at home as much as possible to avoid COVID. It's been horrible for my mental and physical health. Today's video is a rant about what the effects of the lockdown have been for my mental health, and how it has negatively affected my world view. I also do talk about politics and the 2020 election.

You could save 100 old people while 200 more people will become a lot more threatened to suffer from critical heard failure/disease, gainging more weight, getting more depressed, commiting suicide as business owners go bankrupt because of the closed businesses.

Your quarantine stance doesn't make much sense to me. Just hear me out or clarify if I don't have this right!
Yes, obey all guidelines and avoid spreading the infection to other people. That part I get. But literally never leaving your house doesn't make sense. If you have to go have a doctor's appointment, you go the doctors. The only person that could get sick is you during that time. And assuming you are heading straight home after the doctor's, the only other person you can get sick is your wife and vice versa. If all of your trips are 2 weeks+ between each other, you are not risking infecting other people, just yourself (assuming these are like outings that last a few hours or less).
It sounds like you are less worried spreading Covid and more worried about getting it period. This is understandable, especially because we don't know about it's long term side effects much. But those whom chose to live their lives sensibly are not any lesser than those like you whom chose to be permanent shut ins. We are social creatures. If everyone did what you did we'd have a lot more suicides/drug ODs than we already do and a 100% dead economy.
I agree with most of the rest of what you said. Many people were definitely being reckless. And yes, a larger portion of the population is crazier than I thought, but I still wouldn't call it "the average person" is crazy, you'd have to be quite careful how to define "average" because that typically lumps in too many people.
As far as vaccine distribution is concerned, it's a lot better for the states to handle it as opposed go the federal government which was about to prioritize vaccinating young African Americans over older white people purely on the basis of race and disregarding the stats, instead using "group stats" to determine whom should get vaccinated, whatever that term meant. And they only backed off the policy because journalists called them out on it.
    Crazy world we live in.

There's a way to not have to be a shut in, is all I'm pointing out to him.

If he walks into a doctor's office and he's been home up until that point the only person at risk of being infected is him. Covid's incubation is fast, it is not instantaneous.
And yeah, the economy does matter. I'm not talking about "OMG THE STOCK MARKET" which the fed just inflated to the moon anyway, I'm talking about small businesses existing, people having work to do during the day so they aren't losing it, and in lieu of the government having a horrible response to this, people need money, so they are going to work for it.

been a fan for years. hurts to hear you're having such a hard time. i got a WFH job a year before the pandemic, and I'm not too social so i'd been living as though on lockdown since even before sht hit the fan, and i have a history with depression so it was definitely hard to get past the boredom. Take care of yourself m8, if you're struggling, get the help you need. therapists and psychs should all be doing video appts these days. i would personally break quarantine and just do the things you want to do wearing a mask. i understand the morals behind it but theres only so much you can take. take care of yourself before you worry about others. from what i hear, the masks are effective. i hope thats true. i know the world is nuts, but we aren't alone. the others that arent insane make it worth it. consider taking up meditation / mindfulness. its healthy to be in the present moment, not staying stuck in thought loops and feelings of anxiety about how fucked the world is. at least it works that way for me.. but when it comes to anxiety and depression man, trust me you'll make it through, it won't be like this forever. i was borderline suicidal for 10 years and thought it would never end but I'm doing better than ever now. it wouldve been a lot less time was i able to actually have any hope. i hope i can give you some. you've been happy before, you know what it's like, you'll return as long as you keep taking care of yourself and don't ever give up. maybe what i'm saying is overkill but idk. wish you the best my guy.

I always love these videos because I can relate to how serious you take the pandemic.
21:22 is so true. I assumed that the people around me would have similar beliefs, but that's just not the case. I live in SoCal, so its decent, but people do the bare minimum around here. They wear their masks, but they take it off instantly once its no longer needed, or don't wear masks around their friends because they trust them. I open Instagram or snapchat and see people I know hang out with friends at the beach w/out masks , go to a drive-in rave w/ friends, or dine at a restaurant around strangers in close proximity without masks.
These people make me feel like I'm crazy and paranoid. But I've played enough games with RNG elements to know that transmission rate and death rate are way too high to not take seriously. I've been called paranoid by some acquaintances because I chose not visit my family for the holidays. Wait til they find out I've only been outside 2 times throughout the entire pandemic, they'd probably force me into a psychiatric hospital. The two times outside were for a flu shot and for my first vaccine dose.

ramble: i get the feeling of superiority. But dont let it posess you. its a slippery slope leading to loneliness and missery, not just in quarentine but in general, even if its true. I live in norway, in an isolated town of about 8000, so i cant say i feel your pain, to the extrnt of isolation you have been through i mean. ive been attending school and feel pretty safe. We have had covid here but more like a couple people a week. as i say i vome from a town of 8000 people and ive pretty much felt isolated my whole life. in a different way of course but still. i can realte to what youre saying. aif i were you id Switch things up. hop in your car and walk the mountains or other nature idk , listen to audio books while you do it. thats helped me through alot. people have been writing books for a long time and there is alot of wisdom to be gained in all different ways. and id say thats a better use of your brain than stupid election fraud conspiracies and recentment over the general population. idiots man. they make me angry. and anger makes me misserable and hopeless. left, right, doesnt matter there are idiots all round. not everybody values the truth, and thats a hard pill to swallow.

I’m a subscriber from Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 and Covid hear was more “controlled” due to us being the biggest of the small isles currently were in a state of half and half normalcy and the governor announced that certain schools would get back to operating by March 3. Honestly I don’t know how to feel about it but half of me is like tired of staying at home all day and it has affected me mentally but some how I’ve kept my sanity. Question is how long can I keep it cause every day feels like the dread increases. As a teenager this quarantine has honestly got me in all time low thankfully none of my family members hasn’t gotten COVID. And since we’re semi open now it feels a bit better but not as it use to be. I just hope this ends soon. I now realize that the things I use to take for granted are now the things I need the most.

I personally believe that social media is the main driving force of these changes in human psychology on top of quarantine (which inadvertently leads to more social media consumption). I do not associate with Facebook, Twitter etc. I do watch UA-cam videos now and again and even this platform is tainted. It is generally scary to see what is happening to the average folk.

This had undeniably been a brutal year for all of us.
