Well to start. A 1990 Volkswagen Corrado was the first car I bought at the age of 16 to learn how to drive a stick on. I only owned it for a year or two. And now 7 years later I contacted the kid I sold it to and bought it back and now own it again!!!!
@@DakotahNaugle..... That's AWESOME!!! I seen a Corrado when i was a bag boy at Kroger when i was 16 and immediately fell in love with them. 11 years after that i bought one and I've never let her go
I'm 18 and the corrado was my first car, my dad and I found a broken down one and restored it as a father son project. She's is so much fun to drive. Still one of the best handling cars I've ever driven. And that exhaust note is just 🤤
Hey my first car too, owned it 11 years and two engines! I can't agree with you on the handling part, it understeered like a pig, but that engine note is just incredible.
I have a 1987 16V scirocco with 140,000 original miles on it. My dad gave it to me. My wife wants it gone but the Rocco holds a special place in my heart !
I had a 93 VR6 in my 20s. It was always broken, was expensive to insure, parts were expensive and it rode rougher than a skateboard. Worst of all, girls didnt even know what it was. But I felt like MFing James Bond behind the wheel of that car. Totally worth it.
I bought a lightly used 93 Corrado SLC at the end of 1993, and it was my daily driver for over 9 years. The problems I had were a failed clutch(under warranty), a stuck sunroof, and a bad window regulator. That being said, of the 2 VWs, 2 Audis, and one Subaru I've owned, it's my all-time favorite

Great video although I teared up when you said the VR6 should be the one to buy. We have a 1990 G60 that is a head turner everywhere we take it. Lucky enough to have purchased it before the price spiked. Previous owner had rebuilt engine and supercharger so felt confident it would bring us joy before any major work needed to be done. It is more tun to drive than our 2017 Boxster S.
I have a 1991 VW Corrado that I have owned since 1994 & my factory original G60 that is modded with the Neuspeed HP kit amongst other bolt-ons that bumped the boost up to about 15 to 16 psi gave me 140,000+ reliable miles until I noticed a small crack on the Displacer at which time I stopped driving it to avoid it grenading, got it serviced with a new displacer, but the supercharger was still working & putting out about 12 to 13 psi at the time I stopped driving it. BTW, my rear wing still works perfectly, but I will admit my sunroof is starting to do funky things. It's simple, take care of the car, service it regularly & you shouldn't have any issues aside from the normal wear/tear items & I constantly take my cars on spirited drives, I don't baby them at all. I will say this: I love this car more than all the modern VW's that I currently have in my stable, can't wait to get it back on the road.
This is a long post, but if you’re new to the G60 it might be worth it to read this. The biggest thing worthy of a mention about the Corrado G60, was that most G60 owners never serviced the G-Ladder as the manufacturer recommended. The side seals were supposed to be replaced every 60,000 miles, the internal timing belt for the G-Ladder displacer and eccentric shaft is supposed to be replaced at 30,000 miles. 95% of the problems with the G-Ladder had more to do with the actual owners rather than the cars themselves. Those who do their services as they were supposed to be done, would probably never experience a supercharger failure. Those who didn’t, blew them up and blamed VW. That said the most common things I’ve seen lead to failure are: Failed secondary displacer drive belts (which can damage the displacer and the case) Incorrectly installed side seals (which can damage the displacer) Improper modification (porting the housing and displacer to the point where the displacer cracks or becomes damaged due to resonance at high rpm) Cage Bearing failure (from infrequent oil changes) Over speeding (This can be caused when using both the larger spec displacer eccentric shaft and the smaller pulley to produce more boost.) Foreign object damage (the Supercharger swallows something and the magnesium displacer and Aluminium supercharger Cade become damaged as a result. For those who didn’t feel like servicing their superchargers every 30,000 miles or two years, the best bet is to remove the G-Ladder altogether, and convert to a traditional roots style blower like an Eaton M45 or M62 or BBM Motorsports offers a nice Twin Screw Supercharger, that just flat out screams. I like the G-Ladder. I’ve owned 3 Corrado G60’s and never had a supercharger failure, but I’d be lying if I told you that the G60 was a low maintenance item. The key to keeping them alive is proactive routine supercharger maintenance at 30k and 60k intervals which really requires the supercharger to be removed, dismantled, inspected, the appropriate parts replaced and reassembled. I also recommend using a BBM Motorsports rebuild kit with the wide secondary displacer drive belt-

I am an assistant general manager at Culver’s. And my first car I bought when I was 15 was a 1991 g60 corrado. And I miss it so much. I’m in the market for a VR6 soon. Going to make it a project build for my son. But he probably won’t get it because I love it so much. “Fuck off here’s a civic”
Had to get rid of my old G60, as soon as I get my garage built, I'll be looking for a VR6. Miss this car a ton. Gonna buy two of them, one to make electric, the other for VR6 turbo.
I've owned 2 Corrado VR6's in my time... I loved them both but they pissed me off in equal measures so they had to go. If the right one came along (not many around within the UK market) I'd definitely be interested in a 3rd!
Same here. Though only my first pissed me off. The second was a gem. I sold it in mid 2009 because I traveled for a couple years. Simultaneous feelings of deep regret and totally worth it are with me still a decade later. :)
@@therealchickentender My original one was an R32 conversation, amazing vehicle but had so many annoying little issues, I just got pissed off with it. Second one was a standard VR6 which I found underwhelming. I sold it to a friend who I believe still owns it.
Damn I just found a corrado at a shop that gets used cars and fixes them up to sell next to my work today and this video showed up YESTERDAY. dumb luck?? Gonna ask more info on the car tomorrow and if it’s being sold to anyone
Family has 4 of them, all 1990 G60's. 2 Red, 1 Nugget Yellow, one repainted Porsche Silver. I myself own a '97 GTI VR6, and those are just the projects. Owning V-Dubs is like having children.
Owned a clean '92 SLC from 2000 til 2004. Loved it. Sold it. Regretted it. Bought an even cleaner '93 SLC in early 2006. Loved it more. Sold it in summer 2009. Sad but necessary. A part of me still regrets it. It's the only car I've owned that 20 years later I still sometimes miss dearly.
Owned my 92’ Vr6 for 15 years now, drive it a couple times a week, the wing never broke but I did pull the fuse out so it stays off, the car overall has been nothing but awesome, still get compliments on it👍
One thing to mention is... The Interieur before and after facelift... I think the masterpiece in corrado style is the before facelift Interieurs... And commons know thing.. American want european style and european want American style... I live in germany, after first car.. Trabant Station Wagon.. I owned a corrado vr6.. Loved that engine Sound.. now years gone by.. I got in two weeks four spoken likes.. Double thumbs up... Did i forgot to mention the exhausts from bastuck 🤔
My 1994 2.9 Corrado still drives wonderfully! But you mentioned 178hp... I think it has 190hp, am I wrong? Not a big difference in the end... And it sounds great.
My dad won (yes WON) a vr6 Corrado in 1992. He was 21 when he got it and I still remember him bringing me to school in first grade in 2006 it. It sadly got pushed into a wall in 2009 by a semi. It was parked so no one was harmed but damn that could have been mine one day.
Let's be real - most of us would love to own a Corrado. But, then you see the reliability, parts expense, rust, and more.... The Corrado idea goes out the door real quick :(
I've had 3 Corrados and I loved them all. Kinda wish I hadn't sold them. I've also had the MK5 R32 which is a much better driving car but less cool in my opinion.

I feel sad for all those watching this who don't know what Culver's is and their cheese curds 😳
Brought someone from the East Coast to Culvers and they were like "it's ok"
Air mailed them back to shitty NYC the same day
@@BobBob-et9io eject-o seat-o cuz 😂
@@_YUKL_ one was finally built near my house and man it's good
What is it?
@@newbilpun8944 Culver's or cheese curds?
The best commercial in existence
Had to get rid of my old G60, as soon as I get my garage built, I'll be looking for a VR6. Miss this car a ton. Gonna buy two of them, one to make electric, the other for VR6 turbo.
The hit of nostalgia you just gave me at minute 2💀💀💀💀
It doesn't look so bad its actually pretty nice
Nah they look so much better in person mate 😍
I’m loving my Corrado I’m hoping to have it posted up on their website soon
Had a 1990 G 60 what a love-hate relationship that was.
I was soo excited about the title of this one.
I sold it to a friend who I believe still owns it.
my second car was a 1990 Corrado G60. ABSOLUTLEY, loved that car and miss it. So wish VW would make a new modern version.
First car you drive in the first Forza Horizon.... My 12 year old self was so bamboozled when i saw a volkswagon with a pop up spoiler😬😬😬
I own a 91 g60.. ive had it for 10 years now! The wing is working , and never had any issue with the car :p so.. love love relationship
I miss my corrado, its far the best car ive had, only problem these cars always had problems specially with the g60
Alex: If your over 25
Random lady in an ad: Are you over 25?
Wtf is happening???
Most Corrados are approx 30 years old. Add 15-20 years to that. And the Corrado entusiasts are 45-50 years old.
I have a buddy who did a 1.9 TDI swap, a bunch of mods, lots of fun!
1:56 Sent me all the way back to my childhood 😆 love these Corrados, I rarely ever see these!!
Owned my 92’ Vr6 for 15 years now, drive it a couple times a week, the wing never broke but I did pull the fuse out so it stays off, the car overall has been nothing but awesome, still get compliments on it👍
Currently restoring my wife's 90' tornado red G60
Would love to see it when it's finished!
@@FitmentIndustries for sure I'll make sure to remember!
One thing to mention is... The Interieur before and after facelift... I think the masterpiece in corrado style is the before facelift Interieurs... And commons know thing..
Us Market mostly 178hp Vr6

190hp vr6
G60 160hp
1.8l 16v 136hp

I’m 16 and was looking for a first car, I looked at corrados but couldn’t find a good one near me, I ended up buying a 94 bronco
That opening sequence of trash-euros killed me.
I have a 92 slc and I love it😅 can't complain about it at all
Latest model Beetle, Rear Engine, VR6, AWD.

Mmmmm. One more for the CEL Crew. Gotta love em!
I own two vr6 Corrados and I wish I had five more!
They are still sick til this day my buddies is sick he did the all wheel drive swap n vr6 turbo 🔥🔥🔥
Love my vr6 rado
I love my 93 vr6 and so does everyone that 👀 it
Yooo that zoo animals ad was a throw back fr fr
My dad won (yes WON) a vr6 Corrado in 1992. He was 21 when he got it and I still remember him bringing me to school in first grade in 2006 it. It sadly got pushed into a wall in 2009 by a semi. It was parked so no one was harmed but damn that could have been mine one day.
VW Corrados and MK2 GTIs gatta be the sweetest Euro classic cars ever besides the BMW E30 👌👌👌
Ive always thought these were tight for some reason. Another one along these lines is a Izuzu Impulse/ Piazza Turbo.
I always admired the Isuzu impulse built by lotus.
Let's be real - most of us would love to own a Corrado. But, then you see the reliability, parts expense, rust, and more....
The Corrado idea goes out the door real quick :(
I need a Corrado.
buying a corrado as my second car from my best friends dad, as soon as i saw it in his yard i wanted it
I've had 3 Corrados and I loved them all. Kinda wish I hadn't sold them. I've also had the MK5 R32 which is a much better driving car but less cool in my opinion.
