One of our newest additions to the Lawman Guitars BiLT line of fine guitars.
A Brand New 2018 BiLT Hand Carved Top and Back Olive Drab finished Volare Guitar with a Brand New Mono Gigbag Case. This is a new model for the BiLT Brand and its really really cool…Its one of the first that’s a Hard Tail. They have been building almost excelusively Mastery equipped Vibratos. This body thru Hard Tail its awesome…A special, special guitar from these awesome guitar builders!
This is one of the first that the guys have hand carved. Yes, they use a machine to initially create the lines but hard labor follows with hand tools to give this guitar a hand built carved top and back. The top is a a strong ¼ inch and just tapping the top gives a glimpse of the musical tone of this alder. The neck, also hand carved, is a ROASTED Highly figured maple. They have created their own seasoning of the wood they call roasting to give the wood a much older appearance and much more stability than using traditional drying methods. It also smells really good before finishing…LOL..
It comes in the incredible Olive Drab finish that looks great. The fretboard has large black fret positions which really reminded me of a Geddy Lee Bass…very cool on a guitar. White Binding to set it off… They used Fender Medium Jumbo fretwire on the medium C shape neck with a 9.5" radius. The fretboard is EBONY!! I love Ebony fretboards! It has a 25 ½ inch scale neck that feels like a Fender and the nut measures 1 11/16’s inch… They used a String thru Strat bridge and made the bridge surround! These guys can do it all…oh, they also hand cut the Tortise look pickguard. This guitar has more hand work than 90% of guitars sold out there.… What a guitar!!
Lets talk Pickups! It has the upgraded Lollar Peter Green Imperial Humbuckers …. They sound huge! Combined with the warm body dymanics of this guitar, you can achieve every style of music from Rock and Blues to County and Jazz. I played them all on this guitar and it sounds incredible!
I played this awesome guitar in the BiLT Shop then proceeded to demo it in our shop and played it for about an hour. What a great guitar. Incredible action and the pickups make you feel like a ROCK STAR! They are so powerful…Cool cool guitar.

Built by two Luthiers Tim Thelen and Bill Henss…They started building custom guitars for a great line up of Bands, such as Imagine Dragons, Nels Cline of Wilco, Wes Borland of Limp Bizkit and many others. Notable players from the Des Moines Music Scene include Envy Corps and The Nadas.

Unless the proverbial ship comes in, you will more than likely be talking directly to the guy who is going to be carving your neck. You know, we actually like it that way because we can find out exactly what you need and deliver it. We actually care. In our opinion, the best marketing is word of mouth. We will go to great lengths to make sure you are satisfied with your guitar. Happy owners make better music and that makes us happy… so we’re all happy.
Technology!
We employ the latest building techniques as of about 1949 which includes hand tools and some machines powered by induction motors. Not to say we wouldn’t love having all of our parts arrive via long slow boat from china and we just assemble and pay for magazine ads. That’s just not in the cards, so we have to make everything by hand.
No fancy dancy woods
Not that we don’t appreciate the beauty, there are just plenty of folks making guitars with AAAAAAA, double star, prehistoric growth, eyeball flipping, got it from the bottom of a swamp etc. grades of woods. We drive to our supplier, sort through stacks of alder & maple and pick out nice plain clear boards that rock your face off.

Bilt has been copying the Starcaster headstock - so they asked themselves "why not just copy the whole guitar?"
I'm kind of astonished someone can review a Volare and never say the word "Starcaster".
